GM Sior |
Decay turns to the treasure hunters only to see them disappearing behind the corner into the main room, running scared of the creature.
The allip tries to resist the dirge.
will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

GM Sior |
Was going to check the die result, but got sidetracked by doctor.
The spell goes off, leaving the allip more solid than it would prefer. Mundane weapons can now damage it while magic weapons and spells will deal full damage. This will last for 3 rounds.
Darvik and Prothero are up. Teric is fascinated still for three more rounds after this one.
Darvik Willowbrook |
Darvik moves around the table and attacks the creature with his weapon!
Scimitar: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 for Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Prothero Crace |
Prothero looses two more of his ghost salt-treated arrows at the allip.
Flurry with Longbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Longbow damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Flurry with Longbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Longbow damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
4/8 salty arrows left
GM Sior |
Darvik slices into the allip and Prothero sends two more arrows into it!
1d4 ⇒ 3
From the southwest alcove, a body shambles from the ground, drawn to the unholy power of the allip! It goes for the nearest creature to disturb its resting place: Borax!
Slam!: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 plus a Fortitude save against zombie rot!
With the gem now out of hostile hands, the allip can focus on ridding all life from the room, not just the one who was holding it.
Touch attack on Darvik!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
1d4 ⇒ 2 Wisdom damage, Will save negates
Party up! Teric is still happy where he is =)
Prothero Crace |
Sior - I forgot to include PBS in my shots last round, so if you'll allow it, Prothero's arrows should have done a total of 2 additional points of damage to the allip.
Prothero fires two more arrows at the allip.
Flurry with Longbow, PBS: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Longbow damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Flurry with Longbow, PBS: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Longbow damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
2/8 salted arrows left
GM Sior |
Save your arrows, those last two would have felled it with those other two points. The zombie still stands, however!
Prothero Crace |
Okay, then let's call my attacks above regular arrows at the zombie. And I'll throw in a Knowledge check on him too:
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
4/8 ghost-salted arrows left
Darvik Willowbrook |
Yay, no will save needed then!
Darvik takes a 5' step toward the zombie that his harassing his new friend Borax!
Scimitar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 for Slashing: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Shield: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 for Blunt: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Confirm?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 for Slashing: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Sior |
Darvik steps up and slices the zombie clean in two... before it explodes in a cloud of ichor.
Fort save from Darvik and Borax (if Borax makes the first save)
Out of Combat!
In the aftermath of the fight, the broken ruby sets on the ground where Borax dropped it. It and the corpses are all that remain of the Jeweled Sages. Amenophaeus will want to know, so all that remains is to contact him so he may investigate it further.
Teric Cain |
Teric suddenly looks around at the others and notices the zombie corpse and the rest looking rather spent. "Ah, well, that was good work everyone. Nice job. We should report this to Amenophaeus." He dusts his clothes off, looking quite pleased.
Borax Bulan |
Save your arrows, those last two would have felled it with those other two points. The zombie still stands, however!
So hold on, it seems like Borax got skipped over for a movement. Also I thought zombies are not allowed to move and attack in the same round because of the staggared condition?
Teric Cain |
Teric pulls out the stone, though he glances at the hallway where the other group retreated. "It is odd they didn't attempt to help."
He shouts down the corridor. "I thought Ulfens were braver than that!"
Prothero Crace |
Prothero can't help but grin at Teric's antics, though he says, "I'm not sure another fight is what we need right now, Teric. We still need to get back across the desert in one piece. But I have to agree, they lit out pretty fast."
Borax Bulan |
Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Borax attempts to resist the effects of the zombie as tries to identify it.
K. Religion vs Zombie: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 + Inspiration: 1d6 ⇒ 2
If this knowledge check is high enough, Then Borax will warn the others and withdraw on his turn which comes before Darvik moves. I shouldn't lose my spot in the init order because I'm not on 24/7
If the K Check is not high enough...
Fort Save 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 I'll spend two inspirations to boost my save Inspiration on Save: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Prothero Crace |
Prothero catches the communication stone thrown by Teric, and is considering how to report what they've learned and what has happened to Amenophaeus.
"Now that's a fine idea, Borax," Prothero says, "wish I'd thought of it. Let's bring it back to the sarcophagus and see if we can learn anything."
I don't want to drag this out since Sior has said 'all that remains is to contact' Amenophaeus, but repairing the gem does seem like a logical thing to try to do. But if we can speed through that bit, I'd be good with it.
Sior |
Understandable, Borax, but it's moot regardless as the second Fort was fine without the inspiration =P.
You hear a very faint shout from the ruins, growing quieter, but you get the idea that the treasure hunter heard that and sent only some obscene words back to you in response.
As Prothero handles the communication stone contemplating what to report, the party returns to the sarcophagus in the library only to find that the magic has been expended for the day.
Borax Bulan |
With the allip destroyed and the threat of the previous adventurers removed, Borax suggests the group wait a day. This will give the group a chance to heal up and be at full strength before entering the desert.
Darvik Willowbrook |
Let's get out of here already. I really hate this place. Darvik doesn't seem to care about gems, Ulfens, or water elementals.
