So... I have a question for the rest of you.
Think we should continue waiting on Jakob? Or should we think about finding a replacement?
The reason I've been kinda sorta putting this off is so Jakob can have an easier time catching up and levelling up before we move on to the next section. But if you guys have other ideas, I'm all ears.
Demitri Severin |
Well this wouldn't be the first time he's disappeared. He was a player in my RoW game and he vanished. I say we move on. I can probably think of a few people to invite. We've made very little progress in the last month.
Lyla |
On the upside... hey, this game has been going on for 8 months! I'm in another game that's entering its third year and we're on lvl 4. Anyway, I'm still fully commited to this one, whenever I can I try to insert the chance to move the game forward in my posts. :)
Right now I feel like we're a little "out of a mission", which may be the reason why this week was so slow, but let's investigate that King's death rumours and see if things get busy.
Dragoncat |
Hey guys, I got a PM from someone who's interested in joining the campaign--contacted me on his own initiative.
Any of you familiar with him? He's the GM for the Wrath of the Righteous game I'm in, and I can vouch for him.
Lyla |
We still haven't divided the loot from Devargo or the reward from Kroft.
Here are the items:
ON DEVARGO
- 2 Masterwork Bladed Gauntlets (which function as punching daggers) - 302 gp each
- A masterwork hand crossbow - 400 gp (that's the second one we've found)
- 20 crowwbow bolts - 2 gp
- Medium +1 leather armor - 1,310 gp
- 1 potion of invisibility
- 1 potion of cure moderate wounds
- 5 vials of spider venom - 150 gp each dose
DEVARGO's CHEST
- 1 jasper studded amulet worth 500 gp
- 1 gold necklace fitted with emeralds worth 600 gp
- 1 mother-of-pearl horn worth 50 gp
- 1 ring of feather falling - 2,200 GP
- 1 scroll of blur
- 1 elixir of love
- 2 pouches of dust of appearance
- 6 sacks of 100 gp each
- 1 vial of dream spider venom
KROFT'S REWARD
- 1 Pseudodragon mark worth 400 GP to each of us
- 1,500 GP
Not counting the items, the total value in cash and jewels is 3,250 GP. I'll ask Dragoncat to check if this is correct and whether we should divide it by four or five, leaving the fifth share for the next player to join.
Check what items you are interested on and then we can sell the rest.
Personally, I want to take the scroll of blur.
Ortik Gutterrat |
I've got access to faerie fire, which isn't quite as good as dust of appearance, but works well enough for my purposes. I don't think I need any of the items myself, if I'm honest.
As for the division, I'd say that the fairest thing to do would be to divide it by five, and give Jakob the fifth share as a parting gift. Assuming the new player has an appropriate amount to build their character, an additional 650 gp shouldn't make a big difference either way.
Edit: By the way, Lyla - any reason you're not taking 10 on the Spellcraft check to inscribe formulae?
Lyla |
Here's what I propose:
SELL:
- 2 Masterwork Bladed Gauntlets (which function as punching daggers) - 302 gp each
- A masterwork hand crossbow - 400 gp (that's the second one we've found, I believe Demitri already has the other masterwork hand crossbow, isn't that correct?)
- 20 crossbow bolts - 2 GP
- Medium +1 leather armor - 1,110 gp (it's a good item, but it looks like no one can/wants to use it).
- 5 vials of spider venom - 150 gp each dose, 650 total
- 1 elixir of love - 150 GP
- 1 jasper studded amulet worth 500 gp
- 1 gold necklace fitted with emeralds worth 600 gp
- 1 mother-of-pearl horn worth 50 gp
- 6 sacks of 100 gp each
- Plus, there's Kroft's reward - 1,500 GP
TOTAL: 4,707/5 = 941 GP, 9 sp each
PS - I don't know how much this costs, but I'd say we sell it: 1 vial of dream spider venom - ?
