Cronin |

Cronin, seeing that the guardian constructs are being less aggressive, realizes that Commander Caine is in more need of his attention.
Dodging the rat swarm, Cronin moves into range (G12) and calls out another word.
Healing word for surge + Healing Word (1d6 4=7)

Rev DM |

Commander, please recover 15hp due to Cronin's efforts. You have I think used too many healing surges. By my calculations, you've only used 2 so far, so with this one, you still have 6 left. You are in better shape than you thought.
Caine shakes himself, feels his wounds healing and tramps decisively towards the final ratswarm. As he does so, he calls out to Fairwind,
"How's about walloping them so I don't have to get bitten some more. I hate rats."
Caine moves to G11.

Sorry didn't expect to be answering this late
Leo applies his laying on of hands on Brujo so he recovers as if he had spent a healing surge. And unless Brujo wants to continue this encounter Leo will try and persuade him to follow Perigia to find out why the rest of the group hasn't appeared.
"No offence Brujo, I seriously can't tell what you're planning to do next, if you don't mind lets pull back and see whats holding up the others okay?" Leo asks Brujo

Rev DM |

The guardians return to positions guarding the pillar. Both the Defenders and the Cobra make no move to attack you. The Arbalaster is focussed on Leo and has a bolt at the ready.

The final ratswarm advances on Fairwind. The first wave of fleabitten rodents fail to hit the deft half-elf, but their fellows fare better. Rats swarm up her legs and inflict numerous small yet agonising bites.
Ratswarm 2's attack missed, but the aura attack hit: 1d20+6=21; 1d6+3=9. 9hp damage to Fairwind and 3 ongoing.

Cronin |

Did Caine succeed on his saving throw?
Cronin, realizing the remaining rats are still very much a threat, changes tactics. As his medallion flares, he shouts "Begone!"
Rats move at speed + 1 away from Cronin, drawing opp attack from Fairwind (before the aura attack). If they're really fast, they might trigger a guardian!

Brujo slaps Leo's the hand away, "Save your energy. I'm fine for now". Brujo continues to hold himeself as he rises.
"As for what to do now...I see four of them and two of us. Clearly they're outnumbered". A grin slowly crosses the uncovered part of his face.
Take cover behind J3.

Pah. Blasted clerics and their blasted Cause Fear spells. Right. Take back your mink, take back your pearls, take back your hit points Fairwind and, in exchange all I want from you is a nice OA on the rats followed by your own attack on the wee fluffers.
Cronin, to answer your other question, yes, Caine saved v ongoing. I just forgot to post it.
Brujo
Your scar is fading again. It's less noticeable, and is glowing rather than flaring. A decent perception roll would still spot it. In general it will flare for a couple of turns after whatever activiated it has gone - in this case the poison from the Cobra triggered it and it started to die down after you saved. (Mechanically I'm rolling 1d4 rounds for it to stay flaming after the causing effect has been saved against).
How you handle matters with Leo is up to you. You can't really refuse a healing surge in any game way that I can think of other than divine intervention from Kelemvor. I'm asking Leo to make another perception roll at a lower DC as he's no longer directly under attack. Fair?
Leo
Make another perception check before you unleash that Lay on Hands on Brujo. DC15 this time as you're not actually under attack.

Fairwind's blades flash out as the ratswarm passes her, slicing, dicing and julienning rats. As the remaining creatures retreat towards the Guardians, Fairwind follows them. Moves to B13.
OA v ratswarm 2: (1d20 7=27, 1d8 3=6) Crit, so 11 damage halved, equals 5.
Twin Strike on ratswarm 2: (1d20 7=19, 1d8 3=11, 1d20 7=15, 1d6 3=5). And a further 16 halved = 8hp to rats.
Combat now inconveniently straddles two maps. The rats arrived at S19 on the Guardian map, putting them within range of Perigia if she moves a couple of squares.

The rodent carpet slows to a squeaky crawl as Perigia's blast of cold hits it. The numbers are significantly reduced.
Ratswarm 2 is bloodied.

