ok that sounds good I will be using then the most probably.

HP: 17/34, - AC: 16/T: 12/FF: 14 – Perception +3 - Initiative: +4 - F: +6: R +3/ W: +2(+1 vs Fear) - CMB: +6 - CMD: 18, Speed: 30 Acrobatics +3, Climb +7, Heal +2, Intimidate +2, Perception +4, Sense Motive +7, Stealth +3, Survival +7

Oh, ok. I was just curious because it doesn't say claimed on the loot tracker. Not that I'm necessarily concerned about that, I just wanted to make sure that if I whipped out a masterwork short sword no one's going to be like hey...

I think you are safe, Astor.

Male Half-Elf Arcane Duelist 4 | HP 8 / 34 | AC 17; T 13; FF 15 | CMD 20 | F +3; R +7; W +6 | Init +2 | Per +8

Well generally if no one has claimed it, you should be free to use it for the time being regardless.

But in the interest of propriety, the sword is now updated to you equipment :)

Female Drow Elf Paladin (Undead Scourge) 4 | HP 22/ 42 | AC 19; Touch 13; Flat Footed 17 | CMD 15 | Fort +9; Ref +7; Will +8 | Init +2 | Perception +5 Loh: 1/6 AP:1/3 Spell Resistance: 10

Thanks for sorting all of the equipment out , Damien!!

I figured as much, and thank you as well for taking care of all that! I've never been in a group that was so well organized, definitely a good change of pace.

Male Half-Elf Arcane Duelist 4 | HP 8 / 34 | AC 17; T 13; FF 15 | CMD 20 | F +3; R +7; W +6 | Init +2 | Per +8

Glad to help out!

I'll admit the sheet we're using is a little more in depth than I've usually seen but now that our initial equipment is out of the way it should be fairly simple to stay on top of it.

Male Half-Elf Arcane Duelist 4 | HP 8 / 34 | AC 17; T 13; FF 15 | CMD 20 | F +3; R +7; W +6 | Init +2 | Per +8

Oh man! I was going back to check on the sickle and I noticed something that totally wasn't in the loot sheet and we seem to have missed.

The sickle sizes itself to it's wielder! With this info I assume, Jerrid will want to be wielding it then?

As far as I know, no one ever spellcraft checked it.

Male Half-Elf Arcane Duelist 4 | HP 8 / 34 | AC 17; T 13; FF 15 | CMD 20 | F +3; R +7; W +6 | Init +2 | Per +8

I thought Janna had gone over it while we were trying to identify the pearl of power. I'm certain she was at least asked to do so.

I had asked about it when I went over all our current acquisitions recently. It was generally passed over as identified.

Could just be a miscommunication issue though. If I'm mistaken I can roll to identify it now?

Sam wouldn't mind a light weapon that is enchanted and can be small.

Should have updated my sheet to add a backpack.

Of course man, I just spoilered it with a DC and left it at that :D

I know Jerrid has carried the sickle since the gnoll fight but I don't know if he actually knows how to use it :)

Just depends whether he rolled the spellcraft and looked in the spoiler or not. (Same for anyone else that had acces to it and checked it out.)

Male Half-Elf Arcane Duelist 4 | HP 8 / 34 | AC 17; T 13; FF 15 | CMD 20 | F +3; R +7; W +6 | Init +2 | Per +8

Well I leave it up to you and Jerrid to determine who gets to use it Samduc.

I finished updating your equipment, our slippery halfling is also operating with a medium load FYI.

Sounds like you guys should get a pack-mule or a hireling or something ;)

Damien "Wet" Winters wrote:

Ok, as mentioned earlier though, Leovan is currently carrying a medium load. Doing some initial math, these new purchases will put you at a heavy load. Are you alright with that?

If so, I would highly suggest you attempt to get some medium armor to take advantage of your already limited mobility.

