Once a fumble is confirmed we draw a card from that deck in my game, one of my better investments.

Tobias: 21 [Pending]
Ten: 20 [Nat 1]
Zombies: 10 [attacking]
Ten if you want, roll a fumble confirm and draw a card from your deck if you fail. I trust you to be honest
Ten's swing misses completely, and the slick floor makes his footing difficult. A zombie swipes at him as he attempts to regain his footing
1d20+2=15, 1d6+1=6
The zombie's nail-studded claws just miss the large priest
We'll just leave that there for now
Iz and San combat roll out of the gore and pop up from the fetid floor
Jo's rapier claims another undead, it's spine severed. Vilya is curled on the floor, three zombies reaching for her prone form

Joleesa Morvais |

To the group: Would everyone be comfortable using the critical hit/fumble decks for this game?
Both ADMaE and I have both decks, so we could roll dice to choose which effect and whichever of us is on first can spoiler the effect.
From memory I think there are 54 cards and they are all numbered? (Confirm for me ADMaE, my cards are in the garage, I'll have to bring them in) Not sure what dice to roll for that?
Tobias Marshalsea |

Tobias sends more arcane energy at the undead, but misses.
Disrupt Undead Returns: It missed, alright?

Egan Coyle |

Egan looks for an open shot at one of the undead.
Longbow shot (1d20+9=19) (If he must shoot through friendly squares it's a 14, unless the undead is flanked then it's a 16.

Tobias tries to hit a rotter by Vilya, but Ten's windmilling puts his aim off. Egan has more luck, felling the zombie injured by Vilya before she fell to the ground.
I think that whoever sees the nat 1 or critical first should post it up, so that it will not jeapordize the time flow. We're all adults here, I'll go by what you guys post if you wanna make the whole exercise more interesting. I like working with critical hit/fumble tables, I have since my AD&D days. (Gotta find my old scar chart, that was a fun one!) Soon as I get Ten's roll for fumble we'll do the zombies up..

No need to draw a card with that bad baby!

[OK, ending the round. Vilya I need a stabilization roll (1d100). At the top of the next round Ten and Jo will have to roll another DC 10 Dex chk (with acro +2)since they are still in the gore patch.[/ooc]
The two zombies left on Vilya abandon the bleeding binder and shuffle towards Sanvoros, moaning loudly, their rusty spines caked in blood
San: 1d20+2=8, 1d6+1=5, 1d20+2=13, 1d6+1=4,Iz: 1d20+2=3, 1d6+1=2, Ten: 1d20+2=22, 1d6+1=4
Phew
Most of the flailing rotted limbs miss their target, but a well-placed rusty spine finds a chink in Ten's defenses, stabbing deeply into his armpit.
NEW ROUND!!

Thanks Flashy!
:) I wanna know what you think!
Dexterity Check (Acrobatics Bonus). (1d20+4+2=17)
Joleesa moves with ease across the blood slicked floor, heading towards Vilya. She stops to take a swipe at a Zombie along the way and draws a spray of ichor.
"Wheezy" sniffs the room, but remains in the Statue room, growling at the Zombies, but unwilling to go near all of the Zombie bodies.
Move to m28 & Attack Zombie.
Attack Zombie with Masterwork Rapier (Inspire Courage). (1d20+7+1=20)

PS. I love Vilya's red splat! ;)

Sanvoros Draben |

Back up on their feet, San gives Iz a mirthless smirk. "Let's finish these things, eh, old friend?" Looking at him, the rest of the group could swear he actually looked like he was having fun as he cleaved through another one of the rots ...
greatsword attack (1d20+9=27, 2d6+7=17)
Shaking his head, Iz finds himself still slightly off-balance, and his swing is wide.

Jolessa glides nimbly across the sea of gore and her rapier lunges into the back of a moaning undead. Iz's following stroke on the same rotter finishes the job. An 11 actually hits.
San smiles and whips his greatsword around in a deadly arc, passing the flashing steel through a zombie's midsection. Its north half separates from its south half, looking confused for a moment before the necromantic energy fades from its milky eyes. Its legs totter a few steps, then collapse into rotted gore.

