Amari Al'Fahd |

While the rest of the shadows follow up, Amari quickly extinguishes all but one of the burning candles and make sure that the last one is located as far from any of the group as possible.
Then he steps into the shadow and readies an arrow.
A sharp one this time ...

![]() |

This is going to be tight quarters and then some it appears and assuming 1 way in/out if I am interpreting the map correctly.

Shadows of Sand GM |

At least one of your will probably be seen as soon as the door is opened. I would plan for that thought, if I were you.

Amari Al'Fahd |

Seeing the cramped space, Amari quickly signs:
<Lo: trip him once he opens the door.
Agaban, we two will pull him in.
Hadha: close the door as soon as Agaban pulled him through.>
A couple of prepared actions should to the trick...
Hopefully.

![]() |

<I still have a hold person spell ready...along with my ability to direct water...can use that to give him a good shove in the back...or maybe blind him...while I trust your strength Amari...mine not quite so much...but if everyone believes that is the best way...will follow through.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Stealth synergies to hide: 6d20 ⇒ (10, 5, 9, 2, 13, 17) = 56
Perc: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 7 - 4 = 16
You hear footsteps moving through the hallway. The door to the room you are in opens and a man with blonde hair enters. He looks surprised to see all of you hiding in his quarters and his mouth falls slightly open in shock.
Surprise round actions, GO! Standard or a move but not both!

Amari Al'Fahd |

(Assuming Amari does not know the man ...)
True to the plan, Amari tries to pull the man into the room.
Reposition, Provokes*: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
*only if he has a weapon drawn or has Unarmed Combatant (otherwise unarmed strikes do not allow AoOs).
@Icon: The enemy's icon looks hilarious and I long to punch him pretty badly xD

Shadows of Sand GM |

Amari pulls the man into the room with blistering speed.
Yeah that's about what I was going for. Party, GO!

Shadows of Sand GM |

Will save: 1d20 ⇒ 17
The blonde man shakes off Hadha's spell but the Shadow closes the door behind him.

Zatinya |
"We got him now!" encourages Zaza to the party. Inspire courage.
She also touches Lo's weapon to give Lo the opportunity to blind the enemy.
Dazzling blade.
The wielder of a dazzling blade can discharge the spell into a blinding burst of silvery light as a free action. The wielder selects an adjacent opponent as the focal point of this burst of light—that creature must make a Will save to avoid being blinded for 1 round (with a successful save, the creature is instead dazzled for 1 round).

Lo'Laan Jin |

Trip: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 1 = 13
Lo'Laan attempts to blind and then trip their target.
Bite: 1d20 + 9 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 9 - 1 + 1 = 16 Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 2 + 1 = 8
Trip: 1d20 + 9 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 9 - 1 + 1 = 19

![]() |

With Amari pulling the man into the room before Agaban can even attempt to get his own grip, he instead launches into a quick chant while pointing at the enemy casting Hold Person.
DC is 17 to negate.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Will saves: 2d20 ⇒ (3, 14) = 17
Inits: Ag, Am, Ha, Lo, Za, En: 6d20 ⇒ (13, 12, 16, 2, 18, 5) = 66
The blonde man is blinded but shakes off Agaban's spell. Lo'laan fails to trip him but Serenity lands a nasty bite and trips the man. The Shadows react quickly to the situation to capitalize on their advantage against the prone, blinded man.
Agaban, Amari, Hadha, and Zaza, GO! If this guy gets a turn to shout, things will get more complicated.

Amari Al'Fahd |

Knowing full well that his preferred weapon is not useful in such a crowded room, Amari kicks down at the man's head with his foot.
In the last second, he decides to not go for the neck but for the side of the forehead.
If possible, he would like to knock the man out and interrogate him, rather than killing him outright. Too many things did not sum up and too many questions would remain unanswered if the shadows were to kill him outright...
Risky Unarmed Strike, Flanking, vs Prone, IC, blinded: 1d20 + 6 - 1 + 2 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 6 - 1 + 2 + 4 + 1 + 2 = 24
Nonlethal, IC, Risky: 1d6 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 1 + 2 = 11

Hadha Al-Yatim |

Hadha fears for his remaining reserve of mental strength and prefers to not use it all before they escape. So he moves to grab a pillow from the bed, then dives and tries to wrap the pillow around the guy's head to muffle any sound he might make!

