Korvak Sunsoul |
Korvak will move up to the leader and attempt to whack them over the head with a 2 handed quarterstaff
Quarterstaff 2H: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Quarterstaff 2H: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
If the distance is too far, he will charge, if he can, If not he will just move up to 10 ft away from the leader.
Irraadraank 'Ira' Dhernanil |
Flying Charge Longsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
AC currently 16
Spreading his wings, Ira hurls himself across the temple. The leathery membranes kicking up dust and splinters from the floor as he patently ignores the debris between him and the unfortunate hobgoblin archer. His sword comes down with all the style and finesse of a butcher hacking a pig carcass into manageable parts.
Arcavic Vytharia |
Arcavic looks at the hobgoblins and his companions in melee before stomping on the ground, hard. The ground beneath the hobgoblin leader suddenly shakes.
Tremor vs. CMD: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Standard action: Tremor (lvl 1 bloodline power). I make a trip attempt using my level + Charisma as my CMB. I have to be within 30 ft, so if I have to move to get there, I will. AC is 17 thanks to mage armor.
Valasca Fairscales |
Swift action Enlarge, using the spear once more stabbing at the fallen leader (prone is a -4 I think) from 15ft. Within reach of the follower if possible just in case he provokes by trying to fire that bow in range of the 15ft range.
attack damage: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 182d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 = 12
GM Redelia |
In the middle of the shrine is a sack of loot collected by the hobgoblins. It contains:
wand of magic missile (12 charges)
silver cup
carving of a butterfly
3 bottles of whiskey
gold dust
76 gp
a holy symbol to Erastil
You know that the holy symbol to Erastil belongs to the hunter Lirosa, who often hangs it in the shrine to 'recharge.'
In the alter is a hidden area that contains:
silver dust
aegis of recovery
wand of cure light wounds (21 charges)
The dead body at the entrance is the shrine's caretaker. The other 12 bodies are mostly townsfolk you recognize. The hobgoblins have already looted their bodies.
Those who are looking around notice that the caretaker's shack is nearby.
When you go to the shack, you find several townsfolk hiding. They are:
Rhyna, the shrine caretaker's assistant
2 warriors
1 adept
4 commoners
You also find 12 provision points.
Where next, guys? The Fine Shop or the Trading Post?
Korvak Sunsoul |
" Excellent idea Cnut, and that fine shop with the healer guy might be a great place to go next, he'll be really important for healing the injured folk we come across."
Valasca Fairscales |
"I'll grab this for now since I have only so many healing spells and bursts."
Valasca is tossing Ira as coquettish a look as a muscle-bound lizardwoman can manage.
Where do you think we should go next handsome? I'll follow where you lead.
She tries for a smile, it probably registers as a threatening show of teeth to any non reptiles
Valasca Fairscales |
Valasca then sets about muttering some words and gestures each with elements that appear to be respectful to the gods worshiped here:
-She mimics drawing a bow for Erastil.
-Splays her hands thumb to thumb to mime the flight of a butterfly with her hands for Desna.
-Uses a belt knife to draw a drop of blood from her thumb to swear retribution on the Iron Legion for her goddess Callistra.
-She then mimes sweeping with a brush three times.
figured I'd embellish some flavor for the decommission ceremony
Arcavic Vytharia |
Arcavic grabs the wand, tucking it into his robes with the other. "At least I am well prepared for combat - I should be able to conserve my rather limited spells as needed."
How many charges did the wand of magic missile that we got in the inn have?
He also grabs the gold dust and silver dust. "We'll have to determine how much of each is here when we are done. Let's keep moving."
Which is closer to the shrine, Oreld's Fine Shop, or the trading post?
Irraadraank 'Ira' Dhernanil |
Ira returned the reptilian smile, a touch perplexed. Though he did possess teeth that filled similar roles to those of mammalian humanoids, the ones exposed in his smile were notably predatory and clearly intended for the gripping and ripping of flesh. It was a good thing the adaptations his species had undergone for the sake of a wider range of vocalizations prevented him from easily using his bite offensively.
"I vote for Oreld's. The goods there are too valuable to let sit for too long."
GM Redelia |
How many charges did the wand of magic missile that we got in the inn have?Which is closer to the shrine, Oreld's Fine Shop, or the trading post?
The magic missile wand had 11 charges. You may assume the buildings are an equal distance away.
Tomorrow I will make a loot list for you guys so stuff doesn't get lost. I planned to do it today, but the website being down for so much of the day messed that up. Then we'll move on to the shop.
GM Redelia |
You feel a wave of warmth as Valasca finishes her ceremony. Evidently, one of the deities worshipped hear notices the respect. You have +1 to attacks (morale bonus) and 3 temporary hit points for 6 hours. You may assume that this lasts until you are over the bridge.
