What this feels like
Nice. :) Let me put a plug in for the book. Some much better than the movie.

Truer words have rarely been spoken. The book is great. The movie is...ok on its own rights, but an absolutely terrible attempt at adapting the book.

Especially the "suit". There was no attempt to replicate the suit, which was a crime. It was way cool powered armor.

A week from yesterday I will be getting married. Today through Wednesday I may be partially available, but Thursday through Wednesday I will be unavailable. I'm truly hoping things will start to settle down for me again after that.

Goggeck Ghack |

Argh, it's been a while. No covid but a bad sinus infection.
I'm slowly rebalancing the spinning plates of pbp posting. :)

GM_Armok |

Thank you all. I wish I could say I got hitched without a hitch, but hurricane Zeta blew in straight over our venue and swamped out our rehearsal dinner. But in the end, we made it happen and things went beautifully from there on out. Came home to the power company having to replace all our panels and breakers, so hadn’t had power for a day. Tryna catch up now before I start work again tomorrow. Hope all is well!

Brunhild Liefdottir |

With the ants reaching us, now is probably the best time to say this.
I was in one other dwarven campaign. The group slaughtered it's way through orcs and giants alike, with nothing stopping them. Until the party was TPK'd by a plant.
Anyways, I'm sure we'll do just fine against these insects!

GM_Armok |

If it turns sour, you’ve got that earth elemental summoning gem in your pocketses.

Brunhild Liefdottir |

Think that for a massed combat like this, it might work best at the end of the round to split to block initiative? That way we just take the average party initiative. It would likely speed things up[

GM_Armok |

I will try it on the next round. I am afraid it will make combat even more swingy, and I also fear the work I have to do on my posts, but hopefully you keep whittling their numbers.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Through the line of work I do, I see more and more people personally effected by the corona virus. Much confusion, uncertainty, fear, and loss. My well wishes for everyone this holy day season. Stay safe, stay healthy.

Glor Stonebeard |

Where I live I see too many people living like there is no virus. Large gatherings, stores open, and no masks (even bars and gyms). Even when stores have signs stating a mask requirement they do not enforce it. I'd guess that 80% of people are masking but that 20% stands out.
I know one person who almost died. 3 weeks in the hospital. Lungs damaged.
I work from home so I don't see it as much as you GM_Armok, but it's all over the news.

Brunhild Liefdottir |

The irresponsibility is stunning. I think that we need to rethink the phrase "avoid something like the plague" because as a whole, we aren't very good at avoiding plagues

Adu Hilnack |

My wife works at a neurology office, and she's been furious with her management recently because they're just not taking it seriously. Not screening people before letting them in the building, reducing telework hours, they even had a doctor come in and see patients after he had been exposed and was supposed to be quarantining. Half our friends think we're crazy for continuing to isolate.
No wonder cases are spiking.

Glor Stonebeard |

But I am reminded of the saying "Anyone who drives faster than me is a maniac. Anyone who drives slower is an idiot." I have one good friend who I think has gone too far in isolating. He lives alone and does not leave his house even monthly. He has not bought gas since this pandemic started. Better safe than sorry but he has given up a year of his life basically. I still visit family which require long drives. But no going inside restaurants to eat, certainly no bars, and I wear a mask even for drive throughs. When traveling I try to only stop a rest areas.
In general I am for less government but it sure makes sense to have a lockdown everywhere all at the same time instead of random scattered lock downs.

GM_Armok |

I apologize, I thought I had posted on Friday, but I see now the post didn't go through. Maybe I just hit the preview button without actually submitting. Will repost in the morning.

GM_Armok |

I’m going out of town tomorrow, will be back Saturday.
Toulbe and Hezekh get your posts in today before I bot you!

GM_Armok |

Hey y’all: general interest poll:
I seem to be doing a bit of Botting lately, so how’s everyone feeling?
How is everyone over all?
Thoughts on the game?
Shall we break until after the new year?

Glor Stonebeard |

I am here. Would like a faster pace. I have not reason to break but am fine with that if it helps others.

GM_Armok |

Thank you Brunhild and Glor for checking in.
Due to the lack of other responses, and due to my own life circumstances, I will check in again after the New Year to get a read on engagement. Until then, the game is paused.
After the New Year, my now wife will be working out of state for a month and a half, and so I expect I will be able to dedicate more time and energy into the game during that time. So, please, if you are able, check in with me. I'd rather see the game move forward than dwindle into dust.

Brunhild Liefdottir |

Wishing you and yours a happy holidays! And agreed on now wanting the game to dwindle away. It's a good one, and I, for one, would love to see it through to its completion.

Adu Hilnack |

Hi everyone.
I'm very sorry for disappearing like that. I've been pretty sick for the past few weeks, and at this point don't expect to start feeling better anytime in the immediate future. Therefore I'm dropping out of all my games. (Which I had unofficially done anyway I guess.)
Again, I'm very sorry I didn't say anything sooner, I just kept hoping things would get better and I'd be able to rejoin. It was great playing with you all, and I wish you the best of luck.

Goggeck Ghack |

Merry Christmas, everyone!
Still not clear here. I'm hoping to catch up in the new year.

GM_Armok |

Thank you Adu. I hope you and Goggeck get well, and soon.
I want to do one more check in with everyone before deciding what to do with the campaign.
How are you? How are you feeling about the game? What kind of injection does it need to remain healthy?

Glor Stonebeard |

I am good and would like to continue. It would be great to get back to a post a day from everyone, at least on weekdays. And its clear to me that we need to do something so that a round of combat does not take two weeks. Perhaps this will require group initiatives or botting some.

Brunhild Liefdottir |

Yup, I'd like to keep going. It's a good campaign, would hate to see it join the list of inactive ones just because some momentum was lost.

GM_Armok |

Hey y’all.
Sorry for the delays again. The thing is, my life has become overwhelming. I’m falling behind on everything these days, and it’s been difficult for me to sit down and focus on any one thing. Because of this, and because it seems I’m down to two players left in this game, I’m going to put this campaign to rest. Glor and Brunhild, thank you for your enthusiasm, and thanks to everyone who has contributed to the campaign. It was fun. A lot of work, but fun.
So, again, my deepest thanks and apologies. RIP Strike the Earth.

Brunhild Liefdottir |

I had fun with this as well. Thank you for running the campaign, and hope that we can write a story again in the future.
