Just to cover our bases, I posted last night in the Flaxseed lodge, and have received a number of PM's from interested parties.. and some really amazing candidates have responded. I will work tonight on setting up a spreadsheet so that I can share these individuals with you guys and offer a chance to discuss the entries in a more private location.
Andrezi, let me know if your PM bears any fruit!!
I am looking for one additional player for a Rise of the Runelords AP game. We are playing for Society Credit, but with some house builds. We have been together as a team since November 2015 with the same group and are looking to hire a tad bit more muscle. If you are interested, pop the spoiler below and then PM me.
New players are encouraged, but keep in mind that this is a YEARS long commitment with little to no short term rewards when compared to Society Scenarios.
DETAILS:
As I said, we are a group that has been together since Nov. 2015. This is a PbP game, with all extras hosted in Google Drive. We started out with 4 players and myself as GM, but one of the players has been unable to post of late. If and when he returns, he will be welcome to take up his mantle once more, but have no fear: You will still be a major contributor to the team!
Where are we? We just started the second book and are in the town of Sandpoint. I don't want to give up too much more without giving you spoilers, but the second book is basically a murder mystery/horror theme. You would enter play with a new Level 4 character. Build parameters will be given later.
Who are we? We are all pretty familiar with the boards, although I am the only one in the group that routinely participates in Society. Two of the others are prevalent in the message boards and non-society games. It is a very relaxed and fun group, a bit of byplay and banter, and no drama/ difficulties. We all strive to maintain this atmosphere, and the right recruit will do so as well.
Current Players: Human Wizard
Human Cleric of Desna
Dwarven Alchemist
Dwarven Stonelord Paladin
What are we looking for? First, we are looking for someone dependable, reliable, and that can jive with the low key and low maintenance atmosphere. Second, we would prefer to have a front liner that can step up next to our hopefully temporarily absent Paladin. This is not strictly necessary, but would be helpful! Third, we need someone that will help move the story along and will participate regularly. I'm not requiring multiple posts a day or anything crazy, but more than popping in once a week with a post like "Grax swings his sword. *dice roll*".
Whats the Process? First off, let me be clear that I am not going to choose the candidate.. We as a table will choose you. Rather than making you go through all the hard work of building a character that has a 1 in xx odds of being chosen, the table will look over your post history primarily for Quality and Dependability. What we will be looking for is quality RP and interaction with your peers at prior tables and regular and dependable posting habits. If you are a newer player or at least new to PBP, your length of time will be taken into account so as not to punish newer accounts or players.
Still Reading this?? If you are still with me and want to join an amazing team that works so very well together, please PM me with the subject "Rise of the Runelords". Your name will be added to a list, and once the decision has been made, you will be notified one way or the other.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read all this, and I hope to game with you soon!!
Volkar Glanral
Ok, I took a look at the list and said Yes to all of the folks in that I don't know them but reading through their profiles they sure as heck know more about Pathfinder than I ever have or probably will. I was intrigued by two that were playing based in Japan or France as that could be a great set of interactions between us all.

All right. I have made some updates to the spreadsheet and posted a few more comments on the third sheet. Lets wait to see what happens with Andrezi's PM, then we can reevaluate where we stand. Currently, it looks like we are down to just a few real contenders.
How does this sound:
We see what else pops up between now and Tuesday/Wed. On Tues or Wed I can take the top 3 or 4 choices and we all vote off of that?
Maybe a rank system, 1-4, lowest score wins the slot?
That said, there is only one individual so far that has all four votes aside from Andrezi's invite.
Kiera Videns
Sure. DM always has prerogative, of course; you're the one doing the hard work of running the game, you get final say.
GM DevilDoc
nah.. just making suggestions that I think will work here. As far as I am concerned, this ordeal is more about you guys than it is me and we should make the decision together.
GM DevilDoc
Ok. Keira, if you wouldn't mind popping over to the spreadsheet comments, I would like to have consensus. Otherwise, we will vote between the other three choices.
GM DevilDoc
I sent Granta a PM with a link here, so he should pop in relatively soon to introduce himself.
I really hope that Daelric comes back happy, healthy, and soon.. his place will be waiting for him, and I am going to leave him as an active PC in the player listing. Hopefully, he will see that as an invitation to return when he is able.

