The Beast & the Harlot: Dragoncat's Curse of the Crimson Throne (Inactive)

Game Master Dragoncat

Current Date: Oathday, 30th of Pharast, 4711 AR

Current Chapter: Escape from Old Korvosa

One would think that having ended the Urgathoan threat to the city, our heroes would be granted more time to rest. But alas, that is not the case. For Queen Ileosa herself has condemned Old Korvosa to a slow death, and is forcing the Korvosan Guard and Sable Company out in favour of a military force loyal to her alone--her Grey Maidens.

She must be removed from the throne, and the man who has the authority to unite the Peerage in doing so is trapped somewhere in Old Korvosa.

Well after Lyla tells the rest of us the details, I think we should get someone in to look for evidence of his crimes before going direct with it.
I should stay outside unless you need the cavalry since they're going to recognize me quickly.

I think our last plan worked... knock knock who's there oh crap!

:D

1, 4, 5... what a terrible sequence of Stealth checks.

Guys, I know Lyla is being reckless, but... yeah, she's reckless. Look at her traits. :P

[EDIT] Turns out I hadn't added the +2 bonus to Dex from reduce person... so her Stealth modifier is +15. Her Dex is 22 right now:

Dexterity: 16 + 4 mutagen + 2 reduce person
Stealth: 1 rank + 8 Size + 6 Dex = 15

GM Who Must Be Feared & Obeyed (Or At Least Bribed With Cookies)

I would like to run something past you:

Would you like it if we switched from the Party Initiative system and went back to the old-fashioned way?

Here's how I'd do it if we did it this way: I roll your initiatives, and the baddies all go on the same initiative result. Those of you who go before the baddies can post their actions in a block, then the baddies, then anyone left over.

What do you think?

Female Human Sorceror (Tattooed) 6 / Black Fire Adept 1 | HP 44 | AC 14 FF 12 T14 | Saves +6/+6/+8 | Init +6 (+10) | Percep +2

I am good with whatever you are comfy with :)

Halfling Alchemist 7/Swashbuckler 1 / HP 56 of 56 / F+6 R+13 W+2 / AC 21.17.15 (-1 AC vs. same size or smaller)/ Init. +3 / Perc +14

I actually prefer the old-fashioned way.

Chelish Inquisitor 8 - HP: 67/67 - AC 24, T:13, FF:21 Fort: +10, Reflex: + 5, Will: +10 Perception: +15 (Effects:)

Yea, me too. Why the change of heart?

GM Who Must Be Feared & Obeyed (Or At Least Bribed With Cookies)

Well, I recently started up a different campaign using the old-fashioned way of Initiative tracking. I found that to be easier to use than the Party Initiative system, and fairer to those players who invested a lot into initiative.

And its less math, too.

Chelish Inquisitor 8 - HP: 67/67 - AC 24, T:13, FF:21 Fort: +10, Reflex: + 5, Will: +10 Perception: +15 (Effects:)

Gotcha. So I assume my domain ability goes back to normal? In which case my default target will be Karri.

GM Who Must Be Feared & Obeyed (Or At Least Bribed With Cookies)

Pretty much, yep.

Dwarven Druid (Urban) 8 - HP: 71/73 - AC 17/T:11/FF:16 Fort: +10, Reflex: +5, Will: +11; Perception: +9

I'm good with individual initiative as well, if that's what floats your boat, GM. :)

GM Who Must Be Feared & Obeyed (Or At Least Bribed With Cookies)

:-)

By the way, can everyone edit the exterior map now?

Dwarven Druid (Urban) 8 - HP: 71/73 - AC 17/T:11/FF:16 Fort: +10, Reflex: +5, Will: +11; Perception: +9

I appear to be able to do so.

GM Who Must Be Feared & Obeyed (Or At Least Bribed With Cookies)

Ouch... bad luck to be Jakob right now.

So just a heads up, I'm going to be camping for the next three days, NPC as you see fit. I'll try to post 1/day but no guarantees.

GM Who Must Be Feared & Obeyed (Or At Least Bribed With Cookies)

Okay then. Thanks for the heads-up.

Halfling Alchemist 7/Swashbuckler 1 / HP 56 of 56 / F+6 R+13 W+2 / AC 21.17.15 (-1 AC vs. same size or smaller)/ Init. +3 / Perc +14

The first roll in my attack has the wrong numbers–I erroneously added the bonuses from Point-Blank Shot and did not subtract the penalties from two range increments). I doesn't make much difference, since I dopped the roll by spending a harrow point, but I just wanted to clear things up. :)

Halfling Alchemist 7/Swashbuckler 1 / HP 56 of 56 / F+6 R+13 W+2 / AC 21.17.15 (-1 AC vs. same size or smaller)/ Init. +3 / Perc +14

Can I retroactively exclude Demitri from the splash area? Lyla has the precise bomb discovery...

GM Who Must Be Feared & Obeyed (Or At Least Bribed With Cookies)

Sure, go ahead.