KEEP:
- 1 potion of invisibility (give to Demitri, so he can scout with Lyla and act as backup)
- 1 potion of cure moderate wounds (give to Karri, so she has a backup cure in case the healers fall. Since she's not melee, chances are she'll be the last one standing if things go bad).
- 1 ring of feather falling (someone please take it, those things are awesome and it would be a shame to sel it for half price).
- 1 scroll of blur (Lyla)
- 2 pouches of dust of appearance (1 for Karri and 1 for Lyla)
- 1 Pseudodragon mark worth 400 GP for each of us
Karri Chouk |
Karri can take the Ring of FF. At least most of the rest of the party can either take the damage or mitigate it ;)
Also, the Leather Armor would be not terrible. +3 AC, 10% Spell Failure, and 15 lbs against her mediocre (Str8) weight limit... :/
DC: What is your ruling for potions to unconscious characters? If Karri had the Pot CMW could she use it on an unconscious friend?
Demitri Severin |
I don't have the other masterwork hand crossbow, at least I don't think I do. You can add that to the sell list. Otherwise it looks good. And ditto on getting the CLW wand. As I can make it work with a higher rate of success. Just a little higher. :)
Dragoncat |
@Karri
Karri could certainly use the potion on an unconscious friend.
And yeah, a wand of CLW would go far in keeping the party healthy. ;)
Actually, Demitri, you could make a CLW wand work consistently, as could Ortik or Lyla.
CLW's on all your spell lists. Well, except for Karri.
Lyla |
Ok, Karri takes the armor and the ring.
Ortik and Demitri are next in the "cool magic item" queue. ;)
Since we're not selling the armor and everybody agrees on purchasing a wand of CLW, we are down to 680 GP, 4 SP each.
Now we only have to decide who keeps the wand. Other than that, please add the items to your sheets. :)
Karri Chouk |
Please sell the armor... we can get more bang for the buck by selling it :) A MW Breastplate for Demitri would be better :)
For the Dust, sell one. Let either me or you take the other dose.
(I am old enough to remember Gygaxian adventures where if you were given some obscure, esoteric loot it was given for a *reason!*)
Lyla |
Ok, so our total is 971 gp, 4 SP each, and we now have the following items:
- 1 potion of invisibility (Demitri)
- 1 potion of cure moderate wounds (Karri)
- 1 wand of cure light wounds, 50 charges (?)
- 1 ring of feather falling (Karri)
- 1 scroll of blur (Lyla)
- 1 pouch of dust of appearance (Karri)
- Pseudodragon marks
GM Niles |
Hey guys,
I am the player that Dragoncat mentioned in an earlier post. I'm very interested in playing in this campaign. Firstly because I know the GM and can count on him not to drop out, which has been the case in the last few PbPs I've joined. Secondly because I've heard nothing but awesome things about this AP and its an urban based one, unlike most others.
I have a few questions for you guys regarding my character background.
1) Would a character whose focus is capturing criminals and collecting bounties be at odds with anyone? I'm thinking of a LN "bounty hunter" lawbringer type...
2) How do you guys feel about the ACG classes?
3) Are there any specific things you want from a new addition? Crunch or fluff?
Demitri Severin |
1) That depends. Lawbringer is fine, Punisher may be at odds.
2) Most of the classes are fine, im guessing you're going to be a slayer which would be ok. I just dont like swashbuckler or warpriest.
3) Just be able to work with the party, fluffwise or crunch.
Karri Chouk |
Hello and welcome :)
1) No, and it would add some extra "motivation" without being overbearing. Punisher might be at odds with Demitri, but Karri wouldn't care ;)
2) Ambivalent. As an *old* player (Red Box Old) it seems like the ACG wants to cover too many multiclass archetypes with simply *Better* single classes. Most of the Hybriding it is trying to accomplish can be done with other classes (Ranger, Paladin) or by splashing (Rogue into Fighter, etc).
