Emerald Spire - PFS "Campaign Style"
Sheets

Yarrr!

(Hopefully) Starting ~ Tuesday September 1st I will be running Emerald Spire 1: The Tower Ruins

Please note that we will be making extensive use of Fort Inevitable and other supporting materials describing the setting and area around the Emerald Spire rather than just being a series of Dungeon Crawls with the PCs magically appearing at the start of each level.

I plan on continuing to run Emerald Spire levels (although real life/plans can always change things) giving existing players first shot at the slots. This will run as close to a traditional campaign as possible despite the episodic nature of PFS chronicles.

I am looking for 4 players (expected party size for Emerald Spire) to join me in this adventure.

Maps will be through either Google Draw or Google Slides.

What I expect of you:
This game will run faster than the traditional "1 post per day minimum." We'll be slower on weekends and I'll occasionally be busy but I'll let you know when I'm not around and expect you to do the same.

You should have a PFS character level 1-2 with a character sheet that's easy for me to access. Additionally some basic stats should be available at a glance via clever use of profiles. I can help you get the formatting right if needed. I understand that real life happens but I would very much appreciate the courtesy of a quick note if you're going to be unavailable.

What you should expect of me:
I currently work nights as a board game guru and during the day as a freelance accountant so I generally have lots of free time during the day to read/post multiple times.

I am an experienced GM however no matter how much time I waste staring at rulebooks, I will still make mistakes. If you do notice anything you think is wrong or even questionable please feel free to bring it up in discussion.

I will do my best to keep the game moving quickly and to be as fun as possible. I will not softball the challenges, nor will I increase their difficulty, be prepared to live or die by your own skill and the roll of the dice.

Recruitment will not be first come/first serve.
I tend to lean towards players who I think will make a fun game and have a history of being quick/reliable posters, but I plan to use at least 1 of the 4 player slots for a new player (even the stranger at the gate is owed hospitality)

I would prefer players who haven't played deeper levels of the Spire so that it is easier to maintain a cohesive story-line as we progress deeper, but it is not strictly necessary.

We will be starting before the game day, so we will not be eligible for Gameday boons (although assuming things continue, future levels may be)

As always if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

I'd love to join you.

All (both) of my level one characters are currently occupied. I've also never played Emerald Spire, having just started PFS and PbP a few months ago. Thus, I guess I qualify as a newbie, although I like to think I do have a pretty consistent post rate in my adventures here.

I'm happy to create a new character for this adventure. (Indeed, I would need to.) I'm leaning toward kineticist, but would just as happily play a Wizard, Rogue, Cleric, or, if I must, a Fighter, depending on party needs.

With the exception of Occult Adventures and a couple of minor things, my "Additional Resources" library is a bit thin, but I could scrounge something if needed.

Cheers,

TomG

"So! I've heard that there's this expedition what is headin' t' the Spire. Heard a little bit 'bout it in Absalom an' my family, but th' folks over by the River Kingdoms were kinda closed-mouthed about it, somethin' about not wantin' t' make waves or somethin'. I'd be interested in it, an' Torag knows if there's nasty stuff down there, it needs dealin' wit'.

Where do I send my resume t'?"

I work in retail, so my posting times are odd because my schedule can be odd, with some night shifts piled atop each other, then a random day off, then work during the day. Typically, I'm slow during the days. This'd be the first dungeon I'd be taking on from at L1-ish upward.

Brigid has Adopted Weapons Training and the Adopted trait. Half-orc skald adopted by dwarves and a follower of Torag. As she's L1, still working on the skald part, but it looks like a better fit than bard.

If there's questions, concerns, whatnot, please let me know! Also kind of important, is this going to be PFS-legal?

Virtually certain. Your GM is the Venture-Captain for San Francisco.

Also, he rocks.

Also also, I would love to play, but I've played ES through level 5 (plus level 14 to help a couple of local peeps get to Eyes of the 10), so I'm going to recuse and let others who haven't played any of it get to. But I'mma watch for a level I can fill in here and there, if need be. Cos, like I said, your GM rocks.

Oh, well... um. Yes. Hello there! Going to shift to Bard, because it's better rounded.

Grand Lodge

I'd be interested in playing, but if you get some more experienced PbP players (since you already have a new player signed up) that may be better for your group overall. (I'll have anywhere from a level 1.0 to 2.0 available due to GM blobs, if you need me though, I've done none of the spire)

This is a dot for later, I'll figure out which pfs character I think will fit best for this.

Silver Crusade

While I'm sure you'll have lots of interest, I'd be very interested in playing The Godhome with my Emerald Spire character (who funnily enough is a Bolt Ace), when you get that far, and would be up for most of the higher levels (already played Drowned Level). Level 1 is always a lot of fun too, though most of my options for that are still credit blobs.

