Congrats Nate! Here's to many more!

Ziomarra Callinovo |

This is a bit of an aside, but I just listened to Episode 83 of the podcast Lore, which is about spooky legends from history.
This particular episode features Romani curses, which of course made me think of Ziomarra. It was a pretty good listen!
I really like this podcast! It's far superior to its TV show spinoff that's on Netflix.

Joanna Whitehall |

Sorry for my absence. Work and my sister's birthday have eaten most of the past two days. This is the first chance I've had to post since Monday.

Briana Kaddren |
Hey folks, just a note that I'll be heading out of town later today for a work training trip and won't be back until late on Friday the 20th. I'll have my laptop but the amount of free time I'll have to use it after today (Sunday) is uncertain so please go ahead and bot Briana as needed; if I have enough time to check in and post I will but otherwise I'll catch up when I get home.
Oh and if I do end up with some free time my first posting priority will be to my GMed games so if you see posts from GM Ladile elsewhere but none here that'll be why. Hopefully that'll avoid any 'I SEE U POSTIN' Y U NO POST FOR <X> GAME!?!?' confusion :P

Joanna Whitehall |

It was surprising. I wouldn't have pegged Arsith as having that particular fetish, though.

Arsith D' Abariane |

Put the blame on me. I like to write that kind of thing, even if I usually write in French, of course. ^^
(and yes, this is an original creation, not Something I found on the net)
Poor Arsith is innocent, but unlike the other members of the team, she has already experienced love and the throes of passion.

Teldon Moore |

Weirdly, that was exactly the kind of thing Teldon assumed Arsith was into, so the only surprising thing for him was that you said it aloud. He just assumed that the gory subject matter of this little section had you longing for the bawdier images found throughout the rest of the monument...

Ziomarra Callinovo |

On an unrelated note, I'll be very glad to have these two negative levels removed. They are really impacting Zee's spellcasting effectiveness... she's only at CL3 right now.

Joanna Whitehall |

So, writing a post where your character winds up giving a bunch of slips of the tongue is harder than it looks, but potentially hilarious.

Joanna Whitehall |

1272. My Paladin can be charged with sexual harassment if he doesn’t watch exactly where he lays on hands.
Not that anyone has to worry with Jo. :D
I just hope her reaction was as funny as it was in my head.

Arsith D' Abariane |

"1024. Slings make poor thongs. And vice versa."
1029. I will not convert to Eilistraee just so I can watch naked drow chicks getting their groove on.
I enjoyed theses.
Obviously.

Joanna Whitehall |

That list is both a time sink and a source of wacky ideas to try.