Do not have the money right now. Perhaps one of the stronger party members can carry some stuf ^^

Male Half-Elf Arcane Duelist 4 | HP 8 / 34 | AC 17; T 13; FF 15 | CMD 20 | F +3; R +7; W +6 | Init +2 | Per +8

Damien could probably shoulder 10ish pounds of your gear, though Kevezyat would probably be happier to do so than I?

How far are you hoping to get your weight down?

Male Half-Elf Arcane Duelist 4 | HP 8 / 34 | AC 17; T 13; FF 15 | CMD 20 | F +3; R +7; W +6 | Init +2 | Per +8

What did you update DMG?

Oh and I think we can sell the other shortbow while we're at it. No one has much use for it.

Under Astor's tab I changed his shortbow to a logbow, added 15 gp, and subtracted 75gp.

HP: 17/34, - AC: 16/T: 12/FF: 14 – Perception +3 - Initiative: +4 - F: +6: R +3/ W: +2(+1 vs Fear) - CMB: +6 - CMD: 18, Speed: 30 Acrobatics +3, Climb +7, Heal +2, Intimidate +2, Perception +4, Sense Motive +7, Stealth +3, Survival +7

So I'm not going to lie, I just realized due to the above posts that there were tabs. I didn't really get the whole loot tracker thing and several times during the conversation about it I've been like wtf are they talking about, but I just got it! Now, that being said, their are some accounting errors between my current Hero labs and what my profile says I have... but I'll figure that out later and let you know. That was probably a mistake on my part anyhow. And now that I see the tabs I'm that much more impressed with the hard work!!!

Deep Gnome Rog3/Wiz1 | Init +5| Hits 14/26 | AC22, tch18, fft15 | SR 15 | F +4, R +9, W +5 | darkvision 120ft, low-light vision, Perception +15/+16

Spellcraft roll 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19.

Given the nature of Jerrid is self serving I doubt he would pass it on if he can use it, and with his Str 12 and Int 13 he is actually suited to taking the combat expertise and trip feats. Using the argument that I am roleplaying my character is never a good one though.

However it may be best in the interests of the campaign if we come up with a mechanic to decide who gets an item when more than one character wants it.

Maybe someone neutral rolls off 2d20 for the interested parties, one for Samduc and one for Jerrid and the highest result wins. We could do it ourselves but I believe there are ways to fudge the system.

What do you think?

Male Half-Elf Arcane Duelist 4 | HP 8 / 34 | AC 17; T 13; FF 15 | CMD 20 | F +3; R +7; W +6 | Init +2 | Per +8

I suppose that can work Jerrid. If possible I'd say that whoever can make the most use of it should get it but you would both be equally well served by the sickle.

In that case I'll facilitate the choice :
Samduc: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Jerrid: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Edit : Looks like the Svirfneblin takes it! Arguments over my arbitrary order of the names may now ensue :P

I thought we were going to balance the characters somewhat. But I have no problem making Jerrid our superpower.

.......and that he will compensate for the rest of you with treasure etc for instance.

Don't see that happening but the reverse. I just want us to be aware we have a large disparity in capability.

Male Half-Elf Arcane Duelist 4 | HP 8 / 34 | AC 17; T 13; FF 15 | CMD 20 | F +3; R +7; W +6 | Init +2 | Per +8

I'm not really sure what you mean? The sickle is really the only item of any note Jerrid has received thus far.

You're correct that there is a loot imbalance but that's due to the fact that we really only have 3 items of any note at the moment to split between 8 players...

Once we pick up a bit more equipment we can work on balancing stuff out.

Or are you referencing something I'm just not seeing?

The Exchange

Its no big deal to me, give it to Samduc.

I think he is referring to the advantages Jerrid already has as a deep gnome. SR, spell like abilities and the like.

There will be other gear in time, I'm sure and I can wait.

Cheers

I have no problems with it. Just want to make sure we account for it. I plan on trying to buy magic small daggers at some point.

It actually makes sense to put the best stuff on the character with the best saves and ac.

The sickle?

