Paeter will sigh and pull out his bedroll. "Let's leave early in the morning before she makes more turnip stew." Paeter tells his team.

    Dark Archive

Let's not wait too much and go for the morning.

The night is peaceful and in the morning you feel well rested and alert. The researchers have a hearty breakfast waiting, and are more than eager to help you into armor after the meal. Once you are ready and secure in your gear, Ignizi takes out a scrap of paper, "The clever folks in Tien mastered the creation of this paper. It is amazingly thin! You can make the best rubbings with it! Did you know it is made of rice? To make rice paper grind some dry rice into a fine powder and mix in water to form a paste. Thinly spread the paste over a damp cloth and place over a steaming pot. Cover the cloth to keep the steam in. After a few minutes remove the cover and carefully roll the paper onto a mat, being sure to keep it flat. Put the mat outside to let the paper air dry. After a day or two the paper will be completely dry and ready to use!"

One of the young pathfinder interrupts her master, "Ma'am, I believe you meant to impart something besides the fine art of paper making?"

Ignizi smiles at her companion, "Quite right. There are several landmarks we use around here, so I am going the draw them for you, and put as detailed instructions as possible in order to get you to Riddywhipple!" The gnome sets about sketching out various landmarks, and writing detailed explanations about each on, including the various data they were able to retrieve from each, the locations relative age where appropriate, and various details of random trivia including, but not limited to, the locations average daily sunlight, fauna and flora most likely to be seen, what animals and beasts thrive on that flora and fauna, how much dew can be found on any given morning, and so on. As Ignizi begins work on page seventeen, Marsia (one of the newbies) smiles and begins jotting down her own notes.

As Ignizi begins to work on page twenty three, Marisa hands you a single page with all the information you will need.

"Or, I suppose that will do as well. Nowhere near as interesting, but it will get you to your contact I suppose." Ignizi mutters as her apprentice hands you the needed information.

Falco, always hungering for more information, is quite keen to read all of Ignizi's notes and pockets them with care. Along the way he routinely takes the pages out and tries to confirm her descriptions, particularly about the wildlife and amounts of sun and dew. He adds his own notes and corrections as he sees fit.

    Dark Archive

As the group departs in the early morning, armed with the researchers’ best wishes and instructions on how to find Riddywipple’s log, Paeter leads the way, helped by Dorvhan and Marsia's notes, thus you have no difficulty to find your way into the forest. The directions are fairly simple, leading them to clear landmarks throughout the forest. You manage to locate the log, which is distinguished by a series of distinctive carvings that adorn the trees for twenty yards in every direction.

Although you see no one, you do hear a squeaky voice coming from up ahead, "Riddywhipple is the one you seek then? Find him first you must! Cleverer have tried. Most succeeded! hihihihi!"

The map is up :) I placed your minis. What do you do?

Falco sighs and mumbles to himself in agitation. He calls out, "A game? We've no time for games, just show yourself."

Falco begins working magic that he hopes will reveal the troublesome creature.

    see invisibility

If that doesn't work, he tries detecting magic in the area, walking about blindly. If that fails, he will draw out his scroll of unseen servant and command the invisible force to do the searching for him, being too proud to lift up logs and climb trees in search of Riddywhipple.

Sorry, folks, I forgot to update this thread.

"What? Oooooooooh! You're a friend of Ignizi? I'm too How is she? Did she sent you?" Says the dragon, turning himself visible again. Save your scroll, Falco.
Once visible, he sees a ranger flying towards him, tackling the tiny dragon like the best defensive football player there is.

The small dragon is confused but suddenly laughs and begins to pat Paeter's head with the end of its tail. "Oooooh! Cute! You wanted hugs, after all? She sent you for hugs?"

Falco's eyes go wide at Dorvhan's threat and he promptly removes his quill from the piece of parchment he was furiously scribbling on. "Very well," he says as he places both back in his pack.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

"YISSSSSS! Hugs! Hugs for all!" If Paeter releases him, he will hug you with great pleasure.

After this pleasant moment in the company of the faerie dragon, he eventually opens up and thinks back. "Well, now that you mention it, in the night last night, I flew over to my friendly pixie friend Pollinia, a trixie youngster who lit out with me for a bit of a fly-around, where we chatted about all the happy happenings in the forest as well as some untidy tidings. As it turns out, the carved cave near my pegasi friendlies has a new body that everybody agrees is disagreeable. The old cold cavern used to be used by humans long before long ago, but it’s been empty as a log since then.

“Now it seems an unseemly creature has wandered in from the bit of bog near Wartle and taken to torturing and terrifying the forest. The monster’s name is Marigana, and trappers chased her from her Wartle morass after she kidnapped some napping kids from the town and turned them into deadly undead. Now she’s taken up taking over Sanos, and wants to spread her terrible territory. We can make a joint journey to see the poisonous new occupant, but it will be doubtlessly undeadly. Do you have any questions?”

Good thing I put my quill away. I wouldn't be able to write as fast as this one talks anyways and I would just make a fool of myself trying to keep up. "So Marigana and some undead are plaguing you fortress and probably have our missing person, right? Fine, we will do what needs to be done to accomplish our mission. No hugs though."

    Dark Archive

"No hugs, mister halfling?" says Riddywhipple with a sad face. "Follow me! We'll find first Pegasi! He's a very close friend of mine!"

Riddywhipple answers any questions you may have as you venture north and describes how he heard Marigana looks like, so long as he has a modicum of knowledge on the topic. As your party is approaching the home of his longtime friends, pegasi who might be able to offer assistance in defeating the undead, the faerie dragon guides you over and around several dangerous areas, pointing out traps and pitfalls along the way in case you have to find your way back alone. An overgrown road appears for you to follow until, at last, you reach a muddy, reedy lake surrounded by underbrush and large stones. As the party journey's north, Riddywhipple flits back and forth between party members, eventually settling on Dorvhan's shoulder for the majority of the journey.

As the you approach, you see the silhouette of a statuesque pegasus grazing in the glade. However, as the you grow closer, you notice that the pegasus is covered in deep wounds and dried blood, and that he grazes not upon grass, but upon the carcass of a fallen creature.

"... and that's when I met Pegasi and we decided to become besties. He's a very kind pegasus, you know and.... Oh noooooooooo! Not Pegasiiiiiiiiii! My bestiiiiiiiiiiiiiie!" Riddywhipple looks shocked and falls on the ground rolling, weeping loudly and profusely on the floor from his little dragon fairy's eyes.

    Knowledge Religion against Pegasiiiii!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Any DR? Not with that roll...

    Trident @ Pegasiiiii!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

As Paeter fumbles with his trident, he ducks under the wings and tries to swing his spiked shield at the creature, but he seemingly has terrible luck today.

    Shield @ Pegasiiiii!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Both Paeter and Syrak, now enlarged, miss their blow against the staggered pegasus.

    Moved you.

Dorvhan inspires Paeter with Desna's luck while his spiritual starknife doesn't hit the pegasus.
Falco draws his faithful wand of magic missile and shots once at the pegasus' face.
The pegasus bites direly in Paeter's flesh while a beautiful woman comes out of the water, silently and wordlessly.

Something smells fishy lol. The woman's skin has a greenish cast, and her features are slightly distorted.

The woman in the water doesn't answer back. Syrak's glaive cuts nicely through the hard skin of the zombie pegasus but it still stands.

Indeed, I was just waiting for Paeter before boting Falco :)
