I've got the crunch and basic background done for a Human Fighter. Lawful Neutral, over time he will slip to lawful evil, likely just as a result of how he handles things. He's a Hellknight Aspirant, so I definitely want to prestige into Hellknight Commander from 6 to 15 most likely

Maeglin Starcaller |

Yeah that's the sense I'm getting! Hellknight isn't too bad a PrC as those go either

Maeglin Starcaller |

I'm for sleep then hideout. It'll let me change my spell loadout too

The GM needs to enter the campaign settings and remove the incorrect alias as a current player.

Hey I was starting to plan level 2 and had a question. Can I buy a rank in a background skill one level, then use a normal class point to buy a rank the next? Or is it, once background skills are selected, only background skill points can be used on them? The rules say background skill points must be spent on background skills, but don't say if normal skill points can be used on background skills.
Sorry haven't used BG skills before. If thats the case I guess I need to label my BG skills to keep track of them.
edit: nevermind, found the answer "Characters can expend their regular skill ranks on background skills if they desire"

Hey guys, just to let you know, I've started a recruitment for Reign of Winter if any of you are interested!

Lackspell |

Excuse me for butting in here folks but have any of you heard anything from ElegantlyWasted (Maeglin Starcaller) recently? He just stopped posting about 2 weeks ago and I'm wondering if anyone here knows him IRL and can confirm that he's ok?

Guys, we are probably still a ways away from it, but with Maeglin seemingly gone I was thinking of multi-classing to wizard next level and eventually perhaps arcane trickster. I'd pick up some utility spells/battlefield manipulation type stuff that might complement Any and give me more of a combat role. What do you think

Nilelane |
Going to stick it out as Unchained Rogue I think, I'm really enjoying the flank minigame with melee sneaks. If I can use wands to increase my mobility options and/or shape the field that would be some good stuff.

Have a good trip GM!

Also Cal, its like:
a)Cal advances and attacks target from 10 ft away.
b)Target 5 ft steps forward and full attacks Cal.
c)AoOs???
Getting AoO's seems hard; it would only seem to happen if they were farther away, and you would constantly need to be retreating so they have to move more than 5 ft to get to you? Or I am probably overlooking something obvious.

hp: 1d10 ⇒ 1 taking 6 then
+1 BAB, +1 CMB, +1 CMD, +1 stamina
+1 Fort
+ Dodge (bonus from fighter)
+ Combat Expertise (bonus from lore warden)
Skills +8 points (2 base, +2 Int, +2 Lore Warden, +2 background)
Adventure Skills:
+1 Acrobatics
+1 Diplomacy
+1 Knowledge (local)
+1 Knowledge (religion)
+1 Perception
+1 Swim
Background Skills:
+1 Handle Animal
+1 Knowledge (geography)
@Nilelane: The scenario you proposed is indeed true, but it is far from optimal since Callanniel needed to move in. When back in town, my intention is to grab a cestus so Cal can wait for the enemy to come, get an AoO, attack in close range with cestus and move away tumbling, repeating the process. Actually Cal's build is more like a late-bloomer since he'll be getting combat patrol in the future.
Also, when there are more enemies things get better since Cal will be able to threaten almost every single square around you all, making any movement a trigger for his AoOs.

Nilelane |
Also another thing, I took the rogue talent Bleeding Attack to force spellcasters that have been sneaked to make a concentration check and to bypass DR. I could instead take "Slow Reactions". This makes any sneaked enemy unable to make AoOs for 1 round and would mean you could make combat maneuvers without improved X feats or provoking, what do you think?

Corrin Whisperwind |

Do you roll for animal companions HD or do the Auto half + con modifier? Ive seen it done both ways mostly just curious.
hp: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
dewdrop in case we roll: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
HP++7 (1/2+1+con+favored)
BAB +1
Fort +1, Will +1
Skills +5
+1 Climb for a total of +4
+1 to heal
+1 to knowledge nature
+1 perception
+1 Survival
Background Skills : Craft Weaponry +1, Handle Animal +1
Spells
0 level - 4 total
1st level - 2 + 1 wisdom bonus total
Druid skill - Woodland Stride (Ex)
Starting at 2nd level, a druid may move through any sort of undergrowth (such as natural thorns, briars, overgrown areas, and similar terrain) at their normal speed and without taking damage or suffering any other impairment. Thorns, briars, and overgrown areas that have been magically manipulated to impede motion, however, still affect them
DewDrop
HD 3
BAB +2
Will +1
Skill +1 - +1 perception
Feat - Power attack
To be honest Dewdrop will eventually be good at flanking and a little battlefield control with things like improved bull rush, improved over run etc, At least that was my plan for him.

@Nilelane: Sorry, completely forgot to answer your question regarding your rogue talent! I believe Slow Reactions could be pretty useful but there is no need for you to take it right now IMO. Since Cal is a Lore Warden, he will get a pretty good bonus on level 3 for combat maneuvers so I think you could wait a little longer!
