This is a campaign that I am wanting to start because I want to gain DMing experience before I make a fool of myself with a failed tabletop campaign, so I would like to get 6-10 experienced and good tempered players to help me start and test this created campaign.

Male Human Ranger-1

Dotting

In Dorter, Trade City]

Where at those adventurers?" The impatient merchant mutters, "I posted the dammed quest three days ago at every damned tavern in the area!"

He paces the floor impatiently...

when the door opens and a servant enters, "the brutes have arrived sir...they are waiting in the foyer..."

"send them in! Send them in!"

Male Human Rogue/1

More impatient than shy, a rather short and young human enters in from the foyer without saying a word. He seems to be wearing what appears to be some worn studded leather, a backpack, a short bow and a couple of sheathed weapons, a rapier and a dagger it appears. Blond hair and blue eyes peer out from under the hood of the cloak he draped over his small frame.

Once looking about the room, taking notice of his surroudings, he stands politely but silently while nervously (and impatiently) waiting for the these other strangers to make their entrance.

F Human Monk 1

Rina swaggers. That's the only word for it, really. She swaggers, hands on her hips and surveying her surroundings at those with her, a little hint of a smirk at the corner of her lips as if she sees something funny everywhere. She is wearing monk's robes, and no armor at all, though there is a tankard tied to her belt. She's barefoot, and her hands are dirty.

HP 12/12, AC 20

The Knight wasn't exactly wearing shining armor. It was well taken care of, but pretty beaten up. His shield was unadorned and his tabbard was bare of heraldry. He wasn't particularly tall or imposing. So far he'd been quiet and unassuming. The most that could really be said about him was that he was "nice". As far as knights went, he wasn't all that impressive.

Which might be why he was answering the merchant's advertisement.

Male Human Ranger-1

A skinny man standing 6 foot walks through the door and pauses almost like he is waiting for applause, the gentleman takes of his beaten up tricorn hat revealing his blonde hair and weather beaten skin. "Don't worry good sir, Chadwick "Sure shot" Nor'vell is here. That's right ladies and gentlemen you will be working with me." He does a quick bow, which gives the group a better look at his longbow which decorated with cravings of various sea serpents. With no grand replies Chadwick's face turns a little red and he quietly stands to the side.

F Human Monk 1

"Well ain't that just grand," Rina smirks at Chadwick, but then she laughs and grins. Her attention goes to the merchant, though.

Male Human Rogue/1

The short teenage boy chuckles a little to himself, seemingly enjoying the quick exchange between the stout Rina and the cocky longbowman. He takes a quick peek through the door, wondering who else might show up. He then steps back to the corner of the room, again keeping quietly to himself.

"I thought I said worthy adventurers" the rude merchant mutters... "it doesn't matter... I need you to clean out Ann ugly mess of goblinoids living near a area of land I recently purchased... They are living in around three caves if my trackers are to be believed... But anyway here" he signals his servant to unroll a scroll "is a map of that area and how to get there... Its very vague though....."

HP 12/12, AC 20

"Any idea how many?" the knight asks simply.

"of the creatures? I have no idea.... Enough to prevent the construction of my estate....that is true....otherwise I have no idea." The merchant says taking a large gulpof brandy... "it has caused me no end of stress!"

Male Human Rogue/1

Question for MotC: Did the ad we answered have any details (pay, loot rights, etc)? What did the ad tell us? I meant to ask this earlier. Also, is it just us 4 and you?

Ad had just a plea for "adventurers wanted"

F Human Monk 1

Rina cracks her knuckles and shrugs, "Goblins are easy enough, yeah?"

Male Human Rogue/1

"I don't know, if they were so easy then why does he need us?"

Male Human Ranger-1

"Glad I could a little joy to you madame." He gives Tina a slight bow. Then turns to the youth, "Why we are expendable my dear lad and he doesn't have to pay our grieving families if we die. But don't worry my dear boy the "sure shot" will keep you covered.'' With that comment he makes a slew of movements mimicking a bow being fired.

F Human Monk 1

Rina laughs at Chadwick again and winks at Naldoc. "We'll be fine. Goblins are stupid, so if you see one just yell 'shiny!' and wait till they turn around."

I will allow you to keep whatever treasure you find in the beasts caves but they stole an ornate walking stick from my lasttracker to go into the area, recover that and each of you shall be rewarded with riches" the merchant sniffs "and possibly soap as well....do you accept? "

HP 12/12, AC 20

"Define, 'riches.'"

Each of you shall get a set of four Jewels of varying color and a small stack of coins.... I would recommend you getting better armor with your share.... Better than you deserve anyway...." He says, muttering the final bit...." Accept or don't, but leave soon....and take your dirty boots with you"

The servant rerolls the map and puts it into a carrying case... "here"

HP 12/12, AC 20

"Nope." the knight says with a shrug. "You can kill your own goblins."

and he rises to walk out the door.

Wait.... My coffers are not endless....what do you believe is a fair price? " the merchant asks nervously...

HP 12/12, AC 20

"The price isn't the important part. You treat people like you are better than they are. There's no amount of money you could give me that's worth my self-respect. You want help? Start acting like you deserve to get it."

F Human Monk 1

Rina grins wider at Sir Kale. She likes him. In fact, she offers him a silently raised fist. Maybe for a fist bump? Maybe she's just waving a fist.

