Opening the door...
This room is full to bursting with a motley collection of cots and other furniture cobbled from scraps of wood and cloth. The stench of rotting food is overpowering. Doors lead to the west and the north.
Most of the cots and other furniture has been turned over and made into a set of makeshift barricades as half a dozen goblins attempt to mount a final desperate defense.
The goblins are effectively behind a low wall, the ones at the wall have shortbows drawn.
Unsure of which direction the Pathfinders would come from though the Goblins are indeed surprised.
At first I was thinking of course they heard you coming, then I checked their stats...

Sabi hustles forward as best he can given the difficult terrain.
Out of curiosity, why is it difficult? Extra stone debris? Uneven floor? Seems like something people living here would fix...

Tico follows Sabi in his way.

Pirate GM |

Emerald Spire p24: Rubble: The tower around the Spire is one big ruin, with debris strewn across the floors. This is difficult terrain (Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook 193) but [REDACTED]'s goblins aren’t affected by it.
The goblins have learned to live with it rather than fix it. It did affect Clanky and the dogs although the dogs' movement was so fast it was hard to tell.

Nar uses the surprise round to move up.
I'm going to move into the square Valya is currently occupying when she moves.

posting from phone could someone kindly move my mini? Thanks :)
Valya nods her head and grins, then moves towards the goblins to position herself as close to the bows as she can get.

Nar's shot misses the yellow goblin.
Just to make life easier, the non-boss goblins here are all AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 14, hp 6.
Low Obstacles and Cover: A low obstacle (such as a wall no higher than half your height) provides cover, but only to creatures within 30 feet (6 squares) of it. The attacker can ignore the cover if he’s closer to the obstacle than his target.
The yellow goblin trusts the wall to protect him as he returns fire against Nar, but gets his arrow stuck in the ceiling as a small bit of dust falls onto Nar.
The Green goblin scrambles around the outside of the barrier and also shoots at Nar, almost hitting, clearly a much better shot than her companion.
Meanwhile the red goblin scrambles around and takes a bow shot at Sabi, but is even less accurate than the yellow one.

It does provide cover for melee since you're both equally distant from it, also the cover rules explicitly say so.
When making a melee attack against an adjacent target, your target has cover if any line from any corner of your square to the target’s square goes through a wall (including a low wall).

Gotcha. I just didn't understand based on the description (and the orange goblin's attack roll) how you were ruling.
The attacker can ignore the cover if he’s closer to the obstacle than his target.
So my attack was 4+0-4 == 0 (instead of 4) A combat master, that's me.
There was no helping that roll anyway!Sabi shouts words of encouragement to his teammates. He's heard bards are good enough that it their encouragement actually aids their companions.
He's not so lucky. Instead, he just ends up inhaling dust from the debris and coughs.