Oreld’s Fine Shop—labeled with a small shingle hanging out
front—is one of the few buildings in town made entirely of
stone. Mortared white blocks form the walls of this oddshaped
cottage. Scorch marks that shift in color from black to
dark blue to glimmering violet mar one wall. The door to the
shop stands open and bloody footprints lead inside.
Owned by three generations of healers and herbalists
in the Oreld family, Oreld’s Fine Shop supplies Phaendar
with remedies, dye, glue, and paint. The shop’s owner,
Vane Oreld is also the closest thing Phaendar has to a doctor. Oreld is a middleaged Taldan with light brown skin, amber
eyes, dark brown hair, and a neatly trimmed
goatee. He wears a shirt whose cuffs are
stained with unknown substances and
breeches under a thick leather apron.
When you walk into the shop, you see a desk, a few crowded shelves,
and a cluttered window display, all of which have been
ransacked by invaders. A single hobgoblin in a bandolier rifles
through the shelves for anything valuable, and holds a
chain connected to an iron collar around Oreld’s neck. Oreld is obviously badly hurt.
The hobgoblin has not seen you, do you want to do anything other than start battle?
Irraadraank 'Ira' Dhernanil |
Going to go ahead and study the hobgoblin and proceed to move in under stealth.
Ira holds up a hand to slow the others when it become obvious the hobgoblin in the shop has yet to notice them. Moving quietly, he steps around the broken glass and debris on the floor as he stalks in closer to his new target.
Lillie Blackwood |
Lillie sneaks into a better position so she can shoot without problems when the others charge the hobgoblin.
Once she is in position she readies an arrow and nods to signal she is ready.
stealth vs hobgoblin: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 2 = 22
once everyone is ready/combat starts
attack vs hobgoblin(within 30ft : 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 12
damage vs hobgoblin: 1d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 2 = 9
Valasca Fairscales |
Wanting to impress Ira Valasca tries very hard to be stealthy but being completely untrained and less then naturally stealthy...
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 [ooc]wow OK apparently she's REALLY motivated by the reptillian male.[/dice]
Valasca stalks mimicking Ira's stealthy movements successfully, once at a proper distance she grips her spear and waits for Ira's movement or for the hob to react the moment someone moves suddenly her spear snakes forward rapidly.
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Irraadraank 'Ira' Dhernanil |
I'll go ahead and post my next action since the GM has not had the hobgoblin react in any way.
Disarm/Steal primary weapon (Whichever applies): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Ira stalks up behind the looting hobgoblin and spares a glance at the miserable form of Oreld. He presses a finger to scaly lips. Almost casually, Ira grabs the butt of the hobgoblin's longsword and gives it a tug.
GM Redelia |
Hey guys, I've been working on setting up maps and things today. It seems like every time I sit down to do a major post for you, the website gets flaky again. Paizo.com allowing, we'll get this combat going tonight. I also remember that you guys need a loot list.
GM Redelia |
Ira pulls a heavy mace out of the hobgoblin's hand.
Cnut init: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Lillie init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Arcavik init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Valeska init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Korvak init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Ira init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
enemy init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
The entire party goes before the enemy. Oreld is clearly badly hurt.
GM Redelia |
Actions prepared for the start of combat can be taken as your first action in combat, if you want. In this sort of unusual 'surprise round' I allow buffing and prep work, and one hostile action (from only one PC). That hostile action happens, then initiative starts. Valasca can assume that she positioned herself for attack before Ira acted, but her actual attack happens on her turn in initiative. The same for Lillie. Unless Valasca and Lillie post otherwise, I'll use their attacks as their first round actions. I just need actions from Ira and Cnut for the first round.
Irraadraank 'Ira' Dhernanil |
Ira tosses the mace aside and...
If the hob still stands
Intimidation: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
"You might want to consider giving up," he growls, the hobgoblin was outnumbered, unarmed, and wounded now. His odds were not looking good.
Valasca Fairscales |
Is he really offering this a!$!~~& a chance to surrender and alert his friends? I guess they can't be pretty and smart. He looks good from behind, focus on those shoulders.
(free action to speak) clears through in that bad bluff uncomfortable wayAhem...Yes, surrender! Don't even think of calling out to your friends or I'll ram this spear into your throat!
GM Redelia |
Lillie's arrow flies over the hobgoblin's head. Valasca's spear strikes him, as does Korvaks's punch. Cnut's attack passes to the side of the hobgoblin.
will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Arcavic's spell has no effect on the hobgoblin. The hobgoblin does appear to be a bit spooked by Ira's threat.
The hobgoblin looks around and sees there's no way to get away, so he begins preparing a bomb.
Ira, you get an attack of oportunity if you want it. Then I'll resolve his attack.