Sorry about my absence! I was stranded on the autobahn yesterday 'cause the bus had not one, but two flats... :)

Hey folks, don't forget to tie Devargo up or secure him somehow, remember what happened in the last encounter when the bad guy ran away. Also, there are other thugs on the deck, don't let them take Devargo away...! :P

GM Who Must Be Feared & Obeyed (Or At Least Bribed With Cookies)

...dammit, I forgot about them until you mentioned them. Thanks for reminding me. >:)

Since Lyla got Zellara's deck, she doesn't get new magic items until everyone has one. :)

I'm thinking of keeping the scroll to write it in the formula book later (that's still 2 levels away), but Karri can keep it if she wants to use it before that.

GM Who Must Be Feared & Obeyed (Or At Least Bribed With Cookies)

You can use Zellara's deck to identify the magic stuff you missed. :)

I'll be travelling for the rest of June and July. I think I should be able to access the internet most of the time, but if there's any danger of me holding things up, bot me.

Alright then.

GM Who Must Be Feared & Obeyed (Or At Least Bribed With Cookies)

Level up to Level 3!

Done!

Now that I got Precise Shot out of the way, I can start looking at other feats. :)

Chelish Inquisitor 8 - HP: 67/67 - AC 24, T:13, FF:21 Fort: +10, Reflex: + 5, Will: +10 Perception: +15 (Effects:)

And now I actually do damage. Bring on the bad guys. But first I have to check on my daughter. :)

Dwarven Druid (Urban) 8 - HP: 71/73 - AC 17/T:11/FF:16 Fort: +10, Reflex: +5, Will: +11; Perception: +9

So, I'm level three, which means I can now cast masterwork transformation. Everyone form a line to the left, and I'll start upgrading everything.

Not sure what route to go for feats for the next few levels. A few options:

1 - How Ortik Got His Dog Back. Pick up Nature Soul now, then Animal Ally at 5th and Boon Companion at 7th. That gets me a fully charged animal companion at 7th in addition to the two domains I've got. Rather potent, that.

2 - I Choose You, Rocachu! The standard Spell Focus (conjuration)/Augment Summoning chain. By 5th level, I'll be able to summon stronger and hardier boars or wolverines or whatever. But mostly boars. They're bacon on demand.

3 - Can He Build It? Yes, He Can! Item creation feats. Woo. Not the most exciting, but it ends up getting us whatever we need in the end.

Thoughts?

Chelish Inquisitor 8 - HP: 67/67 - AC 24, T:13, FF:21 Fort: +10, Reflex: + 5, Will: +10 Perception: +15 (Effects:)

Palm meet face.

Anyways, I vote 3. We have enough melee as it is for #1 and 2.

Halfling Alchemist 7/Swashbuckler 1 / HP 56 of 56 / F+6 R+13 W+2 / AC 21.17.15 (-1 AC vs. same size or smaller)/ Init. +3 / Perc +14

I like animal companions, and considering the way Ortik interacts with animals, I think it would be a fun addition to the group. I vote 1. :)

Female Human Sorceror (Tattooed) 6 / Black Fire Adept 1 | HP 44 | AC 14 FF 12 T14 | Saves +6/+6/+8 | Init +6 (+10) | Percep +2

1 or 3. I love pets, and I love treasure so both are good. besides, Karri is going to be getting into summoning :-)

Dwarven Druid (Urban) 8 - HP: 71/73 - AC 17/T:11/FF:16 Fort: +10, Reflex: +5, Will: +11; Perception: +9

The more I think about it, I should look at covering areas we lack. Item creation's a good one, since it allows us more options down the road. The other would be in-combat healing, since we're lacking a cleric. I'd also say "ranged combat," but I'm a dwarf druid, so that's never going to happen.

Chelish Inquisitor 8 - HP: 67/67 - AC 24, T:13, FF:21 Fort: +10, Reflex: + 5, Will: +10 Perception: +15 (Effects:)

Yea. I do plan on taking every cure/healing-ish spell to help with that first problem though. Option 2 would help with ranged combat so with that and Lyla, we should be good with ranged combat. I can take craft arms and armor at 5th for people since I basically have the feats I want. Everything else is gravy.

Dwarven Druid (Urban) 8 - HP: 71/73 - AC 17/T:11/FF:16 Fort: +10, Reflex: +5, Will: +11; Perception: +9

Also, I just noticed the druid summoning feats in Ultimate Magic. Moon/Star/Sunlight Summons. If I take that line, anything I summon would beat DR x/silver, x/cold iron and x/magic, in addition to being immune to confusion and sleep, gain Blind Fight, gain a +5 to Perception and Stealth checks in dim light or darkness, and emit light as per a light spell. That plus Augment Summoning and that feat that adds 1 to the result of summoning spells if you're summoning multiple things makes for some rather strong critters. Taking all of those, though, might be a bit of overkill - that's six feats of my ten. I think I'll be taking at least one or two of these, though, so I think my feat this level will be the feat tax - Spell Focus (conjuration). I can decide on the other stuff later, including splashing in some item creation along the way, perhaps.

Sorry for the slow posting, busy week between cancelled travel plans and medical emergency in the family... everything under control for now.