Prothero Crace |
After consulting with the party on how best to convey what they've seen and what they've learned, Prothero activates the stone and passes on the message to Amenopheus. He tells the Sapphire Sage what condition they found the other Sages in, and that the Ruby is damaged, but they've learned some about the repair of such gems, as well as any other pertinent points the group identifies as likely to be of value to the scholar.
He feels somewhat odd talking to a stone, with the rest of the party curiously looking on, but he concludes the message and waits for a reply.
Sior |
It does not take long for Amenopheus' voice to return to you through the stone. I see. Very well. Hold there, Pathfinders. I shall join you shortly.
After about an hour, the former Sage arrives at the ruins. He listens to all that has transpired and of the methods found for repairing the stone. He asks you for the stone, at which point he is surprised to feel the faint magic contained within. Going to the table upon which is was found, the Sage holds his hand over the gem and chants.
At his words, one of the corpses around the table moves and seems to revert in form to a time when she was alive and well. She looks at Amenopheus and bows in gratitude. Turning to you, she speaks in a voice soft and low as though echoes down the corridors of centuries.
"My thanks to you, adventurers, for putting my colleague's spirit to rest. It was he who became possessed by some unknown force, killed myself and our friend before turning his blade against himself. Through all these years I have kept a limited degree of awareness from within the gem.
"For many years we sat undisturbed from outside forces until shortly before your arrival. A man came in and collected the other two gems. When the thief handled one of my shards, I was able to read his thoughts before he discarded the fragment and fled. The thief is a man named Kafar, who had intentions of delivering the jewels to the Diamond Sage in a region known as the Pillars of the Sun. It is there that we Jeweled Sages’ built our sanctum, but it strikes both me as odd that the Diamond Sage would collect the gems there instead of finding new candidates to become sages elsewhere in Osirion."
Amenopheus nods, voicing his own concern that the Diamond Sage’s actions are not typical for the order, and he is dismayed that the jewels may be in the hands of known enemies of the Pathfinder Society.
Sharing her fellow sage’s concern, the Ruby Sage turns to you. "If you would chase down this thief Kafar, reclaim the stolen jewels, and find the Diamond Sage to learn what she intends, I shall give you what power I can to aid you."
A wave of energy and power emanates from the gem, instilling you all with power. Immediately after, the Sage's corpse slumps and returns to its desiccated form.
Amenopheus turns to you. "This is a rare gift and a dire need. However, I know some of you may not be strong enough to see this to the end. Gather your resources and your strength quickly, agents, then find me to continue this quest. Before I leave, though, it seems some of you are suffering from afflictions of this place. I can take care of one of those for you."
I believe Darvik expressed interest in this, though Borax is able to voice his desire for a remove curse as well for the ring.
And if you haven't done so, please put day job rolls and boon rolls in the Discussion forum.
That concludes Destiny of the Sands Part II! Thank you all for playing!
Darvik Willowbrook |
Yes, I am afflicted with some sort of... I don't know what it is but I'd sure like to be able to see clearly again.
Borax Bulan |
"Yes, I am afflicted as well. In order to assist your further I would need this curse removed."
Darvik Willowbrook |
Can we agree to split the cost of the one we have to pay for? If not I'll pay for mine to be removed.
Darvik Willowbrook |
150gp? Bah. Darvik will just pay for it. No worries.
Sior, are you going to run Part 3 also or have plans changed?
Prothero Crace |
I like that approach, nice of everyone to kick in. So if everyone's okay with it, that's 300 gp divided by 5 PCs = 60 gp each. Better than the 150 I thought I'd have to spend.
Prothero Crace |
You are also permitted to spend your character’s gold to help a party member purchase spellcasting services such as raise dead or remove disease.
So we should be good.
Sior |
Amenopheus cures one of you of the curse, and the party splits the difference. Sounds like a plan!
We just need one day job and boon roll from Defah and this is ready to be reported!
I can still run part 3, though I do not know what we would do in the interim while everyone gets to at least level 3. A few options were kicked around, such as running a module, scenarios, or simply waiting.
Oh, and I should mention everyone is getting THREE Chronicle sheets for this scenario. Yes, I said THREE. I should have those available soonish.
(Only 1 exp, 2 Prestige, as usual, only the boon spreads over two other sheets. I should make sense once you get them.)
Prothero Crace |
I'm hoping to pick up a couple of chronicles for Prothero at PaizoCon, but that may put me ahead of most of the party except for Darvik.
If you're willing to run some scenarios for us after July 4th weekend, Sior, that'd be great - we just need to be sure the math works out for where everyone ends up level-wise. I have lots of them I haven't played.
Darvik Willowbrook |
Yeah, we can see what we can come up with. Darvik can wait for the others to reach 3rd or if we can find a module to run for 2nd and 3rd level characters that we can all play, that's cool also.
Teric Cain |
Teric is as far from level 3 as he could be since he started these scenarios with 0xp. I'm happy to do a module. I won't have much other opportunity to apply xp to him.
