You do not know how much longer the eagle will flee for, unless Amsheagar dismisses the spell early.
"We are the maftets of the Golden City of Buyan. We would speak with you more, but it is not our place. Will you speak with our queen? We can escort you to our city."
Going to wait for the weekend to see what is happening with Jaggar. If he still does not post we will move on.

You do not know how much longer the eagle will flee for, unless Amsheagar dismisses the spell early.
"We are the maftets of the Golden City of Buyan. We could ask you more about your quest, but it would not be our place to offer you assistance ourselves. Will you speak with our queen? We can escort you to our city."
Going to wait for the weekend to see what is happening with Jaggar. If he still does not post we will move on.

![]() |

"We would be delighted to speak with your queen. Please lead the way." Rhon follows the Maftets to the Golden City of Buyan, if that is where they lead us to.

![]() |

Amsheagar finishes translating and then swims to the shore. Dismissing his spell once he is on the beach.

![]() |

Ok, that is long enough. I will assume Jaggar is not with us for the moment.
The maftets escort you to through the jungle to the city gates to the central plaza before a dazzling (though relatively small) palace, where the entire clan gathers round to await the appearance of the queen. While you wait, one of the maftets, a powerfully built warrior in gleaming golden armor, approaches you demanding to know why you as outsiders are in awaiting the queen with your weapons at your sides. He is followed by a squad of warriors that quickly surround you and a commotion arises from the crowd. Before you can respond properly, however, a woman’s voice from the palace calls out to stop them. You look up to a balcony at the side of the palace where a black-furred, purple-skinned female maftet stands on the palace veranda wearing a circlet and the heavy gold necklace. The crowd quickly drops to their knees in obeisance as the female surveys the scene before her. She calls out to the golden-armored warrior, and then to you.
“Be welcome here, outlanders. You may keep your weapons if you will agree to hear me out. Rajet, take them to the meeting hall in the NorthEast Wing of the palace. I will meet with them there.”
The female maftet then turns and returns into the palace while the maftets surrounding you lower their weapons, and the golden-armored one growls surlily, and beckons you to follow him.
You are escorted to a set of well-appointed chambers where comfortable cushions and low seats have been arranged. The female maftet is already there with several attendants who bring to you golden trays laden with cups of cool honeyed nectar. The female maftet beckons you to sit as she speaks.

![]() |

Seeing all of the Maftets kneel Rhon places a gauntletted fist across his chest. Rhon follows them to the well appointed chamber and takes one of the offered cups.
"Greetings your majesty. I am Rhon Delver. Myself and my companions are here as part of a mission from the Pathfinder Society."

![]() |

Exiel calls out Lauriel to translate for the group.
"Your majesty, we seek... a representation of the death of Baba Yaga, though the precise nature of this representation is unknown to us. Any aid you can grant us will be appreciated. I also could not help but hear you telling Rajet that your people are in need. Perhaps we could lend our assistance?"

![]() |

"I do not know of this Baba Yaga, but there our clan has legends of a tree on this island that hides the death of a powerful witch. I always thought it odd that it was so described, that a tree could hide a death... but that you would use such a turn of phrase leads me to think that I may know where you may find what you seek. But I must first ask your aid, for we are indeed beset. An army of skinless monstrosities with the torso of a man or woman atop the body of a horse, and who bring sickness with them.”
"It is my intention to attempt to deceive them. If you agree to help us, my plan is to pretend to let myself be sacrificed, but I would like you to ambush the creatures as they come to take me. If this is successful, their forces will be weakened when they inevitably follow up on their threats. Help us stand against them, and then we will show you where the tree of death is."

![]() |

Amsheagar does his duty of translating for his group. Speaking in Aklo, he also asks her if she knows the common tonge.
It would be wise of us to aid you in this. If we don't, it will only lead to more foes after us. What can you tell us of the area where you are suppose to be sacrifised? What kind of defenses are there and any good places to ambush the attackers from?

