Think I am ready. I paid for a cold iron great sword, if that's okay, DM. Thank goodness for max gold in this one!

A few background tweaks to hook you all a bit more into the setting...
The Everbright Crusaders: The Everbright Crusaders allow only the most virtuous warriors, who live lives of temperance and restraint, into their ranks. Members scrupulously avoid drinking, gambling, and lying, and take any promises they make seriously. In addition to attending religious services once a week, members spend at least an hour a day in prayer. Among the crusader camps, the Everbright Crusaders garner respect for their conviction and battle prowess, but their rigidity and superior attitudes tend to alienate others.
The Order of the Flaming Lance: The Order of the Flaming Lance believes in doing what needs to be done to triumph. They stay within the bounds of law and righteousness—but sometimes only by the narrowest margin. None doubt the fierce conviction of the order’s crusaders, but some whisper that the order cares more about vanquishing evil than maintaining their own purity.
The Order of the Sunrise Sword: The Order of the Sunrise Sword is well established in Kenabres. They were once known for the great ballads and odes their members composed about the crusades, but after an incident in which several of their number were possessed by demons, they have altered their focus to exorcism.
The Eagle Watch: The Eagle Watch is a group of righteous crusaders who realized that though most of their enemies live in the Worldwound across the river, a great many walk the streets of Kenabres and make their camps north of the city walls. The group was founded by an Eagle Knight who felt that the greater threat to freedom wasn’t Andoran’s clashes with Cheliax, but rather the Abyssal rift spitting demons into world. Dismayed by the behavior of their brothers and sisters, the Eagle Watch seek to rid the crusaders of corruption and improper vices. Many other crusader groups see the Eagle Watch as a nuisance, and even Prelate Hulrun, leader of the "witch burners" in the city, works to keep them marginalized.

Lydia "Lyddy" Bentsen |

Lyddy's mother is a member of the Order of the Sunrise Sword, personally sworn to Iomedae's service. Crunch-wise, she was Brd1/Pal3. The infiltration of her order by abyssal servants (whether she was here when it happened or it pre-dates her crusade) has had a strong influence on her view of her responsibilities. This had a significant effect on her relationship with her daughter after mistaking Lyddy's curse for a demonic possession. Even after repeated assurances from the highest religious authorities available in Kenabres, she has been distant and warchful of Lyddy. This has not been lost on Lyddy, who remains a bit confused about the change.
Lyddy's father came to the Worldwound full of despair and doubt. Not in his faith ala Certainty, but in his role. After successful one-man crusades against goblins and giants to protect small villages on the frontier, he feared that he had resorted to methods that made him as bad as those he drove from the villages. After a year of quiet and the arrival of a replacement in the form of a cleric of the Inheritor, he packed the few possessions he wished to keep on his mount and made for the Worldwound, a rogue in holy warrior guise. After arriving, his faith and his purpose in life were renewed and his heart was healed when he met Lyddy's mother. Less interested in fighting possession and writing odes to the fallen, he has served the Order of the Flaming Lance. Ironically, he is considered one of their more traditional members and has spent much of his service as an administrator of sorts, a role his fellows are all too happy to cede to him. After the advent of Lyddy's curse and the subsequent development of her gifts, he has found the time to work with his daughter and prepare her for Iomedae's service - in whatever capacity. He has suspected that Lyddy had some other path to walk, but he does not want to dissuade her from her goal of being a paladin. Better that she discover for herself. Crunch-wise, he is Pal4.
In Lyddy's first attempt to join an order, she signed up as a knight-in-training with her mother's order, but met the same suspicious looks from them as she catches her mother giving when she thinks Lyddy is not looking.
A year later, after extensive training with her father, she tried to join the Everbright Crusaders, but they found her lacking. She has tried six different orders. None wish to tell her father what he already suspects - that his daughter lacks the native purity of heart Iomedae expects of her holiest warriors. So he continues to encourage her to find her path and serve the goddess as best she can with the gifts she has.
She has come to accept his implied counsel - that she can struggle to be a paladin, wasting her potential in an attempt to achieve something she wants, or she can listen to her heart and her goddess and spend her life doing what the goddess wishes instead. She's listening with all her heart, hoping the answer comes soon after so much striving for the wrong path.

What's the ETA on kicking this one off? Is everyone ready now? I'm ready to battle some baddies!

