Oro-Tu |

Oro-Tu gapes at the brutality he witnessed, and his failure as protector to keep the others alive.

Beth Macara |

Beth opens her eyes and instantly wishes she hadn't as the beast dismembers Aurora. From her position, she sees the untriggered beartraps and remembers her encounter with the vampire spawns.
Quick question: is the creature a huge ogrillon as you said or a huge girallon as the creatures we met by the lake.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
knowledge religion: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
From what we know: the boat with the vampire swarms, the way the creature took us by surprise without trigering the traps, Beth thinks it is a vampire. I don't want to metagame that one too much, but with her general knowledge on religion and this rolls, can Beth know about mirrors and holy symbols vs vampires?
Last question, can we turn Traveller's any Tool into a mirror?

brvheart |

@Beth From your roll you would know this is also a vampire, but would not know much about them. It can form almost any tool, but that being said a mirror is not a tool. Nor would she know that it would have any effect on a vampire. And, FYI, it is one singular creature only. It also appears to be raging like Oro.

Beth Macara |

"Everybody, head back to the tunnels. That's a raging vampire and I don't have anything to strike her. If we go down, she shouldn't be able to pursue us there."
Beth will delay her action until every one has acted and left.

brvheart |

Ivar misses and will take an AOO going in
slam: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (6) + 19 = 25 damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

brvheart |

You are correct on the once per round, but not on crits
If an attack that includes an energy drain scores a critical hit, it bestows twice the listed number of negative levels.

Beth Macara |

You are correct on the once per round, but not on crits
Quote:If an attack that includes an energy drain scores a critical hit, it bestows twice the listed number of negative levels. Unless otherwise specified in the creature’s description, a draining creature gains 5 temporary hit points for each negative level it bestows on an opponent.
Thanks for the precision. This would mean Ivar should not get his two negative levels as Aurora already got some.

brvheart |

Correct, I edited as such. She does not gain the +5 either except in blood drain.

Oro-Tu |

Oro-Tu takes advantage of the opening, shouting, "Run!" as he grabs Aurora's body and hefts it over his shoulder. He takes off down the stairs.

brvheart |

I hate to say this Oro_Tu, but she has combat reflexes and you have to provoke to get to her:
slam: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (1) + 19 = 20 damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
But she misses rolling a nat 1.

brvheart |

You hear the echos of beasts howling across the lake from the other side in homage to their queen.

Oro-Tu |

Oro-Tu makes a face at their sounds of victory, but promises himself the beast will die next time.
I think we are running towards the mummy tombs to get away, correct me guys if I am wrong. By the way if Aurora was actually dismembered will grab the other pieces at the same time if it matters, lol
Uraisia did you not choose traits? If not you should totally take that Davy Jones locker one lol

Oro-Tu |

The one Aurora has that lets you make a heal check the round after someone dies to bring them back to life lol. It's from the 101 pirate traits that the DM uses by FGG

brvheart |

Went over Aurora's sheet now that she is home. She has a necklace of garlic which would have warded against the bite attack so she is still dead, just a little less dead at -24.

brvheart |

Ok, we can't keep waiting on Leialoha here.
Leialoha prone rolls 5' away and casts empowered fireball.
empowered fireball: 10d8 ⇒ (7, 8, 4, 8, 3, 2, 7, 1, 1, 8) = 49 49x1.5+4=77 DC 21
reflex: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17

brvheart |

Uraisa, Silas and Beth are up. Remember you are prone. The Queen looks badly burned.

Oro-Tu |

Wow nice fireball. I thought we were heading to ground or I would have not ran until next turn...

brvheart |

didn't Uraisa turn into an eagle and fly off, or was that just fluff and she hasn't used her 'turn' yet?
She is an eagle, but has yet to fly off so I guess her actions are done.
Uraisa yells as she changes into an eagle, preparing to fly away when the others begin their retreat.

brvheart |

@Beth, you do not have a mirror but you do have your faith and a holy symbol.

Beth Macara |

Beth stands up and steps from behind the post to be in full view of the monster. Her hand shoots forwards, holding in front of her the wooden symbol carved onto a sea king seated on a giant clam shell throne.
"BEGONE FOUL BEAST. FEAR THE WRATH OF MY MASTER. FOR HE IS THE MASTER OF ALL WATER THAT SURROUND YOU. AND YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE HIM."

Silas Frey |

Just home so not able to look at the map. If I can I'll sing, grab another fireball from Leiahola and let blast. If not I'll figure something when I get to work in the morning.

brvheart |

Leialoha has a regular fireball left and the closest person is 10' away from the Queen. You are right next to Leialoha, too!

Silas Frey |

Silas rouses himself with all the noise happening. He sees a flash of fire and sees the Pale Queen. He starts to sing quickly, touches Leiahola and then lets fly with the last fireball he can appropriate.
Fireball: 8d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 6, 3, 2, 4, 5) = 33
Reflex for half DC 18

Aurora Shadowbane |

thanks everyone for caring about me, its unfortunate that aurora died, but it does add to the story of her life, her past was plagued by vampires and intelligent undead and now it comes back to revisit her, she will want to come back to seek vengeance on the beast if you guys can manage to spirit her away to be raised. I still have that scroll of heal on me for anyone that needs it, most neg levels and such, disease. I do hope you found all my arms and legs, no fun having to use prosthetics. Did that once with a character, sucked.

Oro-Tu |

I wish I wasn't told we were going to run, or I would have full attacked it and tried to keep it hitting me for one more round instead of someone else. DM can I redo my actions since its still the same round? or at the very least instead of moving far away just pick up aurora (move action), 5ft step away, and use total defense action?

brvheart |

Reduced to below 0, the Queen turns gaseous form and starts to move away. XP=3200 each.

Oro-Tu |

Well then... does fireball affect gaseous form? Maybe one of you knows how to kill it permanently?

Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
It killed her, I owe her a debt, we'll get off of the damn island, and when she is hale and whole again we will come back and finish that monster Ivar can do nothing but stand and watch the stinking, burning, smoking husk that was the 'queen' turn to smoke and dissipate with the wind. Setting his axe and shield down he begins to gingerly gather the separate torn parts of his friend, motioning to Oro-Tu to bring the leg that he had grabbed in his attempt to rescue the body for resurrection. Kneeling down gathering arms and torso he calls out to the captain. "Captain give me a bag or I swear I will dump all the gold and use one of those."

Oro-Tu |

Considering how impossible it is to just go to town and then return, I think it would be best to gentle repose Auroras body and finish here before we leave and the volcano blows.

brvheart |

The subject and all its gear become insubstantial, misty, and translucent. Its material armor (including natural armor) becomes worthless, though its size, Dexterity, deflection bonuses, and armor bonuses from force effects still apply. The subject gains damage reduction 10/magic and becomes immune to poison and critical hits.

Leialoha |

Leialoha shares what he knows, stabs himself with his fetish, and sends another fireball flying, aiming it to catch the mist and none of his allies.
Spell Blood (nonlethal): 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3) = 7
Concentration DC 13: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
Fire damage: 10d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 5, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6) + 4 = 50 DC 21 Reflex for 1/2 damage
Does Leialoha know based on his knowledge roll whether we can permanently kill the creature this way.

brvheart |

reflex: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31
The mist disappears in a ball of fire. Yes, it is dead and not coming back.

Oro-Tu |

Oro-Tu laughs a short barking sound, clapping Leialoha on his back. Let us get below ground and finish resting there."
Considering the journeyduration if anyone can cast gentle repose to keep Aurora from rotting, that would be good.
