Exiel, Rhon and Amsheagar endure the rank stench of the demons, but Purs begins to gag a little.

Purs is sickened.

Exiel casts his little spell and repositions. Purs attempts to bring his spell to bear on a new target, but fails to pierce through the demon's spell resistance, and the spiritual ally winks out of existence.

GM:

1d20 ⇒ 16

Amsheagar attempts to end the battle quickly by turning one of the demons into a demonic rabbit, but the demon refuses to succumb to the indignity. Rhon continues to carve a bloody path through the demons like a true and proper paladin, cutting down Red and then stepping up to Yellow to deliver a devastating blow!

Faced with proof of Rhon's impressive defences, Blue and Yellow back off from him and bring more of their evil magic to bear on the dwarf and the nearby halfling.

GM:

5d8 ⇒ (7, 8, 6, 8, 3) = 32

On the other side of the battlefield, Orange tests Exiel's defences, unaware of the tricks of the apparently lightly-armored fencer.

GM:

3 unsuccessful attacks later, the demon learns the error of his ways. They now understand that the 2 paladins must be overcome with magic if they are to be overcome at all!

Red is defeated.
Amsheagar, Purs and Rhon each took 11 damage from the unholy spell last round.
Purs is sickened from the stench of the Hezrou.
Purs and Rhon need to make 2 more fort saves each.
Pathfinders are up.

Purs, Exiel and Rhon withstand the magical attacks with ease, though they still take some damage.

Purs begins the counter-attack, but luck is not on his side at the moment, and all his attacks miss their target. Amshaeagar finishes his spell and brings forth a large treant to the battlefield, which smashes blue in the face. Rhon follows up with a mighty blow that cleaves the demon in two. Exiel takes a little longer to finish off the demon, having to stab it again, and again, and again, but finally the last opponent falls.

Purs and Rhon took 7 damage last round.
Exiel took took 9 damage last round.

As you defeat this wave of enemies, the fog over the island slowly lifts, and then clears. It has been a long siege, but it appears for now that the enemy might have retreated.

Minutes turn into hours, and eventually you come to believe that no more attackers will come. Queen Esmyra comes to you herself to thank you for your efforts and to take your rest - her guards will keep vigil for the rest of the night. You are shown to the bests quarters in the palace apart from the queen's own chambers, and find yourselves rather weary from the day's exertions. The beds are comfortable, and you are able to sleep well.

Unfortunately, while your sleep is restful, it is cut short early in the morning as you are woken by the blasts of trumpets. There is a pounding at your door, and Exiel's familiar translates the urgent summons, but you can already guess what is happening. The attack has resumed! You barely have enough time to grab your gear and make your way to the balcony near the main entrance. When you arrive, you see that the battle has already been joined. Maftets litter the skies, raining projectiles upon oceanic monsters in an attempt to halt their advance, but their efforts are of limited effect and many of the enemies are already well on their way to palace. Judging from the numbers it appears that the enemy has mustered all their remaining for this final assault. One way or the other, the siege will end with this battle...

When you arrive, you see that the courtyard is already overrun with enemies, and dead maftets litter the ground there. It would appear that you will be the last line of defence between the attackers and the non-combatants taking refuge within the palace.

Exiel, Rhon and Amsheagar reach the balcony a little earlier and are able to respond to the enemies sooner.

Pathfinders you were only able to rest for 3 hours, enough to stave off fatigue but not enough to regain any of your daily resources. "Best get that out of the way while we're still nearby to each other."

Remembering that the enemy possesses breath weapons, he takes flight, circling around over the cliff to try to draw the enemy's attention away from the palace (to an elevation of 65ft).

Sorry I was waiting for Purs, and then remembered that Purs was coming up later in the initiative.

The three pathfinders cast their buffs and prepare for battle. Amsheagar already recognizes the nuckelavees and as a druid he recognizes water elementals when he sees them, but for the moment he cannot remember much about their specific characteristics - perhaps he has yet to fully wake from his recent slumber?

The invaders move to respond to the threat. One of the elementals climbs onto the balcony and takes a swing at Rhon while the other rushes along the side of the balcony to attack Rhon from the side. Three of the nuckelavess move to the corner of the cliff to breathe on Exiel while 2 more move to the narrow passage where they see the treant squeezing in the passage. They breathe down the passage, catching Amsheagar and Purs as well.

Rhon manages to fend off the watery fists that hammer at him. The elementals look at each other and exchange a few words in their strange watery language.

The last nuckelavee continues to hammer at the door on the West side, seeking to break in from there.

Purs, Amsheagar and the treant each need 2 reflex and fort saves.

Purs You had enough rest to not be fatigued, but not yet enough to recover spells. You're trying to last through a siege. Judging by the numbers this looks like the final push. You also only needed 2 sets of saves.

Purs feels a little ill from the blast of noxious vapors, and Amsheagar fares only a little better. Exiel, with his evasion, avoids being blasted out of the sky.

Amsheagar's treant is forced to squeeze within the passage, and is only able to make a single strike. It connects, but much of the force is absorbed by the creature's unnatural skin. Rhon plows into the red water elemental with significantly better results, though he also feels that his axe is meeting resistance, which he realizes should not be surprising considering that he is literally trying to cut water with his axe.

