P33J |
Take some time before I put up the first gameplay post this afternoon to introduce yourselves. Please include the PFS number, Faction and the name you'd like on your Chronicle as well (you can do it in a spoiler)
Tell everybody what you're playing and sort of get some tactics discussed.
Dvalin Stormforge |
Greetings and Salutations ...
RLN is Kris 147934-1
I will be playing Dvalin Stormforge {Inquisitor (Witch Hunter)/Cleric} of the Scarab Sages (Osirion).
Dvalin generally plays like a melee oriented field medic:
- Engage at range using Composite Long Bow
- Engage with reach using Lg Spear
- Engage adjacent using Greatsword
Yep ... first PC with only 7 games total so far; all but one from Gen Con 2014 where I started PFS. I apologize in advance for any errors, omissions, etc. etc. etc.
- [1] #6-03: The Technic Siege
[2] #6-01: Trail by Machine
[3] Gen Con 2014 Boon #13 - Personal Fixer
[4] #5-99: The Paths We Choose
[5] #6-00: Legacy of the Stonelords - Secrets of Creation (Armorer's District)
[6] #5-08: The Confirmation
[7] Gen Con Boon 2014 #7 - Factor
[8] #5-21: The Merchant's Wake
[9] #4-19: The Night March of Kalkamedes
Dvalin Stormforge |
Sure ... these are all the boons for Dvalin:
Sad Rock |
Sad jumps up excitedly as his name is called for the assignment.
"Sad do good work!" he says, immediately stowing his club and prepping his backpack for travel.
He bounces up and down excitedly, waiting for the mission to start.

Sad Rock: 11226-7.
Sad is loosely affiliated with the Silver Crusade and has no day job of note.
You can put Painlord or Rand for the name on the chronicle.
Yakima |
Yakima is an alchemist. She likes nothing better than figuring out new things. And sometimes, blowing them up.
She is pretty much ranged attacks only, and has a habit of throwing bombs at very close range if bad guys get too close to her. But don't worry she hasn't hurt her party members all that much.
Yakima |
Yakima's purchases:
Hot Weather Gear 8gp
100' Silk Rope 20gp
Small Tent 10gp
6 Large Map Cases 6 gp
An Empty Chest 2gp
1 Vial of Alchemical Solvent 20gp
1 Vial of Alchemical Grease 5 gp
1 pair of Ear Plugs in case the Oread turns out to be a snorer ;)
Dalligar Reldane |
With a bow and a flourish, Dalligar presents himself. "A pleasure, my new friends."
PFS: 19598-1 Dalligar Reldane
Name for Chronicle: David
Faction: Andoran, and proud of it!
Gonna try and play like a Rogue, flanking and aiming for the soft spot below the kidneys.
Sorry for not having this character completely ready for the adventure. It's been a while since I played with him last.
Sad Rock |
The moment the adventure turns to a large ravine to cross, you all look at the rogue.
So much snark...so little time...
1)
I would suggest putting me up front. I got skills.
"I think I would be better off up front."
Yep, it's hard to figure out why you were 'volunteered'. ;)
2) Dude, you're a rogue. They are a dime a dozen on the streets of Magnimar, let alone Kaer Maga. If you fall to your death, we whistle and get 10 more ready to take your place.
3) If you guys were smart, you'd send Sad across first. He's the heaviest (likely true!) and if he makes it across, the bridge is definitely safe.
Uhm...uh...uh...oh...
4) Dude, you're Andoran. That means you're old. You've had a long and healthy life. Time to live a little.
That's I got right now. :)
Dalligar Reldane |
I'm only 21 years old! And just because I am Andoran does not give me long life.
Thank my mother for that. Beautiful Elf she was. And then the accident...

