Varisia travels with the rest of the party back to the Necropolis entrance with their haul. At the entrance he attempts to get a location where their goods might be unloaded, a museum or university, preferably. He also puts the stank(Arch Luck) on it.

"Well, looks like there is enough time to make it out of here at least. That's nice. But I don't want to risk it with the chariot."

After looking over the gear Zariya picks out the lapis and carnelian pendant, about the same time as Zohreh... She looks over at her with puppy eyes and a sad smile. Well, it always worked with my dad, it doesn't hurt to try it here. "Can I have it, please? It'll really brighten up my atire."

"We should keep the various healing potions, both reatorative and for normal wounds. You never know when you'll need them."

Before they go to haggle Zariya touches Varisia briefly. "May the light of Sarenrae guide you to find the best deals." She'll also do the same to herself and Jardar.

Zohreh seems unmoved by the eyes. "We can toss a coin for it," she says. "Here, boys, one of you flip this for us. I call heads." She produces a coin from her bag and hands it over.

Varisia holds his hand out palm up. When Zohreh places the coin into his hand he raises the coin to his lips and gives it a kiss. With a quick flick of this thumb the coin performs a series of flips before he deftly snatches it from the air and places it on the back of the opposite hand. He takes a quick peek before revealing the result.

He removes the covering hand revealing the coin tails side up and shows it to the interested pair.

I think we are waiting for a) to see if we make it to the shops and b) How our diplomacy affect the prices (sadly double 30 is only like 32 actual score). Depending on how that goes we might be looking to purchase further gear, though it would be nice to figure out how to pick up our remaining member(s?).

Zariya rushes over to Varisia and hugs him tightly with a bit smile and then kisses him. "You got tail!"

Her beaming doesn't stop as she disentangles herself to receive the pendant from Zohreh.

"Now let's see if we can make it out of here without further trouble and what'll we be able to get for the rest of the things." She says and looks out over the empty streets, ready to lead the party out of the necropolis. "Maybe we should get some more members now, seeing as Arasmes and Lorn left us?"


You make it to the shops. To recruit your new members, perhaps returning to the Tooth and Hookah to see if any new arrivals have made it back to reinforce the Golden Sun Hunters?


Your diplomacy roll manages to raise your percentage in selling stuff to 55%. It would be higher, but the town is starting to see an influx of ancient artifacts from previous expeditions and outsider traffic.


I assume we don't get the prices listed for the items, so how much exactly do we get? Also are there items we can buy?

'I'm sure we could have gotten more for those masks I couldn't have been THAT far off!' Varisia continues to insist that they had been swindled by the man claiming to be from the University of Phoenixes as the group goes about their shopping. As he enters each shop his demeanor instantly changes from sullen and bitter to cheerful and optimistic as he begins to wheel and deal with the owner.

After acquiring their goods he sets up at a corner table in the Tooth and Hookah. He inventories his new belongings. A handful of alchemist's fire and vermin repellent, to keep swarms at bay. Some vials of holy water in case the dead begin moving about. Some alchemist's solvent to deal with anything glued shut.

Finally he reaches the real prizes of his shopping spree, his new whip and chain shirt. Varisia had chosen these carefully to match his developing motif. The whip handle is embossed with scarabs down the handle and the butt knot is a golden scarab clutching a golden sun. The chain shirt has a golden scarab displayed prominently just below the neckline and on each shoulder.

Varisia smiles as he imagines the dashing figure he'll cut as the group makes their way to get their new assignment in the morning.

Once they've sold off their gear, Zohreh carefully selects a magical breastplate and some vermin repellent. Her shopping done quickly, she seeks out her father's caravan for some well-deserved family bonding time. Her father is relieved to find her in one piece and, in fact, thriving. She heals some of the merchants who haven't been able to handle the spicy foods of the city.

Then, she heads to the Church of Shelyn to update them with the status of her divine mission, though there isn't much to share; she might really have gone there for its spa. She comes out of the baths to find that her breastplates now has roses emblazoned all over it. Her fellow clerics seem to be on a mission to spruce her up.

