Follow-up: Regarding the insight boni on the essence crafting for items, what exactly is that to? Attacks? Caster checks? Skill checks? As Gruskorb doesn't have 3 of them at the moment, he must utilize 1 EE in one category and one in another (the aforementioned type being the latter while saves will likely be the former).

Here is a link to the various bonus types.

Deflection: AC
Insight: AC, attacks, checks, saves
Luck: AC, attacks, checks, damage, saves
Morale: Attacks, checks, damage, saves, Str, Con, Dex... but I'm not allowing Str, Con or Dex

So, you could have one EE provide a +1 Luck bonus to Attack and another provide an +1 Insight bonus to attack as well. Or you could make one EE a +1 Insight bonus to Saves and another provide a +1 Morale bonus to damage. Any combination you want.

Also, the number of EE's needed for higher bonuses is compounding like your weapons and armor. So, 1 EE to get +1, then 2 more EE's to get +2, etc.

And you have 3 essences to use right now. 2 are tentatively assigned to the necklace and 1 is unassigned.

I don't know if you noticed this, but due to the spell the psuedodragon gets multiple natural attacks.

1) If he makes a full-attack action, he would launch a number of shards equal to his attacks per round, correct? i'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but it doesn't hurt to be absolutely certain.

2) Assuming that the answer to the prior question is "yes," if he were to get the Rapid Shot feat, could he fire an extra shard with the full-attack action?

1) As I understand it, "sharing" is creating a duplicate of your weapon that is thrown while the original stays put in your hand. I would allow multiple attacks per round, but you would need the Quick Draw feat similar to if you wanted to actually throw several weapons in a round... like daggers.

@Garidan - the innate power of the ioun torch:

1/day the ioun torch can cast a single spell with the 'light' descriptor from the sorcerer's spell list (as this ability comes from Ruza's mother, Alezra Sharpwit). The spell can be any sorcerer spell that could be cast with a level equal to your character level -2. So, at your 3rd level, she could cast a 1st level spell... Snapdragon Fireworks for example; at your 6th level, she could cast a 2nd level spell... etc. She will cast this on your initiative and will expend your swift action.

Is it possible to move an enchantment from one item to another?

For example, would it be possible to move the area of effect ice effect that has no save or attack roll to Truk's axe and then drain the rest of the power from the axe into its essential components?

1) Fair enough, and Garidan has Quick Draw, so no issues there.

2) Bummer, but oh well. That still leaves the ranged feats that will finish the build I envision for Garidan; Close-Quarters Thrower, Distance Thrower, Opening Volley, Point-Blank Shot, and Precise Shot.

Ooooo, shiny (literally ^_^)! This should be fun, though juggling my swift/immediate action is going to get mighty interesting.

Now for the technical questions regarding this ability!

1) Can essences be fed to the torch to improve this ability--more per-day uses, or even getting uses as a free action in exchange for reduced per-day use or reduced spell effect, better caster level--or improve the permitted spells themselves--higher DCs to resist, more damage/targets, better range/area, metamagic feat applications? If so, what types of essences would be required?

2) And whose ability modifier--which I'm assuming will be Charisma--applies to the cast spells, 'Ruza's or Garidan's?

3) I'm also assuming no components will be required, but that the casting time is unchanged (and for spells with long casting times, would the swift action be consumed on the round the spell is started, or the round it is completed and cast?).

4) Can the spell be used to make a scroll with, and would it require material components in that case?

5) I'm assuming concentration checks would be needed if the relevant situation arises.

6) This ability would be (Sp), yes?

Also, regarding the torch itself and certain campaign boons; you permitted 'Ruza to benefit from Teysura's boon of +1 to all saves (the reward for cleansing the font way back in Eastgate) when in Garidan's possession. Does the +1 natural armor from the burnt wood the "Great Chestnut" also apply? She didn't inhale--hehehehehe--but the ioun torch was exposed nonetheless to the smoke.

1) Essence can be fed to the ioun Torch per the rules. You are in effect casting it, so any essences you absorb for evocation will affect the DC's for any evocation [light] spells. The caster level is your level -2. I'd be fine with you adding EE's to get metamagic effects per the wand rules. More uses per day will come via GM boons. I have them worked out just like any limited use effect from any of the essences.

2) Garidan's charisma... again it really is your power channeling through the ioun torch.

3) No components necessary as it is an spell-like ability. I was thinking the casting time would be a swift action... let me know if you're wanting to cast that has a full round casting time. I wasn't aware of any.

4) No.

5) It operates just as an SLA.

1) Awesome. Now I'll have just have to pry the occasional evocation essence away from the other casters in the party :p. When we actually get some, that is. Essences for metamagic effects are also nice to have, as it'll let Garidan wring every little bit of advantage out of those available spells.

2) Well, that works out very fortuitously with being a swashbuckler and having Charisma as a key stat.

3) Good, less stuff to carry, less stuff to scavenge more of when we run out. And I'm not really up on spells and their casting times myself, having played pretty much all martial types thus far on these boards, but I'm putting it out there just in case.

4) I figured this would be case, but making sure never hurts.

5) & 6) Alrighty.

?) Neat! Every little bit helps.

Edit: And I think I just figured out a neat combination for this ability and a few metamagic effects. Garidan'll have to up his level to make it work, but Snapdragon Fireworks has both [Light] and [Fire] descriptors. Apply Elemental Spell to change [Fire] to [Cold], then apply Rime Spell to give the spell the ability to entangle targets damaged by the firework dragons when they burst. Because the spell allows a save for half damage only, even 1 point of damage fulfills the trigger condition of Rime Spell too, which means a no-save auto-entangle for one round! No attack roll needed for the spell, either, and if multiple targets are somehow occupying the chosen square, they all suffer together.

A nasty variation of this combination uses Elemental Spell to split Snapdragon Fireworks' damage between fire and cold, giving it both descriptors at the same time, then add Rime Spell for the entangle effect and further adds Burning Spell for further damage the subsequent round. Again, even 1 point of damage taken by a victim of the spell meets the conditions for setting off the metamagic effect, hehehe.

It turns Snapdragon Fireworks into a 3rd- or 5th-level spell, depending, of course, so Garidan would need a minimum character level of 8 to 12 to even think of pulling this off, the damage is miniscule at best, and Valjoen would have to allow it. But it offers Garidan a pretty neat option at least once a day.

If we find more magic or essences on the scout in the keep, I will roll them to distribute them. However, I'll start with the essences we already have acquired. I'm rolling to see who gets the gnoll grunt's Life Essence because it seems that not all life essences are created equal.

Congrats Truk'tosh! Elemental essences seem to really love you. If you would prefer that this essence be transformed into a fire essence, Niyut would be excited to try her hand at that Ritual. Remember, Elemental Essences -- like Arcane Essences -- improve with more of the same type. So not only would your Fire Resistance go to to 10 your Burning Hands ability would also change in some way. If we were lucky, it might become Burning Arc instead. :-p

Malthazir, I just noticed you can Dream as a spell like ability. Have you tried to use it to contact your people? Have you mentioned you can do it in game because if you have, I would love to try to contact the twin's mother, Asudal.

I haven't, that could be a good idea.

It's an odd ability of his, but he would have no reason to hide it. We can safely assume Malz would have mentioned it at some point while trying to familiarize himself with the abilities of the party.

Since a lot of Niyut's and Truk's angst is the lack of knowledge around what happened to their clan, specifically their mother, can you bring it up in game? It seems like something Niyut would have asked for a long time ago if she had known about it.
