Krays |
Krays is somewhat taken aback by Asch's unbridled aggression, with all the blackness roiling around and reacts reflexively...and his own utter authority over undead manifesting in his own black aura of power
Dominate undead.
"BEHAVE YOURSELF!"
DC: 31 will, if it effects him, I guess...
Asch Redgrave |
Annoyance. Anger. Pain and then darkness as everything falls away. Asch is left in a sea of nothing but black…and a well educated voice that haunts his nightmares even after his death. (Oh my foolish child you thought just cause you killed me you were done with me. My blood is in you I will always be here you foolish child.)
Asch Redgrave |
("What's going on?" *Well you just finished tearing into that Dacamara kid. Quite entertaining I didn't think you had it in you to act like that. Always acting like you were one of the good guys. You cant resist what you are. Your the same as me son.* "I'm nothing like you!!" Asch screams back at the apparition of his father as he tears it apart with his bare hands. He returns to consciousness with a shuttering breath and dry heaves trying to get the taste of blood from his mouth yet at the same time wanting more.
Ephebe |
She could feel her muscles shaking when she tried to move, but she couldn't move at all from where she had collapsed. She wasn't sure if Asch had come back to his senses or not, but there wasn't anything more she could do. She just hoped Krays could keep him from doing anything more he'd regret.
Jeran Darkclaw |
"What the hell is going on here? Why is Ephebe on the floor...and the vampire is covered in blood? Don't tell me the bastard finally snapped and started attacking his allies. Heh. Guess this wasn't the best time to come and check on that useless Albin," he said, eying Asch warily.
Fei, of the Sun Soul |
Perception Check (audio): 1d20 + 32 ⇒ (7) + 32 = 39
As he is making his way through the halls, Fei hears sounds of screaming and crashing. He races down the next few corridors, coming to a halt at the entrance to the Infirmary (and possibly giving Jeran a bit of a spook as he arrives before his scent does ^.^)
Seeing the blood on Asch's lips and Ephebe lying crumpled on the floor, he quickly goes over to help her up and get her into an empty bed.
"What has happened here?" he asks as he turns back around, his gaze quickly running over Asch, Jeran and Krays. "This is a place of healing, not of violence."
Michael Dacamara |
Somehow making it back to his room unseen, Michael quickly sheds his bloody shirt and tosses it under his bed, grimacing as the movement sends a sharp pain through his shoulder. A glance in the mirror reveals noting more than a fading pink line where he'd been bitten.
Shuddering, Michael sits down on his bed and wonders why he'd said anything. He hadn't gone there looking for a fight, but cold anger had surged uncontrollably in him. The image of Asch getting attacked by slurks and ending up like Albin flashes in his mind... and he smiles.
Jeran Darkclaw |
"What has happened here?" he asks as he turns back around, his gaze quickly running over Asch, Jeran and Krays. "This is a place of healing, not of violence."
"How should I know? I just got here. I heard a rumor that Albin had been attacked by slurks and came to check on him. Looks to me like the vampire snapped."
"Whatever. I'll just be taking Albin and leaving now," he said, swinging a still unconscious Albin over his shoulder and heading for the door.
"Oh, and give her a healing potion or something. Her ki is almost fatally low," he said carelessly as he was leaving.

As the diagnostic datapad attached to Ephebe's bed confirmed Jeran's words, Fei quickly checks Ephebe's neck and arms for bite marks. Seeing none, but not wanting to leave the bedside with Asch still nearby and obviously not in very good control of himself, he places a hand on her shoulder and closes his eyes for a second. A brief flash of light erupts from behind his eyelids, then his hand glows. As the glow fades into Ephebe, healing energy flows through her body, almost like a rush of adrenaline.