There is a horrible screeching sound as it catches Rhon's shield between its watery appendages, partially crushing it. The other water elemental sees that Amsheagar has grown to become a new threat, quite literally, and attacks him directly, but misses.

Amsheagar I'm tracking the treant's hp and have taken its DR into account.

GM:

10d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 6, 6, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4) = 37
3d4 ⇒ (3, 4, 1) = 8

Purs, his dog and the treant are further ravaged by the breath weapon, but remain standing. Exiel once again avoids the breath weapons blown at him.

Amshaegar casts a major healing spell, bringing his treant from the brink of destruction. The treant pounds at the nuckelavee in front of it more, dealing a little more damage.

Exiel's plan pays off. He knocks his target clean off the edge, sending it towards the waters below. You hear a distant splash and a furious screech.

GM:
20d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 4, 1, 5, 2, 5, 5, 4, 2, 1, 3, 4, 5, 3, 5, 5, 1, 6) = 70
3d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3) = 6

Purs finishes his summoning, bringing forth a bear that attacks red. It hits once, but fails to do any damage. The nuckelavees quickly decide that it is not a significant threat.

Rhon continues his battle with the Red water elemental. He hits several times, but the elemental is resilient.

The nuckelavee see that Exiel has landed on the ground and seize the opportunity to surround him. They attack him from every direction.

GM:

4d20 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 16) = 27
2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 4) + 3 = 13

Exiel takes a hit from the strange long tresses of one of the nuckelavee. He feels a strange sensation as some doubt creeps into his mind.

GM:

4d20 ⇒ (11, 5, 1, 17) = 34
2d10 + 10 ⇒ (1, 8) + 10 = 19
2d10 + 10 ⇒ (8, 7) + 10 = 25

Seeing that Rhon's shield is partially damaged, the water elementals set to finishing the job so they can get to the chewy dwarven-center under the hard shell. However, they get only a couple of hits in and do not get very far. They begin to wonder whether they should let the nuckelavee deal with this nuisance with their breath weapons instead.

GM:

7d20 ⇒ (20, 12, 11, 10, 6, 7, 11) = 77
2d8 + 18 ⇒ (6, 1) + 18 = 25
1d8 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 3) + 3 = 10

The last nuckelavee goes all out on the treant at the bottleneck. It deals a devastating blow with its longsword, hacking deep into the treant's bark.

Purs takes another 37 damage, then heals 35hp from Amsheagar's spell.
Purs' dog takes another 18 damage, then heals 28hp from Amsheagar's spell.
Amsheagar heals 34 hp.
Amsheagar's treant takes 18 damage, then heals 36hp, then takes 41 damage (after DR). Down 117hp. I believe it is down.
Rhon heals 29 hp.
Rhon's sheild takes another 5 damage. It should have 65hp left.
Exiel heals 34 hp, then takes 13hp and needs to make a fort save. You are also quite surrounded now.

Pathfinders are up. I believe the treant may be down.

Amsheagar whizzes through the enemy's ranks! One of the elementals evades him, as does one of the nuckelavees. However, the rest fail and are battered by him to various extents. He even manages to snag one of the nuckelavees with him, draggin him over the edge of the cliff.

Rhon redoubles his assault on the water elemental. It takes hack after hack after hack, but finally, with his last swing, the water elemental bursts into streams of water that flow down the cliffside.

Exiel and Purs are up
Amsheagar you have 1 nuckelavee in your whirlwind, and can eject him down the cliff if you wish. It is a 380ft drop.

In retaliation, he drops magenta down into the water below. Then he doubles back over to the other three nuckelavee, but only manages to suck in one other nuckelavee into himself. Flying over the edge, he drops that one too. He finishes with a bolt of lightning at the last water elemental, but that is partially dodged.

Purs finishes his spell and faces off against orange. His attacks miss, but gives his summoned elemental a flank that allows it to get a hit in. Exiel follows up with a dark spell that crushes the nuckelavees' bones painfully, badly wounding it but not enough to kill it.

Rhon begins his duel with the next water elemental, scoring 3 hits.

Purple gets wise to Amsheagar's tactics and unleashes his breath weapon upon the elemental-druid. Red does not have his breath weapon back yet, so he takes a 5ft step towards the new elemental and full-attacks. Orange realizes he is boxed in and breathes at the earth elemental and in Exiel's general direction, while the water elemental tries to sweep Rhon over the edge of the balcony.

Amsheagar sucks up another nucklavee, and drops him over the cliff. It curses Amsheagar in Aklo as it falls into the water. Red takes a little bit of damage from the lightning, but is not much fazed.

Rhon continues his battle with the water elemental. He does a good amount of damage, but he is after hacking at water with an axe, and though he does do damage, it is not as efficient as one might hope.

Although battered and bloodied, the enemies continue their assault. Red steps into a flank with the water elemental and attacks the earth elemental. The water elemental turns around to attack the earth elemental as well. The earth elemental is battered multiple times, and finally overcome.

Meanwhile, 2 of the nuckelavees have returned to the battle, having returned from being dropped back into the water. You can that further to the South is a strange spout of water that appears to serve as a bridge for them to swim up - presumably this is how the attackers have been getting up the cliff in the first place.

Amsheagar takes 16 damage
Purs' elemental is destroyed.