Ferret |

At the moment, actually, I was just waiting for Ferret to touch back in on the info in their spoilers above; as soon as that happens, we're ready to rock.
*hangs head in shame*
Honestly didn't think there was anything to respond to in there, so it never occurred that I needed to. Carry on.

tieflingwizard |

Any more room for me? I'm trying to make an oracle. But some of the aspects are confusing me (spells) because this is my first Pathfinder character (as well as my first spellcaster). If so, could someone help me finish this character in time to play?
I have a thread on this character. It's right here.

Gerald |

Very fun jousting, AG! I see Ellena as being quick tempered, then retreating, after considering her vows. I think that might happen quite often...
Also, I have started looking through the Mythic rules book last night and have gotten through the first three classes. I really like the Archmage! Spells still kick butt, lol. My next favorite is Guardian...I'm very glad that's my possible class for the time being. A ton of fun possibilities in the powers on that one.
I hope to get through Hierophant, Marshall and Trickster tonight!

AinvarG |

Yeah, I'm having fun feeling out how Lyddy's going to develop. I'm enjoying this, too.
I haven't tried reading all of the tier abilities, but I've looked at all of the entry-level stuff enough to talk my tabletop players through the basics. Since none of them have the book, it's taking some time to get them comfortable.
It's all good.
Lyddy's likely to be a healing-focused hierophant. There is some definite goodness to that end in that path.

Ferret |

Man, I'm loving Belgood's characterization. The little pessimist is growing on me.
.
.
.
Do you think a Heal will help with that?
*blush*
One of these days, the li'l bugger's bound to be right
And of course, *this* is the one time where I pack a character without a silver weapon...

Ellena Lovain |

Yeah, it will be interesting to see if he ever becomes less pessimistic. Assuming I don't get filth fever and eat his face off first, that is.

DM Shisumo |

Yeah, it is now. Just updated the game thread, in fact. I do owe you all an apology for the silence, though - I just finished a 16-day stretch of work, some of which were around 20 hours long or longer, so I haven't been keeping up with my games as well as I would have liked. I've posted here and there, but somehow didn't get back to this one until today. We're good to go on, though, and I am sorry once again.

Ellena Lovain |

Lol, you posted just as a posted here. That's the way it always seems to go.
Sounds like a sucky couple of weeks. Hope things ease up a bit on you!

Ellena Lovain |

I am having a blast playing a Paladin, for the record!
DM, since we haven't reached a new level yet, would it be possible for Ellena to abandon dreams of eventual dragon disciple, and stay Paladin for the duration? What I'd like to do is switch out a trait, which I haven't used yet, that won't help if I stay pure Paladin. I don't care what trait I'd pick up, but Magical Lineage isn't doing anything for me now.

Ellena Lovain |

I don't know. Let me study for a bit, and I'll propose something.

Ellena Lovain |

How about Demon Smiter, DM? Once a day, when fighting demons, you get a +4 fiat bonus to an attack roll. That seems in line with what we are doing...

DM Shisumo |

Current XP wrapup, since it's come up in the thread (and because I sometimes forget to tell you when you earn XP for stuff, so it helps me to double-check too):
Making Anevia friendly (for a bit, anyway): 50 XP
Making Aravashnial friendly: 50 XP
Making Aravashnial helpful: 100 XP
Giant maggots: 100 XP
Giant roaches: 100 XP
Cave viper: 100 XP
Giant fly: 100 XP
Huecuva: 150 XP

Darkmantles: 200 XP
Millorn Fiendspeaker: 150 XP

Making friends with the mongrels: 200 XP
Total so far: 1685 XP each.
You will level at 2000 XP.

Ellena Lovain |

I have Ellena leveled except for HPs. Do we roll or take a certain number? Whatever the method, it will be plus 2 for Con and plus one for FC.
At 2nd level, +1 BAB, +1 Fort and Will.
Divine Grace adds +2 to all saves.
Lay on Hands 1d6 three times per day.
4 skill points: Sense Motive, Know. Religion, Know. Nobility, and Diplomacy.

Lydia "Lyddy" Bentsen |

For the record, I still love Belgood's character!
I rolled for Lyddy - rolled a five, plus CON Mod, for six shiny new hp.
Other changes:
BAB +1
+1 to Will save
New spells: Lead Blades (1st), Mending (0th), Spark (0th - favored class bonus)
+1 to Diplomacy, Disable Device, Knowledge (History), Knowledge (Planes), Sense Motive, and Spellcraft