![]() |

"Do you perhaps have a map of the area you are planning to do this? It would make planning a bit easier."

![]() |

That was a long website outage. Once again, my apologies for the slow update. Work will continue to be rough for another couple of weeks. After that I should be back to posting daily.
"I thank you for agreeing to aid us. There is an old sacrificial rock by the waters near the base of the cliff where the golden city stands. Our foes have demanded that I be bound there for them to take away. If you can ambush them and defeat them, it should weaken their forces when they inevitably come in force to retaliate. If you agree, I will show have Rajet show you where the site is. But do not dally there. It would do us no good if they gain a clue about our plans. The sacrifice is to take place at daybreak."
The map has been updated to show where the sacrifice is to take place. You can discuss your plan, if you have one.

![]() |

All good, mate. Life happens.
"Do we know the hour when daybreak will occur? If we do, we can make sure that we have as many of our enhancement spells up as possible when the battle starts."
"There does not appear to be much by way of cover on that rock, but I could create an illusion of a large rock for us to hide within. That's about all I've got for plans. Do any of you have anything in mind?"

![]() |

Queen Esmyra give Exiel a quizzical look, as if he had said something strange.
"I expect they will come within the first hour of daybreak."
Exiel: You don't have a watch or clock to tell the time, but if you are there you will be able to see when daybreak occurs.

Amsheagar looks at the sky and remembers how long that they have been flying.
Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19 I know all about nature. Its wild and its circular.... with that roll, would I be able to find out how long we have before daybreak?
I am going to get some rest before daybreak. It will only take me an hour and ill be ready.
What roll do we need to determine what kind of beast will we be facing with that description? centaur?

![]() |

Amsheagar You know that it will be another 16 hours before daybreak. You have quite some time, including time to sleep and rest. Roll all your knowledges.

![]() |

Before getting too far into his trance, Amsheagar explains to the group, “We have about 16 hours before the day breaks. Time to prepare and get ready. If the beasts land on the ground, I will use a wide area attack that should suck them all down and end the fight quickly.“

From the description given to him, Amsheagar suspects that the creatures could be a species of evil aquatic fey known as nuckelavees. He recalls 2 interesting facts about them.
Amsheagar you get 2 questions

Amsheagar if its ok would you mind casting touch of the sea in the morning? you can borrow a pearl 1
Purs tries to remember about the fey.
Know Nature: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26

![]() |

I will take advice on which spells that you would want me to cast as a long term plan. Then I'll rest for an hour and regain my spells. as for the questions, First, what are their saves (high to low), second, what are their immunities.

![]() |

Amsheagar recalls that as fey nuckelavees have relatively weak constitutions but are fast and nimble. Their ties to the First World make them immune to disease and poison.
Purs can also ask 2 questions

![]() |

Looks like that's all you want to know. Is Rhon still with us? I will post an update once Rhon makes a post.

![]() |

Rhon is still here. I am back from Gen Con and finally feel rested again.
Rhon walks around the site looking for hiding spots and easy points that could be used to stage an ambush.
Perception: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (18) + 24 = 42

![]() |

Map has been updated.
Rhon realizes that although the sacrificial victim is intended to be chained to the stone pillars, the rock formation behind the pillars forms a naturally defensible position. If the chains on Queen Esmyra are long enough, she will be able stand within the curvature of the rock, drawing her would-be attackers deeper in while also making it easier to protect her.

![]() |

"Well, that seems straightforward then, we wait on the top of the rock and I put up my illusion, then once the creepy fey appear we jump in and take them out."
"Amsheagar, could you prepare a spell to keep the queen safe while we fight? A wall of stone or a spell to shape the stone around her to keep her safe? Alternatively I could use a dimension door spell to transport her to safety and then fly back in."

![]() |

"I'll work to contain any who can't be stopped by the spells cast." Rhon also spends a minute bringing Earl into this world and a huge Earth Elemental appears at his side.

