Amsheagar |
Noted, don't fly that often.
Amsheagar sees the two Nuckelavees returning to the battle, but his attention is still on the one fighting Exiel. Wanting to remove him to have his ally get a little rest, Amsheagar moves back in and tries to pull out the Nuckelavees.
After returning to his previous location, Amsheagar drops the buy down the cliff and calls another bolt of lightning onto the water elemental.

Amsheagar picks up red and throws him over the edge, then strikes the water elemental with a lightning bolt. Rhon follows up with a barrage of swings that finally bring down the last water elemental.
Exiel and Purs turn to the 2 nuckelavees that have rejoined the battle and quickly finish them off with their spell barrage.
Blue and purple arrive at the ledge, but seeing that all their allies have been beaten, turn around and beat a hasty retreat.
With their shock-troop defeated, the invaders' forces fall into disarray whilst the maftet army rallies and redoubles their efforts at repelling the invaders. They drive the last of the invaders back into the sea, firing arrows and hurling javelins at their retreating backs.
The survivors spend a few moments combing the city to check for remaining enemies, but it soon becomes apparent that the victory is complete. In the distance, one of the maftet soldiers gives a loud cry of victory that is echoed and then spreads throughout the city.
The siege, it seems, is finally over.
The maftet commanders gather the remaining soldiers and civilians into the square where the dead are honored, and you are publicly thanked for your vital role in the defense of the city.
"We cannot thank you enough for the aid you have rendered us. We do not have much to give, but you will have our best hospitality, and when you are ready to depart, I will show you to the tree that you seek. It is the least I can do."
Pathfinders You have time to finally rest up and recover your resources.
Rhon the maftets have some clerics who can handle the repairs of your shield since it was not completely destroyed. Your shield will be fully repaired once their clerics have had time to regain their spells.
Exiel |
Exiel heaves a sigh of relief.
"Man, that reminded me a little of that battle on Triaxus, when we helped the Skyfire Mandate. Though that time we had the hut fighting alongside us, as opposed to us now fighting within the hut... Or at least I think we're inside the hut? Come to think of it, I'm not sure if we're in an extra-dimensional space within the hut or whether we're on another plane altogether. Man this place does my head in."
Once rested, Exiel re-casts his daily buffs and gathers his weapon.
"Alright, I'm good to go. Let's go get what we came for."
Silver Crusader Rhon Delver |
Rhon heaves a heavy sigh, drops his axe and shield, and slumps to a sitting position. After a brief respite on the stone he rises, gathers his stuff, and heads inside to get his shield repaired. While that is on going he takes time to rest and recuperate.
"I have no idea either but no matter. Whatever way it is we will accomplish our task. I do wonder what else we might yet face on this journey." Rhon looks around at his companions and the Maftets.
GM Aram Zey |
The maftets ply you with their best food and care for your equipment as best they can, and even begin commissioning statues to be erected in the courtyard in your honor. You are also presented with a small chest of the most precious gems and jewels from the royal treasury - the queen rightly presumes that you are travelers and takes it upon herself to ensure that your reward is as portable as they can provide.
The following day, once you are ready to proceed, the queen and a retinue of her guards personally lead and carry you to the place that they call "The Witch's Grave". It appears to be no more than a gnarled old oak that stand in the midst of the forest, slumped over a small depression in the earth, that upon closer inspection, seems to form the sunken outline of an old grave. The maftets point it out to you, but do not approach it, instead wishing you well and uttering prayers for your safety before departing sadly.

Exiel |
Exiel casts his usual buffs in the morning (threefold aspect, overland flight, greater magic weapon on rapier and mage armour) , and as they prepare to explore the forest, he casts heroism and barkskin as well.
"Checking for magic seems like a good idea. I guess I'll go check that tree and see what's up with it."
Exiel keeps 15ft elevation and flies within 60ft of the tree to cast detect magic.
Amsheagar |
As the group walks into the first forest Amsheagar has had the privilege to be on this island, He walks over to a tree and starts to cast Liveoak and the tree becomes a Treant after a short break.
It always helps to be cautious. he says.
GM Aram Zey |
I will assume that Exiel waits for Amsheagar to finish his spell before investigating the tree.
As Exiel casts his spell to check the tree for magic, he suddenly finds his spell unnecessary as the tree begins to move of its own accord. The tree is big, larger even than Amsheagar's treant, and seems to move a little more quickly too as it moves towards your party, its massive limbs swinging menacingly.

It roars in triumph, having proven itself to be the alpha-tree of the forest.
