'The rage, the taint, I need to keep a clear head!' Looking at the bow, looking at the dead weasel, Einar, turning and looking at Crummock his eyes glazed over, shrugs his shoulders and puts the bow away. Still in a daze he drops to his knees and drawing his kunia he begins to skin the creature. After a few moments he holds up the bloody white fur, looking at Mister Whiskers. "Now ve can heal zee vounds."

After the wand is used to heal him, Einar, having tied the fur to his pack, picks up his glaive and begins to follow the trail.

"Aye, it'd be a shame to waste a pelt like that!"

Once Einar has finished his work, Crummock continues on down the path, ushering the dogs along with him.

Einar manages to turn the weasel into a fine white fur pelt. In the right hands, this pelt would fetch quite a fortune, being elegant enough to grace any noble's shoulders...

random encounter?: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Guys! It's 7.40 pm in game. And night already. You've been like marching for eh...14 hours already! One last encounter and you guys should head to bed! Pfft!

The party continues down the path through the snowy forest. The weather is getting considerably colder, far colder then what they would have expected night to be. Overhead, they hear a familiar voice, and see an all too familiar blue shape. A blue ice mephit with thin, leathery wings, small horns, a nasty smile on her face. "I've been expecting you." Izoze calls out to the party from her perch, 20 feet above the ground. Her eyes are alight with eager anticipation.

Einar takes 3 points of cold damage, Ziva, no cold damage (after subtraction from trait), and Vernai, 1 point of cold damage. Einar is sickened for 3 rounds

"Vamos, Squalid. Pongamos fin a estos intrusos, en nombre de Nazhema." She commands in an incomprehensible language.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Out of another tree(20 ft above) swoops down a cloud-like creature with dark hollows reminiscent of eyes and a mouth, with a howling wind whips it into ominous shapes. It attempts to slam Einar with its airy arms before retreating and gaining height once more(backing up to 20 ft in the air).

Attacking from above, +1 for higher ground

Since I think it will crop up (since it looks like it is using Fly By Attack), and is a common misapprehension, I note that unlike Ride By Attack, Fly By Attack does *not* prevent AoOs - so the creature is going to provoke like crazy once we have all had a chance to act...

Crummock moves to stand beside Einar, and readies to strike the cloud-like being when it next comes within range.

He then points to the giant mantis, and then back to Izoze.

'the blue battler, I'm so tired of her already' Out of frustration more than anything, Einar draws a javelin and throws it at the blue flier. "Sie sprechen viel, hier fangen!"

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

"Yeowch!" She gives a yelp, even though the javelin makes only a minor dent in her bum, and glares at Einar.

"Conseguiré ese lanzador de jabalina. Elija a alguien que pueda, pero cuidado con sus armas!" She commands her compatriot.

Ziva looks confused at the man suddenly speaking to her in a foreign tongue. Finding it both annoying and irritating she frowns up at the icy creature, having weathered its icy blast with no ill effects. She notes its size, and tactics, and immediately reacts accordingly.

Remembering what someone told her about magical defenses, she bends over and casts Magic Fang on Vernai, while triggering her Hunters Focus (Ant), ability.

Vernai then soars over to harry the Ice Mephit with her claws.

Attack: 1d20 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 1 + 1 = 11
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Realistically, Vernai should be right on top of it, which means that it can attack Vernai, which then gives Whiskers a spell attempt, or it can try and annoy someone else, which would (hopefully) provoke an AoO from Vernai. Thats what I'm trying to kinda pull off anyway.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Izoze agilely twists in mid-air, easily avoiding Vernai's claws, then switches direction, retreating back to the tree(20ft above ground), leaving Vernai grasping at empty air. The wound inflicted by Einar's javelin completely heals.

Vernai AOO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

"Eat Icy death, you b@stard!" She gestures rudely at Einar.

Einar feels his breastplate start to become colder.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Squalid(the cloud like creature) follows Izoze's command, gaining height, then making a dive bombing run on Vernai, giving the giant mantis an airy downward punch from above.

I was hoping she would be higher up!

Mr. Whiskers finishes his spell.

Now would be a great time to fail a DC 15 Will save

He then gets out a wand and taps Einar's Glaive with it. "We need to kill her before she heals again,"

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Izoze's will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Caught by Mr Whisker's spell, Izoze gives a yawn, then falls out of the tree, landing on the snow with a soft thump

falling dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3

The impact of the fall definitely wakes her up, as the party can see movement from the small impact crater she created where she fell.

I'm assuming that the air elemental is in the air so Einar can move under it on his way to Izoze

As Mister whiskers taps his glaive ”Ha, ha, ha, sleeping und falling, blast zee drop has awoken der verdammte biest.”

Seeing Mister Whiskers hard work all going for naught. Einar, as he hustles forward, calls up his demonic heritage; his body tranforms: His ankles and feet shift becoming more animal like, his hands also grew larger with talons, now appearing as claws, his maw extended and his eyes grew red, his small black horns became more prominent as his skin wgoes from pale to shiny, emphasizing and enlarging the scales. Causing his Cambion ancestry to become very prominent.

As he lets out a roar, ”Aaauuurrrggghhh.” he hustles to the end of the bridge he thrusts at the little blue flier lying helplessly on the ground.

Ziva drops her sword, grabs her bow, gifted to her, before firing a shot at the creature attacking Vernai, hoping to annoy it enough into switching targets.

I didn't add prone to Vernai's attack but if she hit then it's an automatic grab attack with I think a +4 bonus. I'd def need to be home though to crunch it with all her buffs active

@Ziva, as far as I can tell, Vernai's current grapple modifier is: +1 (BAB) + 4 (Grab) + 2 (Aspect) + 1 (Magic Fang) + (effectively) 4 (for the target being prone), so that should, theoretically, be a 15.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Ziva's bowshot whizzes past the windy creature.

Even on the ground, Izoze is surprisingly agile and dodges out of the way of Einar’s glaive.Vernai manages to savage her with a single claw, neatly hooking Izoze.

I think your grab modifier is wrong, +1 BAB, +1 for higher ground, +1 for magic fang, + 1 for aspect, +4 for grab, total +8, with +4 for prone, so + 12 total. Grab correct.

Izoze looks up in alarm, and no small measure of fear as she finds herself on the snow covered ground with Crummock, Einar and Vernai impaling her with a claw. ” Squalid, sacarlos de mí!” She shrieks.
”Si, jefe. “ Squalid grumbles as he obeys her command, turning into a whirlwind and trying to sweep Crummock, Einar and Vernai away.

Activating the following ability:
Some creatures can transform themselves into whirlwinds and remain in that form for up to 1 round for every 2 HD they have. If the creature has a fly speed, it can continue to fly at that same speed while in whirlwind form; otherwise it gains a fly speed equal to its base land speed (average maneuverability) while in whirlwind form.
The whirlwind is always 5 feet wide at its base, but its height and width at the top vary from creature to creature (minimum 10 feet high). A whirlwind’s width at its peak is always equal to half of its height. The creature controls the exact height, but it must be at least 10 feet high.
The whirlwind form does not provoke attacks of opportunity, even if the creature enters the space another creature occupies. Another creature might be caught in the whirlwind if it touches or enters the whirlwind, or if the whirlwind moves into or through the creature’s space. A creature in whirlwind form cannot make its normal attacks and does not threaten the area around it.
Creatures one or more size categories smaller than the whirlwind might take damage when caught in the whirlwind (generally damage equal to the monster's slam attack for a creature of its size) and may be lifted into the air. An affected creature must succeed on a Reflex save (DC 10 + half monster’s HD + the monster’s Strength modifier) when it comes into contact with the whirlwind or take damage as if it were hit by the whirlwind creature's slam attack. It must also succeed on a second Reflex save or be picked up bodily and held suspended in the powerful winds, automatically taking the indicated damage each round. A creature that can fly is allowed a Reflex save each round to escape the whirlwind. The creature still takes damage but can leave if the save is successful.
Creatures trapped in the whirlwind cannot move except to go where the whirlwind carries them or to escape the whirlwind. Trapped creatures can otherwise act normally, but must succeed on a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) to cast a spell. Creatures caught in the whirlwind take a –4 penalty to Dexterity and a –2 penalty on attack rolls. The whirlwind can have only as many creatures trapped inside at one time as will fit inside the whirlwind’s volume. The whirlwind can eject any carried creatures whenever it wishes as a free action, depositing them in its space.
If the whirlwind’s base touches the ground, it creates a swirling cloud of debris. This cloud is centered on the creature and has a diameter equal to half the whirlwind’s height. The cloud obscures all vision, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. Creatures 5 feet away have concealment, while those farther away have total concealment. Those caught in the cloud of debris must succeed on a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) to cast a spell.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

”If this is the end, then I’d rather die on my feet!” She snarls defiantly as she stands, while still being impaled on Vernai's claw, her back against the tree. Crummock and Einar take the opportunity to stab her, with Crummock stabbing her deeply in her side. Being impaled by one of Vernai's claws, she is unable to dodge as Einar stabs her in the chest and pins her to the tree, where she slumps against it, unconscious, her blue blood dribbling down Einar's glaive.

Also tell me if I'm being stupid, but if this is a small elemental, how can it pick up Crummock with its whirlwind if it affects things smaller than it? Am I just missing something hugely obvious?

Male Bleachling (Gnome) Oracle (Spirit Guide) 18 (HP 219+5/219+5) (AC 49/27/38) (CMD 24) (Fort +17, Ref +25, Will +17) (Init +2) (Perception+32)

Its a bit ambiguous, but a small elemental can technically form a 20' high whirlwind... which, by one reading of the ability, means that it could theoretically pick up *huge* creatures. Of course, if its ability to pick things up is based off its original size, then it couldn't pick up anything bigger than Tiny. That said, I think the former is how is how a literal reading of the ability has it as working.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

I spent a lot of time reading about it before I even thought about doing it, believe me. See here. Since the whirlwind is 10-20 feet tall (even if the creature creating it is small.)

He's going to continue trying to take it off until it stops being cold, if someone could pull out a wand to counter act some of the cold damage that would be wonderful

Seeing Einar struggling with his armor, Mr. Whiskers rushes up to help.

Einar's cold damage: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
Einar's cold damage: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
Einar's cold damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Mr Whiskers finally manages to get Einar's breastplate off him, and by that time its not cold anymore.

Set up your night watches, and then we'll move to next morning

I assume someone heals Einar during and after that chilling breastplate.

Mr. Whiskers request to be either on first or last watch and that someone share the watch with him. "I want to get a full night's sleep, and I fear many of the creatures we have met could sneak up on me."
