Nice, you have google docs working, I wanted to use them. but never figured out where to start...

I'll blend the groups a bit with references, encase a GM disappears or is force to leave due to RL as it tends to happen.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 | Init +4 | Perc +1 | AC 24 T 13 FF 21 CMB +6 CMD 19 | HP 38/38 (nonlethal: 0) | F +8 R +3 W+1 (+2 vs poison, spells, and spell-like abilities) | Rage 9/9 |

Checking in.

DM Azure_Zero had some notes for my backstory and I wanted to run them by you. While the Vale is probably too small to support a low-outside-contact tribe like I had envisioned, encounters with the fey and local legends make tying Dugan to the area pretty straightforward. I can make changes if you like but only if you'd prefer.

I look forward to playing with everyone!

Dugan, it may be possible to include your tribe.

I actually have the Guide to Darkmoon Vale sourcebook, which includes more detailed information about the region.

Your tribe could be located either in the Kingtower Woods, just north of Droskar's Crag and isolated by the mountains around the Vale, or you could be from the Arthfell Forest to the south, known for its fey, druids, and werewolves.

The map above actually reflects the sub-region known as Darkmoon Woods, which is about 1/3 of the whole Vale.

I'll pipe in a bit on why I said a tribe was not possible, and mentioned it was the wrong scale to use, especially one living off the land like hunter-gatherers.

A Family unit tends to be 10-30 members,
A Clan is made up of over 5 family units
A Tribe is made up of Many Clans.

So (10->30)*(say 5->12)*(Say 5->8) = 250->2880.
If your doing self-farming 1 acre feeds 4 year round
Hunter-gatherer requires say 3 times as much land, so 3 acres for 4 people.
So land needs comes to 187.5 to 2160 acres

As you can see a smaller scale group works better when living off the land like hunter-gathers.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 | Init +4 | Perc +1 | AC 24 T 13 FF 21 CMB +6 CMD 19 | HP 38/38 (nonlethal: 0) | F +8 R +3 W+1 (+2 vs poison, spells, and spell-like abilities) | Rage 9/9 |

I think I'll go with the Arthfell Forest, largely because I plan on taking the Superstition line of Rage Powers and playing Dugan as very distrustful of magic and magic creatures.

I tend to follow to the MST3K school of thought when it comes to fantasy science vs reality science in my role-playing but can lean more towards real world analogues if that's the way you all play. I'm pretty easy going. I'll rework it so he comes from a little further south and figure out something else for my relationship section.

I tend to try and blend reality and fantasy sciences to get a more realistic value, but also trying to account for the more fantasy based factors and scenarios.

I did tilt somewhat to fantasy, as yes you'll have fantasy boons helping you, but you'll also have new fantasy problems hindering you.
So I put the boon a bit higher then the hinderence when I did the math, otherwise it would of been 1 acre for each person rather then 0.75 acre per person.
And I did not bothered with land quality since that would of been another factor so I just set it to 1 ....

Male Human (Varisian) HP: 31/31, AC: 19, FF: 16, Touch: 13, Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +4. 1st Level Spells 4/4. Inspire Courage 8/8 Bard 3

Trying to gather the PCs together into an area without getting too meta. Always easier when the call to action happens ye've got eyeballs on each other so you know the other PCs were causing trouble.

@Bastian We've got a sizable enough party and with two bards I don't think we'll have to skimp on bardic performance! I suggest a general rule of thumb, whichever one of us goes higher in initiative get's their inspire courage going. Between our two characters we've got ten rounds a day at level one!

So I can keep a more correct perspective and imagining of a scene.
Can you give a description of your characters with their heights, as it might effect if some characters we interact with are Literally Looking down or UP at us.

I'll make some character renders and a Height reference to help me keep track of things better and have everyone with a common visual idea of our group

Enlightened Paladin (2) Angelic Warrior Vigilante (1) Wounds (0) HP (27) Saves (7/7/8) AC (19/14/15) Initiative (+4) LoH (3/3) PT (1/1) AS (1/1) Cold, Fire, Lightning (5) CMB (+6) CMD (18)

A good idea. Like most half-orcs, Ulark is tall (approximately 6 feet). He has green skin (roughly the hue of emerald) and his teeth are far more silver than white. He is generally seen wearing sturdy traveling clothes, including a hood (like the profile picture), with a chain shirt underneath.

Taking it your going to look a bit like this

Enlightened Paladin (2) Angelic Warrior Vigilante (1) Wounds (0) HP (27) Saves (7/7/8) AC (19/14/15) Initiative (+4) LoH (3/3) PT (1/1) AS (1/1) Cold, Fire, Lightning (5) CMB (+6) CMD (18)

Not nearly so bulky. Ulark is 'only' Str18 and Con13.

Something more along the line of this.

His appearance will change to be more in line with his angelic blood when using his SLA. But besides that, he's tall and muscular, but not swole.

The 'muscles bigger than your chest' look, in my mind, is best used for those who are Str20+ and with correspondingly high Con as well.

First Draft Height Reference
Missing the Bards though.

Male Human (Varisian) HP: 31/31, AC: 19, FF: 16, Touch: 13, Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +4. 1st Level Spells 4/4. Inspire Courage 8/8 Bard 3

I'd say he's about 5'4" and with all physicals at 14 probably something akin to a swimmers build.

