Azrael Lackless |
Azrael, still feeling the poison working its way through his blood, walked towards the man.
"i can't help but pray this works..." said the paladin as he put his hand over the man's chest "May the Old Lord be with you"...
Lay on Hands: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4
... and offering some water with the other hand.
"I hate being the bringer of grim news, but this doesn't look good. If you have any last words or a message, I will deliver it. I swear it by my name and my honour. Tell me yours so I give you the last rites, if it is your wish."
Despite being a complete stranger, Azrael never enjoyed seeing a poor soul being snuffed out. The others can easily detect sadness and compassion on his eyes.
Abel The Wanderer |
Let us go, we have to stop this. Sir, leave this place it's dangerous. Abel states Whoever this person is, know's how to use poison and set up effective traps. Every on your guard, there's work to be done...and a soul to be saved Abel noticably more serious.
Seraphina Firedancer |
"I think we're going to need to carry him," Seraphina murmured. "Azrael, do you feel up to carrying him?"
Azrael Lackless |
"Aye." simply says the paladin as he helps the man stand up and lets him place his weight on him. "If you feel like you cannot walk even with help say it. There's no shame in being helped." Azrael tries to comfort the man with a kind smile.
Lanliss Seldlon |
Did they take Gabe outside, or further in the building?
GM Smashomancer |
Azrael hefts the man over his shoulder fairly easily. As it would happen, this guy is much lighter than he looked. They say that blood is thicker than water. The ragged fellow makes a weak attempt to return the Paladins smile, but he's interrupted with a cough of blood.
"*hrk* My name is Sulivan. They pulled Gabe out. Out of here. He was-he was on the top... Sorry, I can't think quite right. Guys traps do a hell of a job. I knew where they were but the other people came from no-where. Were they outside? ...No. You don't look lik eyou've seen them. Who sent you? Tora doesn't seem like the type to send someone else to fetch..." Sully seems to be losing his train of thought.
GM Smashomancer |
"The brain... still up..." His eyes widen briefly. Sulivan convulses and shudders before coughing up yet more blood. It's on Azraels armor now.
"Four. Three were short... Had masks. One my height... didn't speak. Threw me through the table. I think... a mask too... couldn't really be his face?" He indicates the table in the corner of the room. Half of it is now crushed, but it looks like it was sturdy until not too long ago. There's also something solid and metal sticking out of the debris.
It seems the party has a few options now. Do you bring him with you further into the site? Do you take a detour to bring Gabe out of the building? If so, where do you take him? Do you leave him in the fairly safe room? This buildings appeared unoccupied so far.
Seraphina Firedancer |
Moving over, Serephina looked at the sold and metallic looking thing to see what it was, and if it explained the mans condition. She took a peek at the rest of the table too, to see if anything of interest lurked there.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Seraphina Firedancer |
"Some kind of gun," she murmured. Looked like it was a meeting that became an ambush. She glanced at the others, waiting to see if they were taking the man out, leaving him here or taking him with them as they explored.
Lanliss Seldlon |
Lanliss comes up with a plan. One person could stay here with Sulivan while the rest of us go further in.