Ziomarra Callinovo |

That list reminds me of a MUCH shorter one that my friends and I published in our college RPG club newsletter, back in 1989...
2. The Real Role-Player: "Don't start yet!! I need my two minutes to get properly into character."
3. The Loonie: "I sheathe my longsword and kiss the ogre on the lips."
4. The Munchkin: "Five arch-devils and two demigods? That's ALL?! I guess I'll only need to use six of my magic rings and my staff of the magi for this encounter."
5. The Coward: "Yikes! Three kobolds!! Retreat!! Retreat!"
6. The Troublemaker: "Just before the Mayor gives his speech to the town, I cast command and tell him to 'Vomit.'"
7. The Novice: "I just rolled a 2 on my to hit roll. Did I want high or low?"
8. The Tactician: "The archer will move silently into position behind the podium, carefully aiming at the sergeant. The mage shall remain behind the door in preparation of a sleep spell which will be centered at the table around which are the bulk of the guards. Meanwhile, the fighter and I shall ... "
9. The Quiet One: "I dunno .... shoot another arrow at the monster, I guess?"
10. The Punster: "How many clerics does it take to change a light bulb? One to cast cure light!"
11. The PC Infighter: "Since Ruth's being such a twit, I punch her wizard in the face right when she's casting a spell."
12. Joe I-Got-the-Rules-Down-Pat: "No, if you look in the DMG, page 81, paragraph 5, you'll find this spell won't affect mind flayers."
13. The Whiner: "Three points?! I take THREE POINTS OF DAMAGE!?! Frank, what the hell kind of grudge do you have against me?"
14. The Bully: "Are you sure I don't make my saving throw? Are you ABSOLUTELY sure? 'Cause it sure would suck if this bottle of Mountain Dew got dumped all over your books."
15. Mr. Greedy: "A majestic unicorn grazing peacefully in the meadow? I attack!! I WANT THOSE XPs!!"
16. The Cheater: "I roll a... 19! I hit!!" [Quickly grabs dice.]
17. The Chastiser: "And you DIDN'T SEE THAT TRAP COMING? Hahahahahaha!! Just how long did you say you've been playing this game?"
18. Captain Kamikaze: "I jump off our perch, taking careful aim to land dead center on the hobgoblin patrol. Just before I hit the ground, I set off the fire trap on all nine of my flasks of oil."
19. The Good Roller: "Oh, lookie here. An 03 on percentile dice. If that door was trapped, I just found something."
20. The Bad Roller: "Oh, damn it all!! ANOTHER critical fumble!!"
21. The Braggart: "The thought of you attacking me isn't even interesting. I could get off a sleep spell and slit your unconscious throat before you even get your longsword out of its sheath."
22. Nostalgia Guy: "Say, y'know, this is kind of like the time our party thief spent twenty minutes trying to lockpick an unlocked door. When was that, '79? Must've been...we were still using Blue Book rules..."
23. Goody Two-Shoes: "Wait a minute, Even if they are orcs, we just can't kill them when they're asleep and can't defend themselves!"
24. The Over-Optimistic Daydreamer: "After we get through this campaign, and have gained about nine or ten levels, I'm going to buy me an axe of the dwarvish lords..."
25. Short-Attention-Span Man: "Hmmm? What? Oh, are we attacking now?"
26. Thermonuclear Man: "Awright, I swing at the orc with my bastard sword. [Roll] That's a '3', +2 for strength, +3 for specialization, +2 for [blah blah blah]... so that's a '31'. [Sarcastic grin] Do I hit?"
27. The GM-Hater:
GM: "You see before you the huge wooden fortress known as the 'Steading of the Hill Giant Chief.' Do you approach the front gate?"
PC: "No. We light it on fire."
GM: "You do WHAT?"
PC: "You said it was wooden. We light it on fire and burn it down."
GM: "But you can't!"
PC: "Why not?"
GM: "Well, I paid six bucks for this module ... "
28. Mr. Not-Paying-Attention:
GM: "The gaping chasm stretches out before you. It is too far to jump across."
Player: "I jump the chasm."
29. The Crybaby: "What do you mean the dragon ate me? My character's DEAD?!? Really, really DEAD?!? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"
30. The Cowboy: "I walk right up to the King and challenge him to a duel to the death. Oh yeah, I make sure to call him a wimp."
...and some things just don't change!

Joanna Whitehall |

That was pretty funny.
I own the Shattered Star AP, and I read it before I started playing in this game, and I remember the riddle for this room, so that was why I was hoping it wasn't too metagamey. I'm not sure if I would have figured it out on my own, but Jo can be surprisingly perceptive at times. That said, once you know the answer, it's like getting hit in the head with a 9 lb. hammer.

Ziomarra Callinovo |

The core of that campaign was itself an adaptation of TPK Games' module The Reaping Stone, re-skinned for play in Korvosa. I substituted a bunch of generic city encounters from that module for ones copped from "Curse of the Crimson Throne, " "Second Darkness," a few PFS Season 4 scenarios, and the Raging Swan module Dark Waters Rising.
I also substituted a big chunk of the middle act of The Reaping Stone (an exploration of the Underdark, which didn't mesh with the story I wanted to tell) with a big dungeon crawl. I copped the dungeon crawl from sections of "Shattered Star." I also pulled in some Runelords lore for my game, mostly around Zutha, but also some Sorshen stuff... including another clone of the Runelord of Lust in a preservation chamber that was malfunctioning an a very familiar way... (In that game, our half-orc fighter/rogue ended up in the clone body. The player totally rolled with it!)

