After a moment of dazed confusion Kyras shakes his head and responds Lets see. and opens the chest.
Inside the chest, Kyras find a real treasure for a wizard. He counts six spellbooks. At the bottom, there is also some notes and what look like a diary.
Somewhat oblivious to where the rest of the party might be, Kyras sits and begins to read through the notes and then the diary. After this, if he has not been disturbed he will thumb through the spellbook, wondering both what school the old wizard might have focused on, and if any of these spells might be transferable to his formulary.
"Hmm, just a few dusty tome filled with spells and oh my, a diary. I hope it provides some useful information about the mansion."
Tamora sits beside the Kyras and reads the diary with him.
While Hoga and Kyzen tries to engage in a conversation with the creature on the roof.............
Kyras and Tamora start going through the notes and the diary. It doesn't take long for Tamora to notice that the diary is protected by the same effect of the spellbook she found under the collapsing tower. As for the notes, most of the them are about astronomical observations. On one of the last page is a series of words. You see the words "Eox,” “Aucturn,” “Carcosa,” and “Dominion”. All have been crossed off except the last one.
Kyzen tries to coax the creature to talk with him. The small creature stands up and unfold leathery wings on its back. It then flies down to the chair of the telescope. It wave at the two to come closer and points at the eyepiece.
Kyzen tries to sense the creature's motives...
He also tries to take a look at the telescope from afar...
"Come Hoga this very friendly creature wants us to look at something with the telescope, must be very important!"
What could be so important? Hoga wonders.
He walks right up and looks into the eyepiece.
Kakrish dithers between staying with Tamora and Kyras in the Wizard's bedroom and following Hoga and Kyzen up the ladder. He walks to the base of the ladder, then reconsiders. "They aren't strong fighters, if something happens." He mumbles to himself and walks back to the bedroom. At the doorway he stops. "But there isn't any danger here. Maybe there is a problem up there. And I haven't got to fight anything lately." He turns and goes back to the ladder. He pauses again. "But Hoga is there. He can handle it." He turns once again to the bedroom but stops himself. "Ha! Forget it. I'm going up!"
He climbs the ladder just in time to hear Kyzen mention the invitation to look through the telescope. He ambles over to watch Hoga look through it. "What do you see?"
"A shame. These books are just like the ones in the tower."
Tamora untangle her legs and stands up.
"I think I am going to check on the boys."
The inquisitor climbs the ladder.
Kyzen and Hoga try to look through the eyepiece, but without sitting in the chair, they can't see whatever the small creature is pointing at. While they are looking at the telescope, Kakrish finishes climbing the ladder and joins them.
Kyzen believing the creature to be trustworthy, sits on the chair to take a better look into the eyepiece...
Not sure what the little guy's on about.
Tamora climbs the ladder just in time to see Kyzen sits in the telescope's chair. The fist thing that Kyzen notice when he sit is how uncomfortable the chair is. The second is the weird smell that manifested just as he sat down. Lastly, just as he is about to look through the eyepiece, he feels the hair on his arms rising. He quickly jumps out of the chair and avoid most of the electric blast. The small creature smile disappears from its face and replaced with anger. As it flies to a higher point on the telescope, it takes out what looks like a wand and point it at Kyzen.

"You ugly little thing, I trusted you. You will pay for this!"
Kyzen launches a mighty blast directly at the creature's face...
Kinetic Blast (Point-Blank + Elemental Overflow)
"I don't know what happened here but if this creature means harm, let's subdue it and ask its intention afterwards."
Tamora draws her bow, waiting to see the state of the creature that Kyzen attacked before she comes to a decision.
"Ha! Ugly creature." Karkrish moves to Kyzen. Looking at the flying creature he says, "You hurt my friend. You'll have to pay for that." Kakrish touches Kyzen on the shoulder and casts a healing spell on him.
Hoga is angry at the creature for deceiving them. Hearing Tamora's plea to subdue it, he hesitates.
He runs forward, drawing his dagger, and when he's almost underneath the thing, he readies himself to throw it if the familiar tries to attack again.
Kyzen's blast takes the creature by surprise and almost knock it out. Tamora uses her crossbow to finish off the creature, but the flying critter is tougher than it looks. Kakrish heals Kyzen as Hoga gets in position to throw a dagger. The creature starts shaking the wand and tapping on it. Getting even more frustrated. Eventually, spark start appearing on the wand, but just as you are thinking that he succeeded in activating it, the little guy is engulfed in a ball of blue lightning. It falls to the ground, charred and with smoke rising from its body.
Tamora watches as the flying creature is hoisted by its own petard.
"That's karma they say."
She frowns as she examines the creature's charred remains to recover the wand it holds and loot.
"If it was a living creature, I would have offer it Saranrae's compassion; mercy and a chance at redemption if it repented for its misdeed."
That's... unnatural!

Downstaits Kyras is caught up in his reading. He periodically consults with the raven on his shoulder. Hearing distracting noises from above he calls out Hey, you guys want to keep it down up there? I am working down here.
The creature only had the wand. The room is filled with stargazing gear. The precision of the craftsmanship is really good and the stuff would probably be really expensive. The only magical aura comes from the chair of the telescope that Kyzen tries earlier.
The Raven looks at the pages that Kyras is studying. "That's weird. Some of those pages are advanced astronomical equations and observation, and then other are simple diagrams that any beginner would be able to do." Looking closely, Kyras is able to discern what the Raven is talking about. While both pages are written by the same hand, some are way more advanced than others. Unless Hunclay was teaching to someone, why would he need to write this down?
"Magic from the chair, must be the trap. Not sur I want to try it again to see if it's still activated. Who can check it?" Kyzen looking around... "Where is Kyras???" Walking toward the stairs... "I'll go get him" Whispering loudly... "Must be caught up in his books again!"
Kyzen goes downstairs and ask Kyras to go check the trap on the roof and inventory the equipments...
Tamora checks the room with her detection spels, aiming the chair in particular. She also sees if there is anything worthwhile with her careful observation and hearing. (Perception (Take 20) -31)
"Hey Tam o'rama, this chair is magical. Bet I can figure it out faster than you." Kakrish spits on the palm of his hand and offers it to Tamora to 'shake on it'. Then he turns to the chair and starts to study it.
Hoga tries to help (aid).
Hmm. Makes no sense to me.
Tamora, not accepting the hand, smiles.
"I'll leave it to you then."
She tries to identify the wand.
Hoga will try to help Tamora, too.
The studying of the chair only reveals that it is enchanted with evocation magic that would release an electric shock to anyone sitting in the chair. As for the wand, Tamora identifies it as a wand of lightning bolt with four charges left. Once done with his studying of the papers that he found in the previous room, Kyras is able to join the group and catalogue the material in the observatory.
Ok so lets check the bedroom the usual way "Boting Kyras"...
"This lightning wand could be useful for the events to come. Let's keep in on hand and use it wisely."
Tamora sets the wand down.
The group head back to the bedroom. Kyras slowly inspects the room, trying to figure out if there is a trap. He is able to find one tied to the rug, but the complexity of it doesn't make any sense for him. From his best estimate, trying to disable would more than likely triggered it.
"This lightning wand could be useful for the events to come. Let's keep in on hand and use it wisely."
Tamora sets the wand down.
"Ah yes. The bedroom. My favorite place." Kakrish looks around. "This is the same place where you were imaging a growl sound, right Hoga?"
Oh, I heard it, all right...
Kakrish smirks and nods in a knowing way. He pats Hoga on the arm. "Yeah, I know. You keep telling yourself that."
