I know! It like they are...normal folk!
I hear a rumor that a lot of VOs play in PbP since they run so much in their local areas.
That's why I do it - I GM shedloads and otherwise would get to play maybe a handful of times a year.
| DM Panic |
There's absolutely a ripple effect. When I play in a PbP, it ends up being 'zeroed' by me shortly afterwards, and then run by one or more GMs within a month or so at in-person gamedays.
A lot of local players in our area owe their thanks to the likes of Mr. Bold Strider or Mr. Endless Forms - their runs being the ones on my cheatsheet that've led to the most gamedays here.

I hear a rumor that a lot of VOs play in PbP since they run so much in their local areas.
Also, congrats Iammars.
Funny enough, this was the reason why I started playing via Virtual Table Top - I was running so much in Philly that I wanted to play my characters still. And then I started running online a lot, and now that I moved away from Philly I've become VL of online play and now run all the time via VTT and don't play my characters ever. I might try to hop in a PbP or two, since I can afford to lock in a character to not being played for a while.
Thanks for all the congrats!

A smell like the mashing of a rank octopus and a fetid wombat rapidly fills the common area. "WOW! THAT STINKS! Hee hee. Hmm, I wonder if this will make it worse?" Boom pours another vial into the jar.
It does.
Ok, not sure I quite get how this is working. Do I have to put all 8 of my PFS characters on all 18 of the signup sheets listed at the top of the page?
You do not. GMs typically make recruitment calls here in this thread (preferably in character!) with a link to their sign-up sheet. You can then sign up with the appropriate character for that specific adventure.

"My caravan has been conducting business smoothly lately, and I think it's time for me to get out and expand my contacts..."
Level 7 Gunslinger/Rogue, I'll be honest, this character isn't terribly good, so I wouldn't mind playing a 5-9 in low tier with him.

The door is suddenly kicked open by a diminutive figure with bright flame-orange hair and a huge, eager smile. A young gnome strides into the room, a hooked hammer on her back.
"Brangledoodad, this is the Flaxseed Lodge? It's gorgeous! Oh, this place is better than I expected!"
Her eyes take in and reflect the light like twin candles as she giggles.
Brand new character, Level 1 Gnome Bloodrager. I also have Tanariel, Level 1 Core Elf Cleric, available.

The door to the lodge opens up and a friendly looking human walks through. He is wearing blue scale mail and has a throwing shield strapped across his back.
He nods and smiles at the other Pathfinders seated around the lodge and begins shaking hands and chatting with those that he recognizes from around Absalom.
This is a new character. I'm relatively new to PFS (I've played through one PbP game on a different character and am in the midst of his second adventure. I'm enjoying it a lot and hoping to get involved in another game as well.

A large imposing Shoanti woman enters the bar, he skin black and glossy like Onyx and her oncr fiery red hair looking like fire opals cascading down her back. She ducks into the bar to avoid hitting the frame with the weapon sheathed on her back. Grim tattoos depicting Shoanti symbols of death run up her bare arms and face making it look like a skull. She lets out a smile.
"Greetings, is there any work to be had?"

A very large Nagaji enters the and looks around. He wears simple hide armor with a huge club over his shoulder.

"Shadow puppets anyone?" Asks a strange little man and with the help of a lit sconce and his flat hand, a waggle-eared silhouette of a dog's head barks from the surface of the far wall.
Bishop Shepherd

The Andoran ranger and Venture-Captain Bishop Shepard prowls the Grand Lodge campus with a severely reserved elf. They seem to be talking heatedly, but before long they end the conversation on a handshake. The elf heads back to Arliss House, while the ranger collects his horse-sized wolf and heads to the quad to begin recruiting:
"Listen up! I need to make a team to head into Kyonin. I need some seriously skilled ones here as the danger of death is quite real."
Now recruiting for 5-05 The Elven Entanglement (Tier 7-11). I'm definitely running a STANDARD table, and if there's interest, a CORE table. Sign up below, and I'll start Monday 7-Mar-16 (sooner if it fills quickly.)
Both sign ups are on the same sheet HERE.

