Stealth is an option, but I think we are probably better at a front on attack. Trog sorcerer can support with magic and crossbow from range.

"I think we should use our magics to enhance our power then hit the enemy hard and fast before they have a chance to prepare or react."
Valasca is for the smash frontal assault plan...

"Yes Valasca is wise, we should do that.. smash that is.." Korvak says enthusiastically
Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)
OK, seems you guys mostly want a frontal assault, but Lillie might like a bit of sneaky stuff. You guys could send Lillie to climb the cliff and go conk the guard on the stairs on the back of the head, that would allow everyone to get what they would like, and avoid a messy fight on the stairs. Then you can start your frontal assault from the top of the stairs.
"The stairs are a choke point. If we just charge up them, we'll be trapped. They can bottleneck us and we'll only be able to have one warrior fighting at a time - two if Valasca grows, but we'll still be at the disadvantage. Lillie can climb the cliff, then take out the guard at the top of the stairs. Then, everyone moves up the stairs and we rush them from there. I'll provide magical support from the rear."
Take out the guard, climb the stairs, then rush the rest.

Korvak nods in agreement
"Yes." while looking at Lillie with hope

Lillie nods in agreement "sounds like a plan"

OK, Lillie, go ahead and tell me what you want to do. Please also mark the place on the map where you want to climb, maybe by moving your token to the foot of your climb. Please let me know if you are using anything, and what your little pet spider does.
my plan is to circle around (counterclockwise) and climb were the trees give me cover. I would carry my spider like a backpack, to defend me if someone tries to go into melee with me
Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)
Ok, I put you at about where you described. Go ahead and give me the following rolls: 1 climb and 3 stealth. You may take 10 if you choose.
Female Lizardwoman NG Medium Female Lizardfolk 7th level cleric of Gozreh/1st level Skald
Valscala will cast her longer buffs while waiting mainly bullstrength and barkskin which are 10 min per level.

Taking 10's she'd have a 27 climb and 3 22s for Stealth
hoping the player is okay
stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
with a +2 if the Terain counts as forest. taking 10 on Climb, I'm fine, just a bit much to do with university and Christmas stuff
Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)
Lillie climbs up and sneaks over to the top of the stairs. She finds the hobgoblin there napping.
Lillie looks for any guards or other hobs that are awake.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28+2 vs goblinoids
Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)
You see some, but they are far enough away and paying enough attention to things in other directions that if you are quick and quiet, you don't think you will draw their attention.
Lillie sneaks closer to the tent, intending to peek inside.
Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)
Lillie sees a big ugly bugbear inside the tent, apparently taking a rest from torturing an elf.
Female Lizardwoman NG Medium Female Lizardfolk 7th level cleric of Gozreh/1st level Skald
Lillie, can you coup de grace the sentires and signal the party so we can continue?
My plan was to coup the sleepers and signal by shooting some of my special arrows at the lookout
I think the lookout might be sleeping.
Lillie continues sneaking towards the sleeping guards, intend on ending their life.
if the lookout os sleeping start with him, give visual signal and continoe with the others ,coup de grace with bow, if any should survive spider will attack
Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)
Lillie, the only one you know is sleeping is the guard at the top of the lookout tower. The bugbear in the tent is not asleep, only resting. Most of the others in the camp are simply busy with their own activities. There are a few hobgoblins that may be sleeping in the tent with all the beds.
Female Lizardwoman NG Medium Female Lizardfolk 7th level cleric of Gozreh/1st level Skald
Maybe if that guard is taken down quietly we can bum rush the group and possibly get a surprise round off with the bonus of our archer having a high ground guard tower?
Lillie sneaks carefully towards the lookout intend to end his life with an arrow to the head from close range.
Female Lizardwoman NG Medium Female Lizardfolk 7th level cleric of Gozreh/1st level Skald
I believe you still have to roll damage on a coup-de-grace auto hits and auto crits even with a bow. You also get any SA but as a ranger I believe that point is moot.
Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)
damage(4×(longbow +point blank +favoured Enemy): 4d8 + 12 + 4 + 8 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 7) + 12 + 4 + 8 = 46

The hobgoblin who was guarding the tower is no more. No one else seems to have noticed what happened.
Female Lizardwoman NG Medium Female Lizardfolk 7th level cleric of Gozreh/1st level Skald
Valasca paces around like an agitated wolf, there's a clear and angry determination in her eyes.
"Come one Lillie fire the signal" she mutters.
her eyes sweep over the Trogs and specifically the one with her.
"You. Be ready we attack soon.
"Patience. The signal will come - and when it does, the Ironfang will be massacred." Arcavic sits cross-legged, focused on the task at hand, preparing to move forward and levitate into that guard post, from which he should be able to see and control the entire battlefield.
Female Lizardwoman NG Medium Female Lizardfolk 7th level cleric of Gozreh/1st level Skald
Valasca glares over at Arcavic and sneers her fangs for a brief moment before remembering the Trogs.
"Yes, boss, we shall wait."
When this is over Arcavic might need a reminder that he is not in charge and why drow don't invade the swamps.
assuming the big Green thing in the middle of the map is a tree
Lillie sneaks towards the big tree, picks a hobgoblin that should be visible to her allies, selects an slow burn arrow from her quiver and shoots it at said hob.
hit: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 11 + 2 = 14
damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11
well that didn't work, next action whistling arrow

Korvak is ready and twitching... he keeps doing small stretches and limbering movements for when the time comes.
Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)
The hobgoblin on the watch tower is clearly dead, and the second hobgoblin targeted yells as Lillie's arrow slams into him.
Female Lizardwoman NG Medium Female Lizardfolk 7th level cleric of Gozreh/1st level Skald
"Good enough, with me Trog"
Valasca runs in full move, will do a perception to look for traps along the way.
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35 (that might need adjusting for movement also what a waste of a 20!)
Edit: cannot enlarge on staircase
Arcavic runs toward the guard tower with the now dead guard and levitates up into it so he can see the entire plateau. He sends his other Trog with Valasca to accompany her.
EDIT: Gave my trog a blue border.

Lillie takes aim at the nearest standing hobgoblin and shoots two arrows in rapid succession.
attack rapidshot: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 11 - 2 + 2 = 29
damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7

Lillie's arrow takes down a second hobgoblin.
The hobgoblins and bugbear in the tent full of beds looks still asleep. The creatures around the fire are looking around for what killed their comrade. The other creatures do not yet seem to know what is going on.
One more round of actions for all of you before I roll initiative. Your trogs may also act.
Female Lizardwoman NG Medium Female Lizardfolk 7th level cleric of Gozreh/1st level Skald

Caster trog will cast grease outside a tent if it has the range if not it moves closer
Korvak will use dragon style and then move up to the bugbear in the tent as he doesn't quite have the move to attack
Female Lizardwoman NG Medium Female Lizardfolk 7th level cleric of Gozreh/1st level Skald
moved Lillies trog up figuring he'd probably have run up with the rest last round as he cannot climb after lillie
Looking at the group around the fire, Arcavic casts a spell and creates a burst of glitter on some hobgoblins near the fire, looking to blind them.
Casting glitterdust. I marked the area with a green square on the map to hit those two hobgoblins. DC 16 Will save or they are blinded - and either way they're sparkly.
Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)
Valasca, I can't tell who you're attacking. If it's the 'lying down' hobgoblin without a border, Lillie already got him. You may redo your action if you want.
