Alright, so I figured out why I was overreacting when I posted that.
As well as being a teenager and having all of the beautiful hormones that come with that age, I was operating on 5 hours of sleep.
At 3:00 in the morning.
So, anyways, I've been rather regretting what I said, and since Lyn gave me a PM clearing things up a lot, I WOULD like to continue with the game. I'm still learning about the playstyle, and would you guys please warn me if I'm starting take too many liberties with it.
Like Lyn said, ignore my last post in Gameplay, and on with the show!
Let's just say Iolth, after getting directions to his room, sits down in it and catches up so he can go on with the dreaded First Period A.P.E Class in the Sim Room!
@Lyn: I would greatly appreciate it if you could describe exactly what goes on in Advanced P.E. in first period so I can react appropriately.
EDIT: Before I make another mistake, what time was it when Iolth got things sorted with the Headmaster? Was that last night? This morning? Just want to make sure...

Good to see that is cleared up and you're back. ^_^
I can help you salvage some of this post if you like.
Future reference, you probably heard this already, but if you haven't:
The food in the cafe isn't bad. If you got something made for another race, that makes sense, but there is normal and actually pretty good food for any given race. If he got something from the wrong place, that could validate the tentacle. Maybe something for the aberrations to eat.
Fights end immediately if in the school. He could get picked on to the point of wanting to fight*. If this happens, you need to issue a challenge, get a teacher to officiate, and go to a SIM room to do it.
*now, the school is going through some hard times and people are likely not in a hazing mood right now, but people deal with grief in different ways, so lashing out at strangers is not completely unheard of. It could still happen if you want it to. I also find it unlikely that Lolth gets his @$$ handed to him if he can level a city, but it's your character and your story.
Does this help your situation? I thought if you could keep the majority of it with some tweaking, it could work. :)
Edit: you would be getting done about now. It's first period, but it is understandable that he wants to get settled in first. He'd probably start classes after lunch.

Monkeygod |

Well, skills can be easy to ramp up, even without tweaking or min/maxing.
Let's take a Human, at 6th level, he's a diplomat, with an 18 to Charisma. Class is Bard.
6 ranks in diplomacy, +3 from being a class skill, +4 from an 18. Bare minimum is +13. Add in feats and a trait, an item or two, and its easy to come close to +20.
So, no, its not disgusting, its the system, period.

25 is hardly "disgusting"
In terms of the DCs of skill checks, +25 is disgusting.
You're achieving mastery level rolls without much effort, all the time.
That's the issue. Not how well you tweak your character at first level.
Oh, +25.
I just meant a total of 25.And what's wrotng with high tier rolls?

Thanks for the advice, Magic! Anyways, the reason Iolth got his @$$ handed to him in the fight in that post is because he restrained himself. Me and Lyn figured out some... things about Iolth (Mwahahahaha!), and Iolth doesn't feel like going all out on a bunch of idiots who are lashing out at him.
BTW Magic, do you have a Champion?

Heh, interesting.
No he made clear we had to get out butts back to enrolment ASAP. Kind of with him, so kind of assuming he's happy we are headed back. I think we would be in way more trouble if we just sat there did nothing, so going back is logical.

At the sake of repeating myself, the fact you roll that high, ALL the time for people who are potentially naïve, new to the world, teenagers, or 1st level folk-- makes things ridiculous in terms of realty.
You're effectively ALL Beethoven's, Shakespeare's and Einstein's at age 16, or so.
Does that make sense? Having 16 levels of SKILL (not counting adding racial bonuses and class bonuses) on a roll of 10, 50% chance, or better, all the time, affords you that 25 DC or better, nearly 50% of the time.
Doesn't seem 'off'? Cause I sure as heck don't really see people acting their age or 'experience' -- why are they even in school?
Just for their powers, I mean, how can teachers 'teach' if their students potentially out rank them in it?
Does that help explain?
EDIT: This post has been edited.

Oh, my impression was that you had an opportunity to interact with an NPC, walk back with him, but once his hands were on your shoulders -- you up and fled.
That's how I took it. :)
Literally, moved out from under his hands, on your shoulders, and fled.
That in itself, is impressive.

Yeah, which is also why you said to be on the best behavior so it doesn't get as bad, if not worse, then if we stayed right?

