Zadkiel the Fallen wrote:

Zadkiel gives Myriana a sideways look, "Oh, I like to move fast. Keeps things from being boring."

He takes the offered drink and follows Astoril's example, extinguishing and swallowing in one smooth motion suggesting he's done this a few times. "Oh Myri, wait until we're five or six drinks in. Last time me and Astoril went drinking we woke up in the Mortuary on a slab, I like to think some corpse hauler made a few jink turning us in." Zad laughs.

Astoril laughs at the memory

"Oh, and Factotum Myvresh almost joined the True Dead when we popped off those slabs clutching our heads! Oh sweet darkness! She had me bathing zombies for a full cycle after that stunt!"

As the others chuckle and talk he leans into Zadkiel

"I made a few inquiries to the records you were looking for. That's old business. Millenia-old. They don't keep those records in the Mortuary. You'd need to make a trip to UnderSigil. There's a faction stronghold down there known as the Vault of Souls. The only problem is you need to be a factotum or above to even walk through the gates. They don't like namers down deep in UnderSigil. Unless they're dead namers, if you get my drift."

Calita waits with the others for her friends, nervously shifting from foot to foot, pacing in circles, and smiling at their good fortune and profusely thanking all three of them for helping her.

When Phillius and Karan are led out of the building, she races over and hugs them. Bringing them over to the others, she makes introductions. When Alyse asks what Nye wants as payment, she readily accepts the strange man's terms. "Well, Alyse here works for the Lightning Guild as a courier, something I'd also like to get into, as I enjoyed my first job for them. I... don't really know what Tollard does though exactly," she cocks her head thoughtfully, trying to remember if he'd mentioned anything and she'd been not paying attention.

Tsun furrows his eyebrows and twitches his mustache. "I'm not joking. Smelling shenanigans has been a family talent for a dozen generations. We used to live in Ysgard, and the village actually met to decide whether or not we could stay, since they didn't want our family to pull any chunks into the Outlands."

Sara raises an eyebrow and snifs the air too.

"Yeah. I think I'm smelling those Shenanigans too. Better be carefull with those then Tsun. Congruence and I are too experienced, but you might still be a little *wet* behind the ears."

Sara waggles her fingers behind her back, and suddenly a splash of water appears out of tin air and falls on Tsun's head.
Sara tries to appear innocent for a moment, then bursts out in shrieks of laughter.

If Tsun tries to catch Sara, she'll do a bad job of running away because she is nearly falling down with laughter, the way only a teenage girl can laugh

Congruence points at the water dripping off Tsun, "Perhaps that is the shenanigans that you smelled earlier."

Tsun sighs in long-suffering patience. Tieflings.

"No, it wasn't this. Childishness and shenanigans are similar but different. Antics aside, I would like to accompany you and help watch your backs. My nose has never been wrong before."

Sara is keeping her tiefling features carefully hidden from everyone. She does her utmost best to appear human: she hides her horns in her scarf, and she wears gloves the whole time. Her tail is hidden in her pants leg.
I'm also looking for a word. In Dutch we have a separate saying 'slappe lach' which teenage girls often doe, laugh untill you cant really stand up straight anymore, and end up laughing because you are laughing. I havent found the right way to express that yet in english.

Sara is totally lost in her girl giggles and doesnt even notice Tsun doesnt find it funny at all.
While she's normally reserved and composed, its clearly the teenage girl showing now.

Eventually she calms down, needing to wipe tears from her eyes several times. "Heheheh heh heehh... He... Ah, that must have been all the tension from earlier. Hehehe... Oh, my sides hurt. And my face too. You're too funny Tsun."

Male Aasimar Inquisitor(Sanctified Slayer) 1

Zadkiel's grin twitches ever so slightly, "That could be your recruitment pitch right there Astor, 'Join up with the Dustmen, make it into Undersigil and back in one piece.'" The smile returned, "Someone I know turned up another possible lead for the ol' brainbox" he tapped a finger to his temple, "Have to deal with the Sensates though. Hey, care to drink our way into another unusual memory so I can get into the Festhall without joining the touchy-feely crowd?"

