"Magical weapons. It is better than what some of us currently wield."
Tamora picks up the scimitar and moves away from the party before swinging it.
"Who would have thought that I would be only disciple that have not wielded the iconic weapon of my goddess? I was thinking of buying one until this falls onto my lap. I will be holding onto this if no one minds."
Kyzen
Kyzen turning to the group... "Hey , I here some noise from further in the corridor!" Kyzen call out much louder this time into the corridor... "HELLO, ANYONE THERE!"
Tamora
Tamora takes the remaining sword and armor and places them onto Hoga's hand.
"Hoga, hold this for us until a later date, will you? I am afraid distribution will have to wait now that we have an affair to take care of."
The inquisitor arms herself with her bow and waits for the response to Kyzen's yell.
Kakrish Stonetoe
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Kakrish holds his hand up to shield his eyes and tries staring down the lit corridor. "Are you sure there's someone there? I can't see anything. And I don't hear anything either." When he sees Tamora ready her bow he decides to follow suit. He holds his greatsword in front, ready to attack.
Kakrish Stonetoe
Kakrish turns back to the group with a quizzical look on his face. "Did you hear that? There's someone back there." He turns back to the light. "We are here to rescue you!" he shouts towards the voice. "How can we do so?"
Kyzen
"What in hell is that light about, it's too bright to be natural" Kyzen put his hand over is eyes trying to lower the intensity... "Can someone try to identify if it's magical and how we can get ride of it" Kyzen talking back at the person/creature down the corridor... "Give us a minute to figure out about this light and how we can get to you. What is your name?"
Kyzen tries to identify the possible distance from him to the voice, with is estimation and if the map is strait forward, it shouldn't be more that 40-50 feet, but he wants to be sure...
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Kyras Darksoul
We are most certainly not with working for the awful wizard and we have discovered enough to know he indeed was awful. Kyras responds. Where are you exactly? Oh, and I do not mean to be rude but what are you too? We just encountered a devil that the wizard was also holding prisoner.
Rannik
"You need to get rid of the light, then you can come and unlock the gate." Kyzen tries to look to see how deep the corridors goes, but the light is so strong that is as if he was staring at the sun. Looking at it for more than a few seconds hurts the eyes, walking through it would probably turn someone blind, even with their eyes closed.
"My name is Maffei, and I can swear to you that I am not a devil. My people are called Shae. We are native from another plane." After a pause she speaks again. "And who and what are you? I've heard three voices so far."
Kyzen
Kyzen was trying to gage the distance by sound, not sight....
Kyras Darksoul
Just what a Devil would say! Kyras says, but punctuates it with a laugh. Do not worry my new friend Maffei. We will get you out of there and release you. Your captor is dead, but not at our hands. We were hired to explore his manner house, catalog its furnishings, and deal with traps and such things as the devil we send back to hell. I am Kyras, and my heritage is a mixture of human and elven. He studies the problem for a few moments. Can anyone create darkness? He tries holding up his bedroll and approaching whatever is the source.
Rannik
@Kyzen. It is hard to correctly evaluate by sound, since the voice is traveling along a bare stone corridor. The echoes create some distortion. But you think it is somewhere in the 40 to 60 feet.
"He is dead? Good, I can't say that I'm sad." There is a pause then she speaks again. "You said that you are cataloguing what is in here? Did you also find the cave where he hid some of his stuff? He told me that he hid a bag of magical dust that could remove the light, if only momentarily."
Kyzen
Kyzen speaking to Maffei... "No we don't know anything about a cave. But from what I can observe, the corridor seems to be strait and you should be at the end of it at about 40-60 feet, I'm I correct?" Speaking back at the group... "If I'm correct and the inside wall isn't bigger than what we see here, we should be able to simply make a hole in the wall, juste about there" Kyzen points at the inside corridor wall at about 10 feet going from the door...
See arrow on map...
Kyras Darksoul
No. No we did not find such a cave. Do you know where it is.
Did we find a cave?
Kyras Darksoul
The forest? Then we need to continue the search before we can release you I guess. Can we throw you any food or water?
GM Rannik, you never responded to Kyras' attempt to hold up his bed roll to block the light. Basically if he wraps the bedroll around his head can he walk down the passage?
Tamora
"Are you dead set on continuing like that? You ought come back before you are unable to return."
Tamora uses her detect alignments and magic spells.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Kyras Darksoul
While effectively blind Kyras is undaunted. I might not be able to help our new friend like this but since we have no idea where this cave is I thing I aught to try. Here, tie a line to my waist and pull me back if you hear trouble.
Maffei, are you in a summoning circle or behind bars? Or is it only the light that prevents you from coming to us? Is there room where you are for me.
Kyzen
While grabbing the rope that Kyras hands him... "So I guess the <<making a hole in the wall>> option is out..."
Kyzen
@GM... I know, the comment was from Kyzen to the others... Since no one replied about his suggestion, he feels like he was ignored... Hahaha!
Kyras Darksoul
The entire wall is glowing I think. Its like a wall of fire that runs down the wall facing the other wall of the hall.
Kyras continues down the hall hoping to find a door he can unbar. I am coming. he says.