She heads over to the group's previous stomping ground and whistles as she catches sight of Varisia's spiffy new gear.

"You've had a productive day!" she says. "The Scarab Hunter... maybe the rest of us should step up our games." She looks down at her breastplate and makes a face. "Though I don't think my sisters in the church will give me much choice in the matter."

She looks around the inn. "See anyone battle-hardy who might be looking for a group of brave adventurers to join?"

After depositing his share of the treasure at the bank of Abadar, Jandar-Ki joins the rest of the group at the Tooth and Hookah.

"Zohreh, how strong is your divine magic? I fear Varisia might have been possessed in that tomb. He's trying to dress like Akhentepi."

Varisia taps the scarab on his chest with the golden ball on the butt knot of his whip.

'Only possessed with a sense of style, Jandar-Ki. I think seeing the story of Mumu the Great played out so completely inspired me to dress a little better. Who knows, someday I may open my own clothier.


After selling their stuff Zariya tags along with Varisia for shopping. She spots a beautiful gilded breastplate with a sun motif. "A golden sun hunter breastplate? I gotta have that. Sarenrae is also the sun goddess." She learns that the breastplate is enchanted, but sadly right out of her price-range, even with trading in her old one. "Varisia, can I please borrow some money? You want me to survive right?" She hopes her beady eyes work better with him than with Zohreh, though she gives him a kiss for good measure.

After shopping the breastplate she acquires a cold iron lucene hammer. Some enemies are less resistant to some kind of weapons, this should be able to cover most weaknesses together with my fauchard. She also get some more alchemical weapons in case they encounter more swarms.

"I do like your clothing Varisia." Zariya says. Honestly he could dress in pretty much anything and still look good.

Varisia shoots Zariya a warm smile and tips his hat to her. 'Ladies, you're too kind. You both seem to have come away equal parts stunning and dashing in your new armors as well. If nothing else we'll be the best dressed group in the Necropolis'

Varisia tries to find a good place for the clasp to be prominently displayed. Would a cape be too much?. As he considers his evolving look he gets another, more urgent idea.

'How about this? I'll buy a round for everyone here in the Tooth and Hookah and we'll see who comes and thanks us. It will filter out the loner oddballs and we'll know they have some manners. While we make small talk we can size them up and if we think they're worth our time we can offer them a job. Maybe we can even make an announcement of our intent when we order the round.' Varisia looks to his group to judge their reactions.


"That sounds like a good idea to me!" She says and strokes him affectionately. Though I wish he would pay some more attention to me... It's all about the group, the relics and the wealth for now... I am a princess. I deserve the attention.

Varisia pushes back his chair and makes his way to the bar. He leans across to whisper a quick apology to the soon to be beset wait staff and gives the owner a sly wink. He moves to the spot where he thinks the lighting would be best to showcase his new gear. He draws in a breath and stomps loudly a few times to get the common room's attention.

'First, the good news! I'll be buying you all a drink!' Varisia waits for any reaction to die down before pressing on. 'Second, my friends and I are looking for a few able bodies and minds to join us in the Necroplois to help us secure our fortunes. Remember to tip your waitstaff, the drinks are free, the hospitality is not.'

When the room fell silent, at the insistence of the Human man, Fionn glanced up from where he sat, his back against the wall. He watched the man as he spoke, noting the bright and shiny new gear he was wearing, and the group of friends he was keeping and nodding to himself. 'They look like a likely lot...'

He had arrived too late to the lottery to get in to the first round of draws but he had hoped to get in with a group and had heard that this Inn was the place to be. He nodded in thanks to the Waitress as she brought him another tumbler of whiskey and slid her a pair of silver coins for her trouble.

He watched the crowd for a few minutes, sipping on the whiskey, reaching down to scratch Chulainn between the ears, before sighing and standing slowly, stretching and making his way over to the group.

