Thank you for the words of support. I am in an accelerated RN program, and they lovingly heaped Rhetoric ( you are right.. its argumentative writing and being able to dissect someone's argument in order to refute it) Pharm, and a Fundamentals class into the same quarter as our first clinical rotation, and a 5 hour lab class. Needless to say, I almost look forward to going to work every weekend!!!
Now, Law school is something I would dread.. I could not possibly handle the massive load of rote memorization, not to mention the hours upon hours of just sitting there doing the research etc. Hats off to you, man. I could never sit still that long. However, a labor of love is hardly a labor, right?
As for the alchemical stuff, once I knew what your shopping was about, I started thinking about what to do. A good friend of mine is a long time GM and plays through adventure paths pretty regularly, so he was able to offer some advice to help out too. In short, it just came down to what kept the game moving, allowed you to develop your character, and still was within the spirit of the game! I am glad it worked out to your pleasure!
Speaking of which.. I have two very heavy tests this coming week. I will try to keep up, but please excuse me if things slow down!

Volkar Glanral |

Nursing degree, per my Girlfriend who is an RN, is one of the toughest degrees to get. She was a bit surprised about Rhetoric...but could understand it when having to deal with Docs, patients etc.
As to law school, three years and you power through it. It was what I wanted to do and so I enjoyedit...That is a big part of anything I would say.
Best of luck with the tests...we will hear from you when you have the chance.

Volkar Glanral |

Hey guys, on a bit of a road trip to Portland then to Seattle. BUT, will have my phone and in theory I can do posts from it. I just have to concentrate on how I am hitting the keys. DevilDoc, continue to hope your wife's recovery is a good one.

Volkar Glanral |

Had a great time in Seattle and Portland. Lots to do and while in Seattle I was able to connect with a comic artist RANTZ, his pen name, who did this rendering of Volkar for me...

GM DevilDoc |

Dude, thats pretty sweet! Glad you had a good time!
The only time I have been in Seattle was a three day trip to bury my Aunt. Not much of a chance to go sightseeing, but I have wanted to go back and actually see the sights.

Volkar Glanral |

Thanks folks, and DD or anyone else, if you come this way, give me a heads up - Seattle is about 3.5 hours west of Forks - but I am there often.

GM DevilDoc |

Sounds great! Lmao.. Forks, huh? Seen any vamps around? I know, totally original, and I am sure you have never heard that joke before, but I had to go there and thats the best I have at the moment!

Daelric Morieth |

Well you have me at a loss there, no idea where Forks is. To be honest I couldn't point to Seattle on a map unless it had the name on it.
Glad you had a good time though.

GM DevilDoc |

Daelric, I notice some of your spelling has a bit of a European flavor to it. Do you mind if I ask where you are?

Daelric Morieth |

I live in England, born and raised. I have noticed that most of the people on this site are in America, or use American spelling. So I am sure some of you think I am spelling the words wrong sometimes, as I do before I realise Queen's English is different to American English.
Also probably why I post at odd times for you all.
As for the Attack of Opportunity, I knew that standing up would provoke, but didn't realise that picking up the weapon would. So thank-you for informing me of that, I just hope that the Goblin doesn't have Combat Reflexes.

Kiera Videns |

Thanks folks, and DD or anyone else, if you come this way, give me a heads up - Seattle is about 3.5 hours west of Forks - but I am there often.
I'm in San Jose, so a bit of a trip to Seattle, but I do have some friends and family up in Portland so you never know!

GM DevilDoc |

Daelric nah.. I am worldly enough to know the difference between queens English and american.. so I figured you were either European or.. please forgive me.. an aussie. I would love to travel the UK.. it's always been a dream of mine.

Volkar Glanral |

LOL...well it was raining, so they were probably in town...
Daelric, if you missed the TWILIGHT phase of fandom, God bless you. UK - family there and it (Londinium, York, and then lower Scotland) are all on my "bucket list".
Kiera, we were in Portland Fri/Sat am, then up to Seattle Sat eve, and Sunday.
-------------
Um I am not seeing any way Volkar can get into that room with a boar spear considering the small size of the hall, the door, and the room when everyone is where they are at.

Um I am not seeing any way Volkar can get into that room with a boar spear considering the small size of the hall, the door, and the room when everyone is where they are at.
I forgot to take my turn after the sleep spell launched, so Kiera moved back away from the fray. (Edited my post appropriately.) Go get 'em!

Volkar Glanral |

Thanks for all of the good it did me, LOL...um maybe hunting goblins with a boar spear is not the best approach? ;-)

Daelric Morieth |

I heard a load of hype about Twilight and tried to watch the first one, but as soon as the vampire started sparkling I turned it off.
I know a lot of people want to visit England, but I am not sure why myself. Sure we have a lot of nice countryside area's, but visitors pretty much only go to the cities and have the same food they would have at home. Whenever I go on holiday, I always try to find the hidden area's and eat that countries food.

Volkar Glanral |

LOL, yea sparkling vamps are a bit odd...
As to England...well now, to me it is where so much happened...and worth the visit...walk Hadrian's wall, visit the Mithradom in London, the British Museum...it all would be great. Have family in the North, and there are a few folks I have corresponded with on topics that would be great to visit and look about.
Forks is all of about 100 years old...so not much in the ancient history options here, lol.

Volkar Glanral |

travelilng on the next few days. I will check in and participate, but it may be shorter versions and with my phone, there could be some weird auto correct events, lol.

