Hey everyone. Sorry. Busy weekend with Spring Break, then yesterday at work I had to deal with a few fires. I'll get a post up later today.
Truk'tosh - I assume you want to move the mummy's body to open the false bottom of the sarcophagus, correct?

It seems like the abilities require you to be in dim illumination when you use them but the effects can extend into other illuminations. Otherwise, things like Darkness and Dimension Door wouldn't work.

The original text of the ability was "This ability is effective only in shadowy areas and has three possible effects". It was changed to "dim light" about the same time the Shadowdancer language was similarly changed. I'd assume that they were only changing the description of the area... "shadowy areas" to "dim illumination"... and not the relative functionality of the ability.
Further, I think the use of shadows and their manipulation is the key here. I'd allow darkness to work as you're expanding the darkness into the lighted area, dimming it by a level. As for Dimension door, I'd say that it would allow you to move from shadow (or a dim area) to another shadow (or dim area). But if you used the shadows to make you Blur or Mirror Image, then walk into a well lit room, the shadows would fade and so would the power.

That makes sense, I would argue that if your Dimension Door reading were correct then it should be Shadow Step instead. However, I think Shadow Step might have been written after that monster was.

Going to save this essence for later. Thematically, the bone golem essence I'm also saving for later is suited to the sharding property I'd eventually like the rapier to have, so that essence will be used--once I get another one for the +2 ability cost--for that purpose. This newest essence from the ghoul huntmaster will be saved for Garidan's future +1 armor price.

All the while trying to keep the wife (their step-mom) happy along with the baby.
My next post will be a fairly long one so not sure when I'll get it up this weekend. Take care of any other prep or other actions. I'll start with Truk'tosh approaching the armored figure.

Well, this is quite annoying. While looking up a rules question for another character, I learned in passing that undead, mindless or otherwise, are immune to the use of Intimidate; the skill's effects are considered mind-affecting effects, which undead simply ignore.
So for Garidan's recent post, his swift action will have to be ignored as never having happened. Instead, Garidan will reserve his immediate action for the usual Opportune Parry and Riposte.
Parry attempt for 1 panache and AoO.
Rapier Attack (Parry): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
If the parry is successful, Riposte as an immediate action. Adding flaming, bane, and passive Precise Strike to the riposte for more damage.
Rapier Attack (Riposte): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
Rapier Damage: 1d8 + 7 + 1d8 + 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 7 + (7) + (5, 1) + 4 = 29
Rapier Attack (Riposte Crit): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Rapier Damage (Critical): 1d8 + 7 + 1d4 + 1d4 ⇒ (8) + 7 + (3) + (3) = 21

It was a tough call. First, your knowledge check came while in you were in the dream. Second, he is a unique monster. The creatrue inside the dream is a different creature than the one in front of you now. The primary way to hurt this one is to destroy it inside the dream which both you and Truk'tosh did. Gruskorb was defeated and Garidan is still fighting. If 3 of the 4 of you are victorious inside the dream, you will destroy his immunities outside the dream. Until then, he is immune to magical attacks and physical attacks.
There is another way to defeat him, but you'll need to figure it out. I have given you a few clues.

Quick rundown of that encounter so far:
Entering the room triggered the symbol of sleep which everyone failed their save, except Malthazir who was immune as an elf. Inside the dream you were confronted with a phantom armor that was modified personally for each of you. It was given immunity to your main mode of attack/damage but vulnerability to any other form of damage. So, immune to combat maneuvers for Gruskorb, immunity to piercing for Garidan, immune to slashing for Truk'tosh and immune to magic for Niyut. A single successful hit/damage by any other means would have destroyed the creature and awakened you.
Inside the tomb, was the one thing that your bonded spirit wanted to see the most.
Finally, inside the dream if you realized you were in a dream or attempted to disbelieve, you were given a DC20 will check to take control of the dream. If successful, any thing you wanted to see, to have, to happen, etc., would come to fruition given another will check DC12. The better you beat the DC, the more powerful the result.
The creature needed to be defeated in 3 of the 4 dreams to destroy it in the real world. Additionally, if you were in the real world and you have a critical hit with either a weapon or magic requiring a "to hit" roll, that would count as 1 defeat. The 'critical' hit was an alternative victory in case more than one person failed inside the dream. You could die inside the dream and have it kill your character... as almost happened to Gruskorb.
Once the phantom armor was defeated, the second phase of the encounter started with the appearance of the current undead.
It was tricky to give you hints and suggestions as to what was going on without totally giving it away. I tried to word descriptions and use phrases that would make you realize things weren't "real". Hope you enjoyed the first part. Let's see if you live through the second part. It is the highest CR you've faced so far.