Assuming we're gonna do an:
"Already sold it off..." As he shrugs, you get the feeling he isn't being entirely honest. The shorter three of the quartet lunge at him with practiced speed. They restrain and gag him through his relatively pitiful struggles and muffled screams for help. They quickly knock him unconscious As the group turns to leave, they pass within inches of the transposed face of the adventurous librarian.
The tall one slowly turns his head. What follows is unclear.
Some kind of twisted chitinous visage.
A whirling sensation.
A loud boom.
Blood.
Side note: I like how post #666 was "Stop being creepy man."
Abel The Wanderer |
This sounds like a group, most likely a cult of some sort. .We should help him somewhere fairly safe quickly and then continue our search, more people are at risk.
Azrael Lackless |
I wouldn't like to miss on the thrilling whirlwind of fails that a combat would be, but being the resident paladin -and a poisoned one to boot- if the plan is to leave him behind with someone to watch over him I will volunteer. Keep in mind, tho, that you'd miss on your 'tank' of sorts. Also, maybe it's because I'm sick and sleepy but rereading the posts I can't find anything regarding Lembe abandoning us after we dismounted the carriage... If that's the case we could leave the poor fella with him.
GM Smashomancer |
Alrighty then, we're off.
In a co-operative effort, multiple people in the party decide to help the wounded man down the last two flights of stairs they had passed. As luck would have it, there don't seem to be any remaining traps in the space that's been covered.
Once outside again, the rain drenches each member of the group, washing some not yet dried blood off of Sully. After rounding the corner to where your driver parked, you see him backed against the front of the car, accosted by three men. Maybe it's the rain, maybe it's the worried look and impending beating, but Lembe looks fairly scrawny now that you see him next to some large "gentlemen".
Azrael Lackless |
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Not one to let injustice happen during his watch, Azrael quickly reacts by frowning, grunting and grabbing his scythe's staff.
With alacrity he hadn't shown in recent times, the paladin charges forward and brings the scythe on the closest thug, keeping the blade backwards.
"I am the people's keeper and I shall not allow you to harm anyone, you knaves!"
Surprise charge! Actually, if it's a surprise round it'd be a partial charge as a standard action... but I'll draw the weapon as part of said charge no matter the type of charge...
Anyway, lo and behold!"
Power Nonlethal Scythe: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 = 15
Damage: 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (1, 2) + 7 = 10
And Initiative, I guess
Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
A high roll now? Well, I won't complain.
GM Smashomancer |
Well then.
3: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 1) = 7
""Whaddya mean? This ain't one a our people."
Azrael charges an unsuspecting poor man, striking him in his exposed collarbone. Context is important people.
"Porca puttana!" Lembe reacts with surprise at the paladins sudden surge. He hurriedly looks back and forth between the other two men near him. They've turned around to face Azrael. This turns out to be possibly a terrible mistake, as the feline creature moves his hand just a bit further under the hood and in one motion he whips both his left arm and the pipe it's now holding between the legs of one of the other hoodlums.
"OI, 'EY! What're ya- *HRK*" The impact pushes him off of his feet and onto the ground knee's first, with a wet thud and gagging.
Surprise round over. Initiative everybody.

Seraphine winced at the blow to the groin. "I'd suggest ice on that, before the swelling does something...permanent."
Initative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
GM Smashomancer |
Gonna have to bot Lanliss for now to keep things going. Also, Abel; I believe your initiative should be a +8 between the dex bonus and Improved Initiative. Where is the other +1 coming from?

Sorry. My post was eaten.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Oh. Oh my. Wow. That has to hurt. So... if you guys are planning to have kids later... maybe stand down.
Lanliss swings his rifle towards one of the thugs. A ball of acid launches out from the barrel, and sizzles on the ground in front of one of the thugs.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Azrael Lackless |
Azrael moves closer to one of the thugs and speaks loud an clear "I will give you one chance to surrender and leave this place unharmed, be wise and heed my words for I won't pull any punches!"
The paladin stands waiting, ready to strike some teeth in with the shaft of his scythe at the slightest hostile action.
Readying an action to power attack non-lethally if they do something hostile, which is anything but saying 'I surrender' and leaving with his unballed friend.
Readied Power NL Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Damage: 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (2, 2) + 7 = 11
Abel The Wanderer |
i have a cracked dusty rose ioun stone, i think it's from that. Also i do the same asm Azrael minus the power attack part
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Lanliss Seldlon |
Ignore the second perception roll, that was a mistake.
GM Smashomancer |
Oh, I see, I didn't notice the equipment list. Doesn't non-lethal mean pulling punches?
While the thug furthest to the party's right begin's trying to get on his feet, the center thug continues to resist... unwisely. Even Seraphina in the back can hear his teeth crack. Thug 2 goes down.

Round 1

Gwynn Will bot if no post tomorrow.
Lembe

Thug 3

Worth noting, it's a good thing you didn't crit this time. He'd be flat-out dead.
Seraphina Firedancer |
Seraphina focused her power, enhancing the weapons of Azrael, Abel and Gwynn.
You're all now considered to have +1 weapons. This does not stack with any enhancements your weapons already had, if anyone had a magic weapon, but applies to any natural weapons or unarmed attacks.
Gwynn Cleary |
Gwynn elects not to shoot first, and instead chooses to cast Charm Person, pulling a ruby-red bell from her person and ringing it. Let's see if I can't make a buddy. She said, hoping to get at least one of them to lay down their arms for her.
Targeted at nearest unharmed or least harmed villain. They gain a +5 bonus on the save do due combat.
GM Smashomancer |
1d6 ⇒ 2
Gwynn tolls the teeny tiny bell talentfully and the thug on the left seems to have a sudden shift in his behavior. Now, he seems in shock from the sudden conflict.
"Wait, hon!? These guys with you?"
While Lembe grunts and lunges at the guy he "incapacitated" moments ago with the lead pipe in his hands, shouting in his native language. Lembe and Thug 1 are grappled.
