Oster Catus
Could Oster have gotten some healing before we moved on?
Devlin Lufftin
GM: Does this Bat Swarm require any save vs. Distraction since I was wounded by it?
"Ow, Ow, Ow! They're biting!" Die you winged rats and quit eating me. Devlin thrusts forth a hand and speaks. "Fire!"
DC 12 Concentration Check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Burning Hands: 3d4 ⇒ (1, 1, 3) = 5 5*1.5=7 Damage total Area of Effect spell vs. Swarm (DC 17 Reflex Save for half damage and to negate the being Dazzled for 1 round)
Devlin Lufftin
Blood slowly runs down Devlin's arm and drips onto the floor. He holds his head with his other hand as if lightheaded.
Memnosyne
Memnosyne calls upon the blessings of Pharasma, once before the bats
channel positive: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4
and once after.
channel positive: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5
She also casts detect magic in these last two rooms to make sure they aren't missing anything useful/important covered by guano or webs.
holler out if anyone is still hurting pretty bad... those were a lot of 2's
Devlin Lufftin
"Thanks for that Memnosyne." Devlin looks himself over and sees that all his wound have closed over and appears pleased. His jovial grin reappears on his face. "Let's hope that is the last of that we have to deal with."
Oster Catus
"Thanks Mem, I'm feeling a lot better, though still stinging a little!"
Oster is back up to 14 out of 18 HP
He looks around for a stick to sift through the guano for silver.
Devlin Lufftin
Devlin reaches in with Mage Hand and puts the shiny object out. He also takes time to clean it with Prestidigitation. All while humming a catchy little tune.
Daniel Penfold 351
The shiny object is a slightly tarnished silver bracelet (not magical I'm afraid)
Heading down the stairs, they end at the beginning of a chamber which is dark. You light some torches (I'm assuming you have them or similar). This wide catacomb chamber has rows of burial niches cut into the stone walls. These have all been stripped of any former occupants. Half a dozen ten foot high mounds of dirt and debris dominate the floor of the chamber, reaching nearly to the ceiling fifteen feet above.
Oster Catus
Oster raises a hand to get the group to stop, and then begins to carefully move forward, keeping a very close eye on his surroundings.
Perception to find traps: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Disable Device on any trap he finds: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 11 + 2 = 31
Oster Catus
Oster lashes at the ant who first emerged, hoping to impale it on his rapier.
Mwk rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Memnosyne
"More bugs. Ugh." She looks around to see if there's anything to plug the hole, lashing out with a dagger in the meantime.
dagger: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
I mean I guess we can play whack-a-mole, but it'd probably work better to have some way to plug the hole they're coming out of
Devlin Lufftin
"This place is just simply awful. Why would anyone choose to make their base here?" Devlin points his hand at the nearest ant and lets a blast of icy particles fly.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Ray of Frost (cold damage): 1d3 ⇒ 2
Xango, Son of Lallo
"Well, it seems no one comes here, and some dangerous wildlife will discourage others to check. Actually not that stupid an idea. If you know which parts to avoid!"
Xango replies with a smile.
If the bugs are still alive he will swing his hammer again.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 262d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
Daniel Penfold 351
There are now 5 ants that have come out of the ant heaps.
Oster and Memnosyne you strike the ant in front of each of you but it is still there.
Devlin- the ant manages to dodge the ray.
Xango you smash the ant severely, however it is still there but only just.
Another ant emerges at this point and moves to attack Xango.
Ant on Oster: Bite (1d20 = 15 + 3) = 18, Damage (1d6 = 5+2) = 7
It then tries to grab you (1d20 = 8 + 7) = 15 but fails to do so.
Ant on Memnosyne: Bite (1d20 = 17 +3) = 20 Damage (1d6 = 2 + 2) =4
It then tries to grab you (1d20 = 6 +7) = 13 and does so. Memnosyne is grapped in the ants mouth.
It then tries to sting (1d20 = 19 +3) = 22. Damage (1d4 = 4 +2) =6 and a Fort save please
Ant on Devlin. Bite (1d20 = 20 (crit threat) - does not confirm) Damage (1d6 =3 + 2) =5
It then tries to grapple you ( 1d20 = 8+10) = 18. You are grabbed.
Sting (1d20 = 8 + 3) = 11 Damagae (1d4 = 3+2 =5)
Fort save please
First ant on Xango Bite (1d20 = 2 +3) = 5 which misses.
Second ant on Xango Bite (1d20 = 4 +3) = 7 which is also a miss.
So at the end of the ants turn both Memnosyne and Devlin are grabbed in the jaws of ants.
Devlin back to you.
