Dvalin Stormforge |
"Yes ... however, we should prepare first."
After which Dvalin prepares a vial of Holy Water to tosh at any undead we may find within ...
... then thinking about it further; tries to hand his two vials of Holy Water to Yakima thinking she has a better throwing arm :-)
P33J |
The door opens and inside is a lavish lounge.
Sumptuous hanging silks, plush cushions, and patterned rugs decorate this luxurious chamber. A cool breeze bearing the mingled scent of lotus flowers and perfume wafts through the room. The distant notes of a lively tune plucked out on a lyre are accompanied by the sounds of trickling water, birdsong, and feminine laughter.
Two beautiful women recline on the couches, eating figs and drinking wine. Their dress, while certainly millennia out of fashion is exquisite, their hair adored with fine jewels and golden braids. They both rise as you enter and bow low.
"Bastetabi," one of the women says in a pleasant alto voice. "We are honored with unexpected guests."
"I see Senenetka, by the Gods above and below, we are blessed. Let us share our Lord husband's hospitality with them." The other replies.
They turn to a table that is richly prepared with a sumptuous feast. They quickly pluck the choicest fruits from the table and place them on a golden platter. Then pour 7 glasses of rich red wine into golden chalices.
"Please, drink with us, so that we may offer you the protection of hospitality in our home," Bastetabi says as she offers you the tray of wine.
"And taste the harvests of Pharaoh's finest orchards," Senenetka says as she places the tray of fruit on a table near the couches.
"Ah but where are our manners Senenetka?" Bastebai says shocked. "Clearly these guests have encountered Mordecai and his men. They may think us treacherous due to our husband's jealousy. Let us taste a bit of the wine for them and a bit of the fruit for them. Acting as cupbearers for our guests so they know our generosity is genuine."
The women both take generous sips of the wine and each pluck a choice fig from the plate and take a small bite.
"Now, please guests. Honor us with a meal and your names."
Sad Rock |
Sad, seeing food offered, waddles to the front, eager to eat food that might taste good.
"Me Sad Rock...but Sad *not* monster," Sad says, taking a glass of wine. "Sad like food....oooh!...Are those figs?!" Sad grabs a handful of figs and begins to shove them down his gullet.
Dvalin Stormforge |
First Dvalin will attempt to understand who the ladies are and why they are here ...
Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
... then Dvalin will attempt to measure their sincerity ...
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
... in addition, he will try to recall how "Guest Right" was historically invoked (to ensure the offer of protection is valid) ...
Knowledge History: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
... assuming that Dvalin believes everything is correct (and nobody in the party corrects his assumptions), he will cast "Guidance," enter the chamber and accept the offered chalice of wine from the tray, speaking a blessing (that is actually casting detect poison followed by a detect magic) on the cup ... he drinks it.
"I am Dvalin Stormforge ..."
P33J |
It is not poison.
Knowledge Religion - Sometimes Pharaoh's were buried with their harem. How they're still alive is beyond you.
Sense Motive - They are sincere.
Know History - You don't recall any specific form of guest right within ancient osirion, but it is a relatively common concept.
The women watch you closely as you eat, as if they seek your approval.
Dvalin Stormforge |
Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
"Are we still friends ... now that the veil has been removed?
Once again ... Dvalin applies the Holy Weapon Balm (2/10) to his Greatsword as a standard action ...
Sad Rock |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Sad continues to eat and drink, as the taste of this food is not different than what Decka offered earlier. His eyes flicker briefly to the dusty pouch that was found earlier; Sad still wonders if it should be sprinkled over food.
Noticing the shriveled corpses, Sad does what any good packminder would do...holds out his cup: "More please. Sad hungry."
Yakima |
Yakima is extremely skeptical that what her eyes see is the truth. What language are the "Ladies" speaking?
Is it a will save to disbelieve? will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
if it becomes apparent that this is in fact an illusion and the two of them are undead as she suspects, she will warn the rest of the party and not do the rest of this post.
She will however take a cup of wine and do her usual alchemical process to detect type of potion (takes one minute, probably not subtle, but she really doesn't care if she offends).
Craft alchemy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
If it appears that it is in fact wine, then she will drink. And then take a bite of the fig.
My name is Yakima.
P33J |
It is not poison, it's just dust and old desiccated flesh.
Dva knows they are Zombie Lords.
They were extremely bored and would have continued to have been hospitable, however ...
The expression on the two women's face changes to one of sadness as Dva and Yakima peer through their ruse.
"We had hoped to have some companionship. It has been a lonely thousand years and our husband has abandoned us." Bastetabi says with a true tone of regret.
"We were once beautiful, beloved and honored in these lands, but now."
The viel drops to see two drained corpses standing in front of you.
"Now, if we can not be loved, we shall be feared. For when our beloved regains his empire, we shall reign with him for eternity. Perhaps, you shall serve us for eternity as well." They say in unison, their voices no longer melodious and alto, but gravelly and terrible.
Queens' Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Dva: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Yakima: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Sad: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Decka: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Dalligar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Decka and Dva up, then the Ladies, followed by the rest of the party.