I ask this for every campaign I'm in, just to get an idea for things.
If your character had a voice actor, who would they be?
I like the idea of Dalligar sounding like a mix of Matt Damon and Johnny Depp.
What about you guys?
GM, you can get it on this! Who does your Venture Captain Fighter sound like, and who does the narrator of our story sound like?
Dvalin Stormforge |
James Doohan Yeah Yeah Yeah ... I know. So I'd go with Simon Pegg if he's gotta still be amongst the living.
Dalligar Reldane |
Off hand, I'd say this guy.
I don't get it. Who is that? Is that from a TV show before my time? (Player was born in the early 90s)
If I had another option for you, I'd say the Rockbiter from Neverending Story.
Sad Rock |

What?! You've never seen Weird Science?!
/me cries for our lost youth.
Yeah, it's an 80s thing, but still good today. You should see it because RDowneyJr is in it and awful.
Anyhoot, if not Chet from Weird Science, then George Costanza from Seinfeld as the Sad actor.
Yakima |
I am going to be away from any possible network connection for the next 48 hours. Feel free to freely use charges from her wand for healing, but she won't bother to heal the 1 point on herself.
She will translate the hieroglyphs for everyone who cares to listen. Expounding tiresomely about their significance.
Dalligar Reldane |
Just double checked the rules on untrained knowledge checks.
Turns out I can't figure out what a creature is with an untrained Knowledge roll since I can only learn up to a DC 10, and to learn about a creature you roll vs a DC 10 + Monster's CR.
So unless I am fighting a CR 0 monster, I'll never know about it.
It's a mimic.
Mimics have a CR 4, so a DC 14 would tell us about the Mimic.
Legends tell of Mimics so large they can encompass whole hallways, sailing ships, or even entire dungeons and buildings. God, one of those things would suck to fight against.

Prehensile Tail: Many tieflings have tails, but some have long, flexible tails that can be used to carry items. While they cannot wield weapons with their tails, they can use them to retrieve small, stowed objects carried on their persons as a swift action. This racial trait replaces fiendish sorcery.
I have always seen this as I can ready and hold things in my tail, I know I can't use them from the tail, but are you saying I can't hold them there until I need them? If so what is the point of the feat?
Dalligar Reldane |
As I'm reading it, I see the words "carry items." To me, that says that the tail can be used to hold an item, but not use it.
In this case we should have the GM's say on it. I think you're using the feat right, but that's just me.
And if I was GMing in a homebrew, double nat 20s would result in max crit damage. Nice toss!
Decka Polemistes |
Not my intention to start a rules lawyer session. Just pointing out that we can't know what you're using: the alternate racial trait prehensile tail or the racial feat grasping tail--each of which let you do slightly different things. As you say, leave it up to the GM. Regardless, you may wish to update your character profile.
P33J |
So you guys have successfully wiped out the big bad. There are several other encounters (this Module is brutal).
If you want to back track out the way you came, you'll receive full credit, gold and prestige, as you have successfully completed the required "BBEG and 3 total encounters rulings for PFS".
Due to the fact that Yakima was not wearing the periapt when she was struck, it won't help her. But if you stabilize her, she can spend prestige and gold on a Remove Curse, Remove Disease combo that will prevent her from succumbing to Mummy Rot (which she will tomorrow due to Charisma damage).
She does need to be stabilized though.
Dvalin Stormforge |
Yeah ... I think at this point I would be happy to cut and run :-) especially as one of our number now has a clock ticking down.
Sad Rock |
Sad looks around wondering where everyone was going.
"No...more...'sploring?" Sad asks, looking downcast. He knows how hard it is to come by good Pathfinder assignments.
I'm fine with stopping, Sad is not. Poor sad Sad.
* * *
Hmm...that shirt re-roll (vs. 3 rounds of paralyze) might have saved Sad's life...and maybe the party's.

Pleasure playing with you all. Thanks for putting up with Sad.
Thank you, P33J. Good GMing. I appreciate it.

Personal Physician: You get a Personal Physician that can help with saves vs disease. Spend 4 pp to improve follower allows him to cast one of the following at the end of the scenario for free; remove blindness/deafness, remove curse, remove disease or remove paralysis. If you have at least 25 fame physician can reduce pp cost by 1 one per scenario for the following; break enchantment, neutralize poison, restoration.
I have already spent the 4PP so he can cast the Remove Curse for me.
