Here's my submission. What positions are the two other players taking? Will flesh out a bit of a backstory if I know the char isn't already redundant. Using boon for extra feat.

Sovereign Court

well let see how good are my rolls first before going point buy but most likely will go point buy:

3d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 3) = 12
3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5) = 11
3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2) = 12
3d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4) = 11
3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4) = 11
3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4) = 11

yup point buy it is.

Man, everyone is rolling really badly.

They're average, mostly. Seem low because people rolling are used to 4d6 drop lowest.

I saw an article that 4d6 drop one works out to a 20 point buy on average while 3d6 on average returns a 5 point buy character.

In any case here is the crunch for Prof Anody Gearon. He is a bookish gear gnome more interested in academia than in his family's long standing project and left to become a respected Professor. His students call him Professor Nod but agree that he has a pleasing oratorical style and is a cheerful friendly fellow to boot. He grew tired of the books though and was in danger of starting to Bleach when his attention turned to Numeria. Fascinated he dove deep into his research and even tracked down Numerian refugees to interview them about the place and the technological wonders it contains. It took all of his considerable personal charm to convince these people to speak with him as they were understandably frightened of the totalitarian Technic League moving against them.

It is this research both social and academic and a surge of interest in his tinkering heritage that has allowed him to learn the Hallit and Androffan languages as well as become a budding Technologist himself.

It isn't enough for his growing obsession so he's made the trek into Numeria itself and only shortly after his arrival the Torch goes out!

Virtue: Amiable, generous, a good friend basically
Vice: Obsession with unearthing the secrets of Numeria
Boon: Extra Feat (Technologist)

Taking the campaign trait Numerian Archaelogist and using the boon on bonus feat Technologist.

Rest of the poorly formatted crunch:

Another thing Mister GM. I looks like a lot of us are putting Craft Mechanical in their build. Are you allowing Craft Mechanical? I ask because most GMs I've seen running this are not allowing it.

Think I'll go pointbuy but hey, you never know how lucky you can be!

3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6) = 12
3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2) = 9

Working up a Heavens Shaman (for the joker/divine slot), whose main spirit has brought her to Numeria learn more about the fallen ship from space. Probably using the boon for the Samsaran race.

Let's let the dice gods decide.

Firearms:
I would prefer that we keep them to blackpowder at character creation. Yes, you can find Numeria some very advanced gadgets, but they are kept with the technology union. Also most of those gadgets are OLD so even if you find a weapon it most likely has lost all charges long ago.
Also it is not easy to reload, so a lasgun user would be limited to one clip and it might take weeks or even longer to get a recharge.
And firearms are rare in numeria. That is true. But they are easier to mass produce, and with advanced technology knowledge easier to make improved cartridges and items like that. So making blackpowder is a hobby for many alchemists, it might be purer, the bullets smother.....
Craft Mechanical:
It is not discouraged.
But there should be a good reason how you got it. If you are a smith in Torch, it is fine, if you are a scholar, it is fine. You are a thief from osirion, just arrived, why do you have it?
If there is anything else, please ask.

Helikon,

can you tell us what the two reserved places are playing, so we can work around or work with those characters? thanks. RH

alright GM I shall just call my pistol a "relic of numeria", as for the boon could we simply have it as "infamy"? Basically Jacen Ordo is feared by a lot of people (Technic League in particular) but also respected, he after all killed a Technic League agent in broad daylight and threw his head into the town-square...

Well actually:

I read this part, but I took it more from Supernatural, when Sam had lost his soul and suddenly had no emotions.
Yep Androids have a soul of course, otherwise IMHO using divine magic would not work.

They just should refrain from cha based classes :)

Helikon, can you please tell us what kind of characters are being played by the two reserved slots.

Guy's got a point :)

They are not sure yet. Ithink one will play a fighter, one a divine. But the joker will go to the one application that touches me most. Be it that the idea is a pure jackpot, maybe I love his or her writing.

Joker?

Alanya the eidolon wrote:

Wildcard. Free spot. Lucky strike. Inspired post. Touching, well-written or otherwise dear-to-Helikon's-imagination character.

I think. ;)

5 people: One Martial, one Skilled, one arcane, one Divine, one Joker.
It goes to someone with a great idea, someone who can offer a backstory where I just say, WOW I want to see how this works out, someone who brings a character to live I always been a fan of. This will be a hard selection, I know but if someone gives me THAT spark, I will gladly reward it.