Male Human Ranger-1

Chadwick raises an eyebrow at the exchange and then blocks his mouth from Sir Kale then whispers loud enough for all to hear, You might want to start with showing him a little respect, especially if you want your nice stuff back with no damages. I'm fine with your comments cause I do need new armor and I tracked mud in on your rug. He ends it with a big grin.

I was hoping someone would stand up to the rude guy :) DM approved....but I'm headed to bed soon

The merchant's face grows angry.... He opens his mouth then shuts it and sighs... "please go on this quest for me..." He says calmly .....

HP 12/12, AC 20

"Alright." the knight says without looking back.

Outside, he unhitches his horse and waits to see which of the others were going to join him.

Before you leave the merchant calls out... "knight...what did you say your name was? "

The merchant leans forward, the heavy fabrics pushing against each other in folds

F Human Monk 1

Rina has trotted along, still smirking. Her feet are still bare and probably dirty, and she's easy going enough. She waves at Kale, "Can I hitch a ride?"

Male Human Ranger-1

Chadwick snatches the map, "I'll take that, and I'm Chadwick Nor'vell if you don't remember. Don't worry we will get your stick back" He gives the merchant a nod and hustled out hoping they take the cleaning bill out of his cut of the reward. Seeing the two others outside, and moves toward them.

HP 12/12, AC 20

"I didn't say." the knight says, ignoring the merchant.

Outside, he gives a small smile, and helps the young woman up onto his horse.

"Nice to meet you all. Kale, of Eastwall."

F Human Monk 1

"Rina." Rina says pleasantly enough. She scrambles up onto his horse easily enough. Her hands are dirty, knuckles bruised and split and palms calloused. "Nice ta meetcha!"

Male Human Ranger-1

Quite the scene there Kale, next time don't forget to ask for more money. Anyway what do you think the big deal about this stick is?

Male Human Rogue/1

"Hey guys, wait for me! Um, I don't have a horse though so, um, can we go a little slow or somethin'? Oh! How rude of me... By the way, I'm Naldoc, Naldoc Tisbane. Glad to meet you guys."

whenever your ready to start traveling toward the area where the estate is to be built, I am ready as well.

"I want to know all of their names before sundown..... Darius, go around and find all you can about these 'adventurers'" the merchant says to a short cloaked figure that steps through a secret door after the party leaves.

"as you command, merchant Sodel-to-Fes..."

HP 12/12, AC 20

If Kale notices Rina's rough hands, he doesn't say anything about it. He simply shakes hands with everyone and takes his horse's reins to walk down the street.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance, all. I have no business in town that would keep me from leaving immediately. The lady can ride. I will walk with the rest of you."

I'm ready to go when everyone else is.

Male Human Ranger-1

Chadwick puts back on his hat and adjusts his long coat before he takes out the map. "Okay, I am ready as well."

Male Human Rogue/1

Naldoc is quite impressed with his newfound party members. The knight has a quality of leadership about him while the monk and the ranger seem to have a certain air of confidence. Hopefully Naldoc will be able to learn a thing or two about adventuring from them all.

Naldoc adjusts one of the straps of his backpack as he walks along side the ranger, trying to peer at the map. "I'm ready, let's go! So, where exactly are we going, Chadwick?"

map wrote:

The map gives directions to a place 5-6 days travel on horseback, to the east, on the top of a hill nestled at the edge of a lake fed by a mountain..

F Human Monk 1

Rina seems mildly surprised that Kale isn't going to get on the horse too - she was just planning on hanging on the back. She seems a bit flustered of what to do with being a 'lady' in that sense and her face shows a smattering of emotion that she quickly decides to hide with her usual smirk. She's content to sit on the horse (astride the horse) her bare, dusty and worn feet hanging free of her robes. She rides like a sack of potatos, too. No fancy rider here!

Male Human Ranger-1

"We might to debate renting some horses if any of you are in a hurry? Since it's a mighty fine distance away from here or we could ask around and see if a caravans heading that way and make some money on the way."

Male Human Rogue/1

Naldoc peeks in his beltpouch. "Um, just how expensive are horses anyway? This is my first job, I'm not exactly wealthy neither."

HP 12/12, AC 20

"It depends on the horse. An healthy riding horse might go for seventy sovereigns. An old nag, maybe fifty. A well-bred charger can go as high as five hundred."

F Human Monk 1

Rina peeks in her own pouch as well, "Haven't got near enough for any of those things anyway," She mutters, maybe embarrassed.

Male Human Rogue/1

"So, you mean unless we can hitch a ride, we're walking?" Naldoc makes a mental note to himself that owning a horse might be a fine idea if he wants to go searching the world over for a certain person.

best get started then.....though I might suggest a wagon....that can be pulled behind the knight's horse.

Male Human Rogue/1

Perhaps the merchant might have some mode of transport we could use while doing his job?

I was going to have him charter a wagon, but you guys just walked out.....so...you can go grovel and plead....

Male Human Ranger-1

Realizing that he made a rookie mistake and forgot to the look at the map before he left. To save face with the group he looks down deviously at the Naldoc, "Wait! Mr. Tisbane weren't you negotiating with the merchant for some transport? Isn't that why you stayed behind?"