"Go raibh maith agat mo chairde! My name is Fionnid Mac'Cuainn, Fionn to my friends. You are looking for some people to help with your lot in the Necropolis? Myself and Chulainn can be of some use I would wager!" He smiled, rubbing the Wolfhound on the head. "Ta bron orm! Chulainn is a big softy really so I hope none of you will take it amiss if he and I join your table?"

A slender but strong looking Garundi woman walks toward Varisia James. Her mouth is pursed as if with indecision, but she speaks with him after a moment. Her garments are simple and black, marking her of lower-class origins, traces of Bargetown in her accent, but her movements and speech are refined, speaking of learning and training beyond her birthplace.

"I am Nenet Katenaten, and I am of Wati. I would join you, but I am not a...looter of tombs. If I can trust that you handle items with respect, and research the lore that you uncover, then I would accompany you."

She looks at the assembled group, and a haughty look blooms over her dark features. "And you need a Wati native, I suppose. I am well-versed in Osiriani lore, and speak the languages therein, including that of the sphinxes, in addition to having psychic magic."

She looks at Fionnid. "The Necropolis is nothing to take lightly, for man nor beast."


Fionnid, your AC should be +4 Armor, +4 Dex, and/or shield. Your AC is right, but chain shirt gives +4 to Armor.

He shook his head making an apologetic gesture. "I am not suggesting this would be easy or safe, that is why I am trying to join up, to test myself, make some coin and explore the ruins of an old civilization. I am well aware of the dangers that we will likely face, I have heard stories, I know some history and it isn't like the Necropolis is the only dangerous place in the world, nach ea?"

'I can assure you we're no common looters, I for one am here to fill in some gaps in the historical record by going right to the source. Zohreh beckons the two forth to the empty chairs at the table, then focuses on another target altogether.

"C'mere, boy!" she says to Chulainn and reaches out to pet his head. She does not have much of a way with animals but does enjoy their companionship. She looks up at Fionn. "Is this all right?"

A little abashed by her distractedness, she nods at the newcomers. "I am Zohreh of the Bulls tribe. The goddess Shelyn, whom I serve, has bid me to investigate the tombs."

She turns to Nenet. "I know little of this psychic magic. How does it work?"

Chulainn tilts his head to the side, staring at the hand before giving it a sniff and a quick lick, before sitting back and panting. When the Half-Orc woman calls him over, he barks happily and moved closer for a scratch, looking up at the woman with big brown eyes.

Fiona, taking this as a good sign, takes a seat, moving so that his back is against something solid.

"Aye that is more than okay. He is a big pet really, he just wants a scratch. That ain't to say he can't get mean if he sees I'm in trouble though. He is a good friend to have. And as I feed him I guess that makes me alright and all. Ask and I'll answer as many questions as I can, as best I can!"

First Varisia eyes Fionnid up and down, then he looks down at Chulainn. He considers the wolf for a moment and then looks back to Fionnid. He nods down at Chulainn.

'How much does he eat? Varisia takes a drink of his ale and leans back.

Chulainn backs away from Various and moves to the other side of Fionnid, laying down beside his chair, eyeing the Bard with mistrust. Fionn frowns in confusion before shrugging and answering the question. "About a Dire rat or so every other day, two if he can get em!" Fionn grinned to show he was joking.

"But seriously, I will buy all of the food he will need, before we set off. I have that covered."

Varisia chuckles lightly at Fionnid's joke. He eyes Chulainn a little warily, animals always seemed to react to him like this, no matter how nice he tried to treat them. 'And what if he gets ill? or injured?'


Zariya smiles at the newcomers. "Welcome, I'm Zariya. It's a pleasure to meet you. The most important thing to me is that you are simply good people."

She gets serious and focuses for a moment before a smile of relief paints her face. "And you don't detect as evil, which is good. I'm a paladin of Sarenrae. I'll do my best to protect you all with my trusty fauchard here." She touches the weapon briefly.

"Your psychic magic sounds useful Nenet, even if I'm not all that versed in it. What about you Fionn? What are your skills? Are you more than a dog-handler? I see that you got some weapons at your back. Having another strong arm beside me in combat wouldn't hurt, or perhaps you favor the bow?"
