Lanliss Seldlon |

Lanliss gets down on his hands and knees and searches the floor for any mechanism that could trigger the trap.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

GM Smashomancer |

On the other side of the Portcullis, Lanliss spots a difference in height between two of the floor boards under all of the paper matted into the wood. Probably a pressure plate.
Gwynn gives Abel a confidence boost.
Seraphina? Abel? Need actions. Important information: Azrael is no longer blocking his self-made doorway.

Seraphina Firedancer |

Serephina continued to enchant the weapons, and moved to look. There wasn't much else she could do and maintain the spell.

Abel The Wanderer |

With the trap still active Abel can only attempt to move the portcullis again
strength: 1d20 ⇒ 9
going to try a strength check again, and free action to maintain inspire courage

GM Smashomancer |

1d4 ⇒ 2
1d3 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + (4) + 1 = 8
Seraphina and Abel maintain their respective contribution attempts.
As the remaining bot re-enters the room it dropped from with another *Fwip*, the blur of the large axe heads is almost impossible for Azrael to react to. And yet, he emerges unscathed by the two strikes, and the axes retract into the ceiling once more.

That was close, Lord protect me
goes through Azrael's mind as the axes swing without slicing him and retract again. His knuckles go white from the strength with which he holds his scythe,
yet he moves towards the pesky spiderball and spinning the sycthe he twists and shouts strikes.
Power Inspired Magic Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 1 = 26
Damage: 2d4 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1, 2) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 12

Lanliss Seldlon |

Lanliss points to the pressure plate. There! He stands up, and aims his rifle towards the spiderbot. A ball of ice shoots from the barrel. touch attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
damage: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3) = 14

GM Smashomancer |

I'm assuming that's a cast of Snowball? Please reference the spell in particular somewhere in your posts in the future.
The combined force of Gwynn's lead, Azraels steel and Lanliss'... snow thoroughly destroy the second tiny metal automaton.
However. As Azrael closes in on the target for his swing, he follows it into the room. After the remains of the spiderbot skid along the floor, he is able to see the door in the ceiling from which these two came out.
Combat over. For now. If you'd like a GM recommendation, remember that Azrael opened a hole to fit through, which is currently still open. Furthermore, the ax trap does't seem to go off every round that someone is in the hallway.

Seraphina Firedancer |

"...is it the weekend already?" Serephina asked. Considering, she added, "Oh, you mean the hole in the fence. Yes, we should probably head through."

Seraphina Firedancer |

"Check the rooms, then come back and try the portcullis? We might find the mechanism if we look." It wasn't likely, but you never knew.

GM Smashomancer |

A cursory inspection reveals a lever on the far wall in each room. The lever in one room is unpainted steel, slightly rusted like the portcullis metal itself, and one given a coat of green on the handle.
More inspection shows a smattering of old illegible newspaper in each room, and some furniture. A large dresser sits in the room with the rusted lever, while an intact mirror sits in the room with the green handle.

Seraphina Firedancer |

"Well doesn't this smell like a puzzle of some kind?" Serephina murmured, looking around. She examined the mirror, and if it looked safe, turned it so she could see the handle.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

GM Smashomancer |

There are some scattered clothes to be found. Some jewelery of minor worth as well. In addition Lanliss finds a pair of cinderblocks in the bottom drawer, given away by the loud scraping as the drawer comes open. A claw hammer in the top drawer with a faded label.
Doesnt seem like much.
A lovely polished brass and pearl ring, and plain, but authentic gold necklace are worth 100 GP on the market.

![]() |

"Mmmh... there's another option." mentions Azrael as the party inspects the levers "There's a door, on the ceiling. The robots came from there..."

Seraphina Firedancer |

"I suppose we can try squeezing," Serephina said, looking at the door, "But we should probably try the levers first."

Lanliss Seldlon |

Yeah, we should do that... Lanliss says distractedly. He fidgets with the jewelry. This looks like its worth something... He puts it on the floor and takes the cinderblocks. Why are these here? He looks over them. Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

GM Smashomancer |

The cinder blocks don't seem to be anything unusual, save for the potential "cement shoes" visual pun whomever placed them might have been going for. However, after removing them for inspection a panel pops up from under them, and a secret compartment clicks open in the front of the drawer. There's a letter inside.

GM Smashomancer |

Looking at Object Reading again, it seems you have the choice of what to learn about the objects holder. Would you like a “glimpse of the creature’s appearance”, “a brief vision of what it saw while using the item” (What I think I assumed you always chose. The conversation), or “its emotional state when it last used the item?” I ask because this time it may be pertinent.

Lanliss Seldlon |

Lanliss gulps, reaches into the secret compartment, and quickly takes the letter.

GM Smashomancer |

"Look, I left this letter back here because I knew you'd end up back here at some point. I just hope the old dresser doesn't get smashed to pieces by one of those drunk idiots.
Please, Gabe. I don't know what these people are offering you to go back, but we don't need it. The church is taking care of us. Please come back."
-Lissy

GM Smashomancer |

Gwynn sees a young elven woman absent-mindedly twiddling the hammer in her fingers. She's leaning against the wall, looking out to the street.
The woman herself is hiding her face with a mask, but her green eyes still stand out. the rest of her clothing is non-descript and conservative. An ornate and well-made dark blue dress and a closed parasol are also visible.
Along with a symbol of the Elven house Vilendross.

Lanliss Seldlon |

Lanliss points out the letter to the others. It's a plea to come back, written by Lissy, which I'm assuming is Celiss. Not very useful now,but could help us persuade Gabe if required. Lanliss folds up and pockets the letter.

Abel The Wanderer |

Something did seem off about her, something seems odd about this entire situation. I have this feeling someone might be lying or holding back information, perhaps it is just simple paranoia.

![]() |

"Perhaps... I'm not sure... the poison clouds my judgement." answers Azrael before resting against the wall "We should try the levers, we must keep going."

Lanliss Seldlon |

Yes, let's do that. And hope it doesn't get me killed somehow.... Lanliss walks upto the green handle and pulls it.
