First: This is not my first rodeo.
Sam is my attempt at a different sort of thief, a frustrated cleric who feels his own hobbit/child like view of life is superior to an organized religion. Studying all religions, he feels he knows more than any one (mirroring my own eclectic views that Eastern philosophy needs to be considered--Budhism/Taoism have existed for centuries prior to Western religion)
He wants to be primarily considered a good person who left the world betten than he was given it.

Yup, Sam's been great! Really opened up some nice RP :)
Agreed as well, nice idea Janna!
Also, everyone's been doing great, I've been having a blast so far, keep it up :D
Damien "Wet" Winters
What about Leo's request for help with the knowledge religion check? Does anyone have that skill?
I think that one will have to wait till Sam gets back to the Inn. I believe he's the only other one with ranks.
Janna - The Storm Maiden
are we waiting on me?
I think we just need to swear in the new deputy. and get our guide released...
Vhillish Quarrelwick
Just a heads up to everyone that I'm heading over to Norway for a Easter break from this Thursday (17th) through to Sunday.
Will likely be off the grid during this time, so DMPC Vhillish as required to keep things ticking over.
DM Grimmy
Ok yeah that was something Lannet had mentioned but I wasn't sure you guys had confirmed it.
Backtracking on the road past the farmhouse where the family died will be the fastest way to get on the Tradeway proper. It's a fair bit longer as the crow flies but will keep you mainly on a road that's patrolled by the sheriffs from Waymarch.
The old farm roads (dotted lines on the color-pencil hex map) are much more direct but no waystations, no sheriff patrols.
DM Grimmy
Damien I know it's a pain with the low-res scan/blurry writing, but see if you can get your bearings on the hex map.
I'm working on that better map I told you about but it's not ready yet.
Fairhill is in Hex 0215.
You can easily see the Tradeway, it's the road drawn as a solid double line in black. West of Fairhill and the river on the Reme side it's labeled "Merchant's Road", East of Fairhill and the river, on the Bard's Gate side, it's labeled "Great Eastern Road".
That's the Tradeway, same one many of the character's would have taken to Reme from Bard's Gate before the adventure began (presumably with a large merchant caravan, which is how people normally travel, for safety).
DM Grimmy
The old farm roads are dotted lines on the map.
You can compare with the map Lannet gave Sam, that's the Fairhill Wilderness B&W Map also linked at the top of the page.
That one covers a smaller area and has no hex numbers but it's nice and hi-res. You can see that the geographic features match up and the distances are the same and everything.
The two maps are just different in art style but they are compatible. Hexes = 6 miles in both maps.
Damien "Wet" Winters
Ok, so when Lannet followed the wizard, did they take the tradeway of the back roads? Tradeway, yes?
In that case it's not a lot longer and will be easier to make it to the right spot. I'm for the tradeway still.

any xp updates from the town? I want to make sure I didn't miss any also.
Damien "Wet" Winters
Ok watches. 8 PC's stretching say 8PM to 8AM? 4 teams of 2, 3 hours apiece? Casters on the ends to ensure they get their spells?
8-11 : Damien, Jerrid
11-2 : Kevezyat, Samduc
2-5 : Vhillish, Astor
5-8 : Janna, Leovan
Objections?
Damien "Wet" Winters
Not at all, the DM's input is always valued.
According to RAW you do need 8 uninterrupted hours to regain spells as an arcane caster. If you be fine allowing it to work the other way I'd certainly not complain though :)

Might want to move one of Vhillish or Astor to the last watch, it's a bit squishy...no offense :)
Janna - The Storm Maiden
watch rotation looks good, Janna getting sunrise watch (I always take that watch)
also Damien wants Janna in his tent? Please we barely know each other, that way <blushes>
Damien "Wet" Winters
Oh spare me your indignity Janna, you're just less of a pain in the ass that some of the others :P
With only two tents, there's no way to separate by gender. Soldiers and hired swords live an immodest lifestyle :)
As to your suggestion Kev, we can swap Leo and Astor easily enough if people want?
Leo, Vhillish, 5am a respectable hour to be certain...unless of course you had to get up in the middle of the night to spend three hours guarding a damn Waystation :P Though I agree, Damien will likely be up taking his morning cup of coffee sometime before 8.
Astor Evisthan
Sorry to chime in so late, but I'm ok with the watch. Thanks for taking care of it!

What about this bit:
Rest: To prepare his daily spells, a wizard must first sleep for 8 hours. The wizard does not have to slumber for every minute of the time, but he must refrain from movement, combat, spellcasting, skill use, conversation, or any other fairly demanding physical or mental task during the rest period. If his rest is interrupted, each interruption adds 1 hour to the total amount of time he has to rest in order to clear his mind, and he must have at least 1 hour of uninterrupted rest immediately prior to preparing his spells. If the character does not need to sleep for some reason, he still must have 8 hours of restful calm before preparing any spells.
Bolding mine.
Jerrid Kinslarn
Hi folks. Hope you all had a good Easter.
As for the watches, maybe Jerrid can go with Astor from 2-5 and Vhillish with Leoven. That starts to balance our perception checks a little too. Janna at +0 then goes with Damien.
DMG that makes the rest vs spells issue much clearer. I never worry too much about that myself as a DM but now you have backed that up.
Cheers

We are hoping to close on the house in about a week, so it's going. It's a bit stressful and at this point we just want to get in there, but we know it will happen. Our original closing date was 5/9, so we're at least getting the chance to close early.
Damien "Wet" Winters
Works for me DMG, with 9 hours to rest we should be all set then. That makes things much easier!
All good suggestions Jerrid. In that case our set up looks like :
8-11 : Vhillish, Leovan
11-2 : Kevezyat, Samduc
2-5 : Jerrid, Astor
5-8 : Janna, Damien
Unless I misunderstand? I think that looks pretty good myself.
Glad things are coming together Astor!

Together again, is it fate?