Thanks for inviting me, super glad to be here!
I am leaving for work in a few minutes, but ninja-dotted gameplay to get started. Hopefully work will be slow today, and I can get cracking on character creation. I know that you need a primary melee, but are there any other gaps to fill, i.e. on skills?
Andrezi Zeldana
Welcome to the game, Granta!
Front-line melee is the primary function we need. If you have space for it in whatever build you decide upon, trapfinding wouldn't be an unwelcome addition either.

What should I do for character wealth? Should I do the default 6,000 gp for level 4, spending no more than half on any single item?

That will be tough, I'm not aware of any full BAB classes that get trapfinding, even with an archetype.

Certainly not a necessity, just a nice to have :)
Kiera Videns
Slayer with the trapfinding talent, which you can take at level 2, gives full BAB + trapfinding. You can combine this with various slayer archetypes to get some variety.
Ranger (trapper) has trapfinding in exchange for losing ranger spells.
I don't have trapfinding but I do have ranks in Disable Device, so I can help with mundane traps and locks (getting an Aid bonus is nice). And I am hoping to pick up the erase spell for dealing with magical symbols.
Andrezi Zeldana
Back in the really old days, I wouldn't have worried about it, but now that the cleric spell is simply Find Traps and no longer Find and Remove Traps it becomes a concern.
Urban Ranger gets Trapfinding at 3rd in place of Endurance too.
GM DevilDoc
I'm sorry I completely forgot about gold! Yes, just take standard gold for level.
As for the +bab, I really enjoy playing both of my slayer characters. That is a really tanky class once it gets going.
GM Granta
|
Good catch, Kiera! Slayer was the first class I looked at for trapfinding, but I forgot to check the talents. How many ranks are you planning to put into Disable Device though? I'm not sure there's enough of a need for me to disable traps if you can already handle the mundane ones, particularly since somebody is likely to know dispel magic anyhow.
Edit: I can't stand the ranger class, so none of those options would work.
Andrezi Zeldana
We are using background skills.
No difficult terrain creation (other than possibly the odd spell) here. I wasn't necessarily planning on item creation feats (as Kiera had been covering that), but I'm not opposed to the idea either.

