Well that hit causes a slight recon.
Cole's strike carves a little of the mist off the creature. You would normally expect such a hit to do more damage to normal creatures. It is enough to slow the creature down again and prevent it from retreating so soon.

Round 3 It is actually still above the floor thanks to Cole.

By Asmodeous we caught a break. Now Fletch bomb it back to hell.

Cole weathers the bleed this round and 5' steps back before drawing an throwing his third alchemist fire.

Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2 Fire, if hit creature catches fire and will take 1d6 more next round if it doesn't put itself out.

Fire seems to hurt this thing well, weapons not so much if anyone but Fletch can hit me with the wand of CLW that would be great.

I hold the wand out to anyone who wants it, and prepare an action to throw a bomb if the mist springs up again. Please assume I will be using my Precise Bombs ability any time the splash would potentially hit an ally.

Readied Bomb: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 1 = 7 Nearly forgot my +1 from Point Blank Shot
Ka-Boom: 1d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 1 = 11 DC 16 Reflex to avoid 6 splash damage

And that's a miss. but that's ok it might still hit the creature with splash damage...I hope.

No one else wants to hit this thing?

Don't need to wait till it is precisely your turn to post

When there is some reaction from the mist, Declan looks on in surprise and passes her Alchemist's Fire to Fletch, knowing his facility with explosives is far better than hers. She would rather not throw and hit Kana or Cole. Given her luck, it is entirely possible.

With two people to throw through, I'd rather not have Declan throw and miss horribly

Human

Remember that when you miss Fletch your precise bomb doesn't apply. And this thing is making touch attacks in case my descriptions weren't clear.

Declan passes her fire off as Cole and Fletch throw their bombs. Fletch misses and the bomb lands to the left. The mist is unable to avoid the fire and is enveloped in flames. Acrid smoke coming off the creature. Cole manages to step away putting the mist in between the fire and himself. Kana fires a bolt of acid hitting the mist and hurting it a little. The creature attacks Cole again causing him to start bleeding again, then retreats below. 3 bleed. 1 con damage.

You guys are up again.

Correct on the Precise Bombs. Sorry if that was unclear in my last post, I had put in the whole "please use precise bombs to exclude PC's" before I knew it was a nat 1. I meant it as a disclaimer so I wouldn't have to retype that every post.

Focus, damnit! I finally get the chance to set things on fire and I miss?! If I die down here all that Cardinal will do is praise his "god" for winnowing out the weak. I am not WEAK.

Unable to do much against something like this, and being unable to reach Cole, Declan lets things happen as they would.

Human

Hopefully Kana will be well again. For now I'm going to keep having her do basic stuff.

You wait for the creature to return. You can hear it still burning from the fire. After a few seconds you hear nothing. The creature does not emerge. Then it flows up in front of Cole. Before it can attack him Fletch's bomb hits it and burns it up, destroying it. Science prevails.

The room is now empty with a door to the north and a door to the east.

Any inscription on either of them?

Neither door has an inscription or marking.

Kana breaks her silence by mumbling arcane words.
Detect magic on the doors and the room.

Human

You see no magical auras on the doors. The only thing you see is the rapidly fading aura from the broken globe. The doors are not locked. The north door open to a hall way and a door further along with another inscription above it which you cannot make out from this distance. The east door opens to a hallway that quickly turns north, presumably to another similar door to the rest.

nine lessons, nine rooms. They probably don't go to the same place so we may backtrack, but thats ok. This was lesson three. Lets take a look at both inscriptions and then decide.

Cole will get close enough to read the inscription in the north hallway before going back and checking the other door through the east one. Getting both inscriptions.

Human

To the north:
“Cruelty is a tool not a pastime. Be ruthless to thy
enemy but reward those who serve thee well.”

To the east:
“The chosen are revealed by their might. The weak deserve no sympathy.”

Well Fletch both seem like a possibel fight, at least the one to the North may also have some aid. What do you think? Should we start there?(meaning North Door)

Cole starts heading to the North door unless Fletch offers and objection. He tells the rest of the group of the inscriptions as well and says the same thing he said to Fletch as he continues to the North door.

I was thinking North as well. The East door will likely trap us in a room with walls that try to crush us. At least the North one sounds like we get to be proactive for once.

I rap the wand against the wall a few times to see if that will improve it's disposition.

Abra-Whatever. I use the wand on myself.

Cure Light, Lite: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

@Group: Was the Cure Light Wounds or the Infernal Healing Wand the one with 30 charges? Cole said we bought one with 30 and the other with 20 and I figured I would start tracking the CLW wand on my sheet. Used 4 times now in total (including this post).

North it is then.

I think the CLW was 30, but don't remember. Either way as long as we decide now an it stays that way. So go ahead and do the CLW as it had 30

Human

You all head north together and come to the door with an inscription above it that reads, “Cruelty is a tool not a pastime. Be ruthless to thy enemy but reward those who serve thee well.” The door opens easily into another square room the same size as the rest so far. Inside is quite empty, the only thing in this room is a torturer's rack in the centre. Another lantern lights up the chamber hanging above the rack.

Odd, looks like we found where the Cardinal and Tiadora like to play. Strange no exits in hear. Lets all spread out and take a few moments to search.

If we all line up and take a 5' wall section and take 20 and then move on we can do the whole room in 8 or 10 minutes. I have a 23 taking 20.

30,

Human

After a few minutes of searching the room for hidden doors you find one on the eastern side of the room. Inside is a terrified looking young man. At the sight of such strange creatures as Cole and Fletch he cries out and shrinks into the corner. You can hear him muttering a prayer of some sort, "Mitra... protect... fiends..." as he tries to hide.

"Easy there easy" he says changing the color and embrodiry of the clerical garnets to a white gold and red, mitran garnets, and calls on his celestial heritage with a halo of light above his head "what happened to you" he says to the man with a kindly voice

Quick thinking Wade
As the boys eyes are shut or he is looking down praying Cole too will use the Circlet to take on a priestly disguise of a Mitran. He then motions for the others to follow suit.

Look again boy. Your eyes must have tricked you. You must of been put through so much here. Why don't you let us help you. I am Sir Cole, knight and paladin of Mitra. Father Wade asked you what happened. Why don't you come out and tell us. We will protect you.

Fletch turns his head willing away his obvious man-bat features while also adjusting his circlet and thinking about a set of wizardly robes. Safely disguised, I round the torture rack into view of the young man. My outfit is a voluminous flowing robe the color of twilight with twinkling rhinestones depicting a starry summer sky. I hold my formulae book in plain sight trusting that the boy's eyes would be unable to differentiate it from a normal spellbook.

Following suit with the others, Declan alters herself, though not as significantly as the others, only changing her skin tone to something a little more passing of normal, covering the brand, and hiding her fangs. The others could go on with their fancy clothes, but no large group of priests would be without some hench-- assistants. She had no idea what to say to a kid in this state, so just remained quiet at the door. She did suppress a snort at the kid's prayers, though.

A restorative potion or magics perhaps?"

"You know, as comforting as all this is, can we figure out how to get out of here? The longer we're down here, the worse it might get."
