Looking at the others she says, "Looks like this room has been picked over pretty well already. Should we go ahead and give it a once over, or move on to the next room?"

This dimly lit chamber – probably once the personal chamber of an important fellow – now lies empty and abandoned. Dust along with rotten and shattered furniture cover the floor. Perhaps something may remain here.

Derika is facinated by the dusty ceiling and trips over a broken piece of furniture, nearly falling into Telsyn in the process. As her cheeks turn dark blue she stammers, "I....I'm sorry. I guess I got distracted."

She looks at him and then back at the ground, "Oohh...okay....let's continue on to the next room then shall we?" What is going on with me...I know I don't always pay attention, but I don't usually go around tripping into people either.

Orym casts a spell on his weapon, the makeshift axe starting to glow like a torch. "...I don't know why I didn't think o' this before," he mutters as he realizes not everyone can see in the dim light.
Orym casts Light on his greataxe.
As Derika turns to go the next room, a snake slithers out of the doorway between her and Orym. It bares its fangs and hisses.

Silent and introspective after her vision, the hiss of the snake brings Vishanti back to the present.
Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Giving someone a chance to either try and identify the snake or deal with it through non-violent means. If you're ready to smash and slash and burn, just let me know and I'll roll initiative.

Telsyn will try to use his light spell to drive the snake away. He'll move the light, and hope it keeps the snake moving out.
If that doesn't work, the snake is well-lit.
Vishanti studies the snake and realizes it is a venomous sort and probably what killed those dire rats in the other room. Its mannerisms indicate it is trying to protect something.

"The serpent is poisonous...it is probably what killed the rats. It seems to be.. defending or protecting something, perhaps a nest ." Vishanti says as she studies the snake.

Derika makes shooing motions with her hands at the snake, "Just go back to your babies mama....we ain't interested in them." She backs away slowly.
Attempt to Handle Animal untrained....yeah, I see this going real well.: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
The snake seems to get the gist of what Derika says and slithers back into the room.

Stepping into the room, Derika becomes distracted by something and trips over some old worn boots that were left in the middle of the room. Bouncing off a piece of broken furniture, she turns around and falls flat on her butt. Shaking her head she just sits there and starts laughing.

She nods as well, "Yup...that sounds like a good idea. I should make sure all the rooms have a floor." She slides a look towards Jerrica as she feels an actual smile coming to her face.

Jerrica puts the palm of her hand against her forehead and laughs. "In the end, I think you would have gotten kicked out of the military without my help."

She nods a bit contemplatively, "Yeah...it was never a choice. Just sorta forced on me so the priests at the Temple wouldn't have to deal with me. They took me to the Academy in Ganz when I was seven, and that's where I'd been until I came here. I didn't take too kindly to orders there either....but not everyone there was bad. There are just those that think because they have power, they should be able to take whatever they want from other people, no matter if it's right or not. It's almost always over position, power, or money and very rarely ever legitimate."

She laughs outright at Telsyn's statement, "What's a police?" She manages to ask before falling into another horrible fit of the giggles.
The last room in this hallway is another personal chamber.
The Perception DC to find anything is 25. So, maybe come back later and search?
In the remaining hallway, you see a smashed door left on the floor in front of some stairs and the door next to it is a fourth bedroom. There are red circular symbols painted on the walls of the stairway.