Teldon Moore |

@Shadlah-
Taking 20 takes 20 times as long as making a single check would take
Since an active perception check is only a move action (meaning you can do 2/round) it should only take 10 rounds or 1 minute to take 20.

Joanna Whitehall |

Something that I've noticed about Joanna and Teldon is that Joanna hates lying, while Teldon's first response is to try bluffing his way into someone's good graces. It makes for an interesting dynamic when meeting potentially hostile folks.

Teldon Moore |

It’s not so much about getting into anyone’s good graces (usually) as it is about gaining the tactical advantage. If this woman strolls in and starts a fight then she gets to pick the circumstances of combat; if he can diffuse that (usually through subterfuge) then he/we gets to make that determination. In this case, that might mean gaining a surprise round or being able to use a buff or two beforehand- those things can make a significant difference in the flow of combat...

Joanna Whitehall |

I figured, but I was trying to be pithy. :P
It is an interesting dynamic and one that I love seeing because it provide plenty of opportunity for character interaction and development.

Ziomarra Callinovo |

My posting might drop off a bit soon: I'm flying out to Seattle tomorrow to attend PaizoCon!
I'm a little disappointed with my schedule, in that I only got into one lottery game. But, oh, what a game: a session of Unspeakable Futures, GMed by James Jacobs himself!
The rest of the games I'm in are PFS and SFS sessions. I couldn't get my local gamer friends interested in playing Starfinder, so this will be my first time playing it. Organized play isn't my usual cup of tea, but it should be fun. I even made some custom pawns for my brand-new PFS and SFS characters.
Since I didn't get into any PF2e playtest games, I deliberately left some big gaps in my schedule so I could try out the new rules in some Delves.

GM Zed |

Greetings!!! Glad you made it safely this time around and I hope you have a fantastic time... I'm sure there's a bunch of folks there who you don't know but then, if you knew their Paizo Nickname, you'll find out you've been chatting to them for years!!!! Also... hope that game with James Jacobs is as exciting as it sounds!!!!

Glad you made it safely! I've never interacted with TOZ but I've seen tons of his posts and I got to play in a PFS PbP with Wei Ji not *too* long ago. If I ever make a trip to PaizoCon a lot of it will be so I can meet folks from the forums :)
Oh! And here is a thread dedicated to the con and the experiences folks have - also a good place for the folks who can't make it to read about what's happening and ask questions!

Joanna Whitehall |

Yay! Happy you made it this year without the insanity of last year's trip!
If I do go to a con, it'll probably be DragonCon, mainly cuz it's in Atlanta, and that's only a few hours trip for me.

I had the pleasure of playing my first PFS game ever at GM Hmm's table (4-19: Night March of Kalkimedes). It was tons of fun, and she was an amazing GM. Other players were great, and very welcoming to a PFS newbie.

Yay!
(Who was that masked woman?)

Joanna Whitehall |

Same here. Jo hates this place with a passion! She (and I) want Halli back to normal. I miss my mischievous little mutt.
And in other news, Joanna can't bluff for beans and that OOTS reference is about to get a lot more relevant. :)

GM Zed |

Oh yeah... this is it - the very last bit of Shattered Star Book 2 :) It's a pretty big dungeon and I have run it pretty much as written (rather than editing down... but hopefully it's been a fun ride? (for the players at least... I doubt any of the characters are having a particularly great time of it - what with dying, being kidnapped and facing of against various Gray Maidens)...

Briana Kaddren |
Right now, Carrion Crown and Mummy's Mask!
This game is on Book 2 and I (think?) the Legendary Planet game is also on Book 2.
Shackled City is uh...I think on Book 4 or 5 of 12? Harder to gauge the length there since it was one of the APs published in Dungeon (or was it Dragon?) magazine under the 3.5 ruleset.
Nate's Runelords game is technically on Book 2 but I don't think we've actually gotten into the meat of it yet as we're still finishing clearing out the last 'dungeon' of Book 1.

Rise of the Runelords is sort of in the epilogue to book 1, we haven’t started book 2 at all yet... I’m actually debating trying to rework chunks of book 2 because there are sections (including its beginning) that seem ill-suited for PbP. If any of you have run it and have an opinion to share please feel free to PM me about it!