Also basically completely unfamiliar with Fort Inevitable, though my main ES character is going all in on the Land Rush.

Game will be PFS, Normal. I'm not especially concerned with character details at this stage.

I may end up with a table full of new-ish players, I imagine a lot of experienced players have already gone through Emerald Spire as a player, I know I have.

Thank you for the stellar endorsement thunderspirit.

A little more about me, I'm the Venture Captain of San Francisco and a 5* GM. I'm from the Bay Area but I lived in Iowa for a few years before moving back to the Bay Area and taking up the VC mantle. I run pfsprep.com

I don't run pbps especially often, I think this is my 9th, and only tend to run one at a time so I can focus on making it as awesome as possible. I also like a little strangeness (previous pbps of mine include Reign of Winter w/13th Age, Microscope, and Organized Play for the Adventure Card Game)

Appreciate all the interest so far. As a note I'll be travelling most of the day this Thursday and Monday so I won't be responding to many posts those days. I hope to get my final list up either Sunday night or Monday morning, let the players get organized and settled on Monday and then start in earnest Tuesday or at the latest Wednesday.

Wow, this dungeon is my favorite color! How could I not try out!

The only potential issue is that this dungeon is basically going to be a character's career so I might have to get back to you on who/what I'm playing (i.e. My Ulfen water wizard and his greataxe are meant more for the Shackles than dungeon-bobbing). I have had couple of dungeon-centric characters in my ancient D&D past that I could rebuild at first level or come up with something new (or hybrid) based on party need.

So color me interested,
The Great Green God

Silver Crusade

I'd be very interested in playing! I never had the chance to play ES. That's now a year I play in pbp and I really enjoy it! I have a few level 1.0 and 2.0 characters that I'd be happy to play.

I so want to get into this game count me in, hope the tables not full yet ^_^

About me for now I am limited to only pbp and can post every day, as why where I am living now I cannot find any People to game with and there is a bit of a language wall...my french is really bad....but I would live to get in on this game, I am in gmt +1 but I hope that the time difference dose not deter me from getting into the game ^_^

Scarab Sages

I'd be interested, too.

Last year I played a single portion of the Emerald Spire around 9th level iirc.

Spoiler:
Was some sort of lab with a carnivorous crystal; which is as far into it as we got :P.

I've since been curious what the preceding levels hold and would love to join your campaign, especially as it promises to have some contextual references to bring the setting to life.

This looks interesting - haven't played the spire yet, but wanted to for quite some while!

I'll have to make a new character for this - gonna need a bit time to pick one of the concepts I still wanne try.
Do we have to worry about ressources in there? (bullets, blackpowder, mundane spell components etc)

PS: I'm an experienced GM (homebrew stuff mostly) and have played some PFS, but not much. I've been playing pbp for a few years but had a long break after all the games I was playing died off for various reasons :/

I got lots of free time, so the posting rate shouldn't be a problem. On weekends I'll be a lot slower though because of all the tabletop games I'm running :)

Liberty's Edge

Is it full?

Dark Archive

I would be interested and I have a few characters readily available.

Dark Archive

I have interest.

I can post all day long from monday to friday, and poorly on weekends.

What do we have to do to be eligible for the space available on the party? =)

EDIT.: and I never played ES before. Where can I find some information about the Fort Inevitable? I'm asking because I don't have a "free" PC now (I just have 3), and if I'll can play ES, I'll make a PC more connected to the area in which the module occurs.

Dark Archive

Dotting this for interest.

I'm relatively new the PbP and Pathfinder, not at all new to rpgs though. I can post everyday at least once. I do work late from Saturday - Tuesday, being EST this may hamper my being able to post during what would be your afternoons.

At the moment my only level 1's are both in the middle of scenarios and/or promised for gameday after those but I'd be willing to whip up a new PC based on party need.

The Exchange

I would be interested in this. I've got several different characters ready to go based on party needs, which I can provide via Google docs. I have a preference for getting my rogue a little work though.

I generally post multiple times per day, so this would be a great setting for me. I also haven't played anything past the 1st level of the Spire, so no spoilers on the deeper portions.

Working my way down the questions...

GGG: Green is indeed the best color. I'm not particularly concerned with what characters people want to bring.

Sertaki: Game follows the normal rules for resource consumption, although PFS does have occasional slight oddities with long cooldown/long duration effects and lasting between scenarios etc.

Is the game full?

Pirate GM wrote:

No.

Most of the information about Fort Inevitable is in the Emerald Spire book and is rife with spoilers but the Pathfinder wiki has some good basic background.

Basic Fort Inevitable Info

Searching the wiki for other nearby/overlapping areas such as the Crusader Road, the River Kingdoms, Echo Woods and Thornkeep may be helpful as well for developing background.

You get on my list by expressing interest in this thread.

Did I miss anything?

SO im clear this is for PFS?...ether way i totally want to get into this game

Ah I've heard much about Emerald Spire but never played it!

Like the idea of a fast-paced game, I'd definitely be interested :)

I've a level 1 ranger ready to go, she's only played the Confirmation and In Service to Lore so far! Will start reading about Fort Inevitable :)

Hm I think this game would be a bit too much for my time actually.
Gonna back out with a heavy heart, as this sounds very fun :/

Silver Crusade

yep, I'll bring in my Ranger Tengu

Shadow Lodge

I have a few characters who I could use for this, or a brand new character.

There's my Catromancer Witch - level 2.1 - that wouldn't work in PbP.
There's my Dhampir Arcanist (Unlettered/Blood) - level 1.1 - she needs her history rewritten anyway due to being 90 years younger then originally. Alternatively I could rebuild her out of arcanist.
There's my Cavalier (Spellscar Drifter) - level 1.2 - I'm still not even sure why he's a pathfinder, he failed at Master of the Fallen Fortress...

And then I have my elemental race boons...2 Undine, and 1 Ifrit, Slyph and Oread, I'm sure I could make something with one of those...

It's looking currently like most of your submissions are rangers, and since you wanted a 4 man party, arcane or divine might be the way for me to go...So my Arcanist might actually be a good option since she has the witch list and spontaneous casting she could make a decent healer.

Alright, I'm out for today, I'll try and check in either tonight or tomorrow morning though.

The Exchange

"Well, hello my fellows," cries the man, as he raises his mug of ale high in greeting. Despite the sudden movement, he does not spill a drop. Not that any ale would stand out on his completely black ensemble. A sheathed blade (a rapier, it appears) hangs from the back of his chair and a red cloak is thrown over the adjacent chair.

The blackhaired, black clad man gestures at the table, inviting you to sit. "I am The Black, as you can see by my beautiful hair and breathtaking fashion choices, honh honh," he laughs in an Andoren accent.

He points to the nearby red cloak. "Do you like my latest wardrobe addition? She was <ahem> not wearing it, and I had to hastily put something on and make a sudden exit when her beau returned unexpectedly!"

He laughs and winks as he says this. "Perhaps I will call myself 'The Black and Red' from now on!"

The Black would be very interested in exploring the Emerald Spire, as he hasn't seen an adventure since LG days. His purse is light, and the ladies here in Fort Inevitable deserve an extravagant meal and delectable bottle of wine while he woos them. This costs money. And what is a dinner without a tale of swashbuckling derring-do and feats amazing, eh?

Grand Lodge

Also sitting at the table near the strange Andoren fellow with the outrageous accent, is a worn traveler with bright, interesting eyes that watch everything. The road's dust is still on his clothing, attesting to his recent arrival in Fort Inevitable.

He pulls forth a sketchbook from a surgeon's pouch and begins making drawings of The Black's mustache and face. If one looks closely, perhaps they will be unnerved by the chirugeons' close, clinical examination of his subject. It is almost as if he were... dissecting his subject with his eyes. <shiver>

Before any can see his sketch, he hastily puts it away and extends his hand to whatever newcomer sits at the table.

"Taldus Bellerophon. PROFESSOR Taldus Bellerophon, at your service. Caravan chirugeon at the moment. But I'm looking for other work. The road and its dangers do not suit one of my temperament, I've found."

Professor Bell is a Merciful Healer looking for less frightening work than standing a watch on caravan duty, beating off goblins, avoiding dire wolves' fangs and dodging ettin clubs. Perhaps archeologist/ruin explorers could use his assistance. They always seem to come back with fever, infected mosquito bites and random injuries that he could easily fix right up. Check his profile for fully-fledged background. I made him for an aborted Dragon's Demand PBP. He's PFS legal and can be immediately instantiated as a PFS character.

The Exchange

Professor Bellerophon and The Black are both mine. I'm a longtime PFS and PBP player. Am currently wrapping up one game and am looking to devote my attention to another. I can (and do) post three to four times a day. Am looking for roleplay rather than roll-play and have found that PBP or PBeM is the way to go for that.

Thanks for your consideration, Pirate Rob/DM.

i have Hasshin a bloodrager 1 and Vires bloodrager 1 free now Vires is going to be changed a bit just changing up one of my bloodlines, both are quite different from one another and can post many times a day. I am at GMT+1 so with you in in my home state that is a 9 hour difference but i normally stay up late so i can speak with family back home.

i have only seen the first level of the Spire but that was with my first PBP character. He is a hunter and will not be free to try and get in this adventure. I am still a bit new to PFS as i have only had 4 tables completed so far.

The Exchange

Updated the profile for this character with stats, etc. I am guessing rogue skills would come in handy for the dungeons.

Dark Archive

Here's my Dhampir Arcanist, I need to rewrite her history ARG errata made her 90 years younger, yea... so that is blank right now, but all of her stats are up. She also needs to be updated according to the ACG errata, but that won't effect her much.

I can provide proof of my race boon, which I traded for, I can also tell you who I traded for it or forward you the messages on the paizo forums.

Eirlys is meant to be a self healing blaster, however due to having the witch list, one of these is easier to accomplish then the other. I intend for her to go into the Pathfinder Savant PrC to pick up some fun spells from other lists.

I might mess with her archetypes a bit after the first floor, it might be fun to change her into a white necromancer (switch bloodline archetype for school archetype and get necromancy school) or possibly just change her bloodline, but for now it won't change.

*waves hi from Washington State*

Still looking through people's posting history consulting the bones etc.

If I find 4 I'm super happy with prior to Sunday night I'll go ahead and close up shop then. Thank you everybody so far for your interest.

As a reminder I'm not particularly interested in character details at this stage.

I prefer to think that he's found less then 4 that he is super happy with and is optimistic that there are 4 he'll be super happy with who have already posted and he just hasn't finished looking into the players to be certain that they would stick around.

Btw, Pirate Rob, I've actually met you before, but I don't believe I've gotten a chance to actually play with you. I was at DunDraCon in 2014 wearing a black cloak and I had a Razmir mask. We also have the same first name.

Ya, I've got 2 people I definitely want, a bunch of maybes and a few I haven't gotten to yet. I will hopefully have enough time on Saturday to finish sorting stuff out, if not then surely by Sunday night as originally planned.

Tico Marvillos

"Temperance and patience". It couldn't be different. Born a slave, Tico suffered with the heavy hands of his Chelaxian masters. Separated from his mother at birth, he served a several Chelaxian masters, until he meets Undergath.

Undergath is a servant of Sarenrae, born in Augustana who traveled to Ostenso a pair of years ago. He told to the local authorities that was there to make some merchant business, but by the truth, he was there in a secret mission for the Liberty's Edge to free a dozen of slaves maintained in the docks, who lives a degradant life. One of them was Tico.

While most of the slaves was rebels, want to cut their masters' head off, Tico was a tempered man. He treats the wounds of his fellows, and always wanted to protect them from their masters' angry.

Now a freed slave, Tico was so grateful for the man's action, that offered himself to follow him to free more slaves through Avistan, and the Dawnflower's follower saw the honesty in Tico's semblant and attitudes, who turned out to invite him to know the faith of Sarenrae and the dogmas of The Everlight.

Passed time, Tico becomes an acolyte of the church of Sarenrae and was sent to Absalom to initiate his career as a member of Pathfinder Society. He swore to Undergath, to his faith, to Liberty's Edge and mainly to himself, that he will dedicate his life to free those are chained against their will.

Despite be a Chelaxian borned, Tico dislike that people, knowing that he have the spirit of the Adoran's revolucionaries inside him. And today he have a special mission at the River Kingdoms in a place commanded by an evil woman of the Hellknight Order of the Pike.

He can't wait to arrive in Fort Inevitable and kick some hellknight's asses out of the town and free them from the iron fist of Lady Commander Audara Drovust, and maybe establish a kind of "People's Council" in that place, blessed by Sarenrae's flames. Why not?

This is the background of my PC! Will be an human, cleric of sarenrae level 1, NG. I'll post his sheet if he will be approved to enter in the campaign (I hope so!). Thank you for the chance. =)

Thank you all so much for your interest.

I've decided to go with the following 4 players.

Go ahead and join me over at the discussion thread, where you guys can discuss OOC concerns like who's playing what if so desired. It's also a good place to ask any further questions about the game.

Once you've got your character set feel free to post in the gameplay thread, there's a very polite halfling butler ready to take your drink order.

As a reminder I'll be travelling most of Monday and don't expect to properly get the game going until Tuesday.

Thank you everybody for your interest, and keep an eye out for future recruitment threads in case we lose players along the way.

I made some adaptations in the character's background, I hope that has no problem with this.

background

Born a slave, Tico suffered with the heavy hands of his Chelaxian masters. Separated from his mother at birth, he served a several Chelaxian masters, until he meets Undergath.

Undergath was a servant of Ra, an Osirani who traces his lineage to the Ancient Osirion, who had been kidnaped when was a child and like Tico, becomes a slave in the Chelaxian's hands until he was set free by an incursion of a Liberty's Edge group. He survived a long time as a slave thanks to his faith in the King of the Heavens, as teached by his mother to him, and his grandmother to his mother and so on.

The Ra's cleric traveled to Ostenso a pair of years ago. He told to the local authorities that was there to make some merchant business, but by the truth, he was there in a secret mission for the Liberty's Edge to free a dozen of slaves maintained in the docks, who lives a degradant life.
