Karine Iwrin |
I'm fine with pushing on. I haven't played any of the quests yet, but my internet issues are enough of a hassle that I don't want to hold things up.
GM Woran |
I'm skipping us ahead. I just hope the forum stays stable now
The Pegasus makes a devastating strafing run, Karine and Gornoc hitting at the same time, crippeling the bone ship.
Zye carefully brings the Pegasus about. The Endless Threnody drifts just outside the forward viewport.
The enormous Corpse Fleet starship bristles with bone spurs, and a baleful red lens at its fore resembles a swollen and bloody eye. Crackles of dark energy leap across the bone spurs, discharging from the ruined ship’s necromantic power source.
With a burst of static and a flash, a blue-hued hologram of Venture-Captain Arvin appears at the Loreseeker’s communications station. “Excellent work. The Endless Threnody is incapacitated, but not pulverized. I need you to board that vessel, access the main computers at the bridge, and recover the coordinates of the missing Starfinder vessel’s crash site.
“That energy signature looks dangerous, and those discharges can damage your hull. Dock at the cargo bay at the rear of the ship and make your way forward to the bridge. Wear space suits if your armor can’t protect you from vacuum—there are a few suits in a storage locker aboard your ship. Eoxian ships do not have life support and are often exposed to space. Any questions?”
Gornoc |
Time to board! Gornoc leaps up and grabs his gear. Making sure his armor is air tight as to not suffocate in space.
Let's do this. He stands by the loading door waiting for Zye to move the Pegasus into position.
Zabrutal |
I'm happy for the story moving forward.
Seeing the crackling energy has Zabrutal intrigued and he turns the ships sensors to watch the play of them over the damaged enemy craft to learn more.
Engineering: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
He then will seal his suit as he moves forward, technomantic staff in hand.
GM Woran |
The scan indicates that the energy is not a weapon or defense system, but some leakage from the ship’s engines. Nevertheless, it’s dangerous to living creatures. Shutting it off would be hard from the outside. Best chance for it would be in the ship itself.
pilot check zye: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Zye tries to take the Pegasus in, but still hyped on adrenaline from the battle, he is a little too enthousiastic.
Maneuvering the Loreseeker to align with the Endless Threnody’s rear cargo bay, he scrapes agains several of the bone spurrs, scratching the Pegasus paint...
Entering the Threnody, you find yourself in a small cargo bay. Its suffered damage, but a computer terminal at the back seems to be operational.
Gornoc |
While the more skilled take a look at the computer; Gornoc takes point and keeps an eye out for any remnant of the Threnody crew.
I'll keep look out! Get that energy leaked cleared up if you can.
Zye |
Zye tries to take the Pegasus in, but still hyped on adrenaline from the battle, he is a little too enthousiastic.
Maneuvering the Loreseeker to align with the Endless Threnody’s rear cargo bay, he scrapes agains several of the bone spurs, scratching the Pegasus paint...
....sorry The ysoki says sheepishly as he tries to make himself Tiny.
While they go onto the Threnody, Zye is still muttering to himself - Most landing docks don't have all those spike all over them..., but seeing a blinking terminal he points to it. How about that Zab? Maybe there's a map of the ship on it.
Think Zabrutal would be better at Computers than Zye, but if needed(/if possible) he can attempt to help.
Aid Computers?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Zabrutal |
Hobbling over to the terminal Zabrutal nods and pulls out his hacking tools to plug into the computer to access the systems of the Eoxian ship. Attempting to find the layout of the ship, the power flows and shutting them down.
Computer Hacking: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
GM Woran |
The layout of the ship is pretty straight forward. Designed as a cargo ship, its mostly large, open spaces connected with straight corridors. The way up to the bridge is simple.
Checking deeper into the computer, Zabrutal finds the cause of the energy leaks. The generator causing the leaks is not one that is needed for the mission, it is shut down with the help of Zye and Baskoro.
The computer in the cargo hold doesnt hold any other interesting information.
Moving on trough the corridors, you come to a T junction just before the bridge.
I've put you all on the new map. Let me know how you want to approach
Gornoc |
Gornoc takes the point and begins to move down the central corridor, homemade shock grenade in hand.
Peception: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Intent on making it to the bridge he forges ahead.
Kallus Harridan |
Sorry guys, with the boards being down, it's been difficult to keep up..
Earlier.. "Good flying everyone. We may just make a great crew yet."
Now...
Kallus, agreeing with Baskoro, says, "Straight through, but watch our flanks. We didn't pick anything up, but that doesn't mean there isn't. Someone or something was flying this ship."
He presses out with his mind to see if he can pick up anything as he keeps his sword at hand... he feels the now familiar presence of his companions and goes beyond that, into the empty corridors, towards the bridge...
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Flavor, not a power really..

