The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

And I had some technical difficulties getting the quotes to not get cut off, but finally got the reply through. :)

Okay, I think I'm current on this thread and the game thread. Probably. Most likely. I have to go make dinner and then I'll try to answer PMs while it's cooking. Unless the kidlet decides he needs attention for some reason or other.

I think Triesdan should use this thing from Blue Exorcist.

It's like a compass. The kind that makes circles, not the kind that points north. The point is a metal spike 10 inches long. The other side has a large piece of chalk mounted.

It's like a weapon that's also used for summoning circles.

Grushdeva du kalt misht

Treisdan would be stomped into jello in physical combat.

What confused me what I had thought Fate/Destiny was to be opposed by Freedom. I seem to recall us talking about that at one point. But, maybe I'm misremebering.

I thought Destiny being opposed by Freedom made sense due to the whole "freedom to choose your own destiny" vs supposedly being locked into whatever the universe has in store for you.

Male sorcerer 16 wilder (leader/telepath) 3 elocater 2, thrallherd 1, pyrokineticist 10.

Maybe destiny is opposed by two patrons, don't you feel special.

I know how to defeat Chronos....

Use STORIES... because his age gives him power... the only thing with as much age as him are stories... cmon, everyone has heard it...

"A tale as old as time... In the beginning.... A Long, Long Time Ago... and such-like"

Stories as weapons...

Officer, my husband was killed.
What happened ma'am?
He was stabbed...with a story.
Can you repeat that? Stabbed.
With a Story?
Yes. Peter Pan to be exact....

I had considered that, yes, but recently had reason to revise the list to include all of the Patrons. I felt that Luck was a better fit as an equal opposite for Fate than Freedom was. Fate and Freedom have a generally antagonistic relationship still, they're just not direct opposites.

Now you're just being silly. :P

And I already told you Kronos's vulnerability....the problem is that exploiting it would destroy everything. You need time.

Grushdeva du kalt misht

Waits a few seconds...

She called me silly... WHAT HAS BECOME OF THIS PLACE!!!!

The dark and powerful fiend that is the keeper of the dead awakens to potentially eat someone's child... or maybe just a child's pet... or just go back to sleep...

Zzzzzz

Destiny and Freedom are inherently open to abuse.

"No, you're destined not to hit me."
"Rules? Nah, that's a restriction on freedom. Limits? Nope, here's a 30thlevel spell."

Just some thoughts. Wish I'd claimed Fate earlier though. Had a great idea for it. Oh well, I guess it was destined not to be. :p

Faith/Trust is begging for a legalistic Oracle.

Lovely wording, m'lady. Most of its quite true as well, though I wouldn't count Light's Champion as a suicide. Oh no, that was murder. Sympathy murder, perhaps, but still.

Of course, I might be waaay off on what you were refering too there.

Destiny is more like a lot of rerolls. Even in games, there are no absolutes that work like that.

Destiny mostly has "Player I need you to show me your cards" power.

Assisted suicide. :P

Every samurai needs a Sepuku partner. ;P

Sepuku is actually already in my phone's dictionary, weirdly enough.

While the above complaints might be relevant, perhaps, in a normal PF game, I do believe that Lyn, DB3, FCD, and others would not let such blatant abuse of the concepts.

A donkey kick is when you kick something with both feet whilst leaning forward to do so...

Have you ever seen a donkey kick something?
It's not like he summoned one to do it...

This is what confused me. I actually thought he summoned a donkey.

>_<

Routine? Tradition? Status Quo?

wow take a day or so off and lots of posts,

well most is Champion talk so nothing to really worry me.. no comment on something that I am not a part of... (possibly thankfully at this point)

anyway I hope to have some free time soonish to actually move the temple story forward, though right now it is all real boring stuff and I am have a bit of creativity block as to what to do other than just quick summary and wait for the end of the day.

You should try it anyway... its satisfying when you try to hit a troll and instead of rolling a d20 you actually try to hit the thing... xD

I absolutely believe anyone can do it... Because seriously.. I mean.. everyone there is just as nerdy as you are :D

Male Drow (noble) 14 Ranger

I never have, and have no desire to.

LARP is on my bucket list but I've no that the time for it
Also great news, after almost two months without a job amazon is hireing me back! Woo!

Grushdeva du kalt misht

I go for about 3 days, about once every three months...

I remember you live near ish to me.
Have you ever done LARP in Tennessee?
I monstered once, but haven't actually played.

Shadow Lodge

Tennessee, huh? That's not terribly far from me either, here in southern Indiana.

Male Dhampir Champion of Darkness, Order of the Gunslinger initiate

The sunny tempermental state of florida...thought you were going fishing RAIN FOR THREE DAYS!!!!! First day back at work most beautiful sunny yet cool day EVER!!!!

My Grandma lives in FL.
I went fishing in the Everglades once.
I think I caught 20 something fish that day.
I was too young to bait a hook, and since I got so many, my uncle never actually got to fish. XD

Grushdeva du kalt misht

Well, looking at Magic's location, in Tennessee, Dragonborn3's location in Southern Indiana and mine in northern Kentucky, we veritably form a triangle of teammates...

The Larp I go to is actually held in Southern Indiana... just saying xP

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

I've larped, a lot actually. Here in Ct, out in LA and last year in Nashville.

This year, VEGAS BABY!!!

Also, Lyn new PM.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

I have never LARPed. Cosplayed, yes, but never LARP. I was going to once, but then I had a falling out with the person who was trying to introduce me to it. Didn't really help that most of that group were smokers. Ain't nothing fun enough to be worth that much asthma trouble.

Ooh. Watcha cosplay? :D

Me and Cyra have thought about it before will have to try it some time.

Mostly just stuff for Renn Faire.

Male Dhampir Champion of Darkness, Order of the Gunslinger initiate

We want to go to a renn faire...at least we are going to the scotish festivle this year. Might pick up a new blade if they have anything worth while.

I'm looking to buy a pair of latex swords and shields, then spend a bunch of hours beating the crap out of my friends and family....

It'll be fun

Nerf makes things easy.
Get a couple nerf swords, spray em black and paint 'em whatever you want.

Short answer: No

Long answer: NO. That is a terrible idea, and those things are more dangerous than just using a stick. At least if you are using a stick you would know that getting hit with it will hurt like a sonofa***** A nerf sword is much more dangerous because it has a core made out of plastic surrounded by a milimeter of foam. You need at least 5/8" of foam in order to actually be safe enough to use any kind of force behind it. I very nearly got a broken finger from those d*** nerf swords and those idiotic people who think that they are safe and use them without warning you.

Death_Keeper wrote:

Have LARPed.

Loved it. Hated it. Mixed experience-- the hate part usually due to the 'quality' of the organization/people that play (much like any game troupe).

I've done the 'real world combat' LARPing as well. Did not like it, but I'm not a physical person when it comes to games, perfectly happy with dice and other systems-- not bean bags or similar.

Some really good quality experiences out of it though. :) I played a great villain once, got invited back to do a re-occuring character from that.

I've been wacked with a couple Nerf swords and I'm fine. I'm fine. Fine. Fine I'm. Fi- *twitch*

Pool noodle?

Grushdeva du kalt misht

A larp sword should basically be a pool noodle surrounding a pvc pipe wrapped in duct tape... and those nerf swords hurt when they hit bone...
