About Ragnar Lothveld

Brief Background:
Ragnar's parents, Fynn and Adula, met when his father, a weaponsmith and merchant from Kalsgard, was traveling through the Inner Sea on a merchant vessel. While in a small town in Souther Taldor, Fynn caught site of Adula, a young Taldan woman, it was love at first site. Fynn was so enthralled by Adula he decided to stay in southern Taldor with Adula. The two were inseparable, and it wasn't long before Adula became pregnant. The two were ecstatic to start a family. They dreamed of living on a quiet farm and raising their children. Unfortunately this dream would not be realized. As it was time for the baby to come, it was an extremely difficult labor and in the end Adula died during childbirth. Fynn was heartbroken and shortly after he buried his love, Fynn returned to Kalsgard with his newborn son.

Ragnar grew up in Kalsgard learning his father's trade. Though he learned his craft well, his true joy was going to the waterfront taverns and listening to the songs romanticizing war and tales of battling exotic beasts in the north. Shortly after Ragnar turned 20 his father became extremely ill. Try as he might, even the local apothecaries and priests couldn't help Fynn. Ragnar believe's his father finally died of a broken heart. On his death bed, Fynn's last request was that he got to be laid to rest next to Adula.

It's been two days since Ragnar buried his father. He's slowly making his way back to the Inner Sea to catch a ship back home to Kalsgard. Never truly having been to his mother's homeland, he is taking his time, stopping at many of the towns taking in the people and their stories. Ragnar is currently in Heldren for the night, maybe two, and currently enjoying a tankard of ale while listening to the locals gossip and tell their tall tales.