![]() |

Amsheagar thinks about Exiel's request. “That is a good suggestion. However, with our first spell being used to protect her, it will extend the fight. I can change into a Bore Worm Monarch and go from the sacrifice location, burrow down and make a room for her safety. Come back up, change into my Elemental Earth form and hold her up. When the fighting starts, I could move, dropping her down 10 feet int the hole and still have plenty of time to get the drop onto the Fey.“
This is something I can do before the battle, so it would already be ready and we will have a trap ready.

![]() |

Amsheagar: "It leaves behind a 5-foot-diameter, smooth-sided tunnel coated in acid that deals 1d3 points of acid damage to creatures coming into contact with its surface."
Are you going to cast acid resistance on the queen?

![]() |

If we set it up now and have the tunnel ready, I could move into position as my earth self after 8-20 rounds. Depending on the hardness of the ground. This acid lasts a number of rounds equal to the hardness of material it burrowed through. rock has a hardness of 8 and Mithral has one of 20. 20 rounds is 2 minutes. Still a viaval option?

![]() |

Amsheagar: That will work.
You make your preparations for the battle. Amsheagar tunnels below the area where Queen Esmyra will stand, leaving a thin layer of earth that will only just barely support her weight while leaving a space for her to drop into once the battle commences. You are given comfortable quarters to rest for the night, though you notice that you are never quite allowed to be left completely unwatched by the maftet royal guard. You are roused just before daybreak and told that the time has arrived for the sacrifice.
You make your way to the rock, where Queen Esmyra is already waiting. She nods to you, then flies to the rock where two attendants clasp her wrist and ankles in long chains attached to the rock structure. She waits grimly as she watches your final preparations.
You do not know precisely when the enemies will arrive, but you can safely assume it will be within the next half hour. State your buffs and final preparations. We will begin the combat once I get a post from everyone!

![]() |

Usual buffs cast:
Mage Armor
Overland Flight
Threefold Aspect
Greater magic weapon (CL14) - extended
Exiel motions to his allies to join him on the top of the rock. Once they're all there, he casts an illusion of an extension of the rock over himself and his allies to hide conceal their location.
"And now... we wait."

![]() |

Amsheagar transforms into his Earth Elemental form, moves under the queen to support her and not let her drop into the hole prematurely.
I switch out the Eagle spell I used before the rest for Liveoak. Can we say I rested to restore the one spell slot I used to create the tunnel, or would you like to to call that a used spell for this fight?

![]() |

Rhon stands upon the rocky ground ready to protect the queen against her would be killers. Earl waits within the rock itself ready to defend Rhon as needed and support anyone else.

![]() |

We don't know when the foes will come... Touch of the sea will only last for 17 minutes.

![]() |

Aha, finally. I was not able to post earlier. Site was screwy.
You take up your positions and wait in the twilight. All is silent save for the lapping of the waves and the occasional jingle of chains on Queen Esmyra's manacles. As the sky begins to tinge with red, you notice a somewhat humanoid head peek out from the waves, then disappear. Moments later, four heads appear, and this time they are far closer. As they slowly emerge from the waves, you see four creatures out of a nightmare.
Soaked head to toe in gore, their humanoid torsos sprout from the backs of some equine form, and the gore on their bodies are a grisly vision of naked muscle and leaking veins. They advance on to the shore with wicked blades in their hands, their ill-intent evident.

Exiel and Earl hit their targets but their sword and fist fail to do their full damage. Amsheagar and Purs open with their fiery spells, but the nimble fey monstrosities manage to avoid much of the damage.
The nuckelavees snarl in anger at the realization that they have been ambushed. They fan out around you menacingly, their mouths hanging open as they let loose eerie howls from both their mouths. A withering foulness blasts forth from their open maws, washing over you and wracking your bodies with welts, cramps, and bleeding as your bodies wilt under their fell power.
Exiel, Rhon, Earl and Amsheagar each need to roll 4 reflex saves and fort saves against disease. Purs is fortunately far enough to avoid being caught in the area of effect.
Pathfinders are up if you survive. I'll reveal the damage and effects after your saves.
