Sorry not to be immediately helpful, Stanley, but Iolana's an ex-slave and she just doesn't react well to worshipers of Asmodeus...:S
HOWEVER, you can definitely convince her to leave off if need be (and she won't go against the decision of the whole group)!

Sorry for my recent silence. I have a business trip coming up next week and have been trying to prepare. I promise I will post tomorrow. I may have more time for posting next week depending on how good the wifi is at the hotel (since I will have nothing but time at the hotel).

DM_Darkmeer |

I'll be honest, all, I have had some family emergencies come up. My middle child has pneumonia, and my posting time is not all it needs to be to keep pace. I will post again on Tuesday evening, but that will be my FIRST opportunity to post in the game thread. I've started twice, but not been able to complete due to that.
Be well, and take care of yourselves. I will be back soon.

Iolana Banderosi |

Hope everything goes all right for you, Darkmeer! We'll be here whenever you're ready to come back. In the meantime, be with your family. :)

DM_Darkmeer |

So... life isn't going easily. 2x 12+ hour days at work... yay, right when I was supposed to be posting.
Anyhoo, my son is better (ish?) now, no longer pneumonia. Back to work for him! That's good. I've an exam on Wednesday that I have to devote a lot of time to. I will be studying intently for the next few days. My next post will be Thursday. I hope everyone wants to stay tuned, despite the appearance of a possible TPK in the near future... this was the worst case scenario for the party "diplomacy" with "fanatics" doesn't usually work :(

Iolana Banderosi |

I agree. Screw this liberation crap, let's be the well-funded oppressors. :P
(Unless you're serious in which case, I dunno, maybe? Is there a Hellknight order that work with this campaign??)

ColgrimBarrelhouse |

Order of the Scourge Searches out corruption
Order of the Chain
Plus Order of the Gate and Godclaw. It is Rack that gives everyone trouble.

Iolana Banderosi |

Iiiinteresting. Darkmeer should have last say over whether that's viable (I note that a lot of that info comes from later chapters of this adventure, so they may feature). If so, I wouldn't mind giving the Order of the Scourge a spin, but I'm pretty easy.

Iolana Banderosi |

Certainly agreed! I'm hoping that we all get out of this (and Iolana learns a valuable lesson about sticking with her friends and fighting as a team rather than haring off after the boss villain on her own). But it's an interesting academic question...

DM_Darkmeer |

All: My next post will likely be Tuesday. This week... thank you holidays... and another unexpected LONG day at work (Christmas Eve, no less), has put me into an unpleasant spot at home, so I'm fixing that and then getting back to the game... Things appear to be turning around for the party... you're down to Spellcasters, undead wolves, and then the leader of the Tieflings.

DM_Darkmeer |

All: Just checking in to make sure we're not boring Byron, Leeka, and Iolana to tears. I hate PbP combat for that reason, but this one is almost over and it appears that the party will survive to fight another day.
Please all PC's who are unconscious post to tell me you're bored or at least following this. I'm trying to post as quickly as I can (sadly 1/day right now), as this combat is a VERY long that had MANY combatants to start.
Soon, we can get back to PbP style RP... there's going to be a lot of it and a definite leveling up.

Iolana Banderosi |

Still loyally following along! Just running out of ways to creatively post, "Iolana is stable but still lying unconscious on the floor." :P
And we did sort of trigger all the encounters at once (I think) so don't feel bad about the mega-battle...I'm just cheering from the sidelines! When this is over, Iolana will have learned a valuable lesson about charging into the fray by herself.

DM_Darkmeer |

The next adventure is a lot of skill and RP checks, along with the "Play" the AP is famous for (and the part I had played in back when the AP was new). It's a lot of fun, but will entail a lot of skill checks and RP opportunities, along with the combat you will expect, although (HOPEFULLY) not a combat like the final encounter in the first installment.
My plan with that is to type in the play as it occurs, putting in the PC actions from their skill checks, if that works for everyone.
As we move to the close of the adventure, how does everyone feel about the pacing, my GM'ing, and other things?
I know I'm a bit stilted here and there... and both life and holidays have beaten me up recently, but I want to make sure everyone's actually having fun with the game.
Also: Everyone may increase their character level to level 3. You survived and kept everyone alive! Great job everyone! Stanley and Veznik get special mention here for quick thinking on the "heal and stabilize" rolls.
Colgrim, Dario, and Byron did splendidly in the combat, doing exactly what needed to be done, Leeka built her confidence and the dirty tricks really did help, IMO (it changed the Tiefling's tactics for sure!). Iolana learned a hard lesson, and also worked to bait the very arrogant Palaveen. I hope to see the scars of this particular outing in the RP opportunities everyone gets in the near future.

Dario Westone |

Colgrim, look at Steel Soul. It only helps vs spells and spell-like abilities, but it gives a bonus to all your saves. It's awesome for dwarves.
The pacing is good, though a large combat like that just drags in pbp. Some people may be more used to maps, but this works as long as people arent relying on precise tactical abilities like AOOs. A little more description in terms of where combatants are in the room could help (i.e. boss is in the center of the room with spellcasters in the northwest and north east corners, etc.)