3) What he sed: just be able to work in a team :)
Lyla |
Hey there! Let me chip in with my two cents:
1) Personally, one of the things I like about this group is that it's kind of light hearted, in a sense that there are no murder hobos in the party (only the Legion inside Karri's head, but it looks like she can take care of it). So If we're talking about a vigilante type, I would be ok with a Daredevil or Batman, not so much with a Punisher. If you check our combats you'll notice that many of our enemies are captured alive and there's plenty of nonlethal damage going around.
2) I'm ok with that, though I haven't really read the ACG classes.
3) Yup, someone whose presence is not disruptive and who can work with the party and has a motivation to do so.
Ortik Gutterrat |
Hello there, GM Niles!
1) That'd be fine with me - Ortik's got no problem with the law. He obeys the just ones and ignores the unjust ones. A bounty hunter wouldn't be too offensive to him at all, so long as he isn't indiscriminate with his selection of bounties.
2) I'm good with the ACG classes, myself. I'm looking forward to making a brawler for online PFS play, as I have a fun concept for him. I'd rather someone be excited about the class they're playing than ho-hum about the class they had to settle for.
3) Mechanically, we'd need someone for melee. Jakob did a great job of filling that role, but we're now missing a heavy hitter. Inquisitors are awesome (play one in PFS, myself), but they don't hit hard without bending the class a bit. Mechanically, someone who supports us in the areas we lack is what we need. Narratively, we've all got a connection in our shared hatred of Lamm, and that's what brought us all together. Maybe you have a connection to one or two of us (positive for one and complicated on the other), to add to the drama!
Glad to have you aboard!
Nalun Elzrahar |
Here are the basics that I have in mind
Nalun is a tall slender brown haired human. He typically wears crimson and white colored garb embroidered with gold braid. He wouldn't be considered handsome by most members of his race but he does not care much. He has a deep respect for the law, especially the idea of the Law holding back chaos and anarchy. Nalun is rarely caught without a smile, so while he may have a penchant for legalism he understands that the law has its faults and doesn't take himself too seriously.
Nalun is a Chelxian born in Korvosa. Nalun was born to common parents but his propensity for violence, especially once his father was fasely accused of a crime, led him to join the Korvosan Guard. However, his run in with some overzealous Hellknights cost him a commision he could ill afford to lose so could not continue his training. Nalun felt a call to venture north into Varisia collecting bounties on the truly evil or criminally insane. He returned forthwith upon hearing of his sometime lover Trina Sabor being accused of killing the King!
With his background in the Guard he could have ties to Demitri
Questions?
Suggestions?
Also, I haven't chosen feats yet....or items, and I keep dithering between LN and LG for his alignment, I know it isn't a big deal but I see him as mostly LN with some LG tendencies.
Nalun Elzrahar |
I promise I'll have the rest done by the end of the weekend. The school year just started and I'm a principal so needless to say I've been pretty busy. Thanks for waiting for me!
WBL as normal for 3rd level? Anyone have suggestions for feats? Also I think I might buy the ACG pdf soon and update from there.
Demitri Severin |
I'm not completely sold on sanctified slayer yet, but it seems cool. It replaces all my judgements for the slayer's favored target, some sneak attack and a few slayer talents. I'm really like Intercept Charge though.
Intercept Charge (Combat, Teamwork)
You can get in the way of an opponent charging your ally.
Benefit: When an opponent charges your ally with this
feat, as an immediate action you can move up to your speed
toward any square in the path of the charge. If you end
your movement in the path of the charge, the opponent
must stop when it becomes adjacent to you and then attack
you instead of your ally. Your movement from using this
feat counts toward your movement on your next turn.
Ortik Gutterrat |
It's a Teamwork Feat so I'd swap out Precise Strike for it. I'd lower my damage for the ability to protect team-mates which I think would be more appropriate.
Quoted for posterity. This marks the first time an inquisitor has ever taken a teamwork feat other than Precise Strike as their initial bonus feat. ;-)