Here. Will be posting at around this time next couple of days. Very busy week.

"Die! Evil Rats! Die!"

Leo the half elven Paladin |

As he moves past Leo, Brujo turns slightly, "As you can see I'm alright. There is no reason for you to waste your energy on me".
With that he continues forward
Still moving to J3, and taking cover.
"Is there something I should know or are you averse to taking the long way round?" Leo asks.

Snaggletooth and Kneebiter start to work their way cautiously around the walls. Learning from experience, they make no attempt to climb over them. From their chatter, you realise that they are heading for the body of the dead creeper.
As the ratswarm scrambles slowly away from Cronin, the guardians turn to register the newcomers. They are no longer interested in Leo and Brujo.

"Brujo leave them alone, I think there's trouble over there," Leo tells Brujo heading back the way he came having noticed the guardians have seen something over in that direction running straight to R1 and upon seeing Perigia heads towards her to R4 (double move if only the first was a run does that still count as combat advantage for any attacks suffered this round?).

Rev DM |

... [snip] does that still count as combat advantage for any attacks suffered this round?).
If you were in the open, it would do, but I'm assuming you are running behind the walls which grant you enough cover. You're safe.
The rats seeth towards Snaggletooth who lets out a yelp of horror as they engulf him, before shoveling Kneebiter out of the way and taking refuge in the rubble.
Snaggletooth is bloodied and suffering ongoing damage. He moves to N17, Kneebiter to M17. And yes, that is entirely my fault for putting them in the wrong place.
Ratswarm 2 saved against slowness. Defender 1 is still slowed.
The Cobra and Defender 1 remain in place beside the pillar. Defender 2, alert to Leo's rapid movement moves to Q11. The Arbalaster strides purposefully towards the ratswarm and unleashes a crossbow bolt.
Arbalaster v ratswarm 2 (half damage on hit): (1d20 11=14, 1d8 4=6). 3hp to ratswarm.

Rev DM |

Not a problem, it's easy to do (witness your GM making errors rather frequently - in this case quoting Kneebiter as moving further than he could, which doesn't matter much, but I've done worse before and will again. It's amended on the map.
Anyway ... MAP - updated midterm after Leo, rat, cobra, defenders 1 and 2 and the arbalaster have moved.

Perigia's missile sizzles into the rats. Cronin's movement causes the Arbalaster to turn briefly towards the shifter, but he hunches down behind Leo and the seething rat carpet reclaims the construct's attention.

Rev DM |

It does, but only under certain circumstances which don't in fact apply... I have amended the previous post. I misread the position myself.
I tells ya, running these constructs is driving me mildly nuts. So many of their actions are dependent on where they are and what is under attack. Plus, as per module, they are borked and do not operate normally. None of you read that bit.

Leo heads straight past Perigia.
"Glad to see you lot are fine," he whispers to her as he passes before heading straight for the latest foe Brujo is picking a fight with.
"In Kelemvor's name I challenge you!" Leo tells the construct.

Rev DM |

The rat carpet scuttles over Caine and Fairwind, snarling and nipping.
Aura affect on Caine and Fairwind: (1d20 6=23, 1d20 6=20). Hitting both of you. Damage from aura attack ( 3 ongoing): (1d6 3=6). 9hp each +3 ongoing, save ends.
In desperation, with few places left to go, the rats engulf Caine's feet, but are simply looking for either a way out or an easier target. Sensing that they may be the easier target, the kobolds skitter further out of range. Fairwind and Caine grin at each other and take opportunistic attacks as the swarm passes them.
OAs on ratswarm from both Fairwind and Caine.
The Cobra stays alert, eyes fixed on Brujo, but remains in its place, guarding the pillar. Defender 1 is likewise still and has finally made its save v slowness.
Defender 2 dutifully turns its attention to Leo. The iron jaws open and clamp hard around the paladin's arm.
Defender 2 attacks Leo: (1d20 8=24, 1d8 3=9). 9hp to Leo.
Alerted by the kobold scrabbling, the Arbalaster moves north, hunting for a target.