Enlightened Paladin (2) Angelic Warrior Vigilante (1) Wounds (0) HP (27) Saves (7/7/8) AC (19/14/15) Initiative (+4) LoH (3/3) PT (1/1) AS (1/1) Cold, Fire, Lightning (5) CMB (+6) CMD (18)

Very nice reference. Did you make that?

Yes, I made it using Daz Studio

Inconnu Tain wrote:

Any notes for; hair colors and styles, or eye color?

Just to let you guys know, I will be modifying some of the encounters in the Falcon's Hollow modules both to account for the party composition and to keep things unique.

Also, if everyone is up for it, I may try to fit in some homebrew side quests.

I've always been a fan of GMs modifying adventures to make them their own. You'll receive no complaints from me.

Male Human (Varisian) HP: 31/31, AC: 19, FF: 16, Touch: 13, Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +4. 1st Level Spells 4/4. Inspire Courage 8/8 Bard 3

Might be worth firing off Bastion's player a PM, they might not have realized they got selected. Best we rope the character in before heading off on our grand adventure.

Black hair, about as long as in the picture with green eye colour.

I just sent Bastian a message. Hopefully they'll reply soon.

Hi all, sorry for dropping the ball there. Thanks for the PM Vayelan. I see we have two bards in the party, should I change anything about Bastian before I jump in to make sure we maximize our usefulness to the party? I could change to an archetype that replaces Inspire Courage for example.

Male Human (Varisian) HP: 31/31, AC: 19, FF: 16, Touch: 13, Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +4. 1st Level Spells 4/4. Inspire Courage 8/8 Bard 3

That just means more rounds per day! I had suggested that as a rule of thumb whichever bard gets higher in initiative kicks off bardic performance.

Though when we level up maybe we should fire a few PMs back and forth so we don't double up too much on spells.

Frankly, I was curious to see what sort of dynamic emerged in a party with two bards.
Rivalry? Competition to see who's the more dashing swain? Rockin' duets?

Plus, Bastian's arrowsong focus will keep him fairly distinct in what he can bring to the party.

Anyhow, some of the modifications I was going to make to the modules were meant to allow opportunities for both performers to shine, since many of the other encounters seem fairly combat-oriented for Dugan and Ulark's talents.

If you want to be in the height reference render

I'll need a description with a height.

I'll later use them for something like a scene render.

Inconnu Tain wrote:

Bardic Knowledge works, but you have to pick a Knowledge skill your using it with.

Nature and Geo are the one's needed for the tree.

Bastian we're waiting on you to post.....

Male Human (Varisian) HP: 31/31, AC: 19, FF: 16, Touch: 13, Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +4. 1st Level Spells 4/4. Inspire Courage 8/8 Bard 3

I sent a PM to that effect on Monday, maybe he is caught up? Hopefully he will get to us soon.

For now, I think I will bot him so we can move along.

Hi everyone. I've had a bunch of extra responsibilites pushed on me that I didn't particularily want at work/school that have been eating up my time completely. It's not a long term thing, so I should be fine in a few days, but if you felt my character is no longer needed I would understand.

@DM Vayelan
are you going to be planning anything scary for us given it is October and Halloween approaches?

Oh and for the height render, (great work and idea by the way!) Bastian is about six foot, long golden blonde hair. Often pulled back as in his avatar. Lithe and graceful with somewhat delicate features (belied by his bass-baritone voice).

Now that you mention it, I think I should plan a spooky surprise.

I edited the Darkmoon Woods map to depict the river that feeds into the lake from the mountains.
I also added a link at the top of the page for the character reference renders, although I only had the link for the one without the bards.

Updated the Height Ref render

I hope I got the Bards looking right...

Male Human Level 3 Investigator

Weather is getting bad here. If I haven't responded for a while just bot me.

Thank you for updating the renders, Joanne.

Kevin/Inconnu, please stay safe.

I'm a fan of Bastian's look in the render! Thanks!

I hope things are okay Kevin.

Male Human (Varisian) HP: 31/31, AC: 19, FF: 16, Touch: 13, Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +4. 1st Level Spells 4/4. Inspire Courage 8/8 Bard 3

Yeah biggest storm in fifty years, had the whole country pretty much hunkering down for the day. Sadly three dead but it could have been much worse. It'll be a few days before everything gets electricity back but I got lucky.

I've added a link for the encounter map to the top of the campaign page.
During the encounter, you should be able to move your tokens as you post your actions.

Enlightened Paladin (2) Angelic Warrior Vigilante (1) Wounds (0) HP (27) Saves (7/7/8) AC (19/14/15) Initiative (+4) LoH (3/3) PT (1/1) AS (1/1) Cold, Fire, Lightning (5) CMB (+6) CMD (18)

Awesome. Thanks for putting that together. I moved Ulark, to show him trying to quietly wake up the party.

So what is the Game plan?

Enlightened Paladin (2) Angelic Warrior Vigilante (1) Wounds (0) HP (27) Saves (7/7/8) AC (19/14/15) Initiative (+4) LoH (3/3) PT (1/1) AS (1/1) Cold, Fire, Lightning (5) CMB (+6) CMD (18)

We're in a standoff. Though if nothing happens soon, Ulark is just going to lead a surprise charge.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2/Fighter 1 | Init +4 | Perc +1 | AC 24 T 13 FF 21 CMB +6 CMD 19 | HP 38/38 (nonlethal: 0) | F +8 R +3 W+1 (+2 vs poison, spells, and spell-like abilities) | Rage 9/9 |

I was thinking the exact same thing, Ulark.

starting to think one of those razorcrows has the Jinx perk from Fallout (1 or 2)....