Ooo, Niyut is busy :p, my chance to hand out essences to my minions unwitting pawns companions has finally come!
One each to Malthazir and Niyut, and two to Truk'tosh brings everyone up to nine essences apiece.
Now let's see how the dice decide the last two!
Ethereal Essence #5: 1d5 ⇒ 3
1: Garidan
2: Gruskorb
3: Malthazir
4: Niyut
5: Truk'tosh
Malthazir is the lucky winner!
Ethereal Essence #6: 1d4 ⇒ 1
1: Garidan
2: Gruskorb
3: Niyut
4: Truk'tosh
Yay for me!
Assuming nobody has issue with these results, I'll add my new geist essence to the saved bone golem essence and give Garidan's rapier the sharding property. Valjoen, since I'm using two different essences for this, could I get a choice between thematic abilities from each source creature, or would you like me to pick a "dominant" essence first and then you throw out some abilities to choose from?

Garidan, you need to disregard the Life Essences. Those are dolled out separately. Everyone has 1, except you have 2.
By my count before this distribution..
Garidan: 6 total: 6 Ethereal
Gruskorb: 7 total: 6 Ethereal & 1 Earth.
Malthazir: 6 total: 6 Ethereal
Niyut: 7 total: 5 Ethereal & 2 Arcane
Truk: 6 total: 4 Ethereal, 1 Fire & 1 Earth
Or am I missing some?

Wasn't aware that life essences were tracked seperate from the rest, my efforts are undone by this vile, accursed accounting detail!
And yes, you missed some in your count. Your counts for Garidan and Malthazir were off by one ethereal each. It should be:
Garidan: 7 ethereal, 2 life
Gruskorb: 7 ethereal, 1 earth, 1 life
Malthazir: 7 ethereal, 1 life
Niyut: 5 ethereal, 2 arcane, 1 life
Truk'tosh: 4 ethereal, 1 fire, 1 earth, 1 life.
And we picked up 6 extra ethereals from that punching bag geist. If evening up was still the goal, it would be be:
x1 Garidan
x1 Malthazir
x1 Niyut
x2 Truk'tosh
And then the results of the two dice rolls.

Garidan will have, after the last roll, 4 unused Ethereal Essences (9 EE)
Malthazir will have, after the last roll, 3 unused Ethereal Essences (9 EE)

The Geist could have tpked us if it were more tactical. It could have retreated into the wall to wait out the blindness. Then it could have done touch attacks from the floor while we would be unable to counterattack. I'm glad it didn't

I'm really enjoying the game. I have one quality of life request -- now that we are wrapping up this dungeon -- for the next dungeon.
We have established that when we are exploring we make stealth checks, perception checks, and detect magic. It would speed things along when we are exploring that the GM keeps us moving until we hit the next crisis (or event) (while rolling checks for our established protocols). Waiting for us to reply that we try to open the door or walk down a hallway just wastes time.

Yeah, I looked up the geist after the fight. Nasty bastard, and ironically, it had Blind-Fight as a feat too. That could have been a much uglier fight for us, with Grusorb down and Malthazir reduced to spitballing cantrips at it for chip damage. Some good saves for us, one bad save for it, and some really good damage rolls made all the difference. I'll take a win like that any day, lol, considering what it could have been.
Of course, now we need to actually get the staff back to Talanor, and right quick.