Rannik
Eventually, Kyras gets to a door. Just like a cell, the door is made of bars that barely let a hand squeeze through. Feeling his way around, Kyras is able to find the locking mechanism but it would next to impossible to pick that lock without using his eyes.
In the other room, Kyzen is still evaluating the wall to see where and how to make a hole to get to the other side. Some good digging tools might do the trick.
Kakrish Stonetoe
Kakrish frowns and stares down the bright hallway, keeping his eyes as shielded as he can, which means he can't see anything. "There has to be some way to get down this hallway. That voice said something about some dust but that's a long ways away. There must be something around here."
I'm a bit stumped...
Kyzen
Kyzen will go and look in all the rooms and storage he can find in the basement and try to find anything that could do the trick as for making a hole in the wall.
Kyras Darksoul
Kyras will try all the keys he has found so far. If those fail he explains We will not leave you down here longer than we have to. We will be back for you but must find some way of turning off this blasted light. Take my water skin and rations if they will give you any comfort. he offers.
Tamora
Tamora walks towards the door.
"Hoga or Kakrish. Either one of you come with me. I will need your strength."
Basically, will go back to the summoning room to get the small table and use it as a cover to block the light while we move to the end of the tunnel.
Rannik
Kakrish tries to see something down the hallway and can only feel the light burning his eyes. Tears roll down his cheeks as finally the pain become too much and forces the dwarf to move away. For a moment, all that Kakrish can see is a bright red colour. It eventually fades away and he is once again able to see. Though the experience did give him a small headache.
Kakrish Fort save: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 = 9
Kyzen leaves the room and heads back to the storage area near the stairs. Looking through the crates, he does find some tools, but not what would be needed to pierce a hole in a wall made out of stone. While he might have been a powerful caster, the previous owner was much of a handyman.
Kyras, now at the door tries to open it using the keys that he has. It is a complicated task when you can't see, but eventually he is pretty sure he tried them all. When he tries to give Maffei some of his rations and his waterskin, the Shae responds with kindness but refuses them. "My people have evolved beyond the need of such things, but I thank you for the thought."
Tamora and Hoga get a table and use it a giant tower shield. The plan seems to be working until the they get passed the first five feet. At this point, the light appears all around them as if it was projected from behind as well as in front. The overpowering light blinds them and they are forced to back out. They suffer the same fate as Kakrish, except that the blindness last longer.
Kyzen
Ok so I see 2 options: go to the city store and buy some tools to make a hole or go find the cave and the dust while leaving Maffei alone?
Kyzen
Scroll sounds good too (Oupsss forgot this option...), I just don't want to leave Maffei alone too long and since we don't even know where the cave is, it may take a while to find it, that is why I'm looking into other options
Kyras Darksoul
Kyras has already told the creature that we will be back for him. Lets finish this "mission", report back, and see where things lead. I suspect that we will eventually find this cave.
Kyzen
Ok so finding the cave it is...
Tamora
1 person marked this as a favorite.
As the party return to the anteroom, Tamora opens the window and opens the bird cage, releasing the malnourished birds to the wilds.
Kyzen
As Tamora let the bird fly free, a Huge eagle flyby and eat the birds in one fast swoop...Hahaha!!! I couldn't resist...
Tamora
Haha, no. *throws a very big fish into the the eagle's beak before it could eat the birds and make it choke* Fly away, my pretties. Muahahahaha.
Kyras Darksoul
Before Tamora releases the bird Kyras points out It might not be a local species and might not be able to survive here. Plus it is not our property to dispose of as we wish. I will also note that it was not mistreated so much as simply not cared for after the wizard's death. It is valuable and already appears in my ledger.
Tamora
Will reply tomorrow.
Tamora
Will have to delay Tamora's response til tommorow. Health issues.
Tamora
Tamora’s action is set regardless of advice or suggestion.
Tamora watches as the birds becoming dots in the skies and eyes narrowed as she gazes at Kyras with her hands on her hips.
"And I suppose it is right to let the town do away with them as they please and condemn them to a life of confinement? Cross them out or erase them from your ledger. They are not objects to be bartered away or show around for the sake of vanity. How heartless of you to think of them as such? They are living sentient creatures. They sleep, eat and breathe like us. But our deceased resident did not see it that way and treated them like his other belongings. This is outright animal abuse. It gives me more of a reason to free them. I do not tolerate such practice nor will allow it to escalate further. I will do what I must. Furthermore, they were forcibly removed from their rightful home and caged, forfeiting their basic rights. I know what it is like to lose something. It is something I would like to prevent from happening to anyone else. That is another reason why they deserved their freedom.”
She closes the bird cage while keeping eye contact with the alchemist.
"I do not regret what I did. I will not risk the birds falling into the hands of a potential cruel person or uncaring collector just to be abused again. Better them to spend their lives out there than in captivity. If the baroness does not like the way I do or respond to things then she will have to deal with it.”
The inquisitor moves to the kitchen to search for honey.
If she finds some...
Tamora moves upstairs and tries to tame the grizzly bear with honey.
If not...
Tamora hops to the door.
"Now why don’t we complete our objective so that we can reveal the identity of the mysterious captive behind the wall.”