Aside from the fact that the whole "everyone is ubsurdly powerful, thing" being largely intrinsic to the setting...
Well, the teachers tend to be higher tier, and can't teach people at 16 ranks.. (Because that would move them out of student range)
People go to school here to learn control and learn other subjects, because there isn't only one knowledge skill.

To make Clear Halo,
MY PC a young woman got a bit creped out about being told she's in trouble bay a big scary old guy who's just got all touchy physical on her. She did as such a woman may do and made a quick exit. She said nothing about being a bit freaked because she's new here. My PC did what she thought she was being told to do and get back there. Now if your saying Damiani he has a Volcan Death grip on them both she may really freak out. I don't think he has, and I don't see the problem here with them getting told to do something and doing it asap.
In a nut shell "you up and fled"
she's a Commoner L1 and he's Epic level NCP,
Fled like the wind is the best she can do.

I'd be freaked out by a Volcan Death grip too.
Guess I didn't get the above in reading your posts. All clear now.

@Iolth, it's first period, a little bit after the bell when you finished registration. If you asked for permission to settle in before going to classes it would be granted, but you would be asked to join classes as soon as possible. There are more sections of APE than there used to be, so it doesn't have to be first period. There's another one directly after lunch.

We don't use maps around here, we put our hand (or other appendage) on the wall and think of where we want to go and arrows show up showing the way there
Yes. This is the replacement for the maps because people kept losing them. And Iolth was told about the walls I believe.

Actually, there are maps, and they change as the school changes.
I use them, as i can hold that in front of me so it doesn't become a blurry mess when i run.

Oh, really? I was given one by sirokuma, but it was never a major plot point, so i can just pretend it wasn't there,

Glad I could help.
Yes, I do have a champion. More like one and a half, kinda.
Tybalt is the champion of Mercy. New and naive to the whole thing as he started yesterday.
Lewis is not a champion, but he is part of a champion's character concept. He was created/contracted by Madness to protect his champion.
Why do you ask? :)

lynora |

@Cap, Sorchan doesn't really look like an "old guy" since firebirds only age like humans until age 20. After that they look the same age for centuries. If you see an old looking firebird it was achieved with makeup or illusion. Sometimes they do this to look more distinguished. In Sorchan's case, he definitely has an aura of authority so that might make her consider him as slightly older, but he pretty much looks like the picture I linked under Image sans the crazy armor. He doesn't wear that stuff around every day. And you were correct in assuming that he wasn't gripping them tightly. He had only touched their shoulders lightly. Haven't read your post yet but since I've read what you meant it to say I will run with that interpretation of it. :)

lynora |

Now, I have posts since before the weekend to catch up on. I will be posting as fast as I can, but please be at least a little patient with me as I get back up to speed. Now that I've finished dealing with all the behind the scenes stuff it's time to get back to the game. :)

Iolth Taknith |

13, I believe, though it may have been 3 (always get confused between CL and SL for dispels). Though either way, Iolth literally devoured it.
Also, I'll fill out class schedule for Iolth at some point.

Beat me to it too, oh well, next time :)

Damiani |

In other words, in a level 16, no-cap on players setting, what did you expect in power?
In terms of power, nothing, in fact, I routinely think some people are a touch too gross for the setting, but, those are the 'twinks' as I call 'em. Doesn't bother me in the least.
In terms of story/character, for people going to a school-- a ton more naïve, or ignorant, wet behind the ears, innocent and wide-eyed folks. People who can grow, not simply have some 'issue' that needs psychology or a good magical restraint.
Students after all, and teens* at that.
* - excluding non-humans, who have their own society growth. I.e. Elves, being in their hundred years or so, at that 16 mark.

Yea, I have no idea what is going on with them. Not that it really matters, but what's the mechanic for Devour Magic, as I am curious. Is it the same as the 3.5 Lock invocation?
That Deeper Darkness is not just a vanilla casting, as Serrin is a focused shadow mage.

I too am curious as to this 'effect', since your character sheet/profile appears to still have the d8 attacks and all that other stuff.
Is this a 'rules light' thing for color, or 'rule of cool'?

I have it later in the day.
My first class, ironically, is intro to healing.