Fei wheels the bed away from the others and closer to one of the supply cabinets, where he quickly installs a hydration pack and protein feed to keep Ephebe stable and (hopefully) speed her back to wakefulness.
Once he is sure she is alright, he returns to Krays and Asch. As Asch lurches back to consciousness and starts retching, he says to Krays:
"If Asch has attacked someone, he is too dangerous to the other patients to remain here. He should be taken somewhere for their safety, and his own...to one of the instructors, perhaps."
Gaelvin Sieti |
A hall with in the school stands empty, slowly a bearly heard song plays. The volume only rises and as it does the school quakes with its notes tugging at the very fabric of reality. Those who bothered to look upward would find a hurricane of blue energy with swirling motes of colors. With a almost violent thrust something is thrown down from out the storm. Before it lands a single note slices thru the storms song and it stops in mid air, floating down with ease.
An elf stands with a crystal guitar, flicking his glasses up he gives a smirk as his winter blue eyes dance taking in his surroundings.
"And here I thought I would end up in limbo again. Well the song never disappoints thats for sure."
He flicks his light blue shades back down. The storm fades and he begins to play a tune as he walks around this new world, his guitar shifting to a bronze luster.
Ephebe |
Heal check: 1d20+32
Thanks to the changes made in her, she is partially a creature of positive energy. What he gave her was enough to make her stable, but she needs to build her reserves back up.

Yeah - I figured that getting some fuel for the body would help stimulate her own rejuvenation without the shock of administering more of what Fei gave her right now.... (=^.^=)
Lysander Sandwalker |
As Lysander checks on his sleeping cousin's one last time before going to bed, the White Flame candle suddenly becomes a bonfire in his mind's eye and then is nothing more than a flicker.
"She's going to get herself killed if she keeps doing that." He thinks as he closes his cousin's door. "She's messing with something she doesn't understand."

Good call. :)
One of these days she'll actually get a handle on her abilities...probably.
List of people currently in Avalon capable of teaching her how to control her abilities: Lysander and Jeran.
Chances of her learning how not to put herself into a coma during times of stress anytime soon....not good.
Fei, of the Sun Soul |
Fei wheels another bed over, picks up Asch and places him in it. He then rolls it over to be next to Amada's - hoping that her normally calming influence will work on him now. He then makes sure to relocate any nearby patients a safer distance away from those two.
Ephebe |
She found herself in the garden maze. The woman sat on the bench beside the fountain.
"It is, I suppose too much to hope that you would choose to do anything the easy way," the woman said with an exasperated smile. "Well, you can at least use this time to study, I suppose," she added indicating the fountain. "There are several things you probably need to know before you wake up."
Gaelvin Sieti |
Gaelvin keeps playing and singing as he walks. The area around him slowly starts to take on an otherworldly hue, the longer he plays the more things start to change. Colors stand out more and senses sharpen, even creatures start to appear. Most seem draconic or wild in nature, even plants begin to appear as if a older natural world were coming to the surface.
Nothing is real or has any effect on anyone.
Asch Redgrave |
It will help with part of Asch's current problems he'll be able to control part of his shadow abilities better it just won't help with his father being in his subconscious that's what part to of the drama is for. Which your fully aware of ;p
narrator |
@Lynora:If you want to have Asch meet the Patron of Darkness now might be the perfect time during Asch's semi-catatonic state. Also I'll let you decide if he gets any special perks from his new position if any.
Okay. I was going to use a spoiler tag for special perks and then I realized that everybody has a champion of something. Okay, so this is just basic to being a champion in the first place. You gain a limited immunity to the special powers of the other champions. For example, while you are just as susceptible to mental or emotional problems as the next person you can't be effected by Madness's Insanity effects. Also you gain access to a special place connected to your Concept that can connect you with any other place anywhere. Like the clock tower or the mausoleum. That kind of thing. And of course advice from your patron which may or may not be useful. And usually some sort of powerful item that allows you to channel special abilities through it. An amulet or a weapon or an instrument...something along those lines. And yes, you can recognize other champions on sight.
Gaelvin Sieti |
Taron runs straight into the area and doesn't even stop as the draconic appearance of his eyes spreads to teh rest of his body. He didn't care about it here. It wasn't a real change after all.
"Why are you playing that song?" He asks when he finds the elf witht eh crystal guitar.
Gaelvin keeps playing and singing as he turns to the human. He speaks to him using telepathy so he does not have to break his song.
"Why not, playing songs is what I do. Would you prefer a something else, I have a great many songs."
Something seemed off to him about this man.
Sense Motive