A golden skinned human with deep brown hair raises his head from the table and empties his tankard before staggering over to the sign up board of the bishop. Signing his name with a flourish he tips the man a wink before staggering back to the bar and ordering another.

"Ok agents! I know it's been a while since I've had a mission for you but today I've got quite the treat: as you know, the Fifth Mendevian Crusade has struck a terrible blow to the Worldwound’s demons and reclaimed lost territory, thanks in part to the Society's support of course! As such, we've earned the right to some exploration in the region. Venture-Captain Jorsal of Lauterbury is requesting a team of agents to accompany an agent personally affected by the demonic tragedies of the region in the hopes that she might learn how to control her... deformities. Come talk to me about the details!" The chipper halfling hops down from his stool and starts mingling about the interested agents.
Hello everyone! I'm recruiting for 07-17 Thralls of the Shattered God for levels 5-9. You can sign up here and I will roll for winners in the next couple days. Thanks and good luck!

The doors for the lodge open and in walks a man in a black cloak that covered his face in shadows. Not being much of a talker, he slides in to a table in the back and watches.

"I need a few brave souls to help clean up the archives", Venture Captain Gallard Stormeye says in partial disbelief as he reads from the ledger he's holding. "Brave and maybe bored."

A Halfling with a wandering eye barges into the lodge. He sidles up to a table in the corner of the room and decants a foul looking brown substance from a vial on his belt into a mug he produces from his backpack. He sips it furtively clearly waiting, muttering unintelligibly to himself.

A halfling clad entirely in black, with an exquisite silver holy symbol of Pharasma, looks up at the Venture-Captain.
"Is that place having troubles again? I just finished cleaning up in there!"
Just played this on Sunday with a local group. Fun adventure, and I could definitely see it being even better in PbP. Highly recommended for anyone who hasn't played it.

I find myself in need of a couple of Core tables... hmmm what to do?
"Listen up! I'm looking for a team of reasonably new recruits who need something local to strut their stuff and build a reputation like mine!" The half-elven Venture-Captain beams a smile. "There's something going at the museum, because, well, there's always something up there. It's not my mission though, you'll have to check in with someone else. Hurry it up though, wouldn't want someone else hogging the glory!"
Recruiting for 00-05 Mists of Mwangi [CORE]. I know it's a popular one, so I'm not sure who still has it available, but it's worth a shot. Looking to start on Monday 7-Mar-16.

In comes a familar looking half orc.
"A museum? Sounds interesting."
Peter Krauss

A medium man answers the half-elf call. He has a brute semblant, his brown hair fills his head and his mistreated beard.
Besides his rude aspect, he displays many weapons on his body - spear, sword, bow, and others. Despite this, his eyes have something strangely different and he sustains a sneering smile.
"More flesh to slice? Good. At a museum? Pretty good. Without haunts? Awesome!"
He gets close to the Venture-Captain, "where I sign?", and smiles to him.
Signed up!

A man of Taldan origin steps into the lodge. He has several notable features, among which his bold sideburns, drab livery and a very nasal and droning voice. "Hear ye, hear ye. Ahum... There has been some poor work done in Katapesh recently, and Venture-Captain Yuul is eager for a team of 'competent' Pathfinders to retrieve a text that the Society has long sought after. (what's new?) Ahem... Her team is nearly full, but she could use one more to round out the team. Previous experience is not required, or so I've been told. Please see me for further details."
After this monotonous declaration the man stays on stage, gazing off into the distance.
I have one more slot open for 7-01 Between the Lines (classic). Please add your name here if you'd like to join. Two caveats: This is my first scenario as a GM in PbP. Second, I'd like a sixth player that has no prior knowledge of the scenario, since a couple of the reserved seats have GM'd it previously.

A bronze skinned Varisian man perks up from where he had propped himself upon the bar at the promise of a bit of work to alleviate the periods between being drunk and sober. Looking down at his tunic and seeing it stained with cheap wine, he tugs his sleeves twice and his clothes are instantly swapped with fresh ones of a fine golden silk tunic and black silk trousers.
"I am sure I can go to Katapesh, Ill bring the big man with me too!"