As the team pushes forward into the Eoxian ship, Karine activates her helmet-cam. "The Endless Threnody - an Eoxian Corpse Fleet ship, disabled out in the fringes of the Drift," she says, the helmet-mounted microphone recording her monologue. "Not the kind of place we usually go, but even dead worlds have a touch of Wilderness." She looks around, moving her head in slow, smooth sweeps, making sure to capture the interior of the ship in all of its horrifying necromantic glory.
The feed is grainier than if she had an actual camera crew with her, but Karine's father always felt that, used sparingly, the helmet-cam drew the viewers in more, got them more invested when they could see wild worlds through his eyes. Karine tended to agree, and even now, watching some of her father's point-of-view footage helps her feel closer to him.
"The ship itself is exposed to the vacuum of space." Panning, there's nothing separating those in the ship from the void of the Drift. "The Corpse Fleet isn't known for having large crews of warm, breathing life-forms like us. As such, their choices in ship design tend toward the dramatic."
GM Woran |
I've advanced you slightly further on the map.
Walking carefully down the corridor, suddenly a bunch of skeletons jump around the corner! They are upon you before you can react.
Skeletons move as the surprise round.

Vesk deal lethal damage with unarmed strikes and the attack doesn’t count as archaic.
Zye |
Is this dramatic enough for you Karine? Zye says as skeletons seemingly erupt form the walls. Spitting out his gun, the ysoki scrambles amongst the bone walls and floor to get the best angle for a shot.

Gornoc: Nearly jumps out of his skin when the Skeletons round the corner. Reflexively he punches one. Adrenaline gives him strength and he punches trough the skeletons rib cage in one go!

Delaying for now, as Zye doesn't see any more threat.

Karine Iwrin |
As the skeletons appear from nowhere, the others burst into action! Karine, still filming, takes up a position that keeps her out of the worst of to record some footage. She keeps quiet for now; she can always add in commentary later on, and talking over the battle might ruin some of the (already less-than-ideal) sound capture.
Her fellow Starfinders don't disappoint! The chaotic action opens with a vesk fusillade, starting with Gornoc's literally bone-crunching strike and closely followed by a shocking attack from Zabrutal. The lightning in his claws throws the scene into sharp relief with flashes of blue turning night into day. Blades scrape and laser pistols fire, and suddenly the skeletons are no more. But in no time at all, another group of skeletons appear! Amidst more lightning flashes, a skull flies in from off-camera, hurtling into a skeleton!
At that point, something clicks in Karine's head and she realizes that maybe she ought to pitch in. Pulling her laser pistol, she levels it at one of the skeletons blue and fires.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
GM Woran |
The '6' was the roll for the actual attack, so unless these bones are extremely stationary I think I missed. Hopefully our vesk made up for it though :)
Oops, missed that on my phone.
Gornoc: Gives the skeleton a solid punch. Already damaged by Kallus, it crumbles.
Karine: Is getting some real exclusive footage. Images of the corpse fleet are rare.
She's so absorbed in her shooting, that she forgets she has a critical hit!

Unfortunately, the ratfolk not only breaks a key rule of television (never looks directly at the camera), but also forgets that turning your head away from your target tends to hurt your aim.
Baskoro |
"Great job team! Now get the last one! Zye, focus! Ignore the camera"
Baskoro turns to the camera "I am sorry viewers, he needs to forget you are here", the vesk then shoots in the general direction of the heap of bones, missing completely.

Karine Iwrin |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Karine groans inwardly at Zye's grandstanding, and Basoro's not much better. Karine's father had perfected his signature style of action-packed nature documentary that Wild Wild Life was known for, but it didn't work if the subjects seemed to be aware of the camera. Karine had yet to pull it off herself. Her mother could probably edit that part out later, but Karine preferred continuous-shot footage when she only had one camera angle.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
The disruption costs her her concentration, and her shot goes wide.
Kallus Harridan |
Using his power, he crushes the skull of the one that just went down. A grimace of anger slides across his face as he turns to the others. "If that is all they got, then let's get this over with." He turns, twirling the sword in his hand as he stalks towards the bridge.