![]() |

Seeing the man still writhing on the floor and knowing his spell didn't take hold. Agaban moves up next to Amari and attempts to bring his mace down on the mans head hoping to knock him out before he can gather his wits.
BAB, Dex, Prone, IC, blinded: 1d20 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 3 + 4 + 2 = 23
Damage (nonlethal): 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 = 8
Used Amari's modifiers for prone/blinded...also not sure I would be in a position to flank or not.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Agaban and Amari strike solid blows on the prone Taldan but Hadha fails to cover his mouth with a pillow. He seems to completely ignore Zaza's spell. Then the man screams out "To me! Attackers!"
DC 16 Cc: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Will saves Ag, Am, Lo: 3d20 ⇒ (10, 2, 2) = 14
Rounds, Am, Lo: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5
Man the dice do not like Lo right now. Sorry, buddy.
The prone man concentrates hard then clashing colors explode from his hand toward Agaban, Amari, and Lo'laan! Amari and Lo'laan stand shocked while Agaban barely shakes off the attack.
Amari stunned for 2 rounds. Lo for 5... Everyone else GO!
You do not yet hear footsteps responding to the cry but surely it won't be long.

![]() |

Able to squint past the blinding colors and hearing the man cry out.
Agaban redoubles his blows with the mace trying to quiet the cries before anyone hears.
Attack, BAB, Dex, Prone, Blinded: 1d20 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 3 + 4 + 2 = 24
Damage (nonlethal), Str: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Amari Al'Fahd |

Half blinded by the spell of the foe, Zazas counter-magic is able to banish the worst of it and with a low, threatening growl, Amari dives into a grapple, seeking to bind the man's hands and prevent him from casting any other nasty spells in this confined space.
Grapple Vs Prone, flanking, IC: 1d20 + 8 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 4 + 2 + 1 = 17
Damn, yeah the lucky roll streak must have ended at some point....
I think he is blinded no more, right?

Shadows of Sand GM |

Yes Serenity should act!
Amari manages to grapple the prone spellcaster!
Lol. No cmd on this guy.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Oh yes! He is both grappled and has his mouth covered!

![]() |

With Hadha getting the pillow over his face to muffle his cries. Agaban steps over the group and attempts to lock the door just in case anyone does come to investigate the noise the group should have a little time to prepare.
Otherwise going to just look at Amari/Hadha smothering the guy and wait...if he breaks either of their holds going to start smashing in his head again...but not sure there is room for any blows to actually hit the enemy and not his companions.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Agaban locks the door.
Serenity should still act!

Lo'Laan Jin |

Bite: 1d20 + 9 + 4 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 4 + 1 - 1 = 32
Claw: 1d20 + 9 + 4 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 9 + 4 + 1 - 1 = 18
Claw: 1d20 + 9 + 4 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 4 + 1 - 1 = 19
Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 7
Damage: 1d2 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 6
Damage: 1d2 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 6
Serenity mauls the downed opponent while her master stands in a stupor.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Serenity lashes out, avenging her master. The blonde man goes lip and begins bleeding out. You hear feet rushing toward the door. A voice calls out "Elder, is all well!?"

![]() |

Hearing someone at the door, Agaban crosses over and reaches down to try to stabilize the wounded man while leaving his companions to deal with the monks outside.
Heal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Will use bloodblock or my CLW potion if he determines that it is needed to keep their prisoner alive...not wanting to cast a spell that could be heard through the door so going old school on him.
After doing what he can Agaban will move back into the corner and try to be ready if they have to fight again.

Amari Al'Fahd |

It is ... as if we are professionals, carefully selected for a job like this.
Awesome roll, Zaza :-)
A surprised expression on the black face, Amari goggles at Zaza, before shaking his head and gives a thumbs-up, then turning to help Agaban in his attempt to keep the foe alive for questioning.
Aid another: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Shadows of Sand GM |

Zaza's voice sounds incredibly convincing after hearing snippets of the Taldan's speech. The voice at the door replies "Yes, Elder! Thank you, Elder!" Meanwhile, Agaban and Amari ensure the new elder does not die of his wounds.

Amari Al'Fahd |

<It cannot be long before the downed guards are found.
If it comes to a confrontation, we threaten to kill this man if they try to attack us.
We should try to get him talking.
Otherwise ... we should probably take a look at the prayer room...>

Zatinya |
Zaza casts Detect Magic and begins searching the Elder. <We need to find the source of this man's control over the monastery. And if we can't figure that out, we kill him and hope it breaks the spell.>
If she finds anything, she begins to study it.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Use Magic Device (against the leader): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Otherwise, she agrees to Amari's plan to go to the prayer room.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Zaza indeed detects magic on the unconscious man. A gold amulet worn around his neck under his clothes contains powerful magic, so powerful she becomes dizzy using her spell. But she cannot decipher how it works or what it does. A strange script, unfamiliar to all of you, is inscribed in tiny writing on the small clasp.