Peak behind the curtain... A magic sickle was the right treasure value and a good thematic fit for the gnoll since he was out collecting herbs. I think when Jerrid took an interest in the sickle I thought to myself it was a shame he couldn't make good use of it since he also is an herbalist. So I invented the story that the sickle was made by duergar (who often change size) and it had a size changing property. I did that on the spot, I have a habit of doing that in my home game now and then when it seems to enrich things. I just do that here and there when the inspiration strikes me. It doesn't cause problems in my home game but maybe it is not a good idea in PbP?

That is fine. Customizing items for players is cool. Another reason to give it to Jerrid

I would say at home almost half the time when I do that, it ends up in a different PC's hands then I anticipated though :) And I never let on what I had in mind (my players think I would not alter what is in the module that way).

:D

Jerrid keeps the sickle for now. Thanks for giving us an insight into how you DM Grimmy. I agree with not just handing over magic and trying to maintain an air of mystery.

I managed to slip a javelin of lightning into my party recently in a bundle. They kept lobbing them and I randomly rolled for when the bolt flew. Now the party think the second level druid can call lightning.

My time upstairs with Lannet took about five minutes. I think some people actually went shopping and visiting. So I don't think we are close to being together in time.

...you make a fair point. I suppose it's just you guys, Kev and Janna around at this point?

Perhaps the rest of us should roll to spot you while we're out? How do you want to do this DMG?

I just thought it was a funny image, the two halflings making their escape. I probably should have made it a perception DC to notice in hindsight.

:D

So, we going to recon Damien and Vhillish's actions out of existence ?

I was thinking we just play it forward from here?

Maybe some sort of cut scene to allow Sam and Lannet whatever spying they hoped to do?

I guess we could have had the inevitable hobbit second lunch to consume the time.

Creating a disguise takes 10-30 minutes of work so the timeline works out pretty well I think.

male--hp =12/28--AC19/touch 15/ff14 Appears as small human youth Rogue 4(burglar)/Init: +10--Perception: +10(+11 traps)/F +2; R+7; W+2 CMD 15

First, I was under the impression we weren't dropping into the middle of a crowded square from an inn window. I sorta pictured a back alley. But if so, I guess that makes the plan the more bold.

Tolkien lore has hobbits as most difficult to see and hear, so I didn't envision everyone being able to spot hobbits trying to be secretive so easily.

I planned on staying in for the night, but when everyone was exploring town and running around, I thought it was time to do something.

Back alley sounds good and makes sense looking at the map.

The crowd in the central market seemed a good place to make yourself scarce?

Just my way to be sure you get a chance to do some spying around if you want since I forgot to spoiler the post about you dropping past the window with a perception DC.

Let me know if that solution satisfies you mr samduc, it was just an oversight on my part. I am keen on the professor too :)

I guess the excursion time is coming to an end. If we want to handwave the reunion, that is fine with me.

Male Half-Elf Arcane Duelist 4 | HP 8 / 34 | AC 17; T 13; FF 15 | CMD 20 | F +3; R +7; W +6 | Init +2 | Per +8

Ok, so I have to admit I'm a little unsure of where myself and Vhillish are on the current festivities?

Are we still heading out into the market after the halflings, or would we still be shopping or likely back at the inn? I'm cool with any of them, just a little unsure of where to work from?

The Exchange

Urban adventures and inventive players can be a nightmare for a DM. Recently I have come to realise that I prefer to run games that are more prepared and goal orientated. Luckily I get to see a great DM in action and he is very good at handling full on roleplaying.

cheers

There's always something to do! Chat with people, get a pet as us veterans have. Pick up some habitual things you can spend your time on, lots to do :)

is it me or what i cannot understand jerrid. it sounded like he said Samduc gave away the amulet?

Also it doesn't help that I screwed myself in the first part. (I think that DMG knows what I am talking about), it just seems that ever since then, things feel different.

Heck I am wondering where we are heading next, I hope we are still looking for the keep/wizard tower.