Devlin Lufftin
Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
"Dammit! Let me go!" Devlin grabs the dagger from his belt and stabs at the ant.
Single Melee Attack: Alchemical Silver Dagger: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Damage: Piercing/Slashing: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Oster Catus
"Argh! Take that, you damned bug!"
Oster moves and stabs again.
5ft step to try and flank the ant, let me know if he can't manage that
mwk rapier: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 = 27
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Extra Sneak attack damage if flank possible: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11
Confirm critical?: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 2 = 12
Memnosyne
Memnosyne calls upon her goddess to aid them in their time of need.
since 3 of us are in the single digits, I'm gonna go ahead and channel. It will affect all of us and 2 of the ants, the uninjured ones, so not the one grappling me or Devlin, and not the one that Xango smacked
2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4
ugh, it isn't much, but hopefully it will keep us alive. Apparently the dice gods don't like when I channel
Oster Catus
Cheers Mem! It all helps. 7->11 hp
Daniel Penfold 351
Ant on Memnosyne
Sting (1d20 = 9 + 3) = 12 which is a miss.
Ant on Devlin
Sting (1d20 = 18 +3) = 21 damage (1d4 = 3 +2) = 5 and a Fort save
First Ant on Xango
Bite (1d20 = 8 + 3) = 11 which is a miss.
Second Ant on Xango
Bite (1d20 = 19 +3) = 22 Damage (1d6 = 6 +2) = 8
It then tries to grapple
(1d20 = 15 +3) = 18. It grabs you
Sting (1d20 = 12 +3) = 15 which is a miss.
So at the end of the ants' second turn everyone except Oster is grappled.
Xango it is your turn.
Devlin Lufftin
Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
"I said stop it! Damn ants." With a thought A rain of tiny meteors falls from the sky onto the ant holding him.
Minute Meteors: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 (DC 15 Reflex Save to negate the damage)
Oster Catus
Oster steps up to the ant grappling Devlin and strikes at it while it is distracted.
All characters in a grapple have the Grappled condition, which among other things reduces their effective Dexterity by -4, which is a -2 to their AC.
mwk rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Memnosyne
Xango, if you put your HP in your status line, I can more effectively monitor your health
Damn! If only I could get free! Memnosyne stabs her dagger again and again at the ant holding her, hoping it will let her loose.
dagger: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 1d4 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 - 1 = 5
I feel like we're in a 50's monster movie now, giant ants everywhere!
Oster Catus
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Any radioactive sludge in these tunnels? ;)
Daniel Penfold 351
GM note - No, no radioactive sludge just creatures that use vermin as mounts :-p
Memno you hit the ant holding you but it is still there.
The Ant on Devlin
Sting (1d20 = 4 +3) = 7 fails to sting him.
Ant on Memnosyne
Sting (1d20 = 12 +3) = 15 Damage (1d4 = 2 +2) = 4 and another Fort save
The final ant attacks Xango
Bite (1d20 = 19 +3) = 22 Damage (1d6 = 3 +2) = 5
It then tries to grapple (1d20 = 13 +3) = 16 but fails to do so.
Xango it is back to you.
Devlin Lufftin
"Let me go now!" Devlin holds his hand towards the Ant's head.
Concentration Check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 (DC=10+Ant's CMB+0)
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Ray of Frost (Cold Damage): 1d3 ⇒ 3
Oster Catus
If the ant on Devlin is still alive, Oster will attack that. Otherwise, he'll sidle up to the ant threatening Memnosyne.
Either way, he stabs.
mwk rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Devlin Lufftin
"Okay, can I just say that is the worst experience yet in this place. Hopefully things will improve or we will find a spot we can secure so that we might rest and recover." Devlin brushes himself off and begins to bind his wounds as best he can.
GM: What room number are we in currently and what rooms have already explored on this level?
Daniel Penfold 351
You are in room B30- that's the only room you've explored onn this level.
There are tracks of 3 toes creatures which you think are probably mites heading slightly southwest (B31). You can hear the sound of chiselling from this direction.
To the south (b32) you can hear the occasional skittering sound.
Oster Catus
"That was pretty harsh. We might need to rest up soon at this rate. How about we check out that chiselling first?"
Memnosyne
Memnosyne gets up off the ground, much more slowly than she would prefer. "That hurt," she says, brushing off bits of exoskeleton from the ants. "I need a moment before we go anywhere else." She murmurs a prayer to Pharasma and everyone feels a wash of energy spill over them.
channel: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
channel: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
"That took a lot more out of me than I would like. I can continue, but I'm not in top shape."
everyone healed 11 HP. We need to get a wand of CLW asap
@GM: is it possible to use a heal check to tend to effects of the ant poison?