Volkar Glanral |

Hey folks, will check in before a speedy trip down to Portland OR and back by Wednesday evening. Will have my phone, so check ins will be about the same, posting may be a lot shorter tomorrow and Wednesday...back home Wednesday for dinner PST.

Daelric Morieth |

It is almost like GM DevilDoc knew Daelric in one of his previous incarnations. In the first campaign he was ever involved with he was known as "Daelric Door Smasher", everytime we came to a door that needed to be opened I rolled a natural 20 on the Strength check.
Well with me smashing the door to bits it definitely means that we are not being stealthy(ish) any more.

Volkar Glanral |

LOL, well maybe we need to do a bit of listening to see if we still hear the noises we had heard earlier?

Volkar Glanral |

Dang it, apparently previewed what I thought to put here and then lost it.
So, first, old man warning - I had to look up retcon, now understand the question by Andrezi. So on that note, I think I could see us all getting our kits, weapons, and such, then Andrezi asking us to join him in his prayers before we got going too far...Also could see the bless being the prayer before the battle. If the caravan bond is allowed, then Andrezi has to write the "flasback scene." ;-)
Oh, and Daelric...I have actually used the coin toss in real life a few times too...when the kids can't decide, and they go back and forth - I am like ok, enough - call it...and they shake their heads, but it seems to bring the bickering to a close. Even did it once when a former girlfriend, hmmm..anyway...who was a big foodie blog writer couldn't decide between two really good restaurants across from each other...Coin toss - we had italian that night, not the sushi.

GM DevilDoc |

Yea, I wasn't even going to go that far. Yall knew you were heading to trouble, so you would have taken your kits with you. I just needed clarification on what Andrezi was intending and then either he or I could write it up and on we went :-) basically if he gives me something I can work with, yall would pray before entering the fray.. could even do it right where yall are, but before busting down the next door. Then we would all be nice and continous and above all simple!

GM DevilDoc |

Daelric: lol I just went with the way you've been playing.. you lead the way! I figured that's what your next move was going to be, so I facilitated you!

GM DevilDoc |

Andrezzi: I am fine with the Caravan bond.. and bless is a great idea, but my interpretation of the bond is that it is used to bestow one of your domain powers to the group at the time of the prayer. Is this incorrect?
-Posted with Wayfinder

Talomyr |

You are correct. Caravan Bond requires a 1 min prep time and allows me to use domain powers at range rather than touch. I was asking if we could retcon to having that prep work done prior to leaving for the glassworks. If not, no big deal I will do the caravan bond later. Either way, just before going into the noisy room, Andrezi will cast bless. Two separate things.

GM DevilDoc |

Ok. I thought the domain power had to be used right then.. that's cool. I will get a post up as soon as I get access to a computer. At work for the day and training a newb.
-Posted with Wayfinder

GM DevilDoc |

Ok so, purely out of character and in the interest of expediency, I will give yall the choice: there is really nothing else of interest on this level, and makes for a boring and tedious PBP section. I can wrap it all up nice and neat and move us forward in the story, or we can continue with a room by room. What say you?

GM DevilDoc |

Sorry guys. Between the wife's surgery, and studying for finals, I was a little wrapped up. Good news, is that I have the next two and a half weeks off from school, so posting is going to go back up.. at least temporarily. Big post will be up in a bit.. out having a celebratory dinner after passing my tests this am.

Volkar Glanral |

CELEBRATE!!
Congrats on the test...and hopefully your bride is on the road to a very, very speedy recovery.

Andrezi Zeldana |

I do not have any strong desires for anything on the treasure list.
I do believe that Volkar should get the Ring of Protection +1 as his AC is fairly low and thus far has found himself on the front line more often than not.

Volkar Glanral |

Sure, I can take the ring if no one else is interested.
What I am wondering is if we need to take a rest? But, waiting overnight doesn't make a lot of sense..we could hvae another attack in the waiting.
I think will also prepare three grenade triggers...

Andrezi Zeldana |

I'm out of spells, but still have plenty of channels.
Perhaps the purchase of a couple of scrolls would be in order.

Andrezi Zeldana |

What all do we want to purchase before going below?
I have a few torches already, but would prefer a sunrod or two as those are easier to hook to a belt without burning one's self.
As far as potions go, I would say give the CLW potion that we have to someone who can't heal themselves. It may be worthwhile to pickup another one or two as well.
As for scrolls, Kiera's idea of a few melee boosters is a good idea. I think it may be worthwhile to pick up a couple defensive types as well (i.e. shield of faith) and a couple of CLW.
Thoughts?

Kiera Videns |

I agree with your assessment. Four scrolls of cure light wounds would run us 100 gp. Then maybe two shield of faith (50) and two... oh! Magic weapon! That's only 25 also and it's a minute of +1 to attack and damage. Plus in case we encounter something with DR/magic...

Volkar Glanral |

Agree with those ideas from both of you. I say we spend the funds we have and add those to our base. I can add three grenades for what those might be worth.

Daelric Morieth |

I agree that Volkar should get the ring for the extra AC bonus. Also the Scroll list is a good idea, the only bonus I can give myself is my Stone-Strike once a day.

Andrezi Zeldana |

I will be on a family vacation until Friday. I should still be able to post, but will likely be late in the evening and only once per day.

Volkar Glanral |

Ok, folks, I kinda feel we should try to systematically clear an area so that we know we don't have anything coming up behind us...but..not sure which is the best way to go!