Imagine that joker being a huge effective tricky sort with the avatar of a jester.

Helikon wrote:

@Helikon, I no longer have a horse in this race, but if you are choosing 2 or 3 characters out of 4-5 where two other slots haven't decided what they are playing...it's going to make it a little messy for folks to nail down concepts. The last thing you want to do is get people making characters with classes whose roles are taken or have no-one making characters with classes that might be filled.

If I were you I'd junk the "role" stuff and just take the best characters based on...character. Pretty sure adventurers don't always band together based on who has what role covered. Of course, as players we do have that luxury. When all the slots are open and accounted for.

I understand you very well. But with the ACG many roles are double offered. A slayer is martial and skilled. The warpriest martial and divine... I will in the end pick those applications that touch me most.
I also want to offer a chance to bring your baby to the table. If you always wanted a fighter but the martial slot is gone away, this won´t mean you will stay in the rain.
Second: I do not know if all people who were given a ticket will apply in the end.
And last but not least. Applying with a pirate makes little sense, applying with a character with some technological background, like a gunslinger, an alchemist, a sorcerer with the ineventible bloodline makes more. But in the end, I want the player, not the class!

Indeed. Based upon your rigidly defined party roles my gunslinger is completely unwelcome (unless I somehow manage to get the joker spot).

Helikon wrote:

Heh, nice Supernatural reference!

Anyway, I think I will submit an Elvish Alchemist. I picture her as a little rude, and someone that gets a little...irritated with someone who bothers her with mundane issues. Had a history of breaking into ruins or crypts in Osiron, looking for ancient artifacts, before she moved to Numeria and became an apprentice under Khonnir, deciding to follow the classic ideology of "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic".

I'll very likely flesh this out into a full backstory, but thats the general gist as to how shes going. Shes pretty good at skills, such as Disable Device, Craft Alchemy and Mechanical, as well as Knowledge Arcana / Engineering / Dungeoneering / Nature, and I see her primarily as a ranged bomb thrower, only going into Melee if the situation really called for it.

Helikon, a quick question on archetypes, you said a character can use a boon to have a second legal archetype. If a character has two classes can he have an archetype in each class without using the boon? I have an idea I am developing but I will need the boon for the race. ;)

Interesting question. If you add another class it can have also ONE archetype.

Interesting!
While i have yet to actually read the handbook and i havent heard of the campaign before, i can do my homework to learn more!
I just recently discovered the Terra-cotta monk and thought it screamed out dwarf, combined with an old idea of a fighter/monk who fights with his hands like daggers, thrusting them into his opponets and wiggling his fingers as the blood flows. As such i have my idea!

I am going to create a dwarven terra-cotta monk with steel soul feat (and most likely boon being a feat) with Wisdom in the flesh trait grabbing disable device as a wis based skill and becoming a very good trap detector/disabler. At lvl 3 he will grab boar style as his fighting style has progressed further.

2 line backstory.
Stone was a dwarf shunned from his society, banished to live a life of solitude, or die alone. Taking to his new punishment he seeked solace in the earth where he has lived for a long time in solitude, time seemingly unending. On occasion venturing to the surface out of pure desperation for company and companionship. He seeks redemptipn for a great past sin.

Virtue: Kind heartedness. Stone knows well the pain of isolation and rejection and it has soffened him. As such, he is a kind dwarf willing to be the friend someone needs.
Vice: Isolation. Stone has spent a long time in isolation and can often seem ignorant of "current events" or social norms. He also has an air of "stir crazy" about him at times and an unwillingness to be alone.

Now i just got to find out and make sure this place HAS earth and stone XD

Now, onward! For SCIENCE!!!
EHEHEHEH!!!!

Wo Who, another question about starting out characters. When a character starts with a pistol, musket or blunderbuss, can the pistol or musket be double barreled or pepperbox or is it a simple single barreled weapon. The answer will not change the character per-say, only the gear.

Also, do you mind more than one entry from each person. I'm gunning for the joker but would also enjoy the fighter or support role using other character ideas.

Liberty's Edge

Wow..lots of interest in this AP. As you were talking about advanced firearms and such, I know my gnome has a pepperbox rifle as his Boon. Is this still ok, as he originally came from Arkenstar. If not, I can add a section in the background where the Technic league thug took the weapon and while recovering from his wounds Uran aquired an old musket which he has modified and repaired.
Just want to make my character fit what you are looking for. Thanks!