The only high level campaign I've ever played didn't have any crafting, but I would imagine that one person will have trouble keeping up. The crafting pace doesn't escalate like character wealth does.
Anyhow, one of the builds I'm considering would take Master Craftsman and then Craft Magic Arms and Armor. I would be limited to only one of armor, weapons or bows though. Any chance you could cover one/both of the other two?
Kiera Videns
I'm taking Craft Magic Arms and Armor next level.
I currently don't really have any control spells but I'm considering picking up expeditious construction.
GM DevilDoc
Looks like Andrezi and Kiera picked up the important questions. As for the intro, we are still dealing with a situation at the moment so you have some time if you need it. They have returned to town though, so an intro would not be hard to work out. If you could, PM me when you've got your character set up and we can figure out how you want to be introduced.
Kiera and Volkar both have rented labs/ workspaces and are providing some goods for the group, and Kiera has been working on some crafting already.
Kiera Videns
Next time we get a fair haul of treasure, I'm going to ask the mayor if I can purchase the Old Light and turn it into a wizard tower. :D
GM DevilDoc
:-D Thanks for the heads up! I will have to start looking into that...
New post up. I have some things stewing right now, and others that I really don't know what to do with yet. I do know that before anything more kicks off, we need to get Granta situated and settled, so I have put off a few things story wise until we are ready for them with a cohesive team.
In the mean time, I need to figure out what in the hell to do with Habe. Returning him to Sandpoint and turning him over to Hemlock was not one of the many possible outcomes addressed by the text so I am having to do a lot of searching for additional intel at this point!
GM DevilDoc
Sandpoint Lumber Mill: Some form of very vicious undead. Tracks found across the river at a point where the Mill could be observed.
Grayst: Currently in the care of Father Zantus for Ghoul Fever contracted at an unknown time.
Ibor Thorn: Sheriff Hemlock has interrogated Ibor, the man who discovered the bodies, and doesn’t suspect the frightened miller knows much more. Currently incarcerated and on the premises.
Ven Vinder: This merchant is sheriff Hemlock’s only suspect, although the sheriff is fairly certain that Ven is innocent and that the murders were committed by someone else. Father of the female victim, when Sheriff Hemlock informed him of his daughters demise, he flew into such a rage that the Sheriff had to lock him up for everyone's safety. He is currently cooling his heals in a cell.
The First Murders: Three con men from the town of Galduria were found murdered in an abandoned barn south of town a few days ago. Their bodies are currently ripening below in a relatively cool and dry storeroom.
The Rune: The star carved on Harker’s chest certainly has significance to the killer, but Hemlock’s at a loss as to what it means. Perhaps an expert on runes (such as local scholar Brodert Quink) can be consulted? Kiera and Volkar also spoke of checking out the Old Light.
GM DevilDoc
Great! We can start to work you in shortly after this is wrapped up. It won't require all the bells and whistles to start with, so that will buy you time while still keeping everyone moving.
GM DevilDoc
Rest of group: That's fine by me! Do you want to go to Father Zantus now so that yall are ready in the AM?
Granta: I am pretty sure they have been using the standard 1/2 HD +1 +con.
If you need any time sensitive information, I think you already have me on Google Hangouts but just in case my contact is dragonthoughts83@gmail.com
GM DevilDoc
Looks great so far!
1) Are you planning on having rage stats in a spoiler somewhere? I see that this guy is quite different from a normal barbarian in this respect and a few spoilers for preplanned stat adjustments may help both of us.
2) Thanks for the DR and SR notes in your tag line. As Daelric could tell you, I am horrible about remembering this. Please forgive me here! Ditto for Guarded Life!
Other than that, and a needed shopping trip everything looks good.
GM DevilDoc
Andrezi: I meant to give this to you a while ago, but kept forgetting.
Take a look at this
If you are interested, there is a whole section on Desna in the ROTRL book, including some spells and a prestige class for clerics.
Andrezi Zeldana
Good article, thanks for linking it. I had forgotten all about the spells in there. When we start traveling a bit further, I may have to start preparing Dream Feast.
As to the prestige class, I think I'll pass on that one. If I'm doing any prestige class (and I'm not convinced that I am) it will likely be Harrower.
Korghym
Ok.. I have made a few edits as far as the map goes. The second slide is a general overview of where you are in the fields. The third slide is where we will handle combat, etc since the first map is not very well suited to such. I will endeavor to recreate the conditions of the first map as best as I can on the second map, but I will need your help to make sure that positioning is similar between the two maps in order to minimize confusion.
On the overview slide, I replaced the party with a single token, and moved our tokens to the side in marching order. Is it the first slide or second slide that you want to recreate in a more combat-friendly format? You said "first map", but did you mean "second slide"?
GM DevilDoc
Yea, sorry.. been doing way too much on way too little sleep lately. basically, the AP generated map of the fields and farms is going to be the "Reference" map of general location, and the shoddy obviously hand done one is the one where we will do our combat!
Edit after taking a peek: Very well done, and much appreciated!! I just did not have that in me yesterday and obviously my best fell short. Thank you!!
Volkar Glanral
@DD - you realize you got the 2500th post. WAY TO GO GM! Thanks for a great game and a great effort.
GM DevilDoc
Lmao Thanks, Volkar. I appreciate that! I saw your note on that, but at the time was too tired to frame a response!
GM DevilDoc
I apologize for my lack of posting or slowdown of late. These last two weeks have seen a great many things come up professionally, medically, and now legally. I will catch up and post as best as I can, but while dealing with health issues with the wife, I am also going through a professional transition from a job that I held for over 5 years and back into the medical field, as well as dealing with the legal system after a teacher at my son’s school not only battered him in the classroom multiple times but dragged him through the hallway by his neck. This might be considered a bit of oversharing by some, but I wanted you all to understand and I felt “Life is getting rough” was a bit too vague.
I will update as I can and will continue my games, but please understand if my pace temporarily slows. If I am a player and you need to bot me to maintain pace, please do so with my apologies. If you are in a game I am GM’ing, I have not and will not abandon you and I will update as I am able to.
Volkar Glanral
Wait,wait....wth??
How could a teacher get away with that??? Wow...ok, do what you need to do....we will work with things as they come
Korghym
That is definitely a monumental load to have to deal with! Take your time, and take care of yourself and your family.
Personally, I am completely fine putting the AP on hold if that helps you. A week or two vacation can wreak havoc on a 6 week PFS scenario, but might not even be noticeable in a 3 year AP.
Andrezi Zeldana
Take care of you and yours, this can wait. Korghym's suggestion of a hiatus would certainly be appropriate.