ColgrimBarrelhouse |

Level up!
hP: 1d10 ⇒ 2 +3 CON +1 FCB=6 (I forget if we use Half+1. In that case,6+3+1=10)
Bab +1
Reflex/Will +1
Armor Training -1 ACP +1 Dex bonus. Move normal speed in medium armor
Skill points: 2
Climb +1 Perception+1
New feat: Steel Soul (+2 saves against spells and spell-like abilities)

DM_Darkmeer |

Colgrim: HP are handled like PFS. Buried in Page 2 for leveling up here are the HP issues, I'll add this to the campaign info tab when I have more time.
Same as PFS, so (to make it simple)
Hit die: HP
d6 = 4+con
d8 = 5+con
d10 = 6+con
d12 = 7+con
Hope that helps everyone.
Re: Maps. I'm getting some prep time for the next set of maps, I'm going to try to make all the maps for the next adventure and that SHOULD help us keep active for future references.
And I agree about a HUGE combat like that. The final combat here took from November 13 to this week to resolve. Running straight to the boss monster is always interesting... but WOW on this one.

Leeka Fullbottle |

Your uncanny aim allows you to disable your opponents without harming them.
Prerequisite(s): Dex 13, Deadly Aim, base attack bonus +1.
Benefit(s): You gain a +2 bonus on ranged combat maneuvers. When you attempt to perform a ranged combat maneuver, you can refrain from damaging the target at no penalty.

Stanley Sydell |

Okay, I broke down the treasure into categories. Speak up for what you want, and we can go through and mark it off. The rest will either be sold or returned to the owners.
A quick metagame note. I have found that the AP's are fairly reliable in giving out gear that can or will be useful later in the AP. So some items we may not want, but may be worth keeping (e.g. Ring of Jumping, Pipes of Sounding, Immovable Rod, etc.) Where some see money on the exchange, I see something we may need in the future.
Armor:
Palaveen's Breastplate (+1 Breastplate)
Masterwork Studded Leather Armor x2
Studded Leather Armor x 7
Masterwork Breastplate
Lightweight, heavy, wooden shield (much lighter than expected) x2
Weapons:
Palaveen's Morningstar (+1 Breastplate)
Masterwork Daggers x2
Light Mace x 4
Rapier x3
Masterwork Shortsword x2
Light Crossbow x8
Masterwork Shortsword
Masterwork Rapier
Magic Dwarven Waraxe
Wondrous Items:
Magical right-handed glove x2
Small magical Cauldron
Ring of Protection +1
Ring of Sustenance
Ring of Jumping
Immovable Rod
Rod of Lesser metamagic: Silent
Dusty Rose Prism Ioun stone
Pipes of Sounding
Cloak of Elvenkind
Consumables:
Potion (Disguise Self)
Wand (Cure Light Wounds 19 charges)
Potions (Cure Light Wounds) x2
Tanglefoot Bag
153 bolts
Scrolls of Cure Light Wounds x4
Scrolls of Invisibility
Scroll of Cure Moderate Wounds
Scroll of Inflict Moderate Wounds
Scroll of Fireball
Other
Unholy symbol
Treasure chest Key
50 wooden coins bearing a hellish Symbol (requires Religion check)
Masterwork scroll case (room for twenty scrolls)
640 gp 75 sp 390 cp
Returned to the rightful owners?:
60pp 500 GP 750 sp and 1000 cp
Lots of small gemstones, including a few pearls
Many pieces of jewelry, some of which likely belongs to some poorer merchant families as heirlooms, given the list above.
Jeweled Shortsword (150 GP)
Stanley would like any of the scrolls that show up on his spell list (to add to his familiar, Vesnik), and maybe the scroll case. Unless someone else wants or can use it, I would imagine he would carry the wand, since he's mostly useless in combat except for healing and Slumbering.

I will defer to you on this, as I am both unfamiliar with the scene, or how it plays mechanically. Since you've played it, and are running it, I'm going to say you have a better grasp on how it will work best in PbP than I do.
As we move to the close of the adventure, how does everyone feel about the pacing, my GM'ing, and other things?
I know I'm a bit stilted here and there... and both life and holidays have beaten me up recently, but I want to make sure everyone's actually having fun with the game.
I am fine with the pace. My days fluctuate. Some I have all day to stare at the screen and hit F5 waiting for updates, others I can't even get on to check. Specifically, I like that you call out when you will respond/update. Sometimes that helps me know whether I need to churn out a quick post right away, or if I have some leeway to get something of more substance in.
Also: Everyone may increase their character level to level 3. You survived and kept everyone alive! Great job everyone! Stanley and Veznik get special mention here for quick thinking on the "heal and stabilize" rolls.
Thank you. As they say necessity is the mother of invention. When things start getting rough, I dig for any little thing that just may help. Vesnik will be getting better at healing, since he can now deliver touch spells for me. I was looking at the Evolved Familiar feat also, maybe get him the evolution for +8 in a skill (heal), or something.