An advanced weapon is definitly worth a boon. Numeria is not advanced in firearm technology, but you could have a more refined metal weapon.

Here is the background.

Background:

Kimos Kousei is the product of a Tian father and Varisian mother. His father hailing from his distant homeland half way across the world. He made his way across the crown of the world and southward until he found himself in Daggermark. There he set up shop, dealing in exotic poisons and plants. It was during this time that he met his future wife, having paralyzed her as she had been sent to assassinate him. A free agent dealing in poisons did not sit well with the poisoner's guild, that he had refused and survived their repeated advances with lethal consequences finally raised their ire. So the assassins guild was sent to deal with the foreigner, a mid ranked assassin was sent to collect his life. Yet as others before found the short man was not to be trifled with and in a rare moment of mercy he chose not to kill his would be murderer. Yet professional pride or ego brought her back time and again, failing each time.

It was not long after that both grew fond of each other. More so then their own business. So they left Daggermark behind, traveling the rest of the river kingdoms. Making their way to a small town in Numeria called Torch. There they built a life and bore a son. Years later both would fall during a trip to Starfall. So was young Kimos left to the mercy of the world. Still his parents had raised no fool or weakling, driven to not only recover his parents for a proper burial but to learn of how they met their fate he left Torch. Later he would learn the truth of things, they were killed by the metal monsters that called Numeria home. More then that it had been controlled by a foul member of the Technic League. Breeding no small amount of hate in young Kimos he made his choice then and there. Both the machines and their wicked masters would be held accountable. With what gold his parents had left him, he abandoned Starfall and Numeria.

Years later Kimos returned a man and something more. Now bearing duel persona's, he was a carefree man with an easy smile and manner to most. Yet when he donned the garb and mask he was a ruthless killer of all that he hunted. Kimos secretly deals death to those he deems worthy of it, without regret or remorse. He suffers no wickedness and restrains himself so long as it takes to strike at the proper time.

Still a bit rough. ;)

Stats roll: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2) = 93d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6) = 123d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 3) = 103d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5) = 123d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 4) = 113d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6) = 12
Total point value: 6. Guess I'll be sticking with that 20 point buy.
Character submission will be in the next day or so.

Additionally, what is your policy on multiple submissions? At this point I've built and backstoried several potential characters for the Iron Gods AP (effectively one for each 'role') and I'd be quite happy playing any one of them.

Do we have any estimation for the deadline?

If I remember right, deadline is Sunday. Pretty sure it's in the first post. :)

Ah you're absolutely right, my apologies. I'm usually pretty good at remembering deadlines.

I'm looking at doing a fetchling (boon) oracle of dark tapestry. I'll have details up soon.

So here is the crunch for Joseph Bonkers submission. Still working on the fluff, but i might as well get this down now :)
I still got 1 feat and trait to spend bu i am unable to download the handbook to my tablet, so that has to wait till i get to the library tomorrow. Otherwise, crunch should be done (60gp is easy to spend >.>)

You know, one of these days ill actually get a character for the mad scientist, joseph Bonkers up :)
Wait... This is a technology world... Hmmm...

Edit. Whops. Wrong alias.
Second whops, we get 150 starting gold, not the classes 60 :)

One question before I finalize what I'm throwing together:

Is this kosher: Half Elf: Ancestral Arms-> Exotic Weapon Proficiency: Firearms? (Or even just Pistol? Not looking to start with a gun, but I have a character idea that would definitely rather use a gun as a backup weapon/first shot weapon before wading into melee.)

It's definitely a rule interpretation that varies wildly by table, so I figure I'll ask first. If not, might as well keep and find a use for Skill Focus.

Well, finally able to read up on some of the available information and i am quickly realizing that Stone is a complete mis-match for this campaign (almost as much as a stone in space) and that my other idea would be... Considerably better :)
Also, i got a really neat idea that i intend to try and flesh out :)
...Tomorrow...

Is it Kosher? Yes, maybe! But you will not find firearms at every corner. And for sure not in the beginning. If you are a gunslinger, or belong to an firearm using archetype, you start with a firearm, otherwise it will take a loooong time till you even see one.

Likely a sorcerer though bloodline is up in the air, Arcane category is a definite though. Crunch and fluff to come!

I made a mistake it should read Martial, Divine, Arcane, Skilled and Joker. All Gunslinger fall under the Martial field. But it is the fluff and then fun that wins the spot not if you are the only arcane.