Dvalin Stormforge |
I don't think they were very impressed Dvalin...
"Keep watching ... it only gets better from here :-)"
Decka Polemistes |
Hearing the ladies' evil banter, Decka reacts:
- Free Action: "By the light of the Flower of the Dawn, know eternal rest!"
- Full Attack (sending both arrows into the same target, outlined in red):

Dalligar Reldane |
Sorry, Job Corp life keeps me away from the computer sometimes!
"Well that could have been worse." Looking over at the Murda, Dalligar picks up its shortsword, giving it a few good swings and stabs, then sheathes it in his belt. "I like this thing." Adding one Shortsword to my inventory.
Following his allies, Dalligar is totally taken by surprise when he sees the beautiful ladies, even more taken by surprise at the feast, and finally horrified at the transformation into the creatures. "Why are the pretty ones always trying to kill us!?"
Shifting into place, (5ft step) Dalligar takes a swing with his new shortsword. Not sure if I can get into flanking, so I'll roll as if I'm not, including Sneak Attack damage.
To Hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 Not sure if that hits or not.
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Sneak Attack if applicable: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11 +2 Bleed damage, unless Zombies are immune to that. I don't know, I'm just the Rogue!
P33J |

Sad Rock |
Round 1, Init 8
Sad drops his cup and his figs, shocked that his new zombie food servers would suddenly attack his friends.
"No fleshy fig food flingers! No fight friends!"
Sad moves around, drawing his club and swinging wildly at orangezombie.
1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 8 - 1 = 20 to hit; (power attack)
1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10 blunt damage.

Yakima |
Yakima enters the fray in her usual manner.... she tosses a bomb at the marked zombie
bomb attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 1 = 28 threat!
bomb attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 1 = 28 confirmed with authority!
damage: 4d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 3, 2, 3) + 10 = 24. + 14 fire splash DC16 to halve on the other one. I of course exclude my compatriots from the fiery inferno.
Then with her move action she readies her wand of CLW to her tail.
Dvalin Stormforge |
Dvalin grins at Yakima ... "Well now ... that was a pretty show. Thank you."
Charge 29/50: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 14/24
Charge 30/50: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 20/24
Charge 31/50: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 22/24
Dvalin moves toward the east door. "Ready for the next one ..."
Dalligar Reldane |
"This just seems to be one big fight after the next. I hope to the Gods this is almost over. Dvalin has more blood on the floor than a stuck pig."
Moving up to the door, Dalligar looks for the tell-tale signs of a rigged door or a lock.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 +2 if there really is a trap
Sad Rock |
Sad scratches his ass while he looks around, wondering why the fig females had to turn out to be jerks while he was so hungry.
He readies his club and wishes it was nearly explosive as Yakima's bombs.
"You have good boobs, Yucky-ma. They big," Sad notes, examining the blast radius.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 Perception
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24 Perception
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 Perception
Dvalin Stormforge |
Right ... I don't think we should delay too long though.
How long do you need to prepare more bombs?
Would you be ok in the next chamber or do we need to stop now?
Dvalin Stormforge |
LoL ... yep ... sorta what I was thinking on the don't stay long idea. Not sure about the bomb prep, but I think it is a daily allotment. If so, Dvalin really doesn't want to wait that long; he doesn't like the idea of what's remaining coming at us all at once.
Still speaking with Akima, Dvalin adds ...
You still have my two vials of Holy Water right. That should help a little on the bomb front.
Sad Rock |
Sad happily offers to keep watch over Yakima's boobs bombs.
"Sad wait for you, Yucky-ma."
Sad waits, guarding, like a slightly-moving statue.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27 Perception
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 Perception
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 Perception
Yakima |
My bombs would take about 8 hours. Pretty much like spells for spell casters. I'll husband them carefully from here on out if you all want to continue. If you want to hand me that Holy Water I'll start using it on creatures it will prove inimical to.
Yakima pulls out a small notebook and makes some notes to herself while mumbling about "picking up more supplies next time."
Dvalin Stormforge |
Ok ... let's continue then.
Dvalin will lead the pack in standard marching order down the eastern corridor ...
Dalligar Reldane |
"I've got another Alchemist's Fire, if you think that would help any."
Dalligar hands over his Alchemist's Fire to Yakima. "I know you'd be able to make a much better version of it, but it'll do, right?"
Just before he opens the door, Dalligar looks back at Yakima. "If you don't use that Fire, I want it back. I paid good money for that."
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Both rolls +2 vs Traps.
Other two perceptions. First perception in previous post.

Also, you found a periphat of health on one of the Queens.
Huge granite slabs form the peaked roof of this chamber, the walls of which are incised with thousands of tiny hieroglyphs. In the center of the chamber lies an open stone sarcophagus, its granite lid cracked and broken on the floor next to it. A beautifully decorated wooden coffin lies inside, its lid also askew. Four alabaster canopic jars stand like guardians at the foot of the sarcophagus, while various grave goods lie heaped around the walls of chamber.
Sphinxes, Sekh-pa-Mefer III, Filled with grave goods and the wealth of the ancient pharaoh, this burial chamber could represent the single greatest find in modern Osirionology.

"°& ÁÏ◊ıÎ!" The Pharaoh shouts in ancient Osirion
Dalligar Reldane |

Drawing his shortsword, Dalligar plans for the worst, and with their luck, it might happen.