Male Halfling Oracle (Dark Tapestry) 1

"Shh," Tollard says to Nye conspiratorially. "Ixnay on the Ahamutbay..."

He goes on, "When I'm not attending to divine duties or providing legal aid referrals, I am a library assistant for a private collection. It's a new gig, so we will have to see what comes of it. So you may have just secured a favor from a part-time librarian, for what that's worth."

Male Gnome Alchemist

The small blue hair man who Calita introduced as Fillius, finally seems to collect himself. He vigourously shakes Nye's hand as he professes his gratitude, and offers him his services as an alchemist should he ever need it.
Turning to calita and her friends, he smiles a crooked smile at them as he bows low. "Thank you good people for coming to my rescue. I was beginning to worry that my incarceration would be the death of me. I'm not quite the spry young thing anymore, I leave all the hard work to young Karan here," he motions towards the small Gargoyle, who smiles a devilish grin and gives a little wave.
He turns to Calita. "I'm glad to see that you've landed much more firmly on your feet than we did my dear. You were always a resourceful one, part of the reason I took a liking to you," he gives her a playful wink. He sighs. "I guess Karan and I are going to have to find somewhere to stay now, lest we suffer the same fate that befell us last time. Do any of you good people know of anywhere cheap, as well as anywhere willing to hire an alchemist?' He looks hopefully at Tollard and Alyse

Female Dusk Elf Magus (Mindblade) 2

"Actually," Calita says happily, "I may be able to help you on the job front. I met an alchemist who was kind enough to let me stay with him for a few days, he might be willing to give you some work. I can take you there if you'd like? As far as staying somewhere... do you guys think that St Cuthbert's might be viable, at least in the short term?"

“Lightning Guild, yeah,” agrees Alyse, looking at Nye. “But I wouldn’t mind something a bit more … interesting.”

Astoril raises his Flaming Death

"Eat, drink and be merry. Because we're already dead!"

The young Dustie Drucilla brings a few more rounds, and the Afterpeak becomes a blur of distilled grain alcohol and dancing. The tavern fills as the Afterpeak segues into Before Antipeak, and the bardic group begins a wild set of songs that seem to focus on death and nihilism

Let me know what your next plans are on the discussion thread, and I'll forward the narrative

St. Cuthbert's wouldn't be suitable for an adult, but we can say your alchemist friend has a spare room above his shop for convenience sake.

Congruence looks at Sara's and Tsun's reactions, curious which is the appropriate behavior to emulate. The modron doesn't wonder long as they trust their Chore Friend. Pointing at Tsun, Congruence states, "We are in agreement that you are excessively humorous!" Then the modron bursts out in a laughing fit that is a little too loud, rather too late, and certainly too forced.

The Fallen Angel is an exotic dance club catering to the 'elite' of the Hive Ward. The Marble District is the good side of the Hive, and isn't a total mess like the rest of the ward. However, even though the residents have more jink than their neighbors doesn't make them genteel. The cutters that live there are the flashy rich: Pawnbrokers, shysters, pimps, and tavernkeeps.

The group, with the two released in tow make their way back to the Great Bazaar and to Calita's alchemist friend Cornstarch. The Afterpeak is sliding into Before Antipeak by the time they enter the sprawl of booths and stalls that make up the massive bazaar.

Cornstarch's shop is tucked into a corner of the Bazaar, not a stall, but an actually brick and mortar style building. The narrowness of the windows and the bars across them speak to the nature of the business inside.

Cornstarch is a tall blue-skinned cutter, with six fingers, dressed in a thick scarred and burnt leather apron. He greets Calita warmly, putting down some beakers he was working on.

"Greetings! I am Cowirnstarachaterdreniled. But most folks call me Cornstarch."

