Devlin looks on in amazement as his wounds knit themselves back together following Memnosyne's prayer. "Thanks for that. Let's see what that noise is and remember if it looks beyond our ability to handle at the moment we can always fall back and deal with it later after we have rested and gotten whatever care we need."
@ Memnosyne - yeah you can make a heal check to deal with the effects of the poison.
This irregularly-shaped room seems to have been chiselled recently out of the surrounding rock. There are 6 mites here who appear to be chiselling into the rock. They see you and spit and shriek at you but they do not attack immediately. 2 of them watch you while the other four return to work.
Given that this is the outer wall that the mites are chiselling into, effectively if they succeed they will flood this level. Fortunately they do not seem to have got very far as yet.

Interesting. With a shrug that seems to suggest it's worth a try, Memnosyne says, "Excuse me. Do you speak Taldane?" She looks back at the others and whispers, "Well, they already know we're here. We might as well try to communicate."
The heal check is enough to cure the poison effects.
Oster you know that mites have the ability to cast the spell doom 1/day and speak Undercommon.
They look uncomprehendingly at Memnosyne as she speaks to them, they gibber back at her but make no threatening moves.
Devlin whispers "Okay, now this is unexpected. Do you think we might be able to just walk past?"
Looking at the wall Xango shakes his head."I do not think that is a good idea. I even think it is a VERY stupid idea to let them flood us!" Holding his earthbreaker ready he adds.
"Better to take them out!"
"I agree, I'd rather they not succeed. But the question is WHY do it in the first place? Is someone controlling them, or bribing them? Or are they just destructive little blue freaks?"
So are you going into combat?
Studying the left most mite for a moment Xango nods.
"I do not know, but I know a very simple solution!"
"Well we can't let them just tear the place down around us. Gods only know what might happen if they do that." Devlin gives a resigned nod to Xango.

"They speak undercommon. And can put magical doom on people. Nothing we can't handle but just to bear that in mind. Anyone speak it?"
"Not a lick of it. If you had perhaps said something a bit more common then maybe."

Oster casually steps up to the middle mite - and suddenly stabs at it.
Oster with your blow and the sneak attack you manage to decapitate the first mite before it has even had a chance to notice you are attacking.
Devlin, over to you.
Charging the left mite Xango brings his earthbreaker down.
Devlin steps closes to as many of the mites as possible and with a single word and outstretched hand roasts as many as possible in a cone of fire.
Memnosyne marvels at the utility of Devlin's fire spell. She slashes at any mite left standing with a dagger.
Devlin manages to catch three of the mites in the spell and they roast alive.
Xango pulverises another into a bloody mess.
Finally Memnosyne cuts the remaining mite's throat killing it.

Stepping around the slain mites, Oster flicks the blood off his rapier.
"Let's carry on then. I'd like to see where the other end of this tunnel leads."

The ceiling of this roughly octagonal room is shrouded by thick tangled sheets of webbing.
As you enter a giant spider starts to descend from the ceiling.

Oster charges, and leaps at the spider.
He drives his rapier at the arachnid, trying to end the fight swiftly.
Xango swings his blade, too.
Oster you strike the spider a mighty blow.
Xango I'm afraid you miss.
Devlin your action
Staying out of the spider's range, Memnosyne throws a dagger at the spider.
"Not another one." Devlin moans. Burn! Devlin looks to towards the heavens as a rain of tiny meteors rain down on the spider.
The dagger and the spell both hit true,the spider is still there though.
The Spider attacks Oster

Oster back to you.
Xango now wields thunder and fang at the spider.
Oster starts circling the spider, aiming to set up a flanking position with Xango should the fight carry on. For now he stabs.
Xango you strike a mighty blow.
Oster you miss.
Devlin back to you.
Devlin extends a hand and points at the spider. A ray of icy particles sprays forth.
As the ice shards hit the beast it slumps to the ground dead.
There is nothing else of interest in the room.
Where next?
"Nice work," she says retrieving her thrown dagger.
Oster kicks the spider to make sure it's not faking it.
Satisfied, Oster nods.
"Those stairs are worth a look."
Looking at Devlin and Memnosyne Xango shrugs.
"How many spells do you still have?"
Pillars run down the centre of this hall to an alcove at chest height at either end. The eastern alcove holds a silver statuette, while the western one holds an upside down ogre's skull. On top of the skull is a strange looking mite.
Oster sneaks up next to the mite, giving the others time to speak to it if they wish.
You manage to get pretty close Oster, you hear it muttering to itself in Undercommon but then you hear one word in Varisian, the word is "Clickylegs"
Oster decides to break his silence.
"Who or what is clickylegs? And who are you?"
The mite shrieks a little, surprised to see you. He rapidly continues in Undercommon. He finished though by saying in Varisian, "Bring Clikylegs back and I reward you.2
He points straight down as he says this, you assume he means that Clickylegs is somewhere below.
Xango smiles and walks closer, trying to keep the eyes on himself.
A murderous glint is in his eyes and his earthbreaker is ready for action.
Oster replies:
"Clicklegs below? What is Clickylegs?"
Must remember to get a wand of comprehend languages! "If I had to guess, I'd say clickylegs is some sort of insect."
"One does not run out of magic my good sir. Just, for some unknown reason, low on whatever it takes to create the more fanciful variety."

King Zuugga repeats what he said in Undercommon, but realising you don't understand he draws a stylised picture of a bug (a bit like a large beetle) he then mimes going downstairs followed by pointing to him. He then draws another picture of a diamond and points to you.
Memnosyne shrugs. "We're kind of exploring this place anyways. No problem with turning a profit. But I suggest we keep our eyes on this fella, and his bug."
"It looks like diamond - or diamonds - for a bug. And he said nothing about it being alive, so if it's a pain to capture we just slice it. I'll tell him we'll do it, then let's move on, say to that passage to the south-east from the first room."
"We can do that."