Welcome back Shiny! And you lose a HP. That makes you -2 I believe. You need to roll again d100 for the upcoming round and if you get ten or under you naturally stabilize, otherwise you lose another HP

We used to use that one for 2e, back from the Original Gold Covered Dragon Annual it came from. It was an awesome chart, but I haven't seen the 3.5 conversion.

Ten Foot Twin Eater |

Ten Foot tries to fight his way closer to Vilya, swinging his axe at the closest Zombie.
Greataxe: +5 1d12+4 (x3) (1d20+5=15, 1d12+4=13)
The blade swings true and bites deeply.
He takes any attacks of opportunity to close up to Vilya after the attack.

Egan Coyle |

Egan looks for an open space in the doorway, and shoots another arrow into a putrefied bag of guts.
Longbow (1d20+5=19) (includes -4 for shooting through friendly square)
And hears a solid thunk as the arrow sinks deep.

Tobias Marshalsea |

Tobias sends another ray of energy at the undead, hitting it right between the eyes.
Sorry, basement flooded. Disrupt Undead V: The Undead Strike Back: 1d20+4=24, 1d6+1=7 Confirmation: 1d20+4=8

Dungeon Monkey |

Heh. With the damage done, you all have officially run out of rotbags! Congrats on a long fight well played!
Egan's arrow takes down a zombie as Tobias' golden ray finishes off Jolessa's wounded prey. Ten snaps one in two with his axe as he vaults over the crumpling bodies to get to Vilya.
The large throne room seems oddly quiet without the moans and shuffling of the restless dead. The mutated Sliss'Pok still lies crumpled on the altar.
Actions? Oh, and GIVE YOURSELVES A LEVEL! YOU DESERVE IT!

Thoughts

Sanvoros Draben |

As the last of the undead falls, San lowers his blade. Leaning on it as the point digs into the ground, he looks over at Iz and says, "Slowing down in your old age? I think I racked up a couple more'n you did, this time."
I'm thinking we do a very thorough search of the room (San will take 20), including liberal use of detect evil and detect magic, if anyone memorized it (San didn't). Once that's done, maybe Ten could use his create water to wash the gore out of the room, and then camp here for the night. I'm not thinking it's a good idea to continue this day with Vilya down for the count. We can close the doors, and try to bar them with something in case any more of those petrified skeletons try and get in.

That's a sound idea.
Joleesa watches the Zombie infront of her collapse after Tobias' ray strikes it. She looks around for another opponent and catches Ten taking down the final one.
She looks around, confident that Ten can administer to Vilya and goes back up to the Dias to check over the Sliss'pok's body, something she's been wanting to do since they took it down.

Egan Coyle |

Egan watches the group descend on the dessicated corpses like a school of Riverwolf fish, and slowly counts his remaining arrows.
"If nobody has any objections, I'm going to go back to the surface for a breath of fresh air. This smell of decay has made me dizzy". "Would someone mind gathering any of my arrows that are not ruined". "I can make minor repairs myself if they are not split or broken".
Egan then begins to head for the outside entrance. He peeks his head out and takes a deep breath, then notices a hawk circling above his location. He attempts to make a hawk cry with his hands circling his mouth, and is very surprised when the hawk seems to take notice and circle lower. Using the same technique he continues to make the sound till the hawk finally lands on the ground about 30' away tilting its head and eyeing the young ranger. Egan makes soothing noises, and takes a bit of meat from his pack and throws it to the bird. The bird takes a flying leap backwards a step, then slowly closes on the meat and swallows it in one easy gulp. After a couple of repetitions the hawk moves closer to the ranger. Egan holds up one gloved hand with a snack in the other and much to his surprise the hawk flies to his glove, settling his heavy bulk on the rangers outstreached hand.
"I think we shall be great friends" the ranger whispers in elven to the bird, and to his surprise the bird chortles back at him...strange...the bird almost seems to understand him. "Well I must go back to my friends valiant one". "I hope you will wait for my return". And with a reluctent turn he re-enters the opening.