After that, I'm more than happy to look at whatever work you trip blogs can get us, whether that be with Nye, the Lightning Guild, or something else entirely. I'm not the kind of girl to sit on my hands, so whatever keeps me occupied and having some fun is OK by me. earning some gold in the process would be a welcome bonus though."

"I get why cutter. I'm Shade," says Alyse. "Nice setup you have here Cornstarch."

Zadkiel had just downed something black, hot, and extremely alcoholic when Myriana asked her question. He thought for a moment, "Mmmm, not much, outside of my standard price range. Astoril, you got anything?"

Astoril shrugs

"It's a fairly clean spot. Rough crowd. You could ask Mara over there."

He points to a tall, thin, dark-haired girl in her early twenties dressed in a fairly slinky rendition of Dustmen apparel. She is chatting with the gentleman who had approached Myriana, her pale skin covered in glowing tattoos.

"I know she earns some extra jink dancing there. That and some roofwork, or so the screed goes."

Cant:

Spoiler:
roofwork: burglary. screed: gossip

Cornstarch extends a large hand.

"A pleasure."

He looks at the odd group

"So what can I do for you cutters this Before Antipeak?"

Female Human Magus / 1

Alyse shrugs, glances at Calita, then joins Tollard in looking about the place, in particular looking for any interesting wares (that she could afford).

Myriana smiled and replied, "Thanks, I just might do that meow." She sat and waited, watching until Gorek had left Mara alone and made her way over to the tattooed woman. She slid into a seat near the woman and said, "Hey Mara, I'm Myriana. Astoril told me you might be able to give me some more information meow." She nodded her head in the direction that Gorek had gone and said, "He offered me a job at the Fallen Angel as a dancer and I'm wondering what you can tell me about the place meow. Astoril said you work there part time to make some extra cash."

Female Dusk Elf Magus (Mindblade) 2

Calita smiles at the large blue man, and s about to introduce everyone when Alyse takes the initiative. The laughs at the girl's direct manner and introduces first Tolard, then Fillius and Karan. "These two are actually the reason I've come back for a visit," she says, pulling her two old friends forward, "these are the friends I was telling you about, the ones I was looking for when I came to see you. Now that I've found them (they were being held as prisoners by the Red Men), they need a place to stay and work. I was hoping," she gives Cornstarch her most hopeful, pleading look, "that you might have something for them?"

Male Gnome Alchemist

Cornstarch looks them up and down and frowns. Fillius, seeing his hopes of finding something meaningful to do in Sigil evaporating, steps forward.
"Fillius Farnweather at your service," he says enthusiastically. "Calita here tells me you're quite the accomplished Alchemist. I myself had my own practice back where I came from, and young Karan here was my assistant. I'm not looking to cut in on your business, but we are in need of something soon, or else I'm afraid the we may find ourselves once more the guests of those dreaded "Red Men" as Calita so aptly put it." His enthusiasm fades a little at the thought of going back to that.
His smile returns though, as he holds his hand out towards the large man. "What do you say, do you think you could find a use for us?"

Tsun regards Sara and Congruence. "So, you have any plans for the next five peaks? I'm going to see about some repairs before we go, but I've kept this place in fairly good shape. Anything I can help?"

Sara shrugs. "Making our rooms in order is important. We got lucky when we got a spot here. So its only right that we leave it the best we can for the next cutter that comes along. We also need to pack our things. We got a bit of starting money. I have no idea what we actually need. But we might shop for some essentiala. I want to start well prepared."

Mara looks at Myriana. She is a skinny human, but with a fair amount of curves where they count. She affects a Dustmen style, but her interpretation is a lot more salacious than the norm. She smiles lazily and takes a drag off some type of cigarette. The smell isn't one that Myrianna has smelt before.

"Sure thing, ducks. It's a good place. The gents are a bit handsy, but they are generous. You have to be ready for the full show, it's everything and the knickers off there. I've made the acquaintance of a lot of generous men there."
