Hi all. Looks like I may be joining you, once I come up with a character concept. Is there any role currently lacking? After a quick glance, it looks like maybe an archer for ranged or maybe a third caster could be useful?
** spoiler omitted **
Welcome Fiallain, apparently you know a few of us all ready :-)
Fiallain |
Thanks! And yes, I do know some, and looking forward to playing with the rest as well. :)
Also, Rizzen - that was so deliciously twisted and wrong! Would have been very interesting to play out. I like it.
I played a weaver of the OP last time, so I'm going to go mundane this go around. Though with so many wetlanders in the group already, I'll stick with playing an Aiel.
My character is more or less ready, save for a couple of questions. This will start off as an Algai'dis'wai (utdb version), with mostly ranged feats as far as combat goes. Unfortunately, the character is going to be pretty inept socially. We'll see how that goes. :P He/she will be from Fia's old sept.
Rizzen, you probably have an idea in your head with what has been going on for the past 200 years with Fia so I'll leave it up to you as to whether or not this character is related.
As to why he/she is with the group, in a nutshell my thought is that perhaps one or more of the clan's wise ones were in Arad Doman and have failed to come back, and one of the chiefs sent the character to ascertain the Wise One's fate - and whether the Seanchan were involved. I could have either joined the caravan in Tar Valon, or met them here. Let me know if that works with what is going on.

Question for Tiana:
What are your thoughts on another Far Dareis Mai in the group? My last character started off as one of them, but I don't mind playing one again. Being from the same warrior society would tie our characters and a reason to know each other beyond just being Aiel out of the desert.
Otherwise, I will probably be one of the Seia Doon.

Looks good so far, but the Empress's name is technically Fortuona, not Tuon, as she took a new name upon ascending to the Crystal Throne.
The way the timeline reads, it looks like the Seanchan forces that seized Arad Doman weren't necessarily under the Empress's control. Do I interpret that correctly?

Technically, at the time of the signing, it was considered like the Almoth Plain, an open ungoverned land. None of the Westlands realized the issue until after Seanchan claimed the land and cited the Accords.

Crazy weekend.
Two things have occured, My long term relationship has dissolved in a messy fashion, and the manager at the place I work has passed away in a car accident. I'm defacto in charge now for the next few weeks until The regional director can arrange for us to have someone in charge.
What that means for you all folk is that for the next two weeks (or so) I will probably be too busy to post daily, but i will post when i can.
Once again Im terrible sorry, but I will get full speed again in a few weeks.

Man Jair that's rough.
I've been gong through my own trials lately in RL so I can relate.

Well that sucks man. I never liked her anyways.
No worries about the gameplay. I, or someone else, will play your PC til you get to a more stable routine.

Ok, just read the update. I have to confess, there were a couple of parts where I wanted to tear up...
Elathras Narcinal |
What parts?
Hhhmmm, it's always sad when beloved characters die, so Matrim and Perrin dying was tough. Worse was when al’Lan Mandragoran, died, especially of the plague.
The difficult part is the funerals, so when Rhoekk died and the 'Ogier and a heartbroken Aiel' showed, that was bad. But the worst was when “Min” passed and A lone figure begins to frequent the statue.
It strikes me that the only thing worse than burying the love of your life might be the thought of making them bury you...
It makes you wonder if he contacted her or anyone else after a while.
And of course you know it's really good fiction when were still talking about it.

combat in a Rizzenmagnus Campaign:
combat works like this.
one round of combat is a 24hr period in real time.
the round starts at 12pm CST, which is nominally when i will make a post in regards to combat.
at 12pm, i will make a posting about what is happening in the round, what any NPCs are doing, conditions, and attempt to write up a descriptive paragraph or two describing what is happening. This is to make it more interesting to read than just a wall of dice rolls.
when i make my posting, players have 24 hours to post their PC actions. Initiative doesnt really have a use within this type of pbp environment, except when i need to utilize it for storytelling purposes.
what this means is that you, the players, can act in whatever order you want, or can post. Example: Tiana, dalia, and Jair are taking on a couple of trollocs. I set the scene, post a map showing locations, describe what is within the environment, and post. During the next 24 hours, Tiana posts first of shooting her bow at a trolloc, dalia channels air and hardens the air around another trolloc, and then Jair rushes and attacks. The next day, at 12pm, i come up, post a descriptive scene, and then make my rolls for the trollocs. after said posting, its another 24 hours, and a new round. this time, jair gets online first and posts that he makes a follow up attack using a sword form, then Tiana shoots another arrow and scores a crit, and finally, Dalia posts late that night about immolating a trolloc.
rinse, repeat.
if you cannot post for that 24 hour period/round, dont fret. i automatically assume that any PC that doesnt post is on the defensive, so they receive a +6 to AC for that round. But, for that first round, i also wont attack said PC. After that, if the PC is a proper target, then i will attack. Your PC doesnt simply "disappear". It is possible for you to come back and find your PC is a Trolloc plaything. Now, during this time, either I, or preferably someone else, will make rolls for your character while youre gone.
the standard round will be 24hours, monday through friday. The weekends, since no one lives on their PC, is an extended round.
hopefully this explains how combat works.
questions?

If there is ever a time when say we know we will not be able to post is it possible to leave a standard action of events like say
Jair will fire his bow at any ranged attackers, barring any ranged attackers anyone threatening one of the Aes sedai, Barring any attacks against the Aes Sedai, then the nearest foe not adjacent to him?
or do you prefer to just sort of leave it up to gm/other players discretion?

that is perfectly fine, the called actions.
Elathras Narcinal |
In an earlier post you said there are 3 armed guards. One bowman under Jair, one guard armed to the teeth inside the building opposite Bormanes, the other stands outside next to the door.
So Elathras is near the bowman standing under Jair and the door guard, does the door guard have a bow?
Also how close are the rushing figures?

So, I am trying to figure out how to do overchanneling. In the WoTPathfinder pdf it indicates that you make a Channel skill check after referencing table 9-2. Table 9-2 does not make any mention of overchanneling and, based on previous discussions, we are not using the Channel skill. So .. how do we resolve overchanneling?
RIZZENMAGNUS |
Elathras:door guard doesnt have a bow. The figures are on the backside of the hut, opposite you.
Lucius: Overchanneling is linked to making a composure check. So just roll a d20+composure skill plus other mods. The chart in WOTRPG is used for DC thresholds for overchanneling

Thanks, I went ahead and posted. I leave for work around 10 EST, and will eventually post there, but I can't guarantee that I would make it in before your deadline. Which is cool, just figuring better safe than sorry :-)
Elathras Narcinal |
a couple of quick questions:
Are the Seanchan shooting at the attackers?
in game:
"Everyone else is rocked from their feet, and shoved to the floor. The rock below Jamyn's feet cracks and splinters, causing a crater to form."
Do the people outside get knocked to the ground or get blown off of the rock?
If they are standing do they take damage from building part's flying?

Hey RIZZENMAGNUS, is there anyway to see the map without logging in?
I don't have facebook and my google account is my work account.
Can I use some other email or something?