Izkrael |

"Ah.. but you had a head start while I was helping take care of that ...thing." Iz says as he vaguely motions with his sword towards the body on the dais. "Regardless though, good job, friend."
He searches through the goo and bones near the doorway, and withdraws his curveblade. As he cleans it of zombie ichor, he walks over to Ten-foot, grimacing at Vilya. "You going to be able to get her back up soon?" he ask.

Ten Foot Twin Eater |

As he cleans it of zombie ichor, he walks over to Ten-foot, grimacing at Vilya. "You going to be able to get her back up soon?" he ask.
Ten bends over and mutters a small prayer over Vilya, her breathing almost immediately relaxes.
Cast stabilise on her.
"I can try and get her on her feet, but it will be my god's willing," Ten Foot trades in his last first level spell for a cure light wounds.
Trade in last spell of the day for a cure. (1d8+3=9)
"He seems Two rabbits likes her," he smiles as her wounds heal and some colour comes back to her face.

Joleesa Morvais |

Then notices a hawk circling above his location. He attempts to make a hawk cry with his hands circling his mouth, and is very surprised when the hawk seems to take notice and circle lower. Agreed. Very cool!

Sanvoros Draben |

"He seems Two rabbits likes her," he smiles as her wounds heal and some colour comes back to her face.
"Well, someone does, I guess. Fool almost got herself killed, not to mention me and Iz trying to get to her and help. Lady's obviously got a screw loose somewhere."
After that, San retreats a bit, wipes his blade clean of gore, and briefly raises it to the unseen sky, silently giving thanks to the Feathered Serpent for guiding him to victory over these abominations.

Dungeon Monkey |

... "I hope you will wait for my return". And with a reluctent turn he re-enters the opening.
Kudos for the RP writeup. Top notch!
The party fans out and begins searching the large room. This seems to be the main part of the ruined temple, and the walls are lined with ancient Sliss'Pok murals, faded over the eons. Water drips from stalagtites on the ceiling. The smell of rotted carrion is still prevalent.
The crumpled Sliss'Pok with the tentacles is on a higher dias. Behind it, there is a stone statue of a three-eyed monster that looks to be part dinosaur, part octopus and part lizardman. Behind that, the wall shows evidence of a hidden door. There is a discernable crack in the wall, and the stones look less covered in mold.
The crumpled form has a large beltpouch and is dressed in a coarsely-woven robe. A large wicked-looking obsidian dagger is scabbarded on its belt. It also has a staff with a human skull atop it. The skull has two crystal eyes that seem to flicker in the dim torchlight. The dagger, pouch and staff all register as magic when detect magic is used. Nothing else in the room seems to (although there is a residual arcane energy on the weird idol.)
Actions?

Izkrael |

Vilya the Taker |

Izkrael will kneel down and place a hand upon Vilya's forehead, channeling the divine energy of the Feathered Serpent into the guide, knowing that he can't help as much as Ten-Foot, but doing what he can.
That puts her up to 5 HP, I think.
Vilya rises to a sitting position, still blood-covered, and with some heavy bruising beginning to show on her leg and head, but still alive. She opens her mouth, as if she is about to speak, but closes it and says nothing.

Joleesa Morvais |

Joleesa glances down from where she is examining the gear with San. "Good to see you're alright Vilya," she calls down. "You crazy b!tch," she finishes under her breath, just loud enough for San to catch.
She is attempting to help San identify the items.

Sanvoros Draben |

After determining what the stuff is, San is horrified at the blasphemous staff. He throws it to the ground, and unless anyone stops him, brings his greatsword crashing down upon the skull-tipped evil item. "Go to the abyss with your maker!" he shouts. He informs everyone of what the items are only after.
"Bah! Tainted coinage. I want nothing of that."

Tobias Marshalsea |

"Tainted coinage? What are you talking about?" Tobias grabs one of the coins and holds it up to the light. After a few seconds he throws it back into the pile and hastily steps away. "Alright. Xipe Totec. You're right, let's not deal with the money."
Note for those that knew Tobias before this started:
