Ragnar Lothveld |

Know Arcana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Ragnar looks at the writing in the snow, casting Detect Magic as well. Squinting, he tries to recall a story he heard back home regarding this sort of thing. . .

Ragnar Lothveld |

"We may want to go around the words. I believe it may trigger a warning to whomever is guarding the portal."
Can I see where the edge of the aura is and would it be easy to walk around it?

Vyr Embar |

"Giving it a wide berth seems the best course."
Does the topography allow for us to skirt around it, say 30-40ft away?

![]() |

"Agreed. But watch for less obvious traps, magical or otherwise." Rerdahl follows Asric.
Watching for anything else as we go around the symbol. perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13 Hmm... Not seeing much with that roll!

GM Deadly Secret |

Yes you're able to go around it and avoid activating it.
Your party moves around the symbol and continue to follow the trail and the source of the snow.
The date is 4713 AR on Fireday, 19th Earstus at 8:00 am - current moon cycle: waxing crescent
The Location - Trail to Portal
A cold wind blows through the valley, bringing a spray of sleet and broken ice. The sky ahead roils with thick, gray clouds and the sun is only a dim glow somewhere in the mist.

Ragnar Lothveld |

Perception: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 4 = 18
Ragnar follows quietly as the group trudges up the trail to the portal. Spotting some tracks in the snow, he points them out to the group. "Looks like something is waiting for us up ahead. Anyone know who or what might own these tracks?"
Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 9
What size are the tracks?

Asric hates that his vision is so unhelpful in this light, but he's glad he has sharp-eyed companions.
survival: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
"I'm afraid I'm not good with tracks."

![]() |

Rerdahl examines the tracks Perception: 1d20 + 11 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 11 - 4 = 27
Now if I can just roll that again when we really need it!

GM Deadly Secret |

Ragnar & Rerdahl both spot the tracks and point them out to the others. Gozrym can tell that the tracks belong to a giant weasel. You see some the sign of deer tracks as well and you are able to track them into a small cave opening.
You don't see it yet and it doesn't seem to see you. How would you like to approach?

Gozrym Trygve |

"If you will all stand back, I have some experience with the creatures of this forest. I don't see a need to harm the beast if we can encourage it to leave peacefully."
Once within 30 feet of the weasel, Gozrym will use Wild Empathy.

GM Deadly Secret |

Unfortunately that was a rather low wild empathy.
The party slowly approaches where the giant weasel is and it comes into your sights. Gozrym attempts to talk to it but it seems to be wild for food and turns to attack.