narrator |
Asch pulls his guns out from behind his coat. "Whose out there? Where am I?" He says as his eyes flit back and forth trying to see through the darkness. His mind still clouded by the horror of what he had just done.
A soft raspy chuckle fills his ears. "I am not 'out there' dear boy so much as you are in here. I am Darkness itself. Do you not recognize me?"
Asch Redgrave |
Asch stays quiet for a moment as he thinks. Your the one who caused my arm to change while we were in the plane of shadows aren't you? What do you want with me?" Asch asks as he holsters his guns still warry but knowing the guns won't help.

"I have chosen you to be my Champion. Given your relationship with the chosen ones of Death and Time, is it safe to assume you understand what that means? It can be so difficult to tell with mortals."
Taron Sunwake |
"Why not, playing songs is what I do. Would you prefer a something else, I have a great many songs."[/i]
Taron thinks for a moment before replying.
"You're in a school at night. There are people trying to get to sleep or study for tomorrow. Practicing music is usually done in soundproof rooms."
Not sure what to do with that Sense Motive check you made. Was it supposed to be a Bluff?
Krays |
Nods in thanks to Fei for seeing to Ephebe
"Asch just flipped out and bit another student...he's in some kind of catatonic state now...I don't know if I can move him or if he'll attack, so I'm keeping an eye on him..."
narrator |
"Something to do with balance right? But as darkness doesn't that make you evil? Same as me."
The raspy chuckle filled his ears again."Such a common mortal misconception. Darkness is not evil, child. I came before 'good' and 'evil'. I simply am."
"And yes, it has to do with balance in a way. The Champions keep any one idea from running wild and destroying all. Right now we have a bit of a crisis as the system has failed somewhat. Madness has already taken out the majority of the other Champions. Congratulations," the voice added dryly. "You're the replacement."
"And why exactly is it that you believe that you are evil?" it asked curiously.
narrator |
"I'm assuming you know what I am. If I lose control even for a minute people die or get hurt and I can barely control my shadows anymore ever since the shadow plane trip."
"Your shadows are an extension of yourself. A gift from me to my chosen one. It's no surprise you feel that they are out of control because right now you are out of control. Your emotions are running wild. And right about now you have to start asking yourself, child, are you an animal or are you a man? I am curious how you will choose. Can you face your fears or will you make them come true? Mortals are such fascinating things."
Gaelvin Sieti |
Taron thinks for a moment before replying."You're in a school at night. There are people trying to get to sleep or study for tomorrow. Practicing music is usually done in soundproof rooms."
Not sure what to do with that Sense Motive check you made. Was it supposed to be a Bluff?
Gaelvin smirks at the man.
"Dont you find it strange that your the only one who heard me. My song got to you, which means you have a connection to it in some way. Anyways my music never disturbs unless I want it to, so if that is your concern its a non-issue."
The sense motive was to pick up any reason why he would be mad, if his playing at night is the real reason disregard it. He takes few things at face value.
narrator |
"A man or an animal?" Asch asks himself. "So do I get somekind of emblem as a symbol as your champion? I know Ephebe has that hourglass thing and Krays has his scythe. He says bravado hiding his personal fears.
"I like you. You fear yourself more than you fear me. It's a refreshing change."
"A symbol. Yes. You must have a symbol."
Asch can feel part of the darkness separating from the rest and flowing over him like silk.

** spoiler omitted **
Asch admires the new trench coat that seems to destroy his old one yet keeps all of his spell components and equipment with it. "Nice now could we add… Before he can finish the metal fasteners appear across the chest of the jacket and at the cuffs and the O-rings appear hanging off strapson the sides."…nevermind so what exactly am I supposed to do and what do I call you exactly?"

"You may call me Umbral. What you are supposed to do is simple enough. You protect my interests. When there is something I need you to do I will let you know. And I would appreciate it if you would try to stay alive longer than the last one. It's very upsetting to lose a Champion prematurely."
